[ There's something about working with the kids that Kanan finds fulfilling in a way he never would've thought possible, even a few years ago. But knowing he's making a difference in their lives, helps him too. Helps him deal with some of the grief and loneliness, at least.

And he does love them. Ezra is different, of course, but he's got more than enough room in his heart for all of the kids he looks after.

Today, he's just scrubbing some dishes after lunch, because the dishwasher is broken and it's easy and he can use a bit of a break, clearing his head. And of course, he can sense when someone else enters the room, no matter how quiet they are. ]

Suddenly, everyone keeps blurting out things they shouldn't...

WHAT: A body dump gone awry
WARNINGS: murder, dead people, you know the drill

[Gangstering, at least the kind of gangstering that Alfie does, doesn't actually involve as much murder as one might think. Often, his deals go smoothly, and even when they don't, trickery, well-timed threats, or other sorts of punishment can be smarter and more effective than jumping straight to killing the people that he clashes with. But Alfie is a firm believer that someone in his line of business must always be prepared to kill, even if it won't actually end up happening nine times out of ten. And that, to make a long story short, is why he's down by the Maurtia Falls canal at half past one in the morning, truck quietly idling nearby as he dumps the bodies of Eddie Brink and Lionel Grossman into the water.

It's an atypical situation, really. But when a rival criminal had heard through the grapevine that Alfie had just received a rather large delivery payment from a client, and had responded by sending a couple henchman to break into his apartment and liberate that payment... well. That's not the sort of situation that one responds to with trickery or threats. That's the sort of situation where one makes an example of the henchman, thereby giving their boss a powerful sign that some people are not to be fucked with.

At home, Alfie is big and powerful enough that he has people who do his body dumps (and, often, his killings) for him. That's not the case here. He isn't nearly as entrenched in Maurtia Falls as he'd been in London, partially by design and partially due to circumstance (he's been here for two and a half years, sure, but he's still an imPort) - and even beyond that, he doesn't really have anyone that he trusts enough to do this kind of thing for him; not unless they're tangled up in it too somehow. He has associates that are loyal to him, but he's not so naive to think that they don't all have other associates that they're more loyal to. So here he is, alone at night, sliding two tarp-covered corpses into the water. They were clean kills, with minimal clean-up involved. It could have been worse.

With any luck, no one will spot him heading back to the truck parked suspiciously close to the canalside.]

WHAT: SWEARING-IN TIME, on the beautiful Island of New Zealand, Sacrifice Island.

Welcome everyone to Sacrifice Island, once known as “Death Island” (and still called so by many). Located in the beautiful country of New Zealand, and under their government’s jurisdiction, Sacrifice Island is a place where investigation and scientific development happens: it’s the headquarters for Onward Research Station, laboratories that hope to learn how to neutralize the effects on humans/animals of chemical/biological weapons.

But this island holds dark history as well. It was in this very same place that seven young imPorts permanently lost their lives on October 3rd 2008. This tragedy deeply marked the history of United States and all Heroes of the nation, and is remembered with heavy heart. With hopes to never forget these painful events but to also look for a brighter future, United States of America and New Zealand both joined their hands and decided to raise a memorial for the lives lost at the island.

This memorial will be inaugurated on the 13th January along with the Swearing-In ceremony for the new heroes who have arrived this month. Media has been invited as well as this is too a political event to strengthen relationships between New Zealand and USA. Old and new imPorts are all welcome to come and pay their respects to the Heroes who are gone, swear their allegiance to the US government (or not), forge relations with a foreign country or simply show their presences during this event. Whatever reason one has, they will be welcomed.
