[ LET'S GET THIS PARTY OFFICIALLY STARTED! Opening events so we don't do too much comm flooding (although people are welcome to make their own posts for the event). You're welcome to toplevel with your character if you'd like to have them show up somewhere else for this plot.

SPRING FESTIVAL

[ It’s a little early in the season for for outdoors events, much less any kind of festival, but the organizers couldn’t have picked a more gorgeous day if they tried. Perfectly clear and sunny, just warm enough that the cool breeze drifting through the park today feels pleasant instead of chilly. Combined with the fact that this event has been widely advertised, with flyers posted all around all four ImPort cities, and there’s bound to be a large crowd here today.

Fortunately, there’s plenty to do. Just about every kind of small town fair ride is here in the park, along with a fun house and a couple of bouncy castles just because. (They frown on adults in the bouncy castle, sadly.) Admission for ImPorts is reduced as well; free with donation of canned goods to the booth at the front. They’ll be distributing the food to folks in Heropa who are still struggling to get back on their feet post Hornet attack. All and all, if your evening is free or you happen to be swinging through the De Chima area, there’s no better place to be than here.

At right around 6 PM, though, something odd happens. Sharp-eared ImPorts might hear a faint noise from the nearby residential area, almost like a sonic boom. Then, a very faint shockwave rolls over the park - barely anything, really, just enough to tip off especially sensitive types and start all the dogs barking their head off. That’s all the warning anyone gets before the nanite scrambling effect hits. The result: an immediate, near-instantaneous physical change for a large number of the ImPort attendees. Hopefully you weren’t in the middle of something important and/or potentially dangerous just now… ]

[It was May's suggestion to go to the fair, not that Normie really needed any coaxing. It sounded like fun, and he couldn't think of the last time he got to just hang out with her like this. Not since they were kids, most likely.

He intends to make the most of it.

Normie walks back over to where May is waiting for him, a bag of cotton candy in his hand.] You sure you don't want some?

MEANWHILE, AT DE CHIMA #1

[ You know what kind of sucks? Not being able to figure out how to do something that should be simple on a piece of tech that frankly isn’t that complicated. Nevermind that the tech is, in fact, completely new and “simple” in theory is miles away from remotely practical - Hiro’s used to being a genius who can figure anything out, and running into a brick wall like this is infuriating. It can’t possibly be that he doesn’t know what he’s doing here. It’s just the tech that’s getting in the way.

Six hours later, it’s still the tech getting in the way. Or so he’s telling himself. He’s been at it since noon today, alternately poring over the damn thing with his brother and shooing him out so Hiro can run another test. Still no luck with producing ANY effect, much less the one he’s looking for. When the generator hums but does nothing, yet again, Hiro’s reduced to banging his head against the top of thing. What’s he even missing at this point? Why won’t it go off?

He sits upright again, suddenly consumed by a fit of frustration. The generator won’t do anything at all? Fine, he’ll make it do something, even if it’s terrible, dammit. He keys in the most recent setup he tried, throws in some half-baked gibberish at the end … then eyes the power meter. He’d had it turned down to minimum to keep any effects from going past the garage. But maybe that’s his issue? If he just cranks the thing up, then maybe he can brute force it.

That’s how De Chima #1 suddenly gets rocked by a shockwave that that vibrates through the entire structure, knocking dishes off shelves and cracking windows on the other side of the house. Hiro himself gets knocked flat to the floor by it. The generator hum reaches a fever pitch for few more seconds - then abruptly snaps off as it shorts out. Smoke pours out of the thing and into the garage. He has to gasp and snag the garage door opener with his technokinesis to get it open and prevent himself from, y’know, suffocating. He settles back against the floor with a low, frustrated groan. That generator copy is completely busted now, and he doesn’t even feel any different. At least he didn’t catch anything on fire… ]

[You know what else sucks? When a project of one's own is just going along fairly smoothly while he waited for a signal to check Hiro's tests. Six hours he's been keeping an ear out for his brother to call him down, working on a second copy of the nullifier bracelet - this time for Manabu, poor guy - and still no sign. Maybe the generator for this kind of project is a bust. Or they got the broadcast code wrong.

Tadashi's halfway down the stairs when the shockwave hits and he grabs to the railing to stay upright. Once the shaking's bearable, he makes a bee-line for the garage, tearing the door open as the wave hits along with the smoke. Coughing, trying to cover his face with his shirt (he doesn't remember his shirt being this big, but maybe he grabbed the wrong one out of the wash?), he waves some of it out of his face.]

Hiro? Hiro, talk to me, are you okay?

De Chima #001 several hours into the swap

[After Ken had found him at #002, sitting huddled on his bed and wary of leaving, he'd brought Minato over to #001 to make sure he had responsible supervision. He'd also given him Ken's clothes to change into, which is how Minato ends up over here in shorts, an orange hoodie, and his perpetual mp3 player-- made by Hiro-- draped around his neck down to his waist.

Presently he's sitting in the living room examining it curiously, since it's so far ahead of anything he's used to. Minato had managed to convince his auntie to give him a tape player, but this was much better. It had so many songs on it...

Looping the little rigid wire over his ear to keep the headphones on is proving a challenge, though. It just keeps falling off. Minato, with no expression, doggedly tries again each time it drops off. Whatever other chaos is going on around him, he barely seems to notice.]

[Maybe it's a little selfish, but Shinjiro's first thought was that he's glad he's not the only one who's been scaled down. Apparently Hiro's experimental failure was more widespread than 'just in his room' or their house, since Minato nearby had been affected as well, and brought over by Ken.

(Who... it had taken Shinjiro embarrassingly long to figure out had actually gotten taller and older, as opposed to himself just having skewed perspective from being so small again.)

But the second thing he's noticed is just how quiet Minato is. Not that he's typically very chatty, mind... but it feels different now. Much more secluded and withdrawn, instead of just patiently observing and listening. He watches Minato try and fail with the headphones for a while, before finally rolling his eyes.]

They're not gonna stick. Give it up or find some earbuds or something.

AROUND DE CHIMA AND NONAH 005

[ Charlie had swung by the festival, just to see what was up, but after a while he'd decided it was time to head home. He'd been trekking his way back to the porter when the strange wave had rippled through town and suddenly he was tripping all over himself, caught up in clothes that were far too big.

As an adult, Charlie hadn't been all that big- he was certainly on the short side, as a certain Star-Lord liked to remind him- but as a ten-year-old he was downright puny. Tripping up on his jeans as he was, it didn't take much for him to go tumbling.

For a moment he just sat there, a mop of blond hair poking out of a pile of clothes, as he tried to suss out what just happened. Everything was kind of hazy, and for a terrified moment he thought maybe he'd lost his mother and father, but that made no sense. They wouldn't just leave him, first of all, and what was he doing in these clothes anyway?

It came back to him by degrees, though not fully. He remembers being taken from home, and now having to live in this strange other world. He remembers he has friends here. He remembers where he lives. He remembers some of his magic, though that's odd, because to his knowledge he as two more years before he starts his studies.

And so, there is now a tiny, scrawny ten-year-old wearing a t-shirt that comes down to his knees trudging down the sidewalk, headed for the porter. He's bundled his remaining clothes in his arms and he's trying his damnedest not to lose any as he walks. ]

[ Hello housemates! There is a tiny blond boy sitting on the couch, legs dangling over the edge. He might have raided Ken's closet for something that fits a little better (sorry bro), so at least he's not totally swimming in his clothes.

Charlie's face is scrunched up in concentration as he draws out a mark in the air with his magic. Unlike adult Charlie, bitty Charlie takes it slow, as the knowledge of his spells is still somewhat fuzzy to him. When the mark is complete, the TV remote on the living room table stands on one end and waddles a couple of steps before flopping back over.

He is ecstatic about this, and actually lets out a whoop of joy. ]

[Ken's walking into the house later in the day. Two of his teammates from home had turned into children and the people who were left as adults were -- well. One of them caused the entire thing and the other would feed all of the children piles of protein. He had to stay to make dinner and see to it that nothing was going to blow up. Still, he's worried about his own house mates too so he comes home in the late afternoon, a sleeping puppy in one arm and some groceries in the other. He's taller than usual and older, too, but the hair flipping everywhere might still be recognizable.

And as far as Ken's concerned, there's only one person in this house who would have hair like that, and he's gotten used to people growing smaller after today's events. The question is, would he remember? Only one way to find out.]

DE CHIMA #001, MOST OF THE WEEK

[ Magicman has stuck around to make sure all these children don't get into accidents and hurt themselves, but because he's only got one pair of hands and one set of eyes there are currently quite a few viruses swooping around the house, sending data back to him when they can. It's as if a very small and specific plague has descended upon this house.

He can be found in various places around the house, but most often in the kitchen, where he's both cooking and trying to keep any kitchen-related disasters from happening. ]

JUST KINDA AROUND

[ If you're friends with Magicman and he knows where you live (or more likely, has an access route to your comm), he'll be checking up on you during this event. How you greet his sudden appearance in your communicator is up to you.

If not, he'll be out and about in Heropa or Maurtia Falls; he can be found more often in Maurtia Falls, in fact, keeping up on the shadier side of things just to keep his hand in. ]

De Chima

[Sabriel is perfectly happy to follow Magicman and his viruses around the house- occasionally trying to grab a virus, or simply throwing spells at them.]

1. Around De Chima:

Suddenly changing ages was nothing new to Conan.

Suddenly changing ages without any pain? That was something that had never happened before. Whether he'd been going from child to teenager or teenager to child, it was pain like nothing else he had ever experienced.

He staggers slightly in a delayed reaction to suddenly being twice the height he was a moment ago. And then the realization hits.

He looked like himself. The disguise of Conan was gone. And he still hadn't confirmed for certain that none of them were here.

If just one person here recognized him as Shinichi Kudo...

He warily looks around the park, his paranoia at full strength. Seeing no one looking at him at the moment, he quickly moves away into the city. The first priority right now was getting out of view.

2. The Rest of the Week:

Shinichi was not having a good week. Through stalking the network he'd figured out that his current status was more widespread than he first suspected. In some ways it was a relief that the apotoxin was not to blame this time.

But at the same time it didn't solve his problem. How to avoid making anyone suspicious of his real age. And more importantly, how to avoid the slim chance of anyone making the connection between Shinichi Kudo and Conan Edogawa.

He had two choices here. He could pretend to be the same as all the other suddenly grown up children or he could claim himself as Conan's distant relative. Either one presented the problem of someone making the connection.

And so he'd resorted to wearing a hat to shade his face while doing his best to avoid anyone he had talked to as Conan.

[With her scrambled memories thanks to Sabriel's bell, Riza wok be making no connections at all. Instead, she'll happen to be sitting in the park with Boba as Shinichi walks by.

She was content to leave the stranger alone. Boba was not. The puppy jumps to his feet and runs circles around Shinichi, tail wagging excitedly. He's grabbed the ball that Riza had been throwing him.

Looks like the puppy wants to play!

Meanwhile:] Puppy puppy no! Not everyone wants to play with you. I'm sorry, mister.

...His name tag says he's my puppy but Boba won't ever listen to me.

DAWN OF THE FIRST DAY | around de chima;

[ Peter Quill is terrified.

He barely knows where he is or what he's doing here or why his clothes are so huge -- and the faint hint of familiarity he feels whenever he glances around is just weird. Like he's been here before, but he knows he hasn't. He's-- he's pretty sure of that, anyway. He's never stepped foot outside of Missouri, at least, and no place in Missouri looked like this, like it was a city straight out of The Jetsons.

His memories are a fuzzy sort of blur, like waking up from a deep sleep when his eyes refuse to focus. The only thing he remembers clearly is a flash of light, a rush of wind, and a strange sensation of weightlessness. He remembers screaming and crying and thinking, This isn't fair, this isn't fair. But that doesn't seem right, either, because he also remembers something like a county fair. Cotton candy and popcorn and rides, and watching people throw darts at balloons. He remembers wrinkling his nose at people willingly strapping themselves into something that looked more like a squeaky metal death trap than a ride.

Eventually he decides he'll sort it out later, and with a twinge of guilt, the first thing he does is steal a set of clothes. (It's easier than it probably should've been, and he'll sort that out later, too.) The red leatherish jacket stays, though it's way too big on him, and he drapes it over one arm to carry it around. He keeps his Walkman clutched tightly in his hands, and a pair of headphones with bright orange earpads dangle around his neck.

Mom and Gramps always told him to go to a policeman if he ever got lost like this, but seeing as how he just stole, he doesn't see that as a particularly viable option. And the longer he wanders around the city, the more and more anxious he becomes. Anxiety eventually ramps up to fear, and walking turns into running.

It's extremely likely, in fact, that he might run into you. Sorry. ]

[freak powers aside, Manabu is kind of a magnet for fortune or...destiny...or whatever is in charge of these circumstances; a kid banking a corner and straight into his legs is far from the worst of things, but he didn't exactly expect it.]

At the festival

[Unfortunately, Sabriel had been in the middle of explaining how she'd used Belgaer to restore the minds of Imports affected by the Hornets' virus.

Too bad suddenly shrinking made her hands slip, and Belgaer sounds, because now there's a terrified ten year old in oversized clothes and a satchel trying to find her father, and regarding her surroundings with a mixture of fear and confusion.]

[Later... in any of the cities]

[Her father had to be here. He absolutely had to be- his bells were. So Sabriel, after having learned how the Porters worked, had been travelling from city to city, investigating the government housing to see if her father was there. At night, she conjured up a light that follows her around as she kept looking.]

'Scuse me- have you seen my father? [Even at ten, she stood up straight and spoke as clearly as she could.] He's really tall, and he looks a lot like me.

[Riza was positively tiny when she was younger; she didn't hit anything even resembling a growth spurt until she was eleven. As such, Sabriel is currently addressing a tiny six year old who is holding on to a puppy on a leash like it's the only safeel thing she's got. She looks equally as lost.]

I can't find my Papa either. I don't think I'm anywhere near home--everything here's so different.

De Chima

[He'd decided to check out the festival. Except that didn't go so well with Hiro's experiments. Ed finds himself almost swimming in his pants and shirt, dangling from his hands and feet to the ground at the sudden loss of height.

Beyond that issue, this place is weird. He's never seen anything like all this. Has never traveled outside the country back home at best, from Resembool to Dublith at farthest. Regardless, his first step is obviously to find Al.]

Al? Hey, Al!

Heropa:

[Anyone who thinks to check in on the alchemist will find him much shorter and less crankier than usual. Or, mostly. He seems to get the hang of things for the most part after a day or so. Independent enough even if he may rely on others for meals outside of a sandwich. He's still confused and annoyed that Al isn't here, but Winry is and that's one more familiar face than he expected, even if her being here confuses him too. In terms of his habits at the library though, that much hasn't changed if someone looks for him there. In the biology section.]

She stumbles a step back at the collision, startled. In one hand she's holding the remnants of clothing that was far too big; in the other she's holding a dog's leash.

Far from looking irritated, the six year old just looks really confused.]

Around De Chima

[Thanks to that dog like hearing of his, Gar picked up on that shockwave a little more that everyone around him seemed to, followed by the sound of bells. The low pressure wave didn’t hurt his ears, but it had made his stomach uneasy and on top of that he suddenly felt very disoriented.

He stumbled over to the nearest bench to sit a moment and when his mind cleared and he came to, well, he was an 8 year old. Not an 8 year old version of the green monkey boy he usually is though, instead he is the blue eyed, red haired boy he was born as, sitting on a bench in a city he doesn’t know surrounded by people he doesn’t know.

Mama Logan always told him that if they got separated him should stay where he was so she could come back to find him, so that’s what he’s doing. Despite how tempting the rides and cotton candy look. Even though he can’t remember why he’s here, or where his mom is, he’s sure she must be here somewhere. She wouldn’t just leave him.

While he waits for her though, he takes a look around and starts to notice some things that are… kind of out of place; like how all the signs around are in English, and there’s a less Middle Eastern people than he’s used to seeing in Qurac. ...Unless he’s not in Qurac anymore, but when did that happen?

With that question in mind he decides that he can’t just wait around, and starts to wander, trying to get the attention of some passerby. He’s kind of small though, so he ends up pulling on sleeves and poking people.]

[ Hime had been in town for the spring festival. And now...she was glad that she came, if only because whatever this is didn't affect her. So, she had spent the whole day trying to find people, trying to get them home, trying to help out anybody who was tiny and young and some people had their memories changed and ahhhh this was so annoying.

Thankfully, she's kind of small herself, so Gar's able to get her attention pretty quick. ] Hey. Have you lost your mom?

[ because she hasn't seen this kid before, she's assuming he's a native and not an imPort ]

Festival + Heropa

[ She doesn't lose her memories when she's reverted to her younger state. It's just that they start to feel...wrong. Distant. Not hers. And so Kitty Jones, age fourteen, a tall fourteen-year-old with long hair and fierce eyes, looks around herself with suspicion. She moves at once to get out of there, to determine what's going on. ]

Heropa, later
[ Unfortunately, Kitty thought about this and came to a logical but wrong conclusion. These memories feel foreign and alien. So they probably are. She remembers enough about this place to remember that they can change memories, shape them, that people sometimes are made to forget about things that happen here. So she thinks: things feel wrong because they are wrong. It's most likely - horrendously likely - that the government has altered their minds so that they'll stay docile. Quiet. Unprotesting.

(Kitty Jones is also suffering from a return of her teenager's moodiness that always fed her intense anger. It isn't a pleasant thing to get back.)

This isn't the Kitty most people know. The Kitty of Heropa has an easy, friendly confidence. Her self-assurance and comfort in this world translates to a thoughtless sort of kindness. This Kitty has all the fear and anger of a younger girl who hasn't yet felt out her place, who doesn't know her path, who doesn't know what to do. So there are no smiles to be seen from her; instead, as she waits on a park bench, dressed in dark clothes, there's a hard and unfriendly sort of intensity in her face. ]

[He's strayed out a little further from his house than he was doing earlier -- he just kinda got bored of walking around the same area, that's all. And it's not like he's really a little kid -- he's a grownup, sort of, and he doesn't have a bedtime or a parent to come and tell him to stay home, so he's wandered out further, curious who else got hit with this.

He's ventured to the park, loitering around the fountain, when he turns and sees a girl sitting sullenly nearby. He recognizes Kitty after a moment of studying her, and he approaches slowly, because the look on her face looks sour as hell.]

de chima - day one

[Where there's a festival, there's inevitably at least one speedster ready to have fun and take advantage of any and all eating competitions that may or may not come to be. And that's exactly what Bart was doing when this whole shebang happens. He'd shown up in De Chima out of Impulse gear (better to not have the vigilante finger pointed at him) and in more than good spirits, ready to have fun and see who else was around to hang out with and try to rope into some carnival game or another--

And then, of course, with the clanging of a bell... chaos hits.

Even as a fourteen-year-old, Bart's on the smaller and scrawnier size, so that's not really that big of a change. Sure, he's all around shrunk a bit (his sweatshirt looks at least three sizes too big now that he's gotten rid of the muscle he's built up over the last year) but the biggest change between how he was and the ten-year-old standing frozen in the middle of a crowd is the look on his face.

It's pure fear that he first feels - the rush of adrenaline and a pounding heart as he realizes he doesn't know where he is, what's going on. When all he sees are people and panic and bright lights and strange colors. But then he starts to feel it, starts to notice how his limbs aren't moving quite right, how things seem to be stop-starting, the images around him slowing down and speeding up in flashes so fast he can barely understand what's really happening--

But the kid's smart, and while his body is trying to understand what to do with powers it's not used to, his mind's on a whole other track, racing on and on and piecing the puzzle together until it all comes bubbling out in a startled laugh, until he just lets his knees buckle and digs his fingers into the ground, feeling grass against his skin, staring up at the clear blue sky, and soaking in the warmth of the sun for the first time in his life.

The speed will come later, he'll deal with the way his body feels like it's going to shake apart at the seams if he doesn't run run run, but for now? For now, he's just going to spend the next few hours sitting on the ground and staring up at the sky with wide, awestruck eyes.]

[Apparently, moving around with superspeed isn't as easy as it might seem. Sure, Bart knows he was born with it (and keeps grumbling to himself how that should mean he should have some born control over it), getting used to going in and out of the speed itself is taking some getting used to. He keeps trying to move his arm a few inches and ending up flailing about way too fast, keeps trying to take a step and finding his body moving at least three times as fast as his brain.

He's run into walls a few dozen times, freaked himself out by finding out he can vibrate through things by losing his arm through a door, and tried to ask a few people questions while sounding like a tape on fast forward, all high pitched and garbled.

But that's not stopping him from seeing as much of this world as he can, from running from store to store asking people what various little gadgets and products do and what they're for, from walking into a fast food place and staring at the sheer amount of food being fried up and doled out for at least an hour, and from coming to a sudden stop any time he sees someone walking a dog in order to go up and quietly, almost shyly ask if he can just... just look at the dog for a moment.

He'll work his way up to actually asking to pet one around his third day of doing so.

To anyone that knows Bart as he normally is, the excitement and the movement is all undeniably there. The interest is in his eyes and almost in his motions, but his expressions and tone are always reserved and on guard. Or. Well. As on guard as one can possibly be when everything in the whole goddamn world is absolutely mindblowingly amazing.]

he manages to get one arm successfully into his uniform jacket before a– a thing blows straight across his path and sends him spinning, staggering practically into traffic with a startled yelp.]

[This guy had a hot dog halfway to his mouth, seated comfortably on a wooden bench, when suddenly the world shifted. Riku lets go of the hot dog in surprise, realizing how low his eye level just got and why can his toes only just drag across the ground? And then he's sitting up slowly, and his sneakers have fallen off, socks hanging on only by virtue of them being shaped to his feet.

Riku looks down at himself, takes a deep breath, and gets off the bench. He's a lot younger now -- a skinny five-year-old instead of the tall young man most would be familiar with. He's still instantly recognizable as who he is, though, his colouring hasn't changed at all. Nor his memories, which is why if you come across him, either here or somewhere else in his wanderings around the festival, you might notice he's got quite the scowl, too-big shoes dangling from one hand.]

Riku's taken to staying near his house. Once he found his way home from de Chima and found some clothes that actually fit, he discovered that he couldn't travel nearly as quickly on foot as he could as a grownup. Not only that, but he can't fit on his hover-vespa anymore, so that's out of the question, too. Besides, a little kid riding one would probably get the police questioning him, and he's not in the mood. He hasn't really been in the mood for much, so he's hanging out around the houses, wandering. Bart's nowhere to be found, so that means neither of them can keep track of their deliveries, and Riku's finding it kinda hard to fill his time without any work to do. Save him from his boredom, why don't you?]

[Winry's walking Zoey. Even though she's about half the height she was this time last week, she still has good control over her dog. Zoey does pull a little harder at the leash, but Winry's (mostly) up to it - except when Zoey spots a squirrel and jerks free of Winry's grip.

[This is bad. This is so, so bad. This experiment got way out of hand before Tadashi even knew it'd started, he didn't know Hiro was going to just crank it up like that and do it and blow their generator. Now they have no way to fix it for weeks if they work nonstop at making another copy and hoping to replicate the code, then try to reverse it.

De Chima #1 has become a madhouse of many very small children, a couple of adults, and Tadashi stuck in the middle at capable but still short fourteen. So it's no surprise he got put on dog walking duty for the very tiny, active Koromaru. He's around the residence area walking the small shiba twice a day, three times if there's too much commotion in the house. He also makes periodic stops to hardware and electronic stores trying to get replacement parts they need, but wouldn't you know, even knowing there's a big age snafu going on, retails are still leery of selling this stuff to a small teenager.

He did not miss being fourteen.]

2. De chima #1 (various days)

[Even amongst all the weirdness going on, Tadashi's at least used to being the big brother no matter what age, so all these kids? He's got it. Even if Magicman keeps sending him on errands to try and get Tadashi not to fuss over anyone, it's still hard not to try and help.

He's also trying to clean up whatever messes inevitably get made with this much happening, or in the garage trying to repair the broken generator or - failing that - salvage the parts they can still use in a new one. On top of that, he's still trying to do some damage control over the network as well now that they've gotten a good idea of just how badly this affected the area.]

[a half-hour stop has turned into a three-hour delay as the train Manabu was working came down with sudden engine trouble. again. he'd complain about how unreliable things are here compared to home, but then he'd have to actually know enough about the machines out in space to have any say. the rest is just complaining, and who has time to deal with that?

the problem isn't so much the delay as it is the fact Manabu has virtually nothing to fill his time with. he's not a crossword kind of guy...or a...take-it-easy in general kind of guy. he likes working. he likes actively pursuing a goal that feels important. he...

well, he likes dogs fairly well, be he didn't expect one to suddenly bully up to him and jump at his legs, trying to get at the half-eaten cinnamon roll in his hands.]

[Riza was unfortunate enough to be at the fair and close enough to hear Sabriel 's bells. She's now spent a solid hour stumbling around the fair, swimming in her clothes and struggling with a puppy that seems quite riled up. Eventually she finds an inexpensive jumper and buus that with money she assumes her father must've given her for the fair. It's a practical purchase; he won't mind.

No longer a shuffling bundle of fabric, she sits on a bench with her colorful puppy, pressing her face into his neck.]

Puppy, puppy--what are we supposed to do? Your name tag says that you're my puppy but I don't know where we are.

B | Heropa, later in the week

[With time, little Riza is less wary of her surroundings. She still feels lost, but Papa wouldn't want her to fuss--the best way to solve problems is to be rational and panicking won't help her figure out where she is or how she got here.

Kind strangers may want to interrupt the six year old wandering around with a puppy, looking flabbergasted at all the technology around her.]

A. At/Near the Spring Festival

[ Having seen the flyers for the Spring Festival, Elize knew she couldn't miss it. After enjoying her time back at the swear-in, she wanted to experience more celebrations. Unfortunately, she couldn't stay too late. Suddenly she found herself to be so much taller. If she could see a mirror right now, she'd realize she's looking about fifteen or sixteen, with much longer hair.

Strangely, she doesn't feel the necessity to hold on to her plush doll, Teepo. Teepo hadn't undergone any physical changes, but he was oddly quieter than normal. However, he did continue to float alongside Elize, following her as she tries to leave the festival. ]

B. Around Various Cities (throughout the event days)

[ Initially, it felt strange being much older. At least, Elize got accustomed to wandering around in a taller form. She also tied her hair back in a low ponytail. All that hair was getting in the way...

She didn't like holing herself up in her residence at Maurtia Falls, so she's simply out for a walk with Teepo floating alongside as usual. ]

A shame Elize doesn't have bazongas like Milla!

[ Her face turns red. Wow, Teepo. Just when she thought she had complete control over when the doll could speak or not. ] Oh, shut up, Teepo! Don't say things like that out loud!

1) De Chima with Croach @ the Festival
She had invited Croach to go with her to the festival, thinking it would be a little more quiet affair than a place with all the carnival rides and games and everything. She wasn't sure if she dared to go on any of them, some of the rides looked like they were put together with band aids and prayers. It was still interesting, however, like watching a different culture's ritual, and she was just pleased to have a relaxing day with Croach.

At the time the sonic boom occurred, she was awkwardly trying to bite into a candied apple--a harder task than she had assume it was going to be, her jaw getting momentarily locked at an embarrassing wide angle--and the next thing she knew her clothes felt two times heavier and everything got dark as her hat got too large for her head and plopped over her eyes. Lifting the brim back up, she found Croach inflicted with the same de-aging disease.

They were now two Martian younglings wandering an Earth fair. At least everything was more age appropriate now.



2) De Chima @ the Festival alone
Red had split with Croach at some point, but she wasn't too worried about it. He was designated Croach the Tracker, after all, so it wasn't like he was going to be lost. She had to ditch most of her clothes somewhere, wearing her undershirt like some kind of sundress, and she traded her candied apple for some kid's jacket so it wasn't gross, her hat sitting back on her head far enough so she could see, and pistol tucked awkwardly in the coat's pocket. She wandered here or there for awhile, looking a little eagerly at some of the rides and games.

She stopped when she spotted what appeared to be pony rides, and dashed over to the pen in quiet Martian excitement. She clambered up on the wood log fence and leaned in to get a good look at the ponies, her facial expression turning unsure, wondering if she would be allowed to ride them if she wasn't with a mature caretaker.

For Crane, later on in the week

Red stayed in Maurtia Falls, her adult memories telling her she could handle it find, and her youngling instincts telling her she was immortal, like most younglings thought. Though, in her case, it was practically true (Praise Nah Notek!), so there was no reason for her not to stay at "home".

She went out alone during the evening to go buy some food for her and Croach, walking to a corner store some blocks away, but as she went her mind began to drift, her younger mind catching interest in things she normally wouldn't have paid attention to. At one point she was even distracted by a simple plastic bag blowing in the wind, and that spelled her doom: she tumbled into an open hole.

She had seen these things around the city, the little delivery ground hatches, or whatever they were called, that old buildings had. They were barely used anymore, locked up and rusted, but sometimes teens liked to crack them open and drink or whatever in them. This one she found herself in was disused (except for the fresh beer bottles and cigarette butts on the floor), the door that used to lead into whatever building it was for was locked tight, the lift inoperable, no ladder, and, worst of all, it was small and dark. It wasn't pitch black night out, but it was practically so in the hatch, and night was falling fast. And she was almost certain the longer she was in there the smaller it was getting. And what if the teens came back and shut her in there because it would be funny? What if the wind closed the hatch? What if--what if--

She tried to keep her cool, but the emotions of a girl under 10, even when raised by Martians, was hard to contain when panic was quickly building. She had seen no one on the street for awhile, the buildings around her were offices or shops closed for the night, Croach wasn't there, it seemed hopeless. She managed to keep it together for maybe 2-3 minutes before she started to call out, her voice shaky but still calm at first, but quickly crescendoing into a loud panic as tears flooded her eyes, threatening to spill, "Help? Help me, please? Help?! Help! Help, help, I am stuck! Croach! Anyone! I am stuck in this hole!! Help, help, help!!" After a few minutes she was yelling as if the devil himself was coming for her.

[well, this is. unexpected. Jonathan's not entirely sure what's caused this sudden regression, but he is now a very adorable boy of no more than twelve years of age at most. while it doesn't seem to be particularly harmful, it's still kind of alarming. it's not too long until he's setting off from the festival in search of the source of...whatever the hell this is.

he's accompanied by a big black monster of a dog who, thankfully, recognizes his master even when he's pint-sized. it's quite a comical picture to see traipsing around the city streets, especially since Jonathan doesn't actually know his way around De Chima all that well at the best of times.]

[unfortunately during said traipsing he'd found himself within hearing range of Sabriel's bell mishap. by the time he finds his way back to Heropa, his memories are significantly absent. thankfully Hyperion is still a faithful companion and, while he's no Danny, he's big enough that Jonathan can't resist having a little fun.

and so there's a young boy shooting down the sidewalk on the back of his dog, laughing uproariously as they go. he's sure that his father will find him eventually, and there's no harm in enjoying himself in the meantime...right?

[ He'd spent long enough here that leaving should be quick and simple, right? Except he's wearing his shirt as a half-skirt, half-toga to cover himself up (the pain of wearing a button up that was far too small, and looking a lot more panicked than a one Kaidan Alenko normally looked. Small hands and barefoot feet scampered across the concrete while he looked around -- either for food or a store where he could get clothes, or looking for his partner in crime.

Who he just happened to be separated from at the moment, but he was at least looking, dragging a pair of pants behind him, not even paying attention to the literal yard of a train behind him. A danger to everyone around him. ]

[ Heropa - through the end of the plot ]

[ Ten year olds didn't think much about work. Actually, Kaidan did think he should work, or try and do his job, but the problem was simply that he didn't feel like working, and so was in direct conflict between what he should and could do.

The impulse to laze around won out (after all, who would actually stop him? There were no parents around) and besides, this way he got to look and see all the things he didn't see normally. Or rather, some of the time. Of course, half the time he spent it playing with the hampster in the apartment he shared with Shepard -- but other than that he spent much of it around Heropa.

Mostly walking into different stores, and speaking up with an all-too-high voice about what he wanted. They had an xbox, after all, so it was partly video games with plenty of violence (and why wouldn't people believe him when he said he was thirty five?) or violent movies he shouldn't be watching -- or food. There was always the food.

Although eventually, he even had to stop for pet supplies, and even took a moment to stare pensively at a play palace at the fast food restaurant. Like he couldn't decide if he wanted to play or not. ]

[nope. still no sign of Kaidan. Manabu's starting to worry; Tadashi didn't have any numbers as to how many people were affected by that haphazard experiment, and that didn't bug him much until he realized he hadn't heard from the few people he could call friends around here.

he's had pretty good luck just serendipitously running into Kaidan whenever he has a chance to pop back into this town, but this is try number two, and still no dice.

he's on the other side of the street when he finally decides to just call, lifting the communicator from his pocket and sifting through to find Kaidan's contact in there. there it is.]

[ Getting back to Heropa even as children wasn't a big deal, a few near-misses aside -- a quick stop at a shop and flashing their IDs meant they didn't have too much trouble getting clothes to fit them. The most inconvenient thing by far, though? Is getting around. Much to Shepard's annoyance, a bike designed for a fully-grown man doesn't operate so well when it's being steered by a child... not that it's stopping him from trying, though.

Which means there's a skinny, pasty-white blonde boy grimly straddling a hoverbike and trying to nudge it along a few inches from ground level, trying to coax it to go higher but the sensors refusing to respond to what is, to its mind, entirely too little weight. After a while, Shepard starts bouncing on the seat in frustration. ]

Come on, you stupid piece of junk--

[ a park somewhere ]

[ Being a child is odd. Shepard remembers being an adult, remembers beating Saren and Sovereign, and essentially flipping the Illusive Man the bird when he walked away from the Collector Base, but right now, there are more pressing things: like discovering he has slight hay fever, and that climbing things is a lot of fun.

It's weird, being in a place with real gravity, and Shepard can't get enough of it, wiping his nose off with little care for hygiene on the sleeve of his hoodie and clambering up trees and playground equipment. It's not entirely pointless fun and games -- observers might note that he carefully checks the time on his watch every time he successfully completes one of his mental circuits, before he does it all over again.

When he's finally too exhausted to keep running around anymore, he's easy to find napping in the shade, soaking up the bright, warm sunlight with little regard for things for mere mortals such as sun protection. He's not alone, though. Taking advantage of its owner's inactivity, a slightly overweight hamster has crawled out of Shepard's pocket and curled up on his stomach. ]

ON THE STREETS

[Roy has been watching Shepard trying to get the hoverbike started for a while, more out of interest for how the bike works than the spectacle of a kid trying to ride a bike meant for adults. A few times he thinks he might be getting close, but his excitement is quickly cut down when the bike still refuses to move or go any higher.

Fianlly, unable to help himself any more, Roy steps forward.]

De Chima, spring festival
[ It happens almost all at once. He feels his body grow weaker, pains forming in places that he never knew he had before. Dorian doesn't realize what was happening until he looked down at his hands: wrinkled, covered in liver spots, shaking slightly.

No. Not again.

He manages to suppress the cry of rage that springs up in his throat. Something had happened, someone had happened, whether it was the damn Hornets or somebody trying to get their kicks by fucking with everyone, someone had happened and oh, Dorian was going to make them pay. How dare they change him like this, how dare they ruin his body, how dare they take away the thing that was most important to him. He was old, he was disgusting, he was weak and feeble and ugly. And, on top of all that, he was mad.

As he spotted someone who he knew as an imPort (be it somebody he knew personally or someone whose face he had seen around the network—or, some child who was too freaked out about all this in a rather unchildlike way), Dorian slowly made his way towards them, scowl on his lined face. And really...he looked so far from the Dorian Gray the imPorts knew. His body was bent with age and he looked unplaceably old, an old that reflected his truer age more than the youthful veneer he constantly showed. His clothes were the fit and flashy style that Dorian favored but they looked so out of place on Dorian's bent, bitter, body. And, in a voice that sounded quite different from his old voice, he slowly asked, through gritted teeth, ] Tell me you know who did this to me.

Heropa
[ After shooting off texts to like EVERYBODY basically saying 'you really don't want to see me, leave me alone until this is done,' Dorian's retreated back to Heropa #2. It's easy to get his housemates to ignore him—the only one he believed would care enough about this was Anita, and he thankfully hadn't run into her just yet. But all this is teaching him one thing: he really needed a place of his own. Things like this would happen again, things where something happened to him that he didn't want people to see. Whether it was Kaneki biting off his hand or him growing old and decrepit and ugly, he needed a place to himself.

But that would happen later. Right now, Dorian was wallowing in his own self-pity, simply sitting in front of his portrait, watching it, as if he could spot any change (he couldn't, which was damn annoying.)

However...he didn't really take into account that when you sent off frantic texts saying 'don't bug me under any circumstances,' people might take that as an invitation to bug you because something's obviously up. Dorian, in all his fervent denials, hasn't entirely realizes that people a: might care about him and b: might investigate what was happening to cause those denials in the first place.

Whoops. ]

[Winry still remembered Dorian. And she still cares about him. Even is she is much younger than she was the last time she saw him. So she bangs on the door to his house, and waits for him to open it.]

[ john usually has no business that brings him to de chima. unfortunately he drew the short straw at work and found himself grudgingly travelling to heropa's sister surgery in the city. it's mid-afternoon by the time he finally manages to escape and enjoy the city he has rarely seen before. in the end, the tedious work and, coupled with the fact he's missed his train, is what factors into his decision to attend the spring festival and have a beer while waiting for the next train to arrive.

when six o'clock rolls around, john doesn't realize anything is amiss until it's already happened. he suddenly fumbles with the plastic cup and drops it on the ground. tutting at his own clumsiness, he crouches down to pick it up and discovers that a relatively simple action is actually... well, rather a little difficult.

Heropa, various locations (all days)

[ a little thing like rapidly aging up into his late seventies doesn't deter john from carrying out his daily routine. well, attempting to carry on like usual: work gave him time off once he finally managed to convince him that he was in fact john watson and he works diligently on trying to get his blog up and running at home.

when he does venture outside, he can be found in a nearby thrift shop trying on large glasses and trying to improve his failing eyesight. other times, he's buying himself a coffee and enjoying it in one of the parks... or he could be holding up local traffic on his hovervepsa.

basically, anywhere that john watson frequently haunts, there's an elder gentlemen who looks remarkably like him in his place. ]

[A little girl with a Border Collie is walking through the park when she sees an older gentleman sitting on the bench where she'd been planning on sitting. Well, she can take the far end, right?

So she smiles at him and sits at the end of the bench, pulling a tennis ball out of her jacket pocket. Zoey (the dog) goes on alert, focused on the ball in Winry's hand.]

Waaaait. [She says, slowly. Zoey crouches but doesn't move as Winry throws the tennis ball.]

[Zoey bounds off after the ball, scooping it off the ground and running back, though instead of giving it to Winry, she drops it in John's lap instead.]

[There’s a lot of questions going through Clark’s mind right now. Namely: where is he? Who are all these people? And why the hell is he under some sort of enormous, cheap-looking suit?

At least the suit came with a belt, so by using the last hole on it and rolling up the end of his trousers he manages to be able to walk around without tripping everywhere… and without being completely naked. The jacked makes him look like a kid playing dress up with his father’s clothes but honestly? It looks like he isn’t the only one in this situation so he’ll take it. So there’s a black-haired kid with incredibly blue eyes peking from behind some thick glasses trying to get around in a suit that’s plenty sizes too big. He glances at the notebook he had on his hand, pushing the now-too-big glasses up his nose as he tried to read the scribbles on it. Apparently someone (he?) had been writing about some sort of festival. He kind of remembers that! The taste of an apple is clear on his mind, as is the sound of some sort of…bell…

Clearly his memories aren’t going to be of any help. So he looks around- might as well ask.]

[So this is where he supposedly lives, hm? Okay, it looks…

Bad. It honestly looks bad. He’s only lived in Smallville for all his life (except that feels wrong, somehow? Like he’s lying even though he really isn’t) so big cities are already kind of a shock when he’s alone, let alone a city like this one. He’s managed to buy jeans and a blue sweater with the money he found in the suit’s wallet, and he’s glad he got one with a hood so he can hide his face under it. This place looks like it reeks of crime, like those cities his parents always warned him about when he wanted to travel and visit every single place in the world.

It all happens so fast.

There’s some kids playing, there’s a road, there’s a car that comes rushing… and Clark is in the middle of the road without giving it a second thought. He raises a single hand and in the next second the car is wrecked, both the kids and the crooks that had stolen the car are running away…

And Clark’s just left hoping no one has seen him do that. Oops.]

De Chima Spring Festival (Before & After)
[Tea had never been to a real festival before just for the hell of it. She'd infiltrated and used some as cover for missions, but it wasn't the same. Even when trying to enjoy it, she knew she was on the clock. It's different this time. And all she had to do was hand of a can to get in? At least she's not wasting money.

So she plays some games, rides a few rides, and keeps a look out for anyone she wouldn't mind flirting with or trying to convince to win her one of those dumb booth prizes--

--until there is a really uncomfortable sound going off and she's suddenly shorter, her clothes are baggy and her shoes don't fit anymore. She actually trips mid-step, her feet sliding in her now too big open-toed heels and lands right on her ass.]

What the hell?

[Anyone going by will see a petite teenage girl with long blonde hair, a once tight outfit that is too loose--especially in the chest area--kicking off her shoes in an angry huff. Hopefully no one gets hit by one of those when she puts more force into it that she should.]

Maurtia Falls (Later)
[All of her pants need belts now, her shirts are so baggy it's ridiculous and she's not even bothering to try putting on her uniform. She hadn't realized how much she's been grown until now and the only reason she hasn't cut her hair is that she hasn't found Kryptonian grade scissors. Tea's mood is sour enough to curdle milk at this point, because looking like a certain someone is the furthest from what she wants. The fact she has to walk around in public like this for however long it takes to fix is the worst.

She really hopes Maurtia Falls' nightlife delivers because she wants to punch things. Tea maybe even intentionally heads out into shadier, less policed places at night, looking like a young girl wandering lost, hoping to find some crime going on. Not like she needs the justification, but she's hoping to catch more flies this way.]

[That may have been a shoe thrown by a Kryptonian, but Hal has his ring which prevents it from hitting him with the full force of one. He still yelps, a shoe hitting him out of nowhere is an odd enough occurrence when he hasn't even done anything.

[ And then there were a twelve year old not!Mountie and a six month old not!wolf dozing under a tree in one of De Chima's parks. Fraser hadn't realised he was tired, but all of a sudden he'd just switched off, fallen asleep, dozing in the spring sunlight happily. Dief had curled up close beside him, and they'd slept an hour or so, making him late for meeting Ray to pick up on their local surveillance.

He felt much better after his nap, and sat up slowly, drowning in his overlarge clothes. The only thing that seemed to fit at all was his hat, and--why was he dressed as a Mountie? And where was he? This wasn't the great frozen north by any stretch of the imagination. In fact it was unseasonably warm, and his serge coat was itchy around his face. His feet were stuck uncomfortably in boots that came up just past his knees and...

Was that a wolf?

He scrambled urgently to get away from the wolf, and stared at it from a distance. And then of course someone blundered in on the moment, and Fraser moved to intercept. To protect them of course. ]

No sudden moves! Just keep your distance. He may be young, but he could still give you a nasty bite. [ Said the confused but valiant boy in the oversized Mountie outfit. No big deal. ]

[ Ray knew something was up the second Fraser was late. Late. Hah, that pretty much meant the world was coming to an unreasonable end and Ray only had minutes left to live his life. Minutes he was spending to look for a man blazing in red. Or perhaps he'd found himself trapped or fallen into a ravine or.. who knows. But something was infinitely, incredibly, super duper shit-tastically wrong. (And something in the distance smelled rank.)

So, he was looking.

Driving fast through the streets, tires squealing, Ray was halfway leaning out of the GTO as he looked for flashes of red wherever he could. Endlessly swearing under his breath, he jammed on the horn any time someone slowed down a touch ahead of him, swerving dramatically and all but giving old ladies the finger.

Okay, so he was being dramatic. Sue him. But all of a sudden up ahead there was a flopping of red fabric by a tree and Ray found a spot to park almost instantly, tumbling out of the car and scrambling his feet on the sidewalk, bolting through the grass only to find... a little guy. Short. Little. Wearing Fraser's clothes.

Ohhhhh, shit. Shit. Shit shit shit. And apparently he thought- well actually, Ray didn't know what the fuck was going on. But all of a sudden the little... Fraser? threw an arm up that thwacked him across the legs and stopped him only because he should... respect the sentiment. ]
