FANPORT JUNE 2017

WHO: ImPorts!
WHERE:Nonah Convention Center
WHEN: June 23-25, from 9 AM - 12 AM every day.
WHAT: Registration is in motion alongside FanPort, the most popular imPort convention around! Come on in and see imPort-led panels, the artist's alley, cosplayers, and more! If you have any questions, or wish to amend the way we have written up your characters' panels, let us know here!
WARNINGS: None anticipated; please let us know if this should be changed.

Locals, imPorts, come one and all to FanPort, the annual gathering of imPorts and imPort enthusiasts! Registration volunteers are wrangling the long, long lines wrapping outside the convention center, but attendees are passing the time by competing in a contest sponsored by a local radion station: to create the best imPort-themed viral video clip and post it to social media! #PowersPower #Fandemonium #FanPortVIP

Unless they choose to mingle, as guests of honor, imPorts get to skip the line, receive a gold-trimmed IMPORTANT badge and be escorted through a secure entrance into the convention center proper. But there's no escaping the crowds once they're inside, you will be rubbing shoulders. This year's FanPort is seeing record attendance, and the venue is swarming with enthusiastic con-goers. Once they make their way past an impromptu welcoming committee of squealing fans, imPorts can explore...

ARTIST'S ALLEY

The bustling ballroom is full to brimming of fans selling their creative wares. Hundreds of prints are available for purchase, featuring everything from Magnus Burnsides striking a heroic pose to an artful portrait of Dandy Mott in his study, with his tie unknotted and dribbling down his front. There's even an action crossover depicting the Blue Beetle versus Iron Man, or Jesse Pinkman dancing with Reggie Mantle. Crossover time!

Other tables feature 3-D creations, with maskets full of keychains, buttons, T-shirts, homemade plushies and more. If you can dream of it, it probably exists, and it would be a challenge to name an imPort without some kind of creative representation!

Some artists and fanfiction writers have teamed up to create doujinshi about various imPort couples. imPorts who are known to be seeing each other are likely to see a drawn version of their relationship in this section, but there are also true rarepairs that go against canon, like Lapis Lazuli/Shale, Frederick Chilton/Sam Merlotte, Kitty Jones/John Murphy, Danny Pink/Mitchell Hundred, Jessica Jones/Laurie Collins, Han Solo/Luke Skywalker, Count Dooku/Archie and Rusty Venture/Sadie Doyle. And some of these books are sultry! Outright SHOCKING. You really must buy a few, if only as gifts.

If you don't see what you want being sold already, there are plenty of commissioners who would leap at the chance to provide an imPort with a custom print or doll, just for them! Although some of the dolls getting in the way of the big, popular ships may just be used as voodoo dolls, so watch out!

COSPLAY CONTEST

What's a fan convention without cosplay? There's not a single room in the convention center that lacks multiple cosplayers, but many of them are in it to win it at the cosplay contest. Some have gone to store after store to buy just the right street clothes to accurately portray imPorts like Daryl Dixon and April Ludgate, but others are up for a challenge and are showing off incredible armor creation or sewing work with their Riptide, Maeve Millay, Jean Grey, Petyr Baelish, Doreen Green, and Kanaya Maryam costumes.

And what of imPorts who want to join in? There are only two rules: imPorts may not enter as themselves, nice try jerks, and nor are they allowed to use shapeshifting powers. Other than that, they're welcome to join in on the competitions and the festivities! There are awards being given for everything from Best Performer to Best Costume to Most Accurate Posing, so jump in, and enjoy! ImPorts ARE free to give their own input (or imPut! Haha! So funny!)

IMPORT HALL

Aside from the panels, this is where imports are welcomed as special guests! Above the entire affair is a huge sign that reads, cheerfully: "WELCOME IMPORTS!". Here, imPorts are welcomed to set up their own booths to sell their goods, autographs, and pictures, advertise their businesses, or to simply meet some of their fans! A special photo-op booth is available for imPorts who are game for one-on-one meetings but don't want to set up a booth. Security is tightest around this area, but only for the safety of imPorts; if any fans get a little too touchy-feely without the imPort's consent, rest assured, they'll be hauled out in short notice. There is also a special demonstration area, marked off with cones, where imPorts may show off crowd-appropriate powers for some oohs and aahs.

This is also the place where willing and participating imPorts are showered with special gifts featuring everything from fanmade scrapbooks of their public exploits and fanart, home baked goods, or samples from all sorts of corporate representatives eager to have imPorts represent everything from their makeup lines to their gas-buster pills.

REFRESHMENTS

Forget the generic, slightly stale burgers and fries most commonly found at convention centers. Just outside the venue is a series of imPort-inspired food trucks and stalls. Ready for some Persephone Paprikash? What about some Emmett Brown-ies for dessert? Delicious! And we can't forget the line of So Carbonated They'll Make You Tina Belcher craft sodas. imPorts get a discount if they show of their tattoos to prove they're not just fantastic cosplayers!

DESIGN-YOUR-OWN POWER STATION

This year's FanPort has a special charity room for imPorts who feel like doing some community outreach. Long-term patients at Nonah Children's Hospital who are well enough to travel have been brought to the con, where imPorts who sign up to volunteer will help them dream up their own powers, design their own superhero costume and dress up using a wardrobe of donated costume parts. Each child can then pose in front of a green screen with their favorite imPort to create a superhero team-up!

RAVE

The first two nights of the convention, attendees can get their groove on after hours! The grand hall is opened up to various imPort inspired acts, such as the Woden-inspired Welcome to Valhalla, the Yurio Plisetsky-inspired Ice Ice Babies, and the Stark family-inspired Kings of the North. All of these shows are complete with light shows and complimentary glow sticks, and once the clock hits past 9 PM, a bar opens up in the back for natives and imPorts alike, provided that they're of-age — and yes, they will be checking their IDs!

Want to get your rock on? These acts will gracefully step aside to allow imPort musicians to take the stage, but will respond even more happily to jam sessions.

An IC Question Meme Basically
[As a member of the Russian figure skating team at home, Yuri's always been known for looking impeccable at formal appearances, and today is no exception—mostly. Somewhere, somehow he managed to find a suit that actually looks normal until you notice the purple leopard print lining the jacket—where did he even find that?? At least it suits his style. He managed to coax Viktor into putting a waterfall braid in his hair to keep it off his face, and a few streaks of icy blue and lavender are woven throughout. And he's even managed to disguise how tired he is with the careful use of concealer, eye drops, and about three cups of espresso since waking up that morning.

Look, the important part is that he's made it to the Ice Skating Panel. Bonus points for managing to drag Viktor along with him! And he's here, ready and waiting to take whatever questions people have about skating, or the Russians, or any number of ridiculous questions panel attendees might have for them. Don't worry about it if he keeps stealing unreadable glances in Viktor's direction through the whole panel.]

BEHOLD!!!
[Yuri's exhibition, naturally, looks amazing. It certainly helps that the piece he picked is perfect for a problem ridden, stubborn teenager, but it's a testament to his own skill and knowing where his limits lie as well.

The slow start to the song gives him a chance to take it easy during the first part while he waits on endorphins and adrenaline to kick in and really wake him up. Even though his movements are a little sluggish and faltering at the start, it's easily played off as an intentional mirror of the staccato opening and almost melancholic opening lyrics. When the song begins in earnest he moves seamlessly into the impressive jumps, spins, and posing that the skaters are known for. His movements become more graceful and emphatic, punctuating the swells in music and lyrics better than any exclamation point ever could. Anyone watching closely enough can see how much he's pouring into the piece to. It speaks to him as much as he's using it to speak to the crowd—he will pick himself up; he will patch himself back together if he has to. It's easy to catch the way every time the pleading part of the chorus comes up, his attention is on Viktor.

After his part in the exhibition ends he hurries off the ice and retreats to the bench that security's blocked off for the trio of skaters to catch his breath and, more importantly, to give himself a chance to calm down. It took a lot to put that much emotion into a piece. In a lot of ways, it can be more exhausting than the physical performance itself, especially coming right on the heels of a week spent reeling from betrayal, lies, and one of his parental figures being sent home. So, if anyone does happen to approach the bench to talk with him afterwards, they'll find him resting his elbows on his knees, head in his hands while he takes deep breaths to center himself again.]

Can we go yet?
[Yuri is avoiding the most fan focused areas of the convention, instead opting to keep to the imPort Hall to give out signatures and photos with his fans. It's obvious he's used to this kind of treatment—he still has occasional outbursts at some of the more outrageous requests he gets, but he's actually somewhat decent at talking his fans out of signing their bodies and into sticking to merchandise. He's even managing most of the fans Viktor gets since the other skater seems to be...distracted, at best.

Other imPorts can demand a picture from him too, of course, or they can catch him during a slow period when he retreats to a bench to flip through bwitter posts on his phone or scowl sullenly out at the waiting crowds.]

Ugh...how much longer is this going to be?

Do not disturb
[But actually, do that. Later in the afternoon Yuri's sleep deprivation has finally begun to catch up with him, even after all the caffeine he's been drinking throughout the day. Fanport attendees might find him dozing on a bench somewhere around the Import Hall.

Or they might find a definitely normal bengal kitten cat napping in a patch of sunlight by one of the hall's windows. Perfectly innocent and not a sleeping imPort at all.]

Persephone - all prompts OTA

[personal profile] pummelgranite 2017-06-24 08:33 pm (UTC)(link)
IMPORT HALL: CERBERUS PIT

[ Persephone spends almost every moment of FanPort in her exhibition booth. Whether by her own magic, or the magic of her record company's money, her booth is made in a beautiful replica of a subterranean cathedral. Her throne at the far end is (or at least seems to be) carved from obsidian, and behind her is the dark, growling miasma of her hellhounds.

Snaking out of her booth is a long, long line of fans. At the wrong times of day, signs indicate that it's more than a two hour wait to see her. One or two at a time, the attendees are let in by security to approach her throne. Some brief, quiet words are exchanged, and then she directs them to kneel in front of her, at which point she will bend forward to whisper something into their ear. Reaction are mixed, but collapsing is common, screaming or fits of hyperventilation are as well. The stricken fan is then lead again by a staff member to a private grotto where a dozen or so certified therapy dogs have been put in cerberus costumes.

But no one, even those who were willing to camp out early, or wait for hours when the line is at its longest, can say what, exactly, they are all waiting to hear from her.
]

"Persephone's blessing? They're messages from dead loved ones."

"I heard she tells you how you're going to die."

"I heard she's telling people what'll happen to them after they die. And how to get out of it."

[ But hey, come in at the right times and the lines only 20 or so minutes. Maybe it's worth it to see what the big deal is . . . ? ]

ARTISTS' ALLEY

[ Busy as she is with her own booth, Persephone still takes advantage of those precious few hours when the expo hall is closed but AA remains open. She mostly wanders in silence, making the poor artists sweat bullets until their work is given the tiniest nod of her head.

There are, however, a number of pinup artists and purveyors of other raunchy work, just wishing that they'd get her stony silence.
]

No, no, I'm curious about your process here. Seems that nipples visible through shirts is a prominent theme in your work. What made you decide to draw the tits this way? Literally just curious.

[ She's smiling pleasantly and leaning in to the poor bastard's space. The artist stammers about "just for fun" and "it's what sells" and "it doesn't mean anything." She raises an eyebrow and waits for them to continue. ]

THE RAVE

[ Hell yeah Persephone's at the Rave. She is there and dancing from the moment it opens until everyone's kicked out. Because duh.

She doesn't take up any offer to jam, just letting the locals provide the sound for once. But there are a few times when she can't help but take up the spotlight with her dancing.
]

HOTEL PARTY

[ But as R. Kelly has told us, after the show is the after party. Despite being in the wee hours that the rave ends, it's a reasonably-sized entourage that follows Persephone across the street to her own hotel. They head straight for the lounge, losing anyone without a fake ID underaged. Once there, and all present are slumped into the plush booths of the lounge, the alcohol keeps flowing.

No one's too rowdy at this point, least of all Persephone herself. It's been a long day; she's distributed personal blessings to hundreds of people and then partied for hours. She's uncharacteristically sedate and sated as she pokes at her beautiful tuna tartare and over-priced cocktail.

(PANEL) BUSINESS FOR BEGINNERS: HOW IMPORT-RUN BUSINESSES CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE

The overview part of her panel is fairly simple and straightforward. As much as it pained Bela to do it she decided to go for a power-point presentation with charts and graphs showing her sales over the past two years. How some months performed better than others - she's actually quite honest with the figures. Rather than boring her audience members to death she kept the power-point to a minimum of five minutes. Enough time to explain what she wanted to and brief to keep her audience interested.

Before the Q&A session Bela took the time to talk to everyone, summarising her experience and lack thereof before coming here.

"Back home, I worked independently with business clients. Acquiring items that they were interested in- be it an antique clock or a rare comic book. I got paid to do a job and I did it. So while I knew some things about businesses and how they operated, I had never actually managed and ran one in my life. Naturally, it was a little daunting to be told that I was the owner of an antique shop when I arrived. The shop needed a makeover, stock, a new lease of life. I took my time over the first few months before I officially opened the shop to the public. I went to the library to check out guides on bookkeeping, overheads, balance sheets...you name it. Anything and everything to do with running a business."

A shake of her head. "I was clueless. Sure I had the background with antiques and basic sales, but that was about it. I also had to research my own stock! So I could inform my customers and help them choose what they like rather than push sales on them. I wanted to leave them happy in the hopes that they return another time for something else. Another thing I needed to learn was cataloguing. Keeping a record of all the stock I had according to item type, description and even year. It was difficult to manage at first because a lot of them fit into the same category."

Bela smiles, holding out her hands to emphasise her next few words.

"Despite the teething problems in the beginning I really believe the hard work and effort was worth it in the end. My business is doing well, the customers are happy and I'm happy. What else could I want?"

There's a brief pause.

"Now I am sure some of you are eager to ask some questions but I need to give you some guidance here. That's what I set out to do.

If you already have some business acumen, brilliant. A good start. That doesn't mean you shouldn't do your research or learn something that will help your business develop. Talk to people, go to the library, ask other business owners. Don't be idle. If it's your first time running a business, it will probably be harder. You may need to do a lot more research and take on more training - get someone who is good with numbers to help with your accounts. Don't be afraid to ask for help. And don't be disheartened if it doesn't work out at first. Keep trying.

As imPorts we should support each other as much as possible. This may be our home for an indefinite period of time and I am sure most of you would like to maintain a steady income. That support that we get from fellow imPorts is beneficial to the businesses we run. I think it could also improve the relations with the natives of this place. If we show them that we can work within their world and what we have to offer, then thatcan make a difference.

Organisation is important. Knowledge of your product and your target customers is important. Make your business appealing. It doesn't have to be luxurious, but if you want to have people coming back from for more, it needs to look good. You need to draw people in, make them feel welcome and appreciated. You're not only selling your stock or your skills, you're selling yourself. What makes you stand out from the crowd? Why should people come to your place of business and nowhere else? Those are the questions you should be asking yourself before embarking on your journey as a business owner."

She smiles again before dropping her hands to her sides, indicating that she was finished. Bela hopes that it came off well and not incredibly cheesy. Public speaking was not something she did a lot.

"Now I will take some questions from the audience."

RAVE:

Bela is here to dance the night away and drink. Not enough to get wasted but enough to put her in a good (and flirty) mood. She'll even go so far to make a necklace with matching bracelets out of glow sticks - even if they clash horribly with her outfit. Bela wants to fully embrace the rave experience and do as the other people do.

If you can't beat them, join them right?

Mitchell Hundred | OTA

[personal profile] viced 2017-06-24 11:04 pm (UTC)(link)
[A. Import Hall ]

For most of Fanport, Mitchell was found in the Hall. Half because he was a Senator, and that meant he should spend his time out and about, making friends, meeting people, shaking hands. He would reach out randomly, shake a hand and a: "Hey, I'm Mitchell Hundred, enjoying everything so far?" to whomever looked interesting enough. It went without saying that the politician was certainly playing the role, and not just because he had to.

The grin on his face said it all, really, he was happy to be here -- but very occasionally, people would walk by with a piece of art, or something else -- the kind of thing that spoke to the Senator's celebrity status and his face would fall a little. Whether it was a pinup, or some ship art -- someone had the idea to try to get him to sign it, and he frowned, and held up his hands in a very strict "no, sorry."

It wasn't that he wanted to keep people from doing it, but couldn't they... maybe not do it about him?

This was probably why he never even got close to Artist Alley, opting to avoid it entirely.

That didn't mean that the highlights couldn't be brought to him.

[ B. Panel ]

Mitchell's panel was, at its heart, boring. All about government, facts, an explanation of the basics of Western Democracy, historical facts, some stories, and then a lengthy Q&A with whatever Ambassadors agreed to come. He deferred to the others to speak -- the ones that had agree to come, but when asked questions, he'd start up and start going, if just to explain something in detail.

But really? It was just an opportunity to air grievences in public, if you so desired. Even Mitchell knew that, and it didn't mean that he didn't like it, but... he had to do it, right? At least if he wanted to keep people happy.

[ C. Wildcard Mitchell will be attending as many panels as possible when he's not in the hall, feel free to bother him after or before! ]

SPECIAL NEWS REPORT

[Nike had arrived early while accompanied by a crew from the television station she worked for. After all, she was one of the few imPort employees they had, so the idea of showcasing -- or rather showing off -- their weather girl that can actually sense and accurately predict the forecast was rare, if not has helped them become more popular.

She will be asked to take on the role as a temporary reporter once she has been changed into her imPort attire for the event. Easy enough to help her stand out from the crowd. Once she is given a microphone she'll head to any group of individuals -- both fans and imPorts alike -- to ask.]

Hey, there! I'm Nike Lemercier with HNBN. We're interested to hear your thoughts about this event. Is this your first time? Do you have a panel or will be showcasing any incredible talent? Would you like to give us a preview to showcase later?

PANEL Q&A AND CONCERT

[Nike was nervous. So very nervous in the beginning of her panel as she has never done a live performance ever since arriving to this world. The television station wasted no time in preparing her with all sorts of dance choreography that showcased her powers in a way that looked incredible with her levitation, wind, and weather abilities. The venue was special as the stage was in a very roman-esque theme with the roof being the type to open and reveal the beautiful blue sky. In her concert, Nike decided to sing her song to summon a white rainbow halo around the sun to begin her show. As she does it, she'll begin to dance around the stage before using her levitating abilities to do all kinds of maneuvers as though she were skating -- while the stage below her will begin to open to reveal a fountain -- over water. She will use her powers to create colorful geysers by using her wind currents to create the conditions for it, doing all sorts of acrobatics in the air, asking the audience to sing the lyrics found on the tv screens, until the sky darkens to reveal the sparkling rain falling over the top of the window.

But before she could reach the portion of her concert, Nike had to introduce herself as the fourth sovereign ruler of the Rain Principality known as Nike Lemercier. Explaining a little about her island nation filled with a royal family that believe in the idea of protecting their citizens and working together alongside them than allowing their people to do all the heavy lifting in their honor. They would work by planting seeds to create all types of gardens, take care of their forest, mountains, beaches, and lakes by using their powers to keep it all clean. An explanation in killing for food and the essentials. Never wiping out an entire species. Even the animals are needed for the ego system. The idea of living a "carefree and basic" lifestyle was essential in finding happiness.

She explains many philosophies containing about the world and the influences it has on all organic life forms and the way humans directly influence their locations as well. She explains about her duties as a rain summoner is to help the people by defending, protecting, and helping them find ways to release their burdens back to the planet. In order to gain a connection to one's surroundings, it was important to begin dialogue by doing little things like gardening, keeping a natural area clean from trash and pollution, helping the poor, and even simply by being kind to anyone that needs help without asking for anything in return. Working together with the purpose to keep one's surroundings clean and having a good relationship with both nature and all those in your surroundings is needed.]

Okay, I'm opening the floor for any questions! We'll begin our concert portion very soon!

SUPER HERO TEAM UPS

[It was easy enough to find Nike by the "design-your-own-super power" station for most of the event when she wasn't busy working. She was one of the few that was asked for by a handful of children and their parents. Nike was more than honored to be able to help the children create their own hero, make suggestions on clothing and powers, before the photo ops were taken with them. She made absolute certain to have them smile the brightest in every single picture with her.

After a while of entertaining those who asked for her, Nike will notice some of the children waiting for their favorite imPort to accept their request to have pictures taken with and other children had requests for team ups. Those will be the requests she will take without a second thought. Do expect her to search for the selected imPorts around the convention.]

Oh, hey, wait! I know you! Kinda. More like. I have a request to ask of you. Can you hear me out for a bit?

WILDCARD

If you want to do a specific thing with Nike and it ain't in this top level, then please hit me up at plurk as floralstone.

[Artists Alley]
[ Adachi had caught people calling it "hall 8", even though there weren't really "halls" in the ballroom. Apparently the reason was because there were eight stalls clustered together all for one singular purpose: selling Adachi and Viktor artwork. ]

[ He let out a heavy sigh as he stood at the entrance to the "hall", not sure if he should even enter or not. It didn't feel right, especially now that Yuuri was gone. Especially when the first thought he had when he found out Yuuri returned home was that maybe he had a chance now. It made him feel ill, and just looking at how many people supported it made him feel even worse. ]

[ Adachi let out a breath, catching sight of lines and lines of doujinshi and art prints, and closing his eyes as he turned away from it, stuffing his hands in his pockets. ]

[Panels: Skating (closed to Viktor)]
[ The Q&A session with the skaters had been difficult to watch. Viktor looked like a zombie, like he was just following whomever pointed him in a direction without a mind of his own. It was sickening to watch, and made his guilt over everything even worse. ]

[ It was watching Yuri's exhibition skate that turned his guilt into irritation, though. Even someone that was a novice when it came to expressing themselves on ice could see the message the kid was screaming out across the audiance loud and clear. He managed to pull his eyes away from the performace toward the end, searching out the crowd, because he had a feeling in his gut that was where he would find Viktor, instead of the prep area. ]

[ Adachi started pushing his way through the crowd as soon as he spotted the familiar silvery grey hair, his jaw set in determination as he didn't stop until he was standing before him. ]

What do you think you're doing?

[Wildcard]
[ Feel free to spot Adachi anywhere at Fanport; he'll be wandering around as a blob of depression through most of it. ]

ImPort Hall

[Sabriel's found herself surrounded by a small crowd of locals when she arrives in armor and surcoat, and she ends up posing more pictures and signing more things than she was expecting.

She also finds herself with a pile of gifts, including a scrapbook of her appearances in the news, several bags of cookies and other baked goods from people she or RISE had saved in various disasters- and a folder full of fanart. Then there had

Panels

[Sabriel's a little irritated, but not surprised, that the panel talking about magic has far more attendees than the one discussing RISE. Still, she puts on a show, illuminating the hall with Charter-conjured lights and discussing some rules of thumb for dealing with the variety of supernatural forces imPorts have introduced.]

Rave

[Sabriel shows up on impulse. It's not the type of music she's most familiar with, nor the type of dance, but there's something electric about the energy of the crowds, and she's smiling and moving with them after a little bit, putting small charter-lights on a few locks of her hair.]

Dio Brando | OTA

[personal profile] dioception 2017-06-25 09:13 am (UTC)(link)
[A. Artist's Alley]

Dio had enjoyed looking at cosplayers, though he wasn't really interested in who they were, only that some of them were very scantily clad, but that only hold's a man's attention for so long, and he found himself wandering the Artist's Alley, in among the fans. He stood out like a sore thumb, but ignoring people was easy when you were 6'3" and made of muscle. He looked over the top of most of the natives' heads, and easily knocked them out of the way if they were being an annoyance.

Overall, it had been mostly an underwhelming experience. Amateur artists depicting any number of imPorts doing many varying things. He did manage to find something of himself done by a middle-aged woman. He was drawn in his suit, looking rather sultry and more idealized than normal, but it was a very flattering look on him, and he paid the woman in compliments... and a little flirting, because why not? Maybe he should rock the suit look a little more, he thought, but he really loved showing off his body more than a suit allowed.

What ultimately took his attention though was the more ribald wares. Dio absolutely delighted in looking through them. Yes, doujinshi. Various imPorts depicted doing any number of racy acts with each other, in various art styles which sometimes didn't... show the people even a little as they were. Some of these faces and names he recognized, and boy was that a hoot.

"These people certainly have an imagination", Dio said as he turned to the person nearest to him. "Wonder if they've got anything with me in 'em. Wouldn't that be fun?" No, it wouldn't because let's all be honest... if he was depicted in any of these it would probably be with any number of his enemies. Or... Dr. Venture, probably.

Actually no that'd be hilarious. He'd definitely laugh. And buy it. And show it to the poor man.

[B. ImPort Hall]

Dio Brando is not used to conventions. He's not used to seeing them, and honestly this was all a very strange and new experience for him, but it was in honor of imPorts, which meant that he knew he was going to get treated special. He could never turn that down!

With so many imPorts here though, it was hard to really be taken seriously while so many bigger names were around. Still, the ImPort Hall drew Dio in when he found out about the demonstration area. It might only be crowd-approriate powers, but why shouldn't he watch? Get a feel for what these people were capable of, find the weaknesses to exploit. Before long though, someone tried to prod him into it. Dio sneered at the thought of allowing these common folk see what he, Dio, was capable of.

"Fool. I, Dio, cannot demonstrate my strength here. There is nothing here that can withstand it, and nothing heavy enough to demonstrate with", he scoffed, rolling his eyes. "You shall just have to be content with your imagination."

[C. Rave]

Now, Dio went to clubs. He did it rather often! This... was new though.

He found himself in the possession of some free glowsticks, unsure of what to even do with them, but that was hardly the point now. He was here to drink, dance, and maybe take someone home for 'dinner and entertainment'. He was dressed for clubbing, if this was the peak 1980s, and he walked as if he were the best-dressed one in the room, right over to the bar.

It took him a little bit, but a few drinks later, he could be found around the edge of the dance floor, looking over everyone else. This wasn't what he was used to seeing in a club, if only because there were so many different dance styles here that he had never had a chance to explore in his time in Cairo. He wasn't intimidated as much as he was somewhat fascinated. It was like he was learning a new part of human history... or maybe he had drank enough to make this feel like a much bigger experience than it was. Probably a mix of the two.

"Would you care to dance with me", he said soon enough to the nearest person who looked otherwise unoccupied as he looked them over as if scrutinizing them. Truly, he was just attempting to see how hard he would try in order to convince this person to bed with him. Gender wasn't a factor, but there were numerous other things that could affect his level of determination. "Admittedly, I feel like I've been out of the game for a long time, but I'm sure I could brush my skills off."

Akira Kurusu | OTA

[personal profile] crimeboy 2017-06-25 10:40 am (UTC)(link)
[A. Import Hall]

[Akira had come dressed down, hoping to just... do anything in this world but stand out. Honestly, he was curious! He'd stopped in to see the Artist's Alley, not really knowing what most of it was, and if he saw anything familiar, he made a beeline out of there. No thanks. He's had his fill of embarassment for like... a year. Not that it wouldn't rear it's head again in time, but now was not when he wanted to deal with it. After that, he had to drop by the Cosplay Contest to check it out. Not really his scene, but he had to admire the dedication!

But soon enough he made it to the ImPort Hall. It seemed like this was going to be the place to be. It was pretty amazing to see some of the imPorts getting showered with gifts and the people who were getting swarmed for pictures. All just for being imPorts, huh?]

People really flock to heroes, don't they?

[He spoke aloud, almost wistfully. It wasn't jealousy, or even missing the feeling himself, but more... tentative hope. He hoped that they wouldn't have to face the downfall that the Phantom Thieves once faced, though he supposed those were special circumstances. Surely, no god-like being would be able to convince this whole country that these many numerous imPorts never even existed.]

Is it really a good idea, though? The way people seem to flock to a group of people just because they have powers?

Guess these people have probably had longer to think about that question than I have.

[He laughed a little at himself then, before finally turning to look at whoever was near enough to have actually heard him, kind of hoping to strike up a conversation.]

[B. Refreshments]

[This wasn't the demonstration area, but somehow Akira had garnered a crowd, and not because of any fantastic powers of his.

He had found out about one of the booths doing a food challenge, but this time it wasn't a burger, but a sundae. Fitting for the hot summer weather! And the prize is a year of free ice cream!

The people gathered round have a mix of reactions to the spectacle of Akira attempting to eat probably about a gallon of ice cream. Some are excited, some are disgusted(this is too much food for any one human, really), and some are skeptical about it, murmuring to each other that he probably has some sort of power to help him do this.

The joke is on them though. He has no power to help him here, AND he is weak to ice.

He is absolutely unable to finish it and throws in the towel soon enough, frowning but managing to keep his composure.]

Ugh. Someone wanna help me finish it, then?

[Since he already gave up... best not to let it go to waste.]

[C. Rave]

[After his last party went... the way it did, Akira isn't looking to try and sneak any alcohol this time. He just wants to hang out and dance a little! In fact, he doesn't even have a drink on him right now, just in case Reggie went around touching things. It could happen! There was a water fountain somewhere, probably.

In the end that didn't matter because he was 17 and had glowsticks and there was loud music on and it was dark with some real neat lights here or there, illuminating the dance floor enough for you to see people around you most of the time, but Akira was jamming and could not be stopped, until he ran into someone, then stopping IMMEDIATELY, his posture going tense.]

Ah! S-sorry! Just... getting a little into it is all! Ha.

[Oh geez. At least him running into someone shouldn't be a huge deal. He wasn't huge or particularly heavy, nor did he have any super strength or anything.]

Never thought I'd see anything like this though! It looks like the kind you see in movies!

[He was going to start dancing a little again then, enough to... hopefully not run into any more people, but he could very well do just that. He was a little active when it cam e to dancing, and he certainly didn't seem to have any shortage of confidence.]

part I - imPort Hall

[Ah, FanPort, what a wonderfully strange extravaganza. Doc has found himself looking forward to the madness, if only for the opportunity to greet welcoming fans and perhaps sell a new line of wares.

Doc's main area of interest is the hall, where he does his very best to be warm an inviting. He'd never charge for a picture or autograph, but he has set up a display of various inventions for purchase, ranging from small timepieces to the next-generation hoverboards in bright neon colors.]

They may not be as snazzy as the boots, but they're reliable. And that's a guarantee---even over water if you choose the Model B!

part II - Artists' Alley

[Later, he breaks for the artists' alley, a small scoop of those brownies in hand. Does he really need to be eating his own face in sugar? Probably not. He smiles at the colorful art, considers the new crop of plushes, smirks at the various odd couples until he spots two very familiar faces in a compromising pose.]

Is this selling? That's very flattering and I'm glad. Thank you, but I'm just not sure he'll like this...

[He purchases out of curiosity and flees before the questioning about his mysterious partne spirals out of control.]

We're what now? Absolutely not, I'm sorry, but I don't know where elvish blood came from...

part III - design your own power station

[He spends the rest of his time in the charity area, proposing outlandish ideas for the kids' new powers. His own abilities aren't all that versatile for making the photoshoots pop, but he's relying on the computer team for that. He focuses instead on cheering the kids.]

More watches? All right, but be careful what you wish for!

[He soon sports twenty on arms and legs and gives the kids enough to match. All in the name of action! He helps kids onto a hoverboard for added effect. The sound effects? All his own, made out of the side of his mouth with a silly expression.]

A. ImPort Hall
[Normally Terry would leave Ace at home, but after multiple coworkers strongly suggested he bring his four-legged friend along, Ace comes along too. From there, it takes the teen all of four seconds to realize why they had been suggesting it so intensely: Ace is apparently far more popular than him. Crowds flock to the pair, children especially, oohing and aahing over the Great Dane mix and requesting they see him in action. At first Terry's nervous about so many strangers surrounding the guard dog, but to Ace's credit he seems to take it all in stride. Soon, they have it more or less down to a routine, with Ace performing mid-air tricks for onlookers in the special demonstration area, then allowing the public to pet him after, Terry keeping a close eye on the dog the entire time.]

[Should petting a flying dog not strike your fancy, eventually the pair call it quits and Terry stands off to the side while Ace enjoys a well deserved bowl of water. Looking down at the dog, Terry can't help but shake his head a little.]

I can't believe you're so popular. Or that you're behaving.

B. Artist's Alley
[Later in the day, Terry finally makes it to Artist's Alley, Ace at his side. It's slower going than he'd like, considering how popular his dog is proving to be, but still he's curious enough to stop and check a good number of the booths out, pointedly ignoring anything that looks too racy, not because of the adult content but because every time he looks at one it winds up being about someone he knows about, and it's just too weird to think about.

He stops at one booth in particular that seems to specialize in plushies. All of the heroes you would expect are there--Iron Man, Blue Beetle, Batman (even his version!)--but none of that catches his attention. Instead, it's one of the "plain" ones, of a black-haired guy with a brown jacket and grey pants.
]

Is this... me?

C. Rave
[With Ace safely in his hotel room, Terry is free to spend the rest of the night doing something he hasn't been able to do in a long time--dance. He can't remember the last time he had time to dance like this and he's making the most of it, showing off all of his futuristic dance moves to his hearts content. Come dance with him!]

--

[At some point, sadly, he must take a break, heading for the bar for something to quench his thirst. He tries to order a water, but the bartender, barely paying attention, demands to see his ID. When Terry refuses to produce it, the bartender informs him he can't be served, and turns to walk away.]

However, it requires an demonstration, so with a quick change, Aurican reveals with his dragon form and a small gust of his own dragonflame. After the demonstration, Aurican changes back, and after a change of clothes, he returns for more Q & A before finally concluding the panel.

In all, a fair and good panel, he thinks. Maybe. ]

Artist Alley

[ Many of the artists here, displaying their works are incredible. Aurican is often moved by the sheer talent. He even bought a print of a digital painting of himself, in his true form, wings spread against a sunset. With a print and a business card in hand, he looks around, seeing many, many other works of imPorts he knew or didn't know of. ]

Food Stall

[ The human mouth is a wonderful thing. As a dragon, his sense of smell is superior to a human's, his sense of taste is not as great as a human's. Many wonderful varieties of foods abound, and Aurican wants to try at least a morsel each.

It's why he's ponderously chewing on what is called "Baked Auricanned Golden Apples", sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar. Overall, a very delicious dessert. ]

Things escalated quickly after arriving. He's approached by someone looking to show off their Archie costume, and thinks M has the perfect build for it. Sure enough, he does, and in exchange for entering the cosplay contest for her, he gets to borrow the costume for the weekend. Win-win.

While waiting to get called up on stage, M turns to someone nearby, adjusting the anchor necklace sitting somewhere around his navel.

His particular favorites are the few of him with Archie, considering his outfit.]

We accidentally switched outfits this morning. It's embarrassing, really...

---

[It's not just dirty, dirty doujinshi involving anyone and everyone he knows he's collecting, it's all of the little stuff in between. Plushies, keychains, mugs, t-shirts, if it's vaguely involving someone he knows, he's probably buying it.So far his favorites in his haul consist of a life-size toy replica of Magnus' axe, a gigantic anchor necklace (as the one currently around his neck is a loaner), replica Vibe sunglasses, an icyhot mug, and a t-shirt of Apollo's sun symbol. Judging by the bags in his hands, there's a lot more where that came from, and if he knows you and has something resembling you in there, he's going to pull it out to show it to you.]

How great is this?

c. Refreshments
[After buying what looks like one of everything from each of the food trucks, M and his multiple bags of swag find an out of the way spot to eat. He's sitting on the ground on a towel, his food splayed around him in a semi-circle. At some point, he looks up from his meal to meet the intense gaze of a little boy, no older than 10, dressed in a pretty good Midnighter costume. Several seconds pass and M remembers to smile, but otherwise doesn't really know what to do.

Someone remind him how to be social with children.
]

d. Rave
[Sure, M's there (sans Archie costume, sadly), but he isn't really doing much, instead opting to just prop up a wall, arms crossed as he watches everyone else dance. Someone really should get him moving.]

[after seeing so many people idolising him for all the wrong reasons (look, he likes his biceps too but he does better stuff when he heals animals) archie has taken to sitting at a table and chugging down alcohol by the bottle.

he's not avoiding people, however, and will happily chat to anyone that drops by.]

MY BUDDY, MY BUDDY AND ME, with Magnus, Taako and Angus! OTA!

[ Welcome to My Buddy, My Buddy and Me, an advice show for the fantasy modern era! Three questionably qualified doofuses are sitting at a table onstage, ready to give out advice to anyone with a problem that needs solving: there's one fashionable-as-hell elf, one cheerful, burly dude with impressive sideburns, and one small nerdy boy who looks like he's seriously thinking about hiding under the table. Physically, the only things they have in common are the gleaming metal bracers that they wear on their forearms.

When they aren't dunking on each other or trying to answer questions from a bizarre website called Yippee! Answers (most of their answers come from Magnus and Taako, and are variations on "fight him!" or "steal his shoes!", although Angus chimes in every now and then with relatively sensible advice), they're taking questions from the audience! Angus shuffles the papers in front of him and leans towards the mic. ]

Uh... I guess we're taking audience questions now? It says here that the only rules are, um... 'keep it short', and... 'no bummers.' Taako, sir, did you write this?

Closed to Kavinsky;

[ Murphy's only half as drunk as Ronan is, but there's still whiskey on his lips, having shared in the flask Ronan was guzzling down, enough that the kiss took him completely by surprise and left him giggly and tingly all over. He'd seen Kavinsky in the back of the panel room, watched him from the couch on the stage where he and Ronan were plopped together, and kept having the urge to tell someone to drag him up to the stage. The show really was all Kavinsky. He and Ronan wouldn't have ever come up with that crap or the motivation to do it themselves otherwise. It's not really fair he's cut out of the fame, when fame seems to be something Kavinsky enjoys so much.

It takes the two of them some fumbling to get off the stage after the panel finishes, Ronan utterly wasted and Murphy still snickering over the fan service kiss, but once he can safely deposit Ronan into the arms of one of his several boyfriends, Murphy shuffles his way out from the backstage curtain, only stopping to give a couple hugs to fans that are forward enough to stop him before he can reach Kavinsky, smile wide and intoxicated. ]

You seriously gonna leave us to deal with all this game crap alone? [ Murphy's too drunk to think better of getting clingy in public, so when he makes his way up, it's right into kavinsky's space, hands gripping over the fabric of his button up shirt, over his stomach, sneaking around to the sides like a very slow hug. ] Stupid art can still be art, you know. And this one even makes sense to name after me.
