WHEN: Sometime around the weekend of the 18th-20th (a little wibbly wobbly because some participants are Finland-bound)

North has spent about the last week checking and triple-checking all the armor and guns for the tournament, making sure that everything was fair and even (and at Theta's insistence making sure that an AI without its own body could ride shotgun), and now the day of reckoning is upon him. Despite the amount of screaming internally going on, he's hoping it'll go well! Maybe! Ideally! Or at least well enough that he won't either a) lose his job or b) have to pay for damages to the arena.

"Now, I'm not going to be cocky and pretend like this is just the first of many tournaments in the future. but if it all goes well and people want it, I'll be willing to host it again. Anyway, thank you all for signing up and coming out. I'm North; I'll be the referee for the tournament. Everybody's going to get the same armor and the same guns, but don't worry, the locker room will be locked during matches so those of you who brought your own armor aren't going to need to worry about tampering. I've assigned you all a color-"

"And team name!" chimes in the tiny AI who appears hovering next to North's shoulder, proud as can be.

"And team name," North agrees. "Every shot that hits a teammate will be counted at the end of the match and will count against your final score. Play nice, play fair, and most importantly have fun."
