WHO: Kaneki/Sasaki + YOU
WHERE: All imPort cities
WHEN: All through November
WHAT: Catch-all for Sasaneki
WARNINGS: Mentions of cannibalism, gore and violence. Sasaneki's arms and legs currently look like this and his tattoo is located on his neck and it says "Unregistered".
OPEN ; Books and library
[ One of the things that feels most natural for Kaneki is to read, reading is not just a hobby but something that Kaneki always did in order to feel normal, peaceful, happy, or simply to gather his thoughts or to learn. He relies on books a look, even for things he needs to learn in practice – such as farming.
The House in Nonah is a farm, and Daryl has a lot of plans to actually farm the land, have animals and become sort of self-sufficient. While it IS a great idea in Kaneki’s opinion, he himself doesn’t know A THING about farming. So the best way to learn is to read about it, in his opinion. And the library is the best place to find books on farming, of course.
Once inside the building, kaneki will pick a variety of books; as much as he can, actually, eventually carrying a huge pile. It’s not difficult to carry them because he is strong enough, but it’s difficult to see where he is going. So either he bumps into someone inside the library, either he bumps into someone as he is coming out of the building – he does bump into someone and the books just fall all over the floor ]
S-sorry! [ he should have brought bags or something. ] I wasn’t watching where I was going…!
OPEN ; Free samples
[ Food. He has such issues with food and yet Kaneki really does love cooking. It was a big part of his daily life the past three years since he cooked for his subordinates, and as now Hinami-chan can eat human food too, he cooks for her – also for any of his friends who want a meal, of course. So that means he needs to go shopping for the month.
Kaneki avoids supermarkets because of how busy they are, and usually sticks to local markets that sell different kinds of food; these are usually a lot better, he thinks, or at least the products look much nicer (it’s not like he can actually taste them). Of course, the sellers try their best to have a hero buying from them and even offer free samples of their pastries and fruits, hoping Kaneki will love them and buy ]
I don’t eat, I’m sorry. [ but that melon bread looks pretty nice and the man is offering free sample so- Kaneki just turns to the first person he sees, waving lightly ] I’m sorry, could you taste this for me?
SEMI-OPEN ; ”The group” House
[ After he spent the first couple of nights sleeping wherever someone would let him, eventually Kaneki headed to the House. It’s only called the “house” just like the group is only called “the group”, but he never really demanded a better designation and he isn’t about to do so. He is thankful as it is that Daryl and the others allowed him to sleep there (sure, Daryl says he is part of the group, but when you are Kaneki – a cannibal half-human-half-ghoul - you constantly wonder when others will decide that the cannibal needs to go). Plus, to be honest, he doesn’t exactly know anyone else from the group, and they should probably have a saying in this, too-
But that will something to worry about in the future. Right now, Kaneki IS at the house and after he slept for nearly two days straight, he wakes up feeling refreshed enough to act like a normal living being, even if he still doesn’t look like one (and won’t for a while). Kaneki’s arms and legs are still completely missing and so with the use of his powers (the kagune) he is replacing them, which makes him look like he came out of some eldritch horror story; while they do look awkward and clumsy and probably sort of gross, he is pretty good with them, enough that he can actually /cook/ using those things.
In fact, that IS exactly what he is doing. Though Kaneki can’t eat, he does love to cook since it relaxes him, and after waking up he decides cooking pancakes for everyone is the best way to start the day. It was a bit tricky at first thanks to his weird-shaped hands, but once he got the hang of it, Kaneki seems to be at ease – and some pancakes are ready to be eaten, too, currently pilling up on a plate as he finishes the rest while in front of the kitchen stove. ]

DEADSHOT / Floyd Lawton
That's where he is headed right now. There was a small café just around the corner, which not many people seemed to notice, and yet they did the best iced coffee in the city; it didn't look like the most warming of places, but people were friendly as well - specially if you are an imPort. of course walking around the city while his hands look like claws earns Kaneki many stares, but he doesn't see, to care all that much, focusing on his path- until he seems a familiar not too far away from him.
Ah- his name... Floyd, right? They had agreed to have coffee eventually, once the man settled in (and found his booze). Kaneki decides it's only polite to say hello and ask him how he is doing, so he will try to approach the man with a smile ] Oh- hello! Mr. Floyd Lawton, right? [ that was the name over the communicator ] We met over the network.
no subject
Oh, woah, the tech dude? [He raises an eyebrow as he takes it all in. He owed this kid a coffee. Could he even hold the freaking cup? Maybe he should get him one of those big cups that don't crush easily.] Ken Kaneki, right? Well, aren't you a surprise with all of this going on.
[He gestures at the whole of Kaneki because seriously, dude? Next time, give a heads up. A lot more people are a lot easier to freak out and he didn't want this kid to get shit over it. He seemed pretty all right so far, no reason to wish him harm.] I like it. It works for you. Nice look, kid.
no subject
This is the life of a shounen hero).kaneki isn't at all surprised with the man's reaction, and he is probably a bit more than used to it by now. So even if Floyd looked completely freaked out, he'd still just smile and nod and try to explain somewhat. Not that he has a decent explanation to offer, as it'd involve convulsed things such as his nature and a lot of biology-science related to his world alone, but her - kaneki has tried before and people somewhat accepted the explanation. ]
Ah- I'm not really that savvy with technology. [ he knows enough to get by. But still he nods ] Yes. Sorry - I know it's a bit of a shock in person, but this is temporary. [ pro...bably. He isn't 100% sure of it, but he'll continue to say that so it'll relax others a bit. And himself, too, claws for hands are a pain. ]
Thank you, though. It can be a bit of a pain because - [ he moves his "fingers" (they aren't exactly fingers) ] - you won't imagine how hard it is to get dressed with hands like this.

JAMES P. MARCH [ att ; cannibalism and other gross things ]
Naturally they didn't take into account that Kaneki is now very willing to do illegal things. He can go to morgues, hospitals, medical facilities and laboratories, medical schools, cemeteries and steal bodies from there. All of those are illegal, but at least he doesn't have to be registered. If the government has complaints, they can either stop the absurdity that is forcing people to pledge loyalty to them in exchange for food, or then they can try and catch Kaneki for his acts -but they won't be able to, though.
While Kaneki can certainly resort to any of the ways just mentioned, another way is to steal bodies from crime-scenes. He is not someone who is down for murder of humans, but this is a much easier way to get a body and he wouldn't have to worry about security, plus crimes happen all the time, and it's a source of food in the end.
And recently he did find what it looks like a body-dump site.
At first, Kaneki thought it was just a one-time crime, and took the body for him to feed on it. When he returned a second time, ANOTHER body was there and again he took it. By the third visit (currently happening), he found yet another body, which he decided not to take this time - he already has two bodies, and a ghoul only needs to eat a body or two a month.
Kaneki stays there, thought, decided to at least munch on what he can. He places his hands together and bows his head respectfully, thanking the victim (it only feels right), before he cuts an arm and sits down to eat the fingers quietly. Whoever is dumping the bodies isn't doing a good job at hiding them, though; the police will find this place sooner or later. ]
no subject
But then it just...never comes up. Ever. So he resolves to return with another.
When he finds nothing where he left it, March is confused. Eventually he waves it away as some fluke. Predators must have found it. Or someone with unsavory interests. But most likely a starving animal (or group of animals). Surely the second time is the charm.
The second time is not the charm. What in the hell! Where are the bodies going? Or are they being found and not reported because no one wants to go through that? What is going on?
By the time Ken is grazing, March has gone from confused to outraged to absolutely intrigued. The thought that's he's entered into a game of cat and mouse with an equal has fluttered through. It's given him all sorts of ideas. He's hoped that would be the case. How great would it be to make a friend like that?
This evening, he does not come with another body. He comes with himself. He has dressed down, slacks and a jacket, scarf wrapped around his neck. He never needs to stand out when it comes to these sorts of trips, but that doesn't give him an excuse to dress like a damn slob. It's helpful, his abilities. But if he's quite obviously him, then he's a fucking idiot.
His approach is inaudible. He goes from being nowhere and then he's right there, a good bit away from Ken (enough to give either of them a head start if they choose to run) but close enough to see what's going. Who has the munchies.
Well, that's. Hm. March moves to withdraw a pack of cigarettes from his front pocket.]
Have you been eating all my hard work?
[There is no anger or frustration in his tone. He's straight up amused.]
no subject
Kaneki was finishing eating the last finger of the hand when he hears someone and his head immediately rises to look back at March. His left eyes turns black and red immediately and for a moment he doesn't move an inch, simply releasing the arm and letting it fall down on the ground. He waits, as if expecting something more from March.
Horror, terror, anger, disgust, or at least a comment about the fact that he literally was sucking on a finger just now. But the comment makes it clear that March is the one who has been dropping the bodies here, and also that he seems far too amused with this situation.
Kaneki's best friends are serial killers. He has never killed anyone gleefully and he doesn't want to kill anyone, but it's a fact of life; his friends are all killers and they often murder people in order to feed or just for fun (Tsukiyama comes to mind) and while Kaneki would never give them a gold star for it, he isn't about to fight the world to stop murder. His plan is pretty different from that, and it's full of hope and safety for the ghouls, but murder will still happen no matter where you turn head to; that's why March murdering people for whatever reason isn't going to be something that Kaneki will openly criticize and honestly care about too much. Plus, it's not as if this person is a ghoul, and it's not as if Kaneki is a police officer anymore.
Also. This is a source of food, even if it came from murders (it's not as if these murders are happening because of kaneki or FOR Kaneki, anyway) ]
... Perhaps you should find a better place to hide your "hard work" next time.

HINAMI FUEGUCHI
Of course he doesn't want Hinami to relive things like that, so he won't bring it up unless asked, and he won't say a word about Hinami's mother. what he can do, however, is to grab some of the pancakes and syrup he made earlier, milk with honey and french toast. Chances are she won't eat all of it, but he wants to give her plenty of choices.
Once all is set on a platter, he grabs it and moves to Hinami's room, knocking at her door and waiting to hear her ] Hinami-chan, are you awake?
no subject
Yes. You can come in.
[ hinami had elected to stay home from school, because there was no way that today of all days she'd be able to handle it. laying in bed sulking isn't the way to handle it either, but... she just can't find the will to do anything, not today. she hasn't so much as changed out of her pajamas.
add in the strangeness of being in a new place once again and...she just feels off-kilter all over. she tries to smile when Kaneki comes in, but it's obvious she didn't sleep well and isn't all there today. ]
no subject
Made some pancakes. I didn't know if you were hungry. [ he is sure she's going to tell him no, but he will try to offer her something anyway. Food makes people feel better, or so that's what most people who eat normal food say. But the food is only an excuse, Kaneki wants to make sure Hinami isn't alone today. ]
How are you feeling, Hinami-chan? [ terrible, he knows. But if she wishes to talk about it, he will listen, of course. ]

House!
No. No, she should wash her pot and mug, dry them, put them away, and try this again. She does that, giving herself time to attempt to formulate a response other than simply walking in the opposite direction. Not a Walker (because there's not enough brain function for cooking), not a kaiju (kaiju would not cook pancakes and they're pancakes). She puts her cup away. She searches Daryl's memories and calms.
"Ah," she finally says, though it comes out apprehensive, "your pancakes smell very good. I don't think I've met you in person yet. It is Kaneki-san?" Her fingertips touch the counter top. "I am Mako Mori."
no subject
when she finally speaks, there is some relief on Kaneki's face. "Ah... Mako-san- yes. Daryl mentioned you." literally just mentioned, he didn't tell Kaneki absolutely nothing else but her name. "it's nice to meet you" he bows his head a little as a greeting, and eventually remembers to put the frying pan back on the stove.

Late November because Daryl is a dick
It wasn't exactly intentional, but between his job, the safehouse project, his habits, and hobbies, Daryl had ended up avoiding Sasaki (Keneki?) for the majority of the month.
This morning, however, he walked into the kitchen, blood stains on his shirt (far too close to the collar to be normal blood splatter, some was even on his neck like it'd dripped there and the majority had been wiped away) and a duck by the legs in one hand. He'd heard the kid banging around in there before he came in, so he was prepared to see him and didn't have any apparent reaction to doing so. Just made sure to give him room while he pulled out the big cutting board and a bucket and set himself up in one corner of the room to pluck and butcher the bird. On the floor.]
Mornin'.
[At least he was being cordial?]
thank you Daryl
intense smells are terrible for a ghoul. In fact, Sasaneki and most ghouls live their lives surrounded by awful smells thanks to their biology - pancakes are exactly the same, and to him they smell and it's sort of terrible just like any other food he cooks, but Kaneki has grown accustomed to it. However, that means whenever a smell that he can recognize as anything other than "gross" appears, he is quick to pick on it. He is never going to tell a person that they smell good, but it's the fact that humans DO, that makes it easier for kaneki to tell that someone is about to enter or pass by the kitchen. His hearing also helps since ghouls are sort of like dogs when it comes to sounds, but being surrounded by grossness and suddenly a sweet smell appears has a bigger effect on the ghoul. Sorry Daryl- (things he probably doesn't want to know).
But that means it's not so surprising when daryl comes in. Sasaneki looks over his shoulder, spots the duck, and decides it's really not his place to comment on... that... but wouldn't it be better to pluck it somewhere it won't make a mess? Like outside? Not that he is an expert, Sasaneki is a city kid and never actually saw how a duck is butchered. ]
Good morning.
Do you want some pancakes? [ probably not, as Daryl is busy, but he still asks regardless ]

mid to late november
(Of course... at the time she thought nothing of it because she's seen walkers and a talking cat, but seeing it now?)
She stops in place to take it in for a moment and let her surprise pass. Once it subsides a little, she swallows the rest of it and approaches casually as can be, not allowing herself to stare anywhere but straight.]
Good morning. [She offers that in simple greeting over leading with the question of who he was. She already knew his name, after all. The rest of getting to know each other would work itself out, she figures.]
