FANPORT JUNE 2017
WHERE:Nonah Convention Center
WHEN: June 23-25, from 9 AM - 12 AM every day.
WHAT: Registration is in motion alongside FanPort, the most popular imPort convention around! Come on in and see imPort-led panels, the artist's alley, cosplayers, and more! If you have any questions, or wish to amend the way we have written up your characters' panels, let us know here!
WARNINGS: None anticipated; please let us know if this should be changed.
Locals, imPorts, come one and all to FanPort, the annual gathering of imPorts and imPort enthusiasts! Registration volunteers are wrangling the long, long lines wrapping outside the convention center, but attendees are passing the time by competing in a contest sponsored by a local radion station: to create the best imPort-themed viral video clip and post it to social media! #PowersPower #Fandemonium #FanPortVIP
Unless they choose to mingle, as guests of honor, imPorts get to skip the line, receive a gold-trimmed IMPORTANT badge and be escorted through a secure entrance into the convention center proper. But there's no escaping the crowds once they're inside, you will be rubbing shoulders. This year's FanPort is seeing record attendance, and the venue is swarming with enthusiastic con-goers. Once they make their way past an impromptu welcoming committee of squealing fans, imPorts can explore...
ARTIST'S ALLEY
The bustling ballroom is full to brimming of fans selling their creative wares. Hundreds of prints are available for purchase, featuring everything from Magnus Burnsides striking a heroic pose to an artful portrait of Dandy Mott in his study, with his tie unknotted and dribbling down his front. There's even an action crossover depicting the Blue Beetle versus Iron Man, or Jesse Pinkman dancing with Reggie Mantle. Crossover time!
Other tables feature 3-D creations, with maskets full of keychains, buttons, T-shirts, homemade plushies and more. If you can dream of it, it probably exists, and it would be a challenge to name an imPort without some kind of creative representation!
Some artists and fanfiction writers have teamed up to create doujinshi about various imPort couples. imPorts who are known to be seeing each other are likely to see a drawn version of their relationship in this section, but there are also true rarepairs that go against canon, like Lapis Lazuli/Shale, Frederick Chilton/Sam Merlotte, Kitty Jones/John Murphy, Danny Pink/Mitchell Hundred, Jessica Jones/Laurie Collins, Han Solo/Luke Skywalker, Count Dooku/Archie and Rusty Venture/Sadie Doyle. And some of these books are sultry! Outright SHOCKING. You really must buy a few, if only as gifts.
If you don't see what you want being sold already, there are plenty of commissioners who would leap at the chance to provide an imPort with a custom print or doll, just for them! Although some of the dolls getting in the way of the big, popular ships may just be used as voodoo dolls, so watch out!
COSPLAY CONTEST
What's a fan convention without cosplay? There's not a single room in the convention center that lacks multiple cosplayers, but many of them are in it to win it at the cosplay contest. Some have gone to store after store to buy just the right street clothes to accurately portray imPorts like Daryl Dixon and April Ludgate, but others are up for a challenge and are showing off incredible armor creation or sewing work with their Riptide, Maeve Millay, Jean Grey, Petyr Baelish, Doreen Green, and Kanaya Maryam costumes.
And what of imPorts who want to join in? There are only two rules: imPorts may not enter as themselves, nice try jerks, and nor are they allowed to use shapeshifting powers. Other than that, they're welcome to join in on the competitions and the festivities! There are awards being given for everything from Best Performer to Best Costume to Most Accurate Posing, so jump in, and enjoy! ImPorts ARE free to give their own input (or imPut! Haha! So funny!)
IMPORT HALL
Aside from the panels, this is where imports are welcomed as special guests! Above the entire affair is a huge sign that reads, cheerfully: "WELCOME IMPORTS!". Here, imPorts are welcomed to set up their own booths to sell their goods, autographs, and pictures, advertise their businesses, or to simply meet some of their fans! A special photo-op booth is available for imPorts who are game for one-on-one meetings but don't want to set up a booth. Security is tightest around this area, but only for the safety of imPorts; if any fans get a little too touchy-feely without the imPort's consent, rest assured, they'll be hauled out in short notice. There is also a special demonstration area, marked off with cones, where imPorts may show off crowd-appropriate powers for some oohs and aahs.
This is also the place where willing and participating imPorts are showered with special gifts featuring everything from fanmade scrapbooks of their public exploits and fanart, home baked goods, or samples from all sorts of corporate representatives eager to have imPorts represent everything from their makeup lines to their gas-buster pills.
REFRESHMENTS
Forget the generic, slightly stale burgers and fries most commonly found at convention centers. Just outside the venue is a series of imPort-inspired food trucks and stalls. Ready for some Persephone Paprikash? What about some Emmett Brown-ies for dessert? Delicious! And we can't forget the line of So Carbonated They'll Make You
DESIGN-YOUR-OWN POWER STATION
This year's FanPort has a special charity room for imPorts who feel like doing some community outreach. Long-term patients at Nonah Children's Hospital who are well enough to travel have been brought to the con, where imPorts who sign up to volunteer will help them dream up their own powers, design their own superhero costume and dress up using a wardrobe of donated costume parts. Each child can then pose in front of a green screen with their favorite imPort to create a superhero team-up!
RAVE
The first two nights of the convention, attendees can get their groove on after hours! The grand hall is opened up to various imPort inspired acts, such as the Woden-inspired Welcome to Valhalla, the Yurio Plisetsky-inspired Ice Ice Babies, and the Stark family-inspired Kings of the North. All of these shows are complete with light shows and complimentary glow sticks, and once the clock hits past 9 PM, a bar opens up in the back for natives and imPorts alike, provided that they're of-age — and yes, they will be checking their IDs!
Want to get your rock on? These acts will gracefully step aside to allow imPort musicians to take the stage, but will respond even more happily to jam sessions.

An episode screening and Q&A panel with the teen stars of ETV's edgy reality hit, which reviewers have alternately described as "a cinéma vérité glimpse into the lives of troubled imPort youths and the emotional complications of confronting alternate realities" and "basically just two assholes who look alike pranking each other for a half hour every week." Witness the controversial duo in person and decide for yourself! A memorabilia-signing session will follow. Starring imPort Guests: Ronan Lynch and John Murphy
Along with some brief demonstration, this session provides a brief overview on gaining powers, tips on how to deal with them, how to control them, how to best utilize them in daily life, and how to support your friends and family through adjusting to them. Demonstrations will include the reveal of his true draconic form and safety-checked flame snorting. Starring imPort Guests: Aurican
As host of the panel, Doctor Frederick Chilton will analyze the emotional and psychological consequences of imPorts having lived in this world, a universe foreign to their own, for over twelve months. He explicitly explores the manifestation of dissociation, maladaptation, codependency upon other imPorts, and the rare case of expressed criminal psychopathy. His presentation includes statistical data as well as anecdota, using Dorian Gray as an example of codependency with fatal but ultimately beneficial outcomes. Chilton's conclusion is that the longer you are in this world as an imPort, the more dramatically the environment affects you, sometimes profoundly influencing your behavior in unpredictable way, and he argues that the data supports a myriad of impacting variables within that environment, with no one singular cause to blame. Starring imPort Guests: Frederick Chilton and Joseph Kavinsky

Hear about all of that and more, including a touching dedication to Lucy Pevensie. Starring imPort guest: Jon Snow

[ He waved his hand vaguely, as if it would make the idea of "that" appear before them. An annoyed sigh came out of him in the next moment, and he stuffed his hand back into his pocket. He was right, though; there really was no use dwelling on it. It was probably best to let heads cool off and deal with things as they came. ]
Not sure what I want. Just as long as it's edible.
no subject
Guess you can't always predict how things will go. Fact is that now you don't have to hide that part of your past. It won't be easy to move past, but you should take it as a blessing. Nothing impedes honesty now, unless you have some more terrible secret hiding in the back of your closet.
[Akira says it nonchalantly, as if he were talking about Adachi having had a bad school yearbook photo rather than actually murdering two people. Making a scene wouldn't do anyone any good though, and Akira did tend to be focused more on the horizon than what was right in front of him.
Even so, some small part of him did want some vindication. To yell at the man for being selfish and thinking of how this affected himself first, bowling over the feelings of others in order to ease his guilt, as if someone else could come along and absolve him of his sins if he beat himself up enough for it.]
I want one of those steak sandwiches... [And at that, he just went ahead and walked up to the food vendor that sold what he wanted, making sure to get a sandwich that probably looked too big for him to eat.]
no subject
Not that I'm aware of. There's a large gap in my memory from the actual fight, but from what I've been told, I don't want whatever memories are associated with being possessed by a god.
[ He was curious, he'd be lying if he said he wasn't, but who the hell even knew what that thing had been doing to him while it was using him for a host. ]
[ Adachi fell silent while Akira ordered, not at all surprised when he ended up with a sandwich bigger than his mouth. So many people knew how to make portals to the meat dimension that he wasn't even phased any more. He ordered something much more tame by comparison from the same stall, if only because he was in the most not-picky mood when it came to food, before looking around for a place they could sit. ]
no subject
Either way, Akira waited for Adachi to choose a seat, figuring that if he wanted him to talk openly, he should at least allow him that much.]
I'll go ahead and say that you're definitely off the hook for things that happened while possessed anyway. It's not like you're making your own decisions then.
[He scratched at his head, then giving a little shrug.]
So how are you doing now? What do you want to do? Still working on that project of yours?
[He didn't want to say anything about taking down organizations or use the word 'Constellation' in public, just in case, but he figured Adachi would know what he was talking about.]
no subject
[ At the questions, Adachi had been ready to answer and be amicable about it, but the last one had him frowning in annoyance. He knew Akira had been at the shop -- no idea where in the shop or how much he heard, but he knew he was there. The Constellation had come up, of course, but given Yusuke's track record so far in regards to keeping his mouth shut... ]
Fine, I don't know yet, and how much did that idiot tell you?
no subject
[Only slightly encoded, because he couldn't be sure who was listening. He'd dealt with these situations before.]
Not much else. I think is very noble of you, though, and believe that was truly what you wanted.
[Again, it came down to whether the murderous detective was more dangerous, or the politician with the silver tongue who was willing to pull the trigger while gaining the love of the masses.]
I know a bit about dealing with those sorts, and wanted to offer support.
no subject
Well, you know. Someone's gotta keep such wild creatures from going overboard, 'ya know?
[ He paused, long enough to take a bite out of his sandwich. He didn't know what to make of this kid, and after dealing with Yusuke, he wasn't exactly out to trust him just because he was a teenaged Persona user. Nevermind how much he reminded him of Dojima's nephew. ]
S'probably a good idea to avoid any more direct support though. You know how animals like to bite when they feel cornered.
no subject
[Meaning that he was most definitely not looking to join Constellation. That was too close for comfort, and he wasn't really interested in subterfuge. He was a thief, he snuck in when nobody was looking and preferred to leave before anyone noticed.]
I still have an interest, though, and I may have a fresh perspective if you dibs yourself needing one.
[He certainly isn't going to tell Adachi outright what he could do, but Akira was chomping at the bit to steal the heart of a man described as 'Shido, but stronger'.]
no subject
[ He fell quiet a moment, tapping his fingers against the table thoughtfully. He kept comparing him to Dojima's nephew, but really, there was a lot different. He was definitely more willing to bend the rules, but at the same time, obnoxiously trying to reach out to everyone around him, whether he realized it or not. ]
[ He let out a sigh after a moment, picking up his sandwich again. ]
I could use that. There's a lot I don't know about some of the other critters, and that's not even counting what the big guy hasn't surprised me with yet.
no subject
They've always got something new up their sleeves. Maybe sometime later we could get into more detail.
[How much he bent the rules might have been a little obvious with how easily he'd been able to switch to this weird topic to keep prying ears from learning too much.]
This month has been pretty... overwhelming. We should take as much time to wind down as we can.
[Which would honestly be about no time for Akira, since he had plans to resume work as The Phantom Thieves of Hearts just as soon as some details were ironed out, but Adachi could probably use like. A spa visit or something.]
no subject
I'd like that.
[ He flexed his other hand absently; it was big enough now that he couldn't wear his prosthetic anymore, but even wrapped up with a glove covering it, it was still obviously not properly sized. He'd gotten used to the stretchy, growing pain as it reformed, but damn he would be happy for the day he woke up not having to feel it. ]
The last couple months have been shit. Last month I got punted back home, and then I broke my ankle not long after getting back. Being able to take a vacation would be nice.
no subject
I hear that! Though really I'd just like to go home. I just got out of juvie before I got here, after a pretty tough fight.
It's a shame we can't really even get to Japan...
[Then again, he wouldn't want to go to Tokyo and see Leblanc possibly not existing, possibly owned by someone else. This world isn't his own, and he's not sure if his friends and family even exist here, which... was a little disheartening.]
What kind of vacation spots are... around here? I don't know much about mainland America.
no subject
The juvie system is a little better than the main prison system, but not by much. Good to see it hasn't left it's mark on you.
[ He paused to take another bite from his sandwich, chewing thoughtfully. ]
I'm good, not going to Japan. I mean, I miss it, mostly for the food, but I'm okay here; and not just for the obvious reason, or the fame being an imPort.
[ He waved a hand. ]
There's a lot to do here, and for super cheap. The beach in Heropa is a great place to chill, and the Falls is a good place to go to for food, but you need to be careful at night; there's a lot of underhanded stuff going on. De Chima has a lot of tech stuff around; I think there's a laser tag place there? I'm not sure; I haven't checked it out yet.
You need to get government permission to go outside the porter cities, but I've been to Disney World in Alabama, and Viktor's been up to New York for shopping.
no subject
[S-sweats. Iwai might have mentioned calling in favors that were almost certainly from yakuza or ex-yakuza. Either way, Akira was mostly just bored in juvenile detention. At least he hadn't asked how he'd gotten in there.]
Underhanded... Hm. [Akira did need a gun. Eventually. He could wait a moment before going out and immediately buying weapons.]
I've been to the beach though. It was kinda nice, had some fun during the one swear-in thing. But I didn't end up registering, so I don't know how they'll feel about giving me permission to do anything. So I guess I might be stuck with the cities, but I guess it's okay.
I've only been here a month, there's probably plenty to check out.
no subject
If you'll accept my help...
[ He scribbled down a name and address, before ripping it out and offering it to Akira. ]
This guy's a native; he owes me a favor for chasing a guy off his block. Just tell him I sent you and he should be able to sell you something. It won't be anything good, but it'll be a start.
no subject
Uh, thanks. As long as I can get it with cash then that's fine.
[It's a start. Anything is better than nothing. He could probably look into modifications and upgrades once he has his hands on a pistol of some sort.]
I just need something for insurance.
[He felt a little naked here with only a knife and what was most assuredly his weakest Persona. Sorry, Arsene!]
no subject
[ Adachi waved a dismissive hand. ]
I get it; the Inaba team had weapons too. I'm sure if more of them showed up here, they'd be looking to arm themselves too.
no subject
[Similarly to Adachi, he had also learned that trusting a teenage Persona user busy because they were one was a bad idea. After all, he'd seen now that even bad people could get one.]
What's their deal, anyway? I've only heard that there have been other teams, and learned that whatever happened with them was enough to shake Yusuke's confidence in what had happened with us.
no subject
[ Was... is? It was hard to say. Did those guys keep their little gang going after the whole crap with Kagutsuchi? He didn't see why they would break up after that, but who even knew. ]
Their group got together to solve the murders I started. Really, they were the only ones that could, given the circumstances with the TV world-- er... Metaverse, I guess? We didn't know it had an actual name.
There was another group before them, too, operating out of Iwatodai. Kirijo Corporation ring any bells?
no subject
[That sounded a little more structured than his band of thieves. Or maybe it wasn't. After all, they had their roles too. He wondered who the second in command would be for a moment... probably Makoto.]
Yeah, it's the Metaverse. A world created from, or maybe just affected by, the cognition of humans. A place of shadows and desires... hm. So you guys used a television to enter it.
[Akira furrowed his brow then thinking on the name. Kirijo Corporation?]
Not ringing any bells, though I did hear of an Iwatodai group. It's hard to believe so many exist out there, and yet it seems so obvious.
no subject
[ Which might be promising for them if they ever visited Inaba? It meant they didn't have to give up their Personas for good, at the very least. ]
Kirijo Corporation is based in Iwatodai; they're a pretty major group. You probably use things produced by them back home and not even realize it. They're also responsible for the man-made island that Gekkoukan High School sits on.
[ He leaned back in his seat. ]
Mitsuru Kirijo is a Persona user; from what I've been able to gather, she's responsible for getting the Iwatodai group together back when they were teens too. Apparently the incident there happened while I was still a rookie working in and around the area, dealing with the results of the whole Apathy Syndrome outbreak. I have no idea what happened or what was going on, just that Apathy Syndrome suddenly stopped not long before I got my transfer notice, with no real explanation as to why.
[ But it had to by tied to Shadows; that much was obvious, and he lets his words hang a moment to convey that. ]
Anyway, Kirijo-san is head of the Corporation now, but she spends most of her time elsewhere. I found out just before coming here that she organized this group called the 'Shadow Ops', specifically for dealing with Shadows.
no subject
We got there through a phone app, so I have no idea. I think... we might have destroyed it though... The Metaverse, I mean. [But then, he wasn't sure. Akira had simply assumed they had destroyed it, but Morgana had come back and could still talk, so god only knows. Maybe even God doesn't know.]
Really? That many people...
Maybe I was too young to have heard about it. It's a little crazy to think of other groups just doing what we were doing, or... doing something similar, but at the same time I am not terribly surprised. The cognitive world was being studied by at least a small group of scientists, so others had to have known of it's existence somehow.
no subject
[ At least, that's what makes sense to him? He doesn't understand it any better than the kids do, really; probably less so. ]
Well... Apathy Syndrome started... I want to say sometime in the late two-thousands? It was pretty bad; people would just collapse, and not be able to take care of themselves. They couldn't speak, or do anything really; it's like their minds had completely shutdown.
no subject
[Akira thought for a moment. There was certainly a possibility that maybe... the regular Metaverse still existed? That is to say that there were perhaps no more palaces? Or maybe the only palaces that existed were individual ones. Akira certainly knew that he couldn't have changed everyone overnight.]
I don't know what Yusuke has told you about what we do, but I'm just saying that it's possible that the Metaverse as a place where one can go to manipulate the collective human unconsciousness might no longer exist.
[He won't go into specifics in the food court at Fanport, but just say that there's a possibility of things happening.]
It got really complicated there at the end, haha.
That sounds kind of familiar, if only in the way that it was what we... dealt with. Hm. Maybe a little later I can tell you some more about it, it's a little involved for me to be getting into here. But uh, thanks.
For telling me about that, I mean. It gives me some things to think on. And for the help. [He motioned to the paper he'd been given with the information.]
no subject
[ That sounded like one heck of a story, one that Adachi couldn't deny he was curious about, but he let it go. If it was long and complicated, this really wasn't the place for that kind of conversation. Instead, he waved his hand, an easy smile coming to his face. ]
Hey, no problem. I've been making it a point to try to be helpful to other Persona users that come in, mostly because this place can be an adjustment from our world, not to mention how different the other people coming in from other worlds are.
[ He shrugged. ]
