Locals, imPorts, come one and all to FanPort, the annual gathering of imPorts and imPort enthusiasts! Registration volunteers are wrangling the long, long lines wrapping outside the convention center, but attendees are passing the time by competing in a contest sponsored by a local radion station: to create the best imPort-themed viral video clip and post it to social media! #PowersPower #Fandemonium #FanPortVIP

Unless they choose to mingle, as guests of honor, imPorts get to skip the line, receive a gold-trimmed IMPORTANT badge and be escorted through a secure entrance into the convention center proper. But there's no escaping the crowds once they're inside, you will be rubbing shoulders. This year's FanPort is seeing record attendance, and the venue is swarming with enthusiastic con-goers. Once they make their way past an impromptu welcoming committee of squealing fans, imPorts can explore...

ARTIST'S ALLEY

The bustling ballroom is full to brimming of fans selling their creative wares. Hundreds of prints are available for purchase, featuring everything from Magnus Burnsides striking a heroic pose to an artful portrait of Dandy Mott in his study, with his tie unknotted and dribbling down his front. There's even an action crossover depicting the Blue Beetle versus Iron Man, or Jesse Pinkman dancing with Reggie Mantle. Crossover time!

Other tables feature 3-D creations, with maskets full of keychains, buttons, T-shirts, homemade plushies and more. If you can dream of it, it probably exists, and it would be a challenge to name an imPort without some kind of creative representation!

Some artists and fanfiction writers have teamed up to create doujinshi about various imPort couples. imPorts who are known to be seeing each other are likely to see a drawn version of their relationship in this section, but there are also true rarepairs that go against canon, like Lapis Lazuli/Shale, Frederick Chilton/Sam Merlotte, Kitty Jones/John Murphy, Danny Pink/Mitchell Hundred, Jessica Jones/Laurie Collins, Han Solo/Luke Skywalker, Count Dooku/Archie and Rusty Venture/Sadie Doyle. And some of these books are sultry! Outright SHOCKING. You really must buy a few, if only as gifts.

If you don't see what you want being sold already, there are plenty of commissioners who would leap at the chance to provide an imPort with a custom print or doll, just for them! Although some of the dolls getting in the way of the big, popular ships may just be used as voodoo dolls, so watch out!

COSPLAY CONTEST

What's a fan convention without cosplay? There's not a single room in the convention center that lacks multiple cosplayers, but many of them are in it to win it at the cosplay contest. Some have gone to store after store to buy just the right street clothes to accurately portray imPorts like Daryl Dixon and April Ludgate, but others are up for a challenge and are showing off incredible armor creation or sewing work with their Riptide, Maeve Millay, Jean Grey, Petyr Baelish, Doreen Green, and Kanaya Maryam costumes.

And what of imPorts who want to join in? There are only two rules: imPorts may not enter as themselves, nice try jerks, and nor are they allowed to use shapeshifting powers. Other than that, they're welcome to join in on the competitions and the festivities! There are awards being given for everything from Best Performer to Best Costume to Most Accurate Posing, so jump in, and enjoy! ImPorts ARE free to give their own input (or imPut! Haha! So funny!)

IMPORT HALL

Aside from the panels, this is where imports are welcomed as special guests! Above the entire affair is a huge sign that reads, cheerfully: "WELCOME IMPORTS!". Here, imPorts are welcomed to set up their own booths to sell their goods, autographs, and pictures, advertise their businesses, or to simply meet some of their fans! A special photo-op booth is available for imPorts who are game for one-on-one meetings but don't want to set up a booth. Security is tightest around this area, but only for the safety of imPorts; if any fans get a little too touchy-feely without the imPort's consent, rest assured, they'll be hauled out in short notice. There is also a special demonstration area, marked off with cones, where imPorts may show off crowd-appropriate powers for some oohs and aahs.

This is also the place where willing and participating imPorts are showered with special gifts featuring everything from fanmade scrapbooks of their public exploits and fanart, home baked goods, or samples from all sorts of corporate representatives eager to have imPorts represent everything from their makeup lines to their gas-buster pills.

REFRESHMENTS

Forget the generic, slightly stale burgers and fries most commonly found at convention centers. Just outside the venue is a series of imPort-inspired food trucks and stalls. Ready for some Persephone Paprikash? What about some Emmett Brown-ies for dessert? Delicious! And we can't forget the line of So Carbonated They'll Make You Tina Belcher craft sodas. imPorts get a discount if they show of their tattoos to prove they're not just fantastic cosplayers!

DESIGN-YOUR-OWN POWER STATION

This year's FanPort has a special charity room for imPorts who feel like doing some community outreach. Long-term patients at Nonah Children's Hospital who are well enough to travel have been brought to the con, where imPorts who sign up to volunteer will help them dream up their own powers, design their own superhero costume and dress up using a wardrobe of donated costume parts. Each child can then pose in front of a green screen with their favorite imPort to create a superhero team-up!

RAVE

The first two nights of the convention, attendees can get their groove on after hours! The grand hall is opened up to various imPort inspired acts, such as the Woden-inspired Welcome to Valhalla, the Yurio Plisetsky-inspired Ice Ice Babies, and the Stark family-inspired Kings of the North. All of these shows are complete with light shows and complimentary glow sticks, and once the clock hits past 9 PM, a bar opens up in the back for natives and imPorts alike, provided that they're of-age — and yes, they will be checking their IDs!

Want to get your rock on? These acts will gracefully step aside to allow imPort musicians to take the stage, but will respond even more happily to jam sessions.

What does it take to be a champion on ice? How do the pros spin so fast without getting dizzy? A Q&A session will be followed by an exhibition skate on imPort power-created ice. Starring imPort Guests: Otabek Altin, Viktor Nikiforov and Yuri Plisetsky

►THE WONDERFUL WORLD OF WESTEROS

There are 50 states in America and seven kingdoms in Westeros. What's life like in this land far far away? Attendees will receive a short introduction, followed by a Q&A session and other activities. Clean cut folk, reconsider—anyone with a majestic beard gets front row seats! Starring imPort Guests: Robb Stark and Theon Greyjoy

►LEADING THEORIES FOR ALTERNATE UNIVERSES AND THE CAUSE OF IMPORT POWERS

An introductory-level discussion of the science and logic behind the predominant theories for the existence of imPort powers and the nature of alternate universes. Adam Parrish will be expounding upon the most modern studies and theories, with Skeets providing practical experience, expertise, and exposition. Starring imPort Guests: Adam Parrish and Skeets

►BEING DEAD AND COPING WITH IT

ImPorts are the life of the convention, but what if they're dead back home? This panel will offer helpful tips on coping with certain mortality. Starring imPort Guest: Danny Pink

►RESTORING WORLDLY CONNECTIONS THROUGH MUSIC

This panel discussion includes audience participation as it explores how natives and imPorts alike can (re)connect with the Earth via singing, and explains other-worldly philosophies on creating more worthwhile connections with others in being one of the keys in restoring the balance of the world. A concert demonstration will promote the beginning of a peaceful connection between those living on Earth and the world they live in. Panel sponsor HNBN (Heropa's News Broadcast Network) will provide weather-related merchandise to be donated to multiple charities that are connected to natural sanctuaries, parks, animal shelters, homeless shelters, and other charities that promote imPort and native unity. ►BEYOND MEDICINE: IMPORT HEALING TECHNIQUES

This panel reprises last year's edition, with a focus on Miracle Springs. Attendees can witness an introduction and demonstration of healing powers on native volunteers, particularly those suffering from conditions that are incurable with this world's medical technology alone. Participants must sign a waiver, with priority given to terminal patients. Panelists will administer treatment based on greatest need. Coupons for Miracle Springs will be distributed to anyone who doesn't get a chance to be treated during the panel. Starring imPort Guests: Jesse Pinkman and Haen Hithiel

►ETV'S "FUCKUPS & TRYHARDS"

An episode screening and Q&A panel with the teen stars of ETV's edgy reality hit, which reviewers have alternately described as "a cinéma vérité glimpse into the lives of troubled imPort youths and the emotional complications of confronting alternate realities" and "basically just two assholes who look alike pranking each other for a half hour every week." Witness the controversial duo in person and decide for yourself! A memorabilia-signing session will follow. Starring imPort Guests: Ronan Lynch and John Murphy

►FROM TELEKINESIS TO TELEKINES-YES

Along with some brief demonstration, this session provides a brief overview on gaining powers, tips on how to deal with them, how to control them, how to best utilize them in daily life, and how to support your friends and family through adjusting to them. All information is high-level, and panelists will be available to mentor powered individuals on a more one-on-one basis. Starring imPort Guests: Erik Lehnsherr and Charles Xavier

►SPOTLIGHT: YOUR FACE IN THE TABLOIDS

An open discussion with various guests on how their imPort celebrity status has impacted their lives, through scandals and through influences. This panel will conclude with a series of mean bweets being read by their directed subject. Starring imPort Guests: Erik Lehnsherr and friends

►SHIPS AND YOU IN ANOTHER GALAXY FAR AWAY FROM HERE

Is your ship grounded or does it fly? What's the cannon situation? Who has the best ship of all? ImPorts who have touched the stars are invited to share their experience in an intimate talk about their ships, what it took to make them fly, ways to be safe and other related topics. Attendees are invited to bring fanart of their favorite imPort ships! Starring imPort Guests: Han Solo and friends

►MAURTIA FALLS OF THE FUTURE

A two-day historical recounting of Maurtia Falls, Pennsylvania as an imPort city -- how it started, how it has changed, and what is in store for its future. One the second day of the panel, imports who either currently live or have lived in Maurtia Falls are invited to speak about their experiences and why more imPorts should choose this city as a place to live. Starring imPort Guests: Petyr Baelish

►TO TOUCH A MOCKINGBIRD

Get up close and personal with the Northern Mockingbird as you learn facts about them and get to have the chance to see them mimic other birds and even human voices! ►GOVERNMENT AND IMPORTS: NAVIGATING THE COMPLEXITIES OF A NEW LANDSCAPE IN LAW AND POLITICS

►YOUTHS IN ACTION: WHAT YOU CAN DO TO HELP YOUR COMMUNITY

This panel of teen heroes will discuss the importance of using extraordinary gifts for the betterment of their community, as well as tips and tricks to stay safe during missions. Other topics will include: The Importance of Secrecy, What Not to Wear, Pros and Cons of Crime Fighting, and more! There will be Q&A sessions for both the panelists and any superhero guests that join in. Panelist Kyle Conlen will also discuss plans to create a youth center dedicated to keeping extraordinary teens on the right track. By organizing teens with experienced leaders, it will give them an outlet for their powers in a healthy and safe environment. Donations are appreciated! ►DRAGONS AND MYTHS

Panel moderator Aurican will host a Q&A session on what it's like to be a dragon, how to deal with dragon mythologies, and how to live with the fact that people are scared of fire-breathing lizards. Demonstrations will include the reveal of his true draconic form and safety-checked flame snorting. Starring imPort Guests: Aurican

►THE TRANSACTION OF MULTIVERSAL INFLUENCE ON THE EMOTIONAL DISRUPTION OF VETERAN IMPORTS

As host of the panel, Doctor Frederick Chilton will analyze the emotional and psychological consequences of imPorts having lived in this world, a universe foreign to their own, for over twelve months. He explicitly explores the manifestation of dissociation, maladaptation, codependency upon other imPorts, and the rare case of expressed criminal psychopathy. His presentation includes statistical data as well as anecdota, using Dorian Gray as an example of codependency with fatal but ultimately beneficial outcomes. Chilton's conclusion is that the longer you are in this world as an imPort, the more dramatically the environment affects you, sometimes profoundly influencing your behavior in unpredictable way, and he argues that the data supports a myriad of impacting variables within that environment, with no one singular cause to blame. This open discussion tackles the issue of how imPorts and native citizens alike can be a hero in their city. ►BOTTOMS UP! A GUIDE TO OTHERWORLDLY BOOZE

IDs will be checked at the door for this adults-only panel! Renowned TV host and alcoholic expert Sadie Doyle will lead an audience discussion on favorite drinks and trends in spirits from their own worlds, followed by a sampling of locally-produced beers and liqueurs that are known to be imPort favorites. Brooding No More, by Skeets, Batman/Ted Kord, PG, M/M, please leave kudos

Batman was brooding on a rooftop, which is a pastime he often does regardless of his actual circumstances. Bats brood, it’s practically part of the job description. He broods so much that sometimes he forgets to eat, and some poor, unappreciated person has to make him a sandwich and bring it to him. But he’s too important to thank people who bring him sandwiches, he has to bring criminals to justice, and sit on rooftops yearning for human companionship.

Suddenly, he hears a noise behind him. It’s none other than... Ted Kord. Isn’t that the guy who lives with Bruce Wayne?

“Ted Kord,” said Batman, world’s greatest detective, “What are you doing on this rooftop?”

“Looking for you,” said Ted in what he assumed was a sultry voice but he ruined the effect by giving a snort of laughter after he said it.

Batman scowled at him. Batman doesn’t know any facial expression other than a scowl. “Me? Why me?”

“You’re Batman,” said Ted Kord, “You’re a broodier version of Blue Beetle who I have never met but I’ve heard things about. The older one, I mean, which isn’t confusing at all.”

“I don’t appreciate my own value so how could I understand why you would come looking for me?” said Batman, still scowling, having long since forgotten how to smile since the day he had been bitten by a radioactive bat.

“Because I am romantically attracted to you,” said Ted Kord, holding Batman’s hand.

“But aren’t you dating Mr. Wayne?” said Batman, scandalized.

“No, never,” said Mr. Kord, “He might be my only friend but I drive him up the wall by rebuilding all his appliances without his permission and leaving a mess everywhere. I’m a good person, but I don’t know how to show affection except by being very annoying.”

“Oh,” said Batman, “It's a good thing you'll be more mature with me. I should be aware of your wants and needs too.”

“Right now me and my needs involve kissing you,” said Mr. Kord.

And then they had a romantic kiss which involves pressing lips together in a gesture of human affection.

Ken Kaneki | OTA

[ kaneki half expected the hype would have died down by now: many natives are beginning to see imPorts on a different light, other are getting tired of them, and complaining about their Heroes has become more common of late. So kaneki sort of expected this FanPort to be calmer than the last one, but oh boy, was he wrong. “Record attendance” they say and Kaneki is trying to escape the crowds and failing at that.

He has been to two of these already, so he doesn’t expect this one to be any different. Creepy people, obsessive fans, kids who don’t know boundaries – he will be avoiding that. And the best way he found to do that, was to pretend he is NOT Kaneki. While he used his import status to get inside faster, today kaneki is wearing black hair and glasses, and no, his hair does not look like a wig. Ask him if it’s one or what he did to his white hair, and Kaneki will pretend he has no idea what you are talking about.

Like this, he certainly goes unnoticed and that is the point. Kaneki is there for one reason only: to make sure if something explodes, he can save his people. Just like most of these gatherings and swear-ins, he is far too paranoid to let it go and he thinks the moment he relaxes, everything will go wrong.

He can be found pretty much all over the place – though he is clearly avoiding spending too much time at the artist alley and the cosplay contest. It’s a bit weird to see people drawing imPorts in porn comics and dressing up as them as well (though the drawings are a lot worse).He even goes to the rave, though he is far too awkward to dance unless someone asks him and he can’t say no. And when Kaneki finds a moment to relax, he can also be seen drinking (coffee, of course) at a corner while he watches everyone.


And this is how Kaneki avoided his fangroup “The Kennibals” all through the day. ]

At a table near the entrance, volunteers in anything ranging from street clothes to cosplay can be found cheerily handing out flyers and pamphlets for SELF, a non-profit organization specifically for helping non-humans to adapt to life on this world, answering questions to the best of their abilities and accepting the occasional donation. For the questions they can't answer, they are quick to hand out contact information.

Hm, what's this? Utena takes the flyer when an overenthusiastic volunteer shoves it in her face, and takes a moment to actually read it.

"Okay, okay, so..."

Utena stands on one leg, scratching her ankle with her foot.

"If you're human, and you don't have a lot of money-"

Before she can finish, the volunteer pipes up to say that every dollar counts, smiling as brightly as possible. Utena freezes before pulling out a couple of crumpled ones. She can spare that much, at least. She hands it over and continues, "Is there anything else you can do to help?"

Rosa wasn't going to come to this event, despite being unable to escape hearing about the damn thing no matter where she went. She'd tried to go to a New York Comic Con once, a number of years ago, and she ended up breaking a stranger's wrist for trying to grope one of the most scantily clad cosplayers who'd been walking around and posing for photos. Security had been lenient on her when she'd shown them her badge, but for the amount of creeps that she encountered and how many wrists she wanted to break, she'd ultimately decided it wasn't worth it to make it an annual thing.

But ... fuck.

She found out that Daryl and Skeets were both giving panels, and - despite her better judgment, she decided she liked them both well enough to go and check it out.

So, she arrives, literally nothing about her expression even a slight indication that she's interested in being there. She's timed it so she only has about an hour before the first panel starts and decides to spend the time wandering around the arena, not straying too far from the auditorium where the panels will be held. She's pulled out a couple of throwing stars from inside of her leather jacket (which seems to be the "portal" to her version of hammerspace), which she spins as she walks around.

She's beyond breaking a creep's wrist. She'll straight up stab them now.

And she looks overjoyed to be there. Really.

She's surprised at the fact that she enjoys .. either of them. Not for the people - err, people and robots - running them (it's already established, even though it isn't voiced at all, that she doesn't hate either of them - not yet, at least) . But just in general. Going to anything like a meeting, listening to information, that sort of shit - that's Amy's realm. Nerd shit. Rosa typically just forgets things like a cool person.

So color her fucking confused when she finds herself interested in the topics being discussed. She doesn't take notes (who the fuck does that?) but she's paying more attention than what she even pretends to in the daily briefings at the precinct. Only it's for real. She's actually pay attention.

Once the panels are over, she'll probably loiter a bit in the auditorium for a little while before making her way out back into the main thoroughfare.

[ For Jorah Mormont to weather the steady circulation of the crowd this far out into the open, Lord Ambassador Baelish must not be far away. He’s in scuffed armor, tall enough to have eyes on despite the density of the crowd -- space to move in open around him where he’s made it, one thumb hooked idle over the pommel of his sword.

Like a horse tied off to a post in a busy square, he’s absent on his feet, mind on the wait and the movement of the crowd. Trying to remember what fresh air and scrubgrass smell like.

One would figure that Jyn would have learnt, having now been to two separate swearing-in ceremonies, that large throngs of people weren't really her thing by any stretch of the imagination. A piece of her is always reminded by the crowds and bustling life of Five Points, and that always makes her feel a bit uneasy. Not that she's had all that many happy memories to cherish, but Five Points had been exceptionally terrible.

Still, she goes. She goes because she's been trying to make a concerted effort to try and adapt to and live a "normal" life, whatever the definition of that might be (that's the kicker - she gets to decide what the word means in itself, and there's equal amounts freedom and terror in that); because she's curious about Han's panel about ships and intergalactic space travel; because she's equally as interested in the De Chima panel run by someone called Jon Snow; and because, most importantly, she'd agreed to help run a booth with information about Cassian's newly finished project of Neojedha.

When she enters the space, she tries to appear as calm and bright-eyed as she can manage, though there's a subtle twitch in her fingers (always wishing for the blaster that's no longer at her thigh) as she weaves through the crowd to get to Import Hall.

Once there, she finishes setting up the booth for Neojedha - fanning out pamphlets with information, laying down a board with a sign-up sheet asking for various bits of information, and hangs a sign with the name of the place for people to see as they walk by. She sits herself down behind the booth, hands loosely clasped on the table in front of her, ready and willing to answer whatever questions passersby, potential parties, and potential donors/sponsors might have.

The name caught his attention first though it took him a moment to recognize it. NaJedha was only a planet he had heard about vaguely in relation to the Death Star. All he knew about it was that the planet's moon had been used to mine kyber and then, according to the official internal records kept by Tarkin, used as a test. Other than that, he knew little to nothing about the moon or the planet.

It seemed strange to find someone connected to that system on Earth and so he approached, raising his eyebrows as he saw the woman behind the booth.

"Curious name that you chose," he remarked as he approached, looking Jyn over. He remembered speaking to her once before over the network, remembering that she had mentioned Scarif which was another world connected to the Death Star's early days. "Does it mean anything?"

Jonathan Crane | OTA

1. Welcome to ImPort Hell Hall.

[FanPort rolls around and Crane shows up just like how people don't want him to. He finds it impossible to stay away from large events where he can observe people and even shake them up a little.

Like poking a balloon with a pin, really.

After an hour, he enters the cramped hall and looks around curiously, wearing a black suit with a mismatched tie and sweater. For a short time it might actually look like he's staring at a particular imPort. He straightens stiffly, trying to fathom what makes them tick, blocking the way of other imPorts who might want to move on. His focus otherwise causes him to bump into his fellow imPorts as he creeps around but he fails to apologize. Oh, sure, he knows what he's done but if people don't call him on that then that's their problem.

Then a hand feels him suddenly - without warning, he turns and crushes its fingers in a vice-like grip. His voice is this side short of furious.]

Whatever are you doing?


2. Aliens and Humans Panel. Or Crane's love of Jungian Tropes.

[During the panel, Crane raises one of his observations.

He speaks over a number of hands raised in the air; a voice filled with curiosity that seems to come from nowhere. He does show some of the gentlemanly fashion he used to be known for when addressing Supergirl with a thank you before fielding his question to whoever wants to answer.]

Does the Jungian notion of collective unconsciousness hold any legitimacy in light of archetypal instincts existing across the multiverse?


3. Where there's a rave there's drugs.

[Crane's appreciation of rave music is very, very low. His love doesn't increase over time. When imPorts pop over to the bar after watching Welcome to Valhalla, they can find him hovering there. From the corner of his eye, he sees them approaching, striding to catch him planning something involving terror or anguish - or just in the act of peddling.

He taps the counter with his nails. Waits for them to accuse him and everything.]

[ Yusuke is not part of this panel, at all, he just happens to be sitting near enough to Crane to have his interest piqued. Collective unconsciousness? He certainly knew a thing or two about that. ]

I confess, I am no expert, but if anything, I think being here, knowing that we have been brought here from all over a multiverse and still have so much in common, only further legitimizes it. How else could so many people from dramatically different backgrounds even communicate effectively, otherwise?

Import Hall
Daryl's panel was set for Saturday. The 'biggest day' of the convention. That left all of Friday, most of Saturday, and Sunday for him to take part in other things. His contract with UCCY Inc. required him to be around for some photo shoots each day, and his endorsement deal forced him to spend a couple hours at the Bow-Man Hunting Booth promoting the brand. But the rest of the days were his to enjoy the convention. So he mingled and tried to keep his head down. Dressed in a plain plaid button up and jeans. Sleeves - short, but still intact - and no vest except when he was at the panel or doing his contracted work. A minor effort to keep himself from being easily recognized at a glance that did a decent enough job with the wrist band he wore to cover his tattoo. At least among the native population. Particularly with the sheer number of Daryl Dixon cosplayers out and about.

Daryl stopped by the station of his own volition when he spotted a kid that couldn't be more than four, dressed up as him and throwing a bit of a fit that he couldn't just be Daryl Dixon. Not understanding the station wasn't for cosplay so much as it was for being their own super heroes. He hadn't signed up to help out, but slipped in quietly while the child's parents were arguing softly with the booth runners to just let him do this. The kid didn't recognize Daryl at first - he wasn't wearing his vest and his sleeves were intact and he was much cleaner than all the advertisements had him looking - but he listened as Daryl complimented his attention to detail. And by the time the parents the and the booth organizers realized someone was with the kid that hadn't been expected, Daryl was manifesting his wings (still feathered, but a little more silver-grey than his normal white ones) and hoisting the kid on his hip to take him to the photo booth. The kid smiling like Christmas had come early.

Daryl stuck around the booth after that, posing with kids and letting them touch his wings. Gentle and careful with them in a way that was clearly unexpected from a few of the native volunteers. Not many people got to see Daryl acting so soft and being so free with his smile as he was when he was with the kids.

UCCY INC' THE NEXT WORLD PREMIERE + PANEL DISCUSSION
Saturday's Panel happened and for the first 15 minutes or so everything was fine. Panelists were introduced and the host almost immediately went to questions from the audience. But then Daryl got a question about something he'd said regarding 'walkers' during the episode and there was confusion about what he meant by that.

His answer of: "Ain't really gotta deal with 'em here. Just a problem we gotta think about... back in our world. Ya'll call 'em 'zombies' for some dumbass reason." ended up causing a sudden frenzy of excited shouts and questions about being an actual zombie apocalypse survivor and entirely derailed the panel for the rest of the time. Every single person trying to get a question in from then on wanted to know more about life in zombie hell and how Daryl, Carl, and Enid dealt with it.

The question that made Daryl stand up and leave before the panel even ended, though, was the one asking if they'd ever been forced into cannibalism to survive. It was leave or shoot the asshole and Daryl figured he'd get in more trouble for the second than he would the first.

imPort guests could, of course, catch him after in the VIP space if they wanted to do their own follow ups.

Oh boy. Carl looked on as Daryl left, with just him and Carl. He gives Enid a look, and decides to answer the question.

"No, but we've found people who had." And his tone bleeds, And let's leave it at that, shall we? But more questions followed, more about Carl's eye, about how Carl and Enid first met, how did it all happen?

What a mess.

After the panel concluded, Carl caught up with Daryl. "Hey, Daryl." He said. He wasn't angry at him for leaving like that - that's just how Daryl was. The whole Terminus thing was still traumatic, even now. It was a huge wake up call how far people can go. . . and still have miles to go before hitting rock bottom.

JAIME REYES / BLUE BEETLE | AI PANEL FT. SKEETS

[ The AI panel is, it must be said, one of the panels with a rather odd looking duo. On the left is one Blue Beetle, covered from head to toe in blue and black carapace, red-yellow lenses directly covering his eyes and a distinctive lack of a nose. On the right is one Skeets, who could on occasion be compared to a very shiny, golden football with wings. Behind them is a big-screen TV that looks like it ought to be used for something, but instead, it remains empty. Blue Beetle is the first to speak, clearing his throat a little nervously before leaning towards the microphone. ]

Hi, and thanks for coming! I’m the Blue Beetle, and I’m here today to talk about AI rights and experiences with a couple of my friends. I’m not an AI, but I am bonded to one - just think of me as his interpreter. If he wants to say something directly, that’s what the screen behind us is for. I’m also here wiiiiiiith…

[ At which point he looks at Skeets meaningfully. Take the wheel, pal!

Skeets floats up to the microphone, nodding his whole body at Jaime in lieu of the capability to have facial expressions.]

Greetings. I am Skeets, an artificial intelligence from the 25th century housed in a BX9 robot body. My experience in these matters is probably self-evident. I don’t presume to speak on behalf of every AI, but hopefully this will begin a conversation.

So… the first thing that’s important to understand is that a lot of people think that AIs are just objects, meant to do their job and nothing else. That’s the way it is for some of the most basic AIs, but the ones that can talk to you - or heck, even the ones that can’t, and just communicate in different ways, still have feelings. They still need to be treated with the same kind of respect you’d give to anyone else. They’re not out here to steal jobs, or take over the world - well, no more than anyone else; humans kind of have a bad track record on that last one too. But most of the time, they just want to be able to exist, same as you guys.

[Skeets turns to look at Jaime for a moment, almost as if surprised.]


I hope if I ever attempt to take over the world, you’ll stop me, sir. But yes, it’s important to remember that the definition of an AI means that we’re highly intelligent, more so than even the brightest of pets. We can understand the world as much as you can.

Sometimes even more than you can. [ And with that beginning spiel over, they launch into the meat of the subjects described in their panel. It’s not particularly interesting, considering Khaji occasionally chips in with extremely obtuse text on the big screen TV and the Blue Beetle goes off on an enthusiastic but not entirely on-topic description of how human beings are made up of chemical reactions too, and that sort of programming isn’t so different from AI, and isn’t it cool that - oh no, sorry, I’m getting off topic, Skeets, you go. Skeets is mostly polite and informative throughout, though there is a bit in the middle where he very patiently explains that just because someone doesn’t have a bipedal body and is small enough to fit in a box and can access the internet with their brain doesn’t mean you should keep them in your closet for a few years.

Finally the Blue Beetle clears his throat and says, ] Anyway, moral of the story is that you just have to follow one rule. Just be -

But now that he's here, wandering around after the panel he just hosted, trying in vain to escape some of the more eager fans who are just excited to see an unusual looking imPort, he hurries off to the charity room, where you can find him for the rest of the day. He looks like he's having a blast, staying on the kids' level and chatting with each and every one of them before hoisting them atop his shoulders or holding them beneath their arms so they can really feel like they're flying. [SHIPS AND YOU IN ANOTHER GALAXY FAR AWAY FROM HERE || free for all; threadjacking welcome]

[Look, there's only one reason why Han is even here at this panel at all, let alone hosting it: money. Lots of it. Enough money that he could afford a month's worth of car repairs with some left over to splurge on this con, so here he is.

In retrospect, he really should've bargained for a lot more, because from the outset—when he'd asked for the drawings the audience members had brought along—there'd been Trouble. Apparently, ships meant something different to most of these people, which was a bit unsettling and uncomfortable to have to clear up.

Now they're talking about ships—actual ships, mind, not whatever the fans think it means—and when the topic drifts to speed, well, Han just can't resist showing his bias.]

Well, my ship's the fastest in our galaxy. I'd bet you anything it'd keep that title here too, even up against yours.

[Damn it, Han.]

[Really, there's nothing like seeing twelve different people putting up posters of you in various poses for sale to realize that, well, crap, you're famous now. Semi-famous? Whatever, Han's been getting one hell of an ego boost just being at this con. He ends up buying up half the posters depicting people he knows, like Luke and Cassian and Jyn and Elena and even Yuri, and then drifts nearer to the, ah, less safe for work depictions.

Oh, hey, here's a book where he's shirtless and Luke is in his arms! That's, uh, weird. He picks it up, flips through it, and just stares, stunned, at a panel that he knows for a fact is not anatomically possible for humans.]

I'm not this flexible. Nobody's that flexible. [A moment's pause, then:] And they got my nose and my hair wrong on top of that!

[two: cosplay contest]

[Someone roped Han into this contest, and although he's not actually participating in the contest himself, as evidenced by his casual wear, he is absolutely wrecking the dreams of a whole truckload of Han Solo cosplayers by just—being his regular self.]

Yeah, I know that's a wig, pretty damn obvious it's a wig even from, what, three klicks away? And where are the bloodstripes on your pants? Those are important. [He's being reasonable here! He's not shouting or anything, but it's very clear that he finds all this attention and devotion kind of uncomfortable. Like, why would anyone want to emulate how he dresses even for a day?

Let's not even get started on the AU versions. He turns to one now, plants his hands on his hips, stares at them in confusion.] Why would I wear anything like that? Never even seen it before in my life, and trust me, buddy, I've seen plenty of things.

[Han will be all over the place during the convention, occasionally stopping to take a picture with some enthusiastic fan (which never lasts beyond one picture, because then Han immediately rolls away in another direction) or to buy something off a merchant or even just to take a breather and get a snack. The point is, you can catch Han doing any number of things, before and after the disaster of his panel, all over Fanport: visiting other people's panels, hanging out by the refreshments, standing on the sidelines during the rave with a drink in hand, you name it.]

[As soon as Hux saw the panel on ships hosted by Han Solo he was certain that it would just be Solo bragging about his garbage heap of a ship.

And of course, it turned out that he was right. He ignored anyone with drawings, here was here for actual ships and he wasn't about to let Solo brag about a flying junk pile of a ship. He was smug as he spoke up, he was proud of his star destroyer that would put even the Executor to shame in terms of technology.]

Anything? I don't think you would want to make that bet against a star destroyer, even the older Imperial models, Solo. As I recall, your ship is nothing but junk taped together, I'm surprised it even gets off the ground after all these decades.

Ronan Lynch

panel: ETV'S "FUCKUPS & TRYHARDS"

[Ronan has been, until now, only vaguely aware of his fame. Since the show started airing, he's had paparazzi on him anytime he's left the Meadows, and a fair number of fans have bothered him on social media. But the nice thing about the internet is how easy it is to ignore everyone. Not so easy in person, particularly at an event that gathers them all into one room. Ronan, a reclusive boy his whole life, finds himself on a stage with hundreds of eyes fixed on him and his clone from outer space, and he realizes he regrets almost everything that brought him to this point. Fucking around with Murphy and a camcorder had been fun when it was an inconsequential pastime. Fame is literally what murdered Ronan's father.

He carries on, regardless. There's whiskey in his stainless steel travel cup and he pulls from it regularly, which eventually grants him a warm carelessness in the place of anxiety. He starts losing track of questions midway through the Q&A, but the fans don't seem to mind his slurred and incoherent responses. In fact, they react as if he's doing it on purpose, which earns Ronan more laughter and applause than he's ever heard in his life. It all somehow culminates in Ronan locking lips with John Murphy, and the panel ends with shrieks and camera flashes. On his way off the stage, one of his handlers from the network tells him he did a great job, which is weird, because he doesn't remember half of what just happened.]

[The promotional tour's not over with the panel. There's still the booth, and Ronan's obligated to be there for at least two hours. Somehow it's both better and worse than being onstage. Better, because he's only faced with a handful of people at a time. Worse, because he has to interact with each of them personally, and it turns out there's a lot of touching involved. Most of them are females and most of the females want to kiss him, which he bluntly refuses, yet it happens more than once, anyway. He prefers the fans that look terrified to be meeting him, and he takes his time in adding extra doodles to their autographed memorabilia and donning whatever flower crown or knitwear they offer up to him. His heart races through the entire ordeal and he's even paler than usual, but at least Murphy's here, too, and he's not facing it alone.]

[There's a bar at the rave, which is why Ronan's there while he waits for his friends to finish their own panels and events. The music isn't near filthy enough for Ronan's taste, but since he's there to drink and not to dance, it doesn't matter much. He takes up a perch in a dark corner, where he's more likely to blend in, with his artfully distressed black clothes, and nurses drink after drink while wearing his most unfriendly glare. Which isn't to say that someone can't ask him to dance, anyway.]

[If you're a friend, or just a fellow imPort that seems to need encouragement, he just might pull others along with him to dance. Not that he's the most experienced, but Yuu is nothing if not enthusiastic and determined to make the most of every moment here. Here where it's much preferred to back home, the situation there. Not that he's necessarily been to something like this before, as much a social outcast as he was back home until more recently.

But that doesn't seem to matter. He at least does his best to avoid stepping on any toes as he joins in the crowd, drawn in by their energy. He'll possibly even be one of the last to leave, given he doesn't technically even need to sleep and all.]

Cosplay:

[It's probably not all that surprising that some are so inspired as to dress up as their favourite imPorts. Their favourite heroes. Kids do that all the time, right? Yuu isn't actively participating himself, but he can probably be seen enjoying seeing the kids all excited and proud of their outfits at least. Regardless of who they might be dressed up as.]

ImPort Hall:

[He doesn't have his own booth, but Yuu is still milling around, amid the bustle of activity, and happy to stop and sign something if fans might ask, depending on what it is. More often, it's probably kids he's met through work or such, handing out ice cream and all. But there might be the odd time it's another teen around his age. Though the likely test is whether they catch him apart from Mika, or if they are comfortable or brave enough to catch the two of them together, more like.]

[Panel: LEADING THEORIES FOR ALTERNATE UNIVERSES AND THE CAUSE OF IMPORT POWERS]

Adam has done careful research for his panel. There's a powerpoint presentation. He goes over most of the leading theories popular in the world pertaining to imPorts, and the relevant science and theories behind alternate universes, deferring frequently to Skeets for input and expertise. He's an 18-year-old boy who talks like a graduate student, and he's exceedingly polite and composed to hide his nerves. A couple of times his voice quavers, dropping into a Virginia drawl out of nerves. After the panel, he'd be delighted to talk science or theory with anyone who has questions.

After his own event, Adam follows along with Ronan's entourage, staying as close to Ronan's side as he can get. There's a brief incident when one of the network handlers thinks he's a fan and tries to shoo him away, which results in Adam very firmly clarifying--in front of a crowd of fans--that Ronan is his boyfriend and that he will not be leaving Ronan's side. He'll be surprised if anyone wants to approach him rather his TV-star boyfriend.

Adam's a wallflower at the rave, keeping near his friends and drinking heavily. Recent events have him skittish, and it's hard to find him away from his friends for longer than a trip to the bar. He might agree to dance with people he's already met.

On one of his trips to the bar to get refills for his friends, someone jostles him, and the drinks that he's carrying slosh over him and an innocent bystander. "Hey," Adam snaps, not sure if it was a helpless mistake or selfish carelessness, but he's got too much pride to just let that pass.

[Normally he had no interest in art but nothing else had caught his attention. He remembered one Imperial admiral had once said that you could learn a lot about a culture from their art but all he was learning from these prints and books that these people clearly had too much time on their hands and too much imagination.

He stopped suddenly at a table, eyes widening as he picked up one of the books, holding it by the tips of his fingers as if it were contaminated. He couldn't imagine anyone thinking that he and Ren would do anything those pages showed them doing. He was also certain that he wasn't as skinny as the artist seemed to think he was.]

There is something very wrong with anyone draws anything like this.

[Frankly, Kang hates FanPort. He finds it ridiculous and extremely creepy to see so many people practically worshipping imPorts they barely know. He's only there for a day, and the whole time he stays in his human form in an attempt to not draw attention to himself (it's not entirely successful, unfortunately). He checks in with the SELF table a few times to make sure there aren't any problems, and steels himself before entering Artist's Alley. Those fans who aren't too creepy or disrespectful are gifted with autographs, and he actually helps one of the better cosplayers with suggestions on how to make their draconian costume more accurate.]

Dragons and Myths

[He's there mostly to support Aurican. Although, he did find the topic funny when the dragon first came up with the idea. And, to keep the attention on the main subject and away from more complicated issues, he quietly enters a minute into it and leans back against the wall by the door instead of sitting down.]

Jonathan, on the other hand, was curious and a bit entertained by all of this. He'd been spending half the convention in his human disguise, half with his natural appearance. Since he'd never gone out in public without his skin suit up until this point no one knew who he was, but they certainly seemed interested in finding out more.

After being cornered by a native asking incredibly invasive and personal questions, which Jonathan gave a series of evasive non-answers to until the person lost interest and went away, he asked to no one in particular, "Wonder what that guy's deal was."

[Once upon a time, a five-year-old Veronica Sawyer sat down in front of the TV and watched some very classic, very influential shows. Some decades later, she's now managed to bash together a classic outfit, though some details are a little off because she worked from memory and off of household materials: the star on the tiara is white, for example, instead of red, and the "golden lasso" is pretty clearly just some yellow yarn hanging from a belt loop.

Unlike her stall on the beach, this one's actually supposed to be there, and there's a note underneath the sign that reads: Autographs or Photographs $5, Both $10.

At the moment, she's writing something in her diary. Business is pretty slow, but that's all right, it means she can duck out of her stall every so often to check out the rest of the convention.]

[Brendan has seen a half dozen people pretending to be him, thanks to the whole Heropa Cactus War thing. Their jackets are wrong, their shoes are too new and shiny, and their slang is stiff, forced and unconvincing. He knew from the internet they were going to show up but he hadn't anticipated cringing as much as he has; why anyone would wanna be him is something he just doesn't get, especially if they're not even going to do it right.

So in an effort to blend in he's put his contacts in for once, straightened his hair and is dressed like a total dork. He has become invisible to the masses, and although his staring at the Veronica-alikes he saw was probably noteworthy to some, he played it off as just oggling pretty girls.

Not that any are pretty as the real deal, of course.]

Hey, Vee. You went official with the booth for this one, huh? How much'd that cost you? Or did you bribe people with slushies? [Even with his halfway decent disguise, his smile is distinctly Brendan, and he doesn't bother hiding his normal voice around her.]

1. Panel: Being Dead and Coping With It

[ While Danny is very aware of the presence of other imPorts who are meant to be dead, he can’t help but wonder if they don’t feel as alone in the situation as he does. It isn’t something that ordinarily comes up in conversation. It doesn’t need to, but memory his death and the knowledge that shouldn’t be here, alive and breathing, is somewhat difficult to swallow.

He puts his all into his panel, wording himself carefully and offering up only healthy coping mechanisms as suggestions. He comes across as friendly and open, speaking with the cadence of someone who has done this before. Teaching has certainly prepared him for anything similar to a lecture. More observant imPorts may notice that Danny doesn’t explain his own death at all. More than anything, it’s to spare the complicated explanation, but it makes his closing words all the more ironic: ]

Right, so—if you’re the right audience for this panel, I know every one of you has a story or experience or some other coping mechanism. I don’t want to make this all about me and my suggestions. Does anyone want to share?

2. Post-panel Wildcard

[ For all your post-panel wildcard needs. Just want to converse about being dead or ask some questions? Danny will be lingering for some time. ]

3. Artist’s Alley

[ Though Danny isn’t one for this sort of event, he forces himself to stroll through the line of vendors after his panel, just to be polite. He can appreciate the immense amount of talent, but in all truth, it makes him uncomfortable. For a man who can hardly talk to a coworker without stammering, multiple posters featuring his face are a bit too much.

To be extra polite, he even stops at a booth when something catches his eye. ]

[ He frowns, flicking through one of the aforementioned doujinshi. He looks mortified, but he does his best not to visibly cringe. ]

I—I’ve never even met this person.

[Clara really does try not to laugh when she approaches and sees the source of Danny's mortification. She tries. But the artwork is so outrageous, and she keeps thinking about how Danny wouldn't even sleep in less than full pajamas, and she has to cover her mouth with one hand.]

There were dozens of me last year. I guess the novelty's worn off.

Panel: "How To Be A Leader In Your Community"

[It was his first time speaking in front of so many people without it being to rally the troops. Being personable and social had never been his strong suit, but in planning the panel, he had found his footing. When he mounted the stage, it didn't matter that there were so many unfamiliar faces or that he had to lead an hour long panel. He was talking about something he at least knew something about.

He began the discussion by recounting some of the things he had seen during the blackout and the battle against the anachronisms. Particular focus was given to how many had been put in danger, in need of help and protection.]

There is a way to protect yourself and it's through self defense. Could I have a volunteer? [When he was joined on the stage, he talked through the basic means of self defense and combat. He explained each move, moving slowly to allow even the slowest of attendees to learn and mimic this later.] Thank you. Do you have idea of what to do?

[As the panel drew to a close, Jon eased into the subject of other means for others to help their cities. He raised the subject of charities and social programs. The examples he uses are helping business owners recover after the recent disturbances to the cities.]

Those effected the most during the riots and destruction to the city are those that have businesses in our city. What needs to be done is to help these people rebuild and to repair the damage done to our city. We need more shelters for the citizens during the time of conflict and battle. The clinics in this city need volunteers and donations, they save lives every day.

This is where you can begin in serving your city better. You don't need to be an imPort to help those who need it. There is no difference to us in the end. We all serve a greater good.

Panel: "De Chima: Home To Heroes"

[The panel began with a tribute to Lucy's time as ambassador, a list of her achievements highlighted as well as the hopes she had for the city.

A microphone was set up in the aisle, already gathering a line of people to ask questions once the film was over. The election would be here soon and plans for the city needed to be highlighted and addressed. There was no more important thing to address than what the citizens wanted to see implemented and answered.]

There are number of programs that I think should be put in place. The City Fund is one that I think will do a lot of good to De Chima, as the riots harmed a number of homes and businesses. We need more safe locations for those unable to fight, as well as an escort for them to ensure their city. Without Ambassador Pevensie, we will need more free clinics and volunteers to run them.

None of this will be possible without the support and dedication of both imPorts and Citizens. If you have concerns or ideas, I want to hear them. This is a community, not just a city and it begins with all of us. Here, today, we can change and influence De Chima and where it will go in the future.

ImPort Hall

[With the panels over, Jon didn't rest, his work not yet finished. Well aware that he would be surrounded by the citizens, wanting autographs and pictures, he still went to the ImPort Hall, wanting to associate and mingle. It wasn't something he was comfortable with, but it was needed with the coming election. He needed to be seen as approachable, as Lucy had been.

So he did his best to smile, taking pictures with those that asked and signing personalized autographs. Whenever he felt tired and frustrated, he thought back to Lucy and how she would manage this. He found strength in her, even if she was gone.

The crowd dispersed for a moment, drawn away by the arrival of another imPort, giving Jon a chance to rest.]

[For those that have had the opportunity to meet Futaba before (namely at a party where your recollection might not be all that clear), it might be even more difficult to recognize the girl today. This is mainly due to the fact that she had chosen to cosplay--not for the contest mind you, but for the sheer fun of it.

It's actually kind of elaborate given she had only just arrived and thus probably only had a little over a week or two to throw this together. She has chosen to go running around as what appears to be a fox--honestly, she thinks herself hilarious.

That being said, the get up seems to be helping with her nerves. It's much easier to deal with crowds behind a mask. And she is practically vibrating with excitement.]

[Let it be known that Futaba is a huge nerd. Furthermore, let it be known that she is extremely attached to superheroes--especially if they are color coordinated teams of heroes. Yeah, Sentai is her shit.

So it should come as no surprise that she has gravitated towards anything with merchandise, and while art isn't necessarily the same as displayable figures, it had its perks.]

[Okay, in reality, she's thumbing through doujinshi--some of which she probably shouldn't be as a fifteen-year-old, but man some artist just don't card for that shit.]

There was the cactus war, of course, and that burglar, but most of his activities have been under the cover of night, making it hard for a cosplayer to get a decent frame of reference.

[The thing is this: you can take the girl out of the poorhouse, but you can't take the poor out of the girl. Her old manager contacted her about getting autographs out at the convention, and frankly she'd been shocked he still even had her number. But no, he says, of course she's still on his client list. And look, a money-making opportunity to be if it them both!

It seems like a horrible and tacky idea—selling pictures of her face to a bunch of pseudo-fangbangers, and in the wake of the telepathy "rumor"? She nearly says no, but she needs a new roof and hey, $15 for an autographs isn't so bad, right?

The fans seem nice, at least. A lot of sorority girls in pastels and anchors, countless middle aged women who remind her of the judgemental ladies down at the Baptist church at home, a few pastors asking for speaking g engagements. It's almost worth the handful of awkward encounters. Almost.]

Out and About
[When she's not scribbling her name on her own face, Sookie sneaks out to go to wander around. The artist hall seems nice at first—there's some gorgeous paintings she gravitate toward, and it's privately hilarious to skim through the bad self published fanfiction til a point. It stops being fun right around when she finds something graphic with her face on the cover.

She likes harlequin romance, sure, but only if she place herself in the heroine's shoes and not actually BE the heroine.

The refreshments outside are a sweet relief, in more ways than one. It's not as crowded out here, and the buzzing brains inside the hall are blessedly muffled by the distance. It's easier to genuinely relax, not look like the airhead she always turns into when her attention is split into fifteen different directions. It's enough that she even chances getting a drink, one of those new imPort themed ciders that one company is making. She's no beer girl, but it's nice. Maybe a little tacky, but nice.]

ARTIST'S ALLEY & IMPORT HALL

[ For the most part, a lot of the Artist's Alley doesn't actually interest Reggie too much. He doesn't know most of the people depicted, nor does he care about them -- although he does stop to linger on some of the more lovingly rendered portraits on occasion -- but what he decides he does like are the pieces that he's in. He has no idea who Jesse Pinkman is, but that doesn't matter.

For a few of those lucky artists, Reggie even offers to sit and pose so they can get a better handle on his beautiful, perfect, spectacular (etc., etc.) features by sketching in their sketchbooks, which occupies a couple hours before he gets bored and ends up having a different sort of fun pursuing the doujinshi. Not knowing most of the people depicted basically just makes it like looking at silly drawn porno, which isn't exactly his thing but funny enough to flip through.

So, other imPorts take caution-- any that happen to pass by while Reggie's skimming their illustrated sexual exploits, he will definitely make smug eye contact with if possible. ]

IMPORT HALL

[ Eventually being in the Artist Alley gets weird, however, and that's when Reggie starts encountering fanartists who were fans -- still are, and apparently rather diehard ones -- of this so-called "old" him, and there's at least four, maybe five different layers of discomfort to all that implies. So he leaves and heads into the ImPort Hall where he proceeds to mingle, flirt, sign autographs (many of which turn out to be across cleavage, as per request), and take selfies with fans both in the photo-op booth and just in the hallway. ]

RAVE

[ Then later, of course, Reggie rarely misses a party if he can help it. No need to hover around the bar -- although he does have a fake ID -- because thanks to his power he can take care of his own drinks, so he spends a lot of time on the floor dancing and grinding either on his own or with those who might like to join him, a glowstick held between his teeth whenever he doesn't have a drink to his mouth instead.

Or sometimes he'll be off to the side taking a breather, but that's no reason not to still swing by and say hello. Those who recognize him can even ask him to "freshen up" their booze if they're so inclined; maybe he'll be in a generous mood! ]

Artists Alley

[Sabriel had only vaguely known the previous Reggie, so she doesn't recognize this one. So she doesn't say anything when he makes eye contact- but her dead-white face starts turning pink when she sees what he's holding.]

Jesse Pinkman

[Jesse has to take care of all the crowd work before his panel, because he won't be well enough to carry on with the convention after it's through. He's at his booth in the imPort Hall early, before most of the guests have even arrived for the day. And that's good, because the group of patrons around the Miracle Springs display spills out to block several yet-empty neighboring tables.

They're not here for Jesse himself, though he does a fine job of charming his fans. Most of the people who've come to see Jesse have traveled thousands of miles to do so, some of them spending every last dollar for a chance to meet an imPort who could alleviate some disease no doctor could. Every other person who steps forward asks him to heal them then and there, and Jesse has the unfortunate task of turning them away with a coupon for the resort instead. Most of them won't be able to afford it, even with the coupon, and he knows it. It's a quiet, heartbreaking reality. But he's come to accept that he'll never be able to cure the whole world. Moreover, he doesn't owe it to any of them.

So he smiles brilliantly for the cameras and signs the things that need signing, looking as clean-cut as his stylists could make him: petite and angelic and boyish. He personally hands gift bags and free samples of health serums to every fan, graciously insisting that selfies and autographs are free.]

[There's about an hour before his panel after he's finished in the imPort Hall, so Jesse takes the opportunity to wander the floor. Flanked by bodyguards to keep anyone overzealous from getting too close to him, Jesse wanders from table to table, greeting every artist and buying anything with his name or face on it. After a while, his assistant's arms are piled high with posters and doujinshi and figurines in his likeness. A few fans rush up to show him their tattoos: scorpions climbing their wrists, just like his. Jesse stops for a picture every time. This part is, by far, always his favorite thing about FanPort.]

panel: BEYOND MEDICINE

[It's less like a panel and more like a Christian revival. In the years since he first arrived in this world, Jesse's fanbase has made him out to be a saint. He's spent a long time building and encouraging that image, volunteering during disasters and working with charity groups, not to mention his regular work with local hospitals. Though he's more of a businessman than a miracle worker these days, the public's impression of him hasn't faded. Half of the audience is dressed for church, clutching their crosses and their wands of sage. Many others have come straight from their hospital beds, waiting in wheelchairs or wrapped in blankets.

The introduction is short and sweet. Jesse explains the way his power works - that he will take his patient's injuries and illnesses upon himself, curing them - and that the most terminal among them will get first priority. Then he introduces his partner, Haen Hithiel, who will serve to treat more cosmetic conditions.

Then they go down the list of the chosen, and Jesse moves from person to person. He lays his hands on them, though he doesn't need to, and with no more ceremony than that, their cancer or their heart disease is gone. Jesse's smart about the way he piles these illnesses within himself, making sure that he can remain mobile until the grand finale. Then he chooses the patient with the worst case of paralysis, and the show ends with a dramatic display of some stranger gaining the ability to walk while Jesse collapses to the floor.

It's a good effect. No one pushes him further. They take their coupons for the resort and leave the panel room in joyful tears while Jesse's relocated to a stretcher that will transport him to a safe recovery room. It will be several hours before he's regenerated enough to walk again.]

Import Hall

[It's still overwhelming and confusing for Daisy that people, actual strangers, care about her at all. Much less actually want to take pictures or have things signed by her, which she does. She's dressed a lot more chill this year compared to last, it was just too much effort and she didn't feel like getting fussed over by stylist like last year.

She didn't concern herself with all the security around, it's not like they could do something that she could do if someone actually tried anything. She just got done taking pictures with the last person who had been part of the small swarm she had found herself in when she spots Jesse. Making her way over to him, Daisy pretends to be an enthusiastic fan.]

Oh my god. Can you sign my boob?!

[He had left before she was even conscious this morning, which she knew about considering everything he had to set up for his booth.]

01: ARTISTS ALLEY | we've come too far to give up who we are

[Eda is bit taken aback by the fact imPorts have fans and the fact they so casually make fictionalized stories and drawings of their fave heroes and their exploits. (And their love-lives... and sex-lives.) Some of them are kinda cool if you want her honest opinion of it and she kinda hopes for the day some lovingly crafts a body pillow to her. But some creations... man they are weird.

A artist has allowed Eda to sample her Count Dooku/Archie doujinshi. It's beautifully drawn but... that is far too much old dude on young dude action for her to be comfortable with.

On second thought, maybe she doesn't really look forward to be popular enough for someone to pair her off with a random person and draw... detailed sex scenes with them. She gives the doujinshi back to the artist, kinda weirded out. ]

02: PANEL| DE CHIMA: HOME TO HEROES | extraordinary and oh so cool

[She wasn't aware that the person holding the panel about De Chima was a hot dude. But she does have questions about their fair city. Namely... employment. Eda calls attention to herself, in tacky cheetah print pants, chewing gum in her mouth, bleached hair, and cat eye glasses.]

Small question, how do suppose the government will pull from our town when they need manpower for their missions?

03: AROUND THE CON/WILDCARD | i’m miss sugar pink liquor, liquor lips

[Eda, being a newbie will be out and about the con, and will attract people. (They think she's a either a booth girl or a really nice cosplay of an obscure imPort.) Will you catch her outside the convention building smoking? Spectating the cosplayers? Criticizing the burgers?]

[Robert has never been more glad he's unremarkable, though he did briefly catch someone in a red and white mask that made him double-take. Nonetheless, while he doesn't smoke, he's taking a breath as well, stepping outside and...

...all right, smoking section. Well, it's quiet here compared to everywhere else, and it's not incredibly unpleasant, so he'll deal with it, leaning against the rail with a sigh as he looks up and mutters something under his breath.]

1. ImPort Hall: Arriving, Failing At Mingling

[The reality is that Anatoly has virtually no business being here. He’s out of place, he’s not sure what to do with the positive attention, and he tried to dress down, to mixed results. There are scars on his arms from the First World War that he would rather not explain and so, weather be damned, he has on a dark gray turtleneck sweater, if only for the sake of a familiar texture in a sea of new sensations. In dress slacks and lacking a fanbase, having been so recent an arrival, he sort of wanders aimlessly, curious enough to come but feeling out of place enough not to approach anyone or anything just yet.]

I’m too old for this, [he mutters to himself, sighing.]

2. Panels; Erik & Charles’ panel, Sabriel & RISE’s panel, 2.5 for wildcard-ing others

[Of course he went to Erik and Charles’ panel. Not just because they were friends, but because it was interesting. He had questions about his powers he was keeping to himself for the time being, not wanting to bother anyone, so listening in to this kind of thing was really the best he could do. Besides, it was good to know he wasn’t the only one who was having issues adjusting to all this. He finds a seat and keeps quiet, silver-gray eyes watchful, trying to pick up on everything that was said.

Sabriel may be living in the same house as Anatoly, but she’s a virtual stranger. Other than one very brief, very uninteresting conversation, they simply haven’t interacted. He really doesn’t know anything about what she does and why she does it. Asking her was out of the question; she had side-eyed him warily the entire time she interacted with him, like a newly arrived grandfather was a threat to be assessed. So he finds a seat in the back, takes out a notebook and prepares to take notes as fast as he can, even if people will probably find his use of the Cyrillic alphabet distasteful. That’s fine; that’s an alright price to pay if it means actually having something to talk to his housemate about for once. Coming from a big family, the silence he lives with has been unbearable, and this may help put an end to it.

3. Refreshments aka hello darkness my old friend

[This time, he hasn’t gotten his hopes up on anything being kosher. What’s there, is not marked as such. But he’s had time to learn how to use the Internet now and he’s learned some of these modern foods enough to tell what to avoid, at least. More importantly, he’s gotten to the point where he doesn’t hesitate to just ask someone if what they carry is kosher or treif and he doesn’t hesitate to politely explain the terms. He’s hungry, his growling stomach can attest to that, but there are a few things he simply refuses to bend or be flexible on and this is it.

This would be easier if there weren’t imPort themed foods too tacky to comprehend and if vendors would stop this ‘I cannot reveal my secrets’ business, as it means he’s had to turn and walk away from three vendors already. If these people are under the impression he wants their food secrets, then they grossly overestimate the appeal of their food.]

[Sabriel actually waves at him before the panel starts.

The panel begins with RISE's history- Sabriel speaks favorably of its founder, pointing out its various triumphs, including apprehending and trying Crane for his attack on a swear-in, helping stop Peter Pan, and helping foil the Russian invasion, as well as helping people during the black-out.

Then she moves on to discussing why RISE is preferable to a group of natives with power nullifiers as a means to deal with dangerous imPorts. She points out that in some cases, it's less a matter of malice and more that imPorts may be frightened and not in control of themselves- then what's needed isn't force, but a welcoming hand. And in cases of malice, nullifiers won't stop chemicals like Crane's fear gas or imPort created technology.]
