[ LET'S GET THIS PARTY OFFICIALLY STARTED! Opening events so we don't do too much comm flooding (although people are welcome to make their own posts for the event). You're welcome to toplevel with your character if you'd like to have them show up somewhere else for this plot.

[ It doesn't take so very long to recognize Riku. How many others have hair like that? Or eyes? But that recognition doesn't translate to friendliness. Because she remembers him helping her, saving her, really, fighting to help her. But is that a real memory? It feels like something from some other life. It has the disconnect of something faked. Something invented. Something wrong. She feels in her bones that it's just something someone implanted into her mind, something someone wants her to think. But why? Why would they care about her trust for this boy? Why would they want her to believe in him? Or is it deliberate at all, is this actually something real and not something invented, is it a lie or is it reality -

She wants to scream. Just seeing his face is enough to make her want to grip her hair and scream, shrill and loud, until her throat bleeds. She hates this. She absolutely hates it. She's trapped by her own uncertainty, and she hates feeling trapped. ]

Hello, Riku.

[ She tilts her chin up in greeting. It's a sort of affected gesture, the gesture of a girl trying to look old and self-confident and mature. ]

You were hit too, then?

... Yeah.

[He doesn't say anything for a moment -- his memories haven't been messing with him as hers have with her, so he raises an eyebrow at the way she looks at him. Something about her is off, but he's not sure quite what it is just yet.]

Though I think I'm littler than most people ended up.

[He moves, takes a seat at the edge of the bench. He's not sitting close -- in fact, he's sitting as far as he can to the side without falling off. He has to half-jump to get up, and once he's settled, he frowns at the way his feet just barely contact the ground. Riku looks back up at Kitty after a long moment.]

... You feeling okay?

I'm fine.

[ Kitty Jones, older, would give the same answer, but she would respond to that question with a quiet sort of warmth. She'd be grateful that Riku asked, not because she likes to be fussed over but just because she would feel glad that there's some element of closeness between them. Kitty Jones the younger answers brusquely, tersely. Tightly. She's scared and vulnerable and that manifests as hardness. ]

Do we know what caused it yet?

[resipiscent]

[The way she replies to him pitches another flag in his mind, and he looks down at the ground for a long moment, rolling this around in his brain and trying to figure out what's up with her. She's so different... did something happen? She doesn't seem to have lost her memories, after all.]

I'm not sure. I haven't really... asked anyone, to be honest. I was thinking I'd take a few minutes on the communicator later, though, see if anyone found something out.

[ She gives a stiff little nod. ]

Yeah. Okay.

[ She's quiet a moment. Then, tensely: ]

It shouldn't have worked on me, you know. Whatever it is that changed our ages. I've got resilience. So it shouldn't have affected me at all.

[resipiscent]

Right, your power. I wonder... if it wasn't a power or something, then? Conventional things still affect you. It could have come through the nanites.

[He lifts his wrist to demonstrate. Skinny as it is, the tattoo there is still bright.]
