Recovery is a form of being grounded, right? [Open Log]
WHO: Tetsuo and YOU
WHERE: Nonah 05/Nonah's Ark
WHEN: Post bike crash through october
WHAT: Karma caught up to him and he's stuck in Nonah 05 for a month. Waiting for your body to heal the rest of the way naturally SUCKS. Boredom, resentment and pain don't make a great combination, but he's down for the count.
WARNINGS: Tetsuo. Copious amounts of Tetsuo. Drugs, threats, all that fun stuff.
[Prompts available on request; for the most part:
Sept 29-Oct 18
Largely stuck on his bed being a wet cat. At some point he'll start meandering out into the living room for TV if no one's out there, but he's not really going far or doing much. Expect a lot of network or texting abuse, possible threats of violence, and probably hurting himself in the attempt to follow up on said threats.
For the curious, he's got a broken collarbone/some ribs; nothing life-threatening but definitely extremely annoying, not to mention painful. While this may take longer normally to heal, he's had some healing done, so we can just assume it'll be pretty much good to go by the end of the month. He might be getting a limiter forced on him at some point during the month.
Oct 18-on
As he starts feeling better, his goal's to be out and around Nonah as much as he can manage (not that much, but you bet he can try). He's supposed to be on bedrest for the month? Well, that's not exactly what he intends to do - just try and make him.
That said, he's not going to be up to doing anything strenuous, which is good for all of us. If you can't find him in Nonah 05, he'll be in the arcade or nearby areas. What are good judgement calls?
Action, audio, video, text, it's all good (update: oct 3 evening until oct 9 Tetsuo's comm is not working)]

Kaneda - All month long
October 1st - Action
Sometimes seeing Charlie reading a book in there.
It still hurt, a little, not being the one to bring him back. He didn't blame Bull--he had asked him to keep an eye out. But after all that running around, it wasn't even him who brought Tetsuo home. Something about that stung. But even if it was a slow healing, it wasn't nearly as slow as what Tetsuo was going through. Broken bones were something Kaneda had been blessed with being able to avoid for the most part--and he can't imagine being cooped up that long.
That being said, he couldn't just ignore him, not after all that chasing he'd done in September. So with a little exhale as he waits outside the door, a hand goes up, telling Capsule to stay. As much as that dog followed him around, and as much as he loved it, this was the last place he could be.
With a little turn around the corner, he leans his arm on the doorframe, eyes casting to the door that had been--what seemed like forever ago--replaced.
He doesn't go past where the floor separates from the room to the hall, not yet anyway.]

Just talk, then. Say SOMETHING.
He gets to the door frame again, peeking in really quick.]

After seeing that they still went unanswered, Kaneda walks home from his time out, stepping through the door. Capsule was there to greet him as always, but he by passes him, holding a hand out to tell him to stay as he makes his way to Tetsuo's room.
He's trying to help you, you idiot.
His hand reaches into his jacket pocket, making sure that pill bottle was still there as he walks in, looking none too pleased.]

Capsule hears him, padding out to greet him as usual, and there's a soft whisper of 'Hey buddy...', affection practically pouring out of that voice. At least someone was there to greet him, honestly.
Things were pretty lonely here with Ken missing--Tetsuo didn't talk unless Kaneda barged in, and Kaneda himself had withdrawn a little since he'd noticed the boy wasn't coming home. He certainly didn't talk to Charlie or Bull as much. But even then, even with all this...
Even if he doesn't want people to see the marks of his 'hobby', he looks in Tetsuo's room. Just to see if he's still awake.]

But still, Someone needed medicine, and Kaneda was definitely the one to hand that out.

Dicks.
But when he returns home, Capsule is not in the house. Or rather, he hasn't come to greet him. And that...that sends up red flags. The dog adored him, and there wasn't a day that went by where he wasn't greeted in some way by the golden puppy.
Which...leads him to think of who IS in the house.
Tetsuo.
He honestly could not have run through the house any quicker, hand gripping the side of the doorframe as he practically swings himself in, landing on that squeaky floorboard in true fashion.]

So to see him sleeping in his bed after all of that...it's a nice change of pace when he comes home, taking a peek inside and seeing that he's actually there. Jacket covering him like a small blanket.
He wore it well.
And now...for the other one. It wasn't TOO late, what are the off chances that he'll get tails today? No, that coin remains firmly in his glove as he walks over to Tetsuo's door, opening it and stepping in.]

October 21st - Action
Which was the thing. What the hell happened? If anything, he thought he was making progress with Tetsuo. The pills, the cake...hell, even the comm fix got him at least social again.
If that's how a guy gets thanked around here...
Whatever. He huffs and moves up the steps to the house, having come from a drive around Nonah. What did it matter? Tetsuo's mood changed at the drop of a hat. He really shouldn't be as surprised as he is.
But when he walks into the house, Capsule isn't there to greet him, which was...odd. Even the pitter-patter of feet isn't heard. A part of him wonders if Ken took Koromaru out for a walk, and by tradition, Capsule would come with, but the leashes were hung up, and it was about time for Koro to go pick Ken up from school. So that left one dog in the house that wasn't coming to him.
A quick walk into his room, and he sees the dog there, curled up in his bed, wagging his tail almost gratefully as he hurries over. Exchanges of affection were had, of course, but it doesn't take long for Capsule to return to his bed. Now THAT was strange.
Raising a brow, Kaneda exits to go take his coat off and...That sure is Tetsuo. Right in the living room now.
Suddenly everything makes sense.]

October 31st - Action
For whenever Tetsuo wakes up immediately following head-on Qunari collision
After Bull antagonizes the network and Charlie and Ken get the big guy healed, Charlie heads to Tetsuo’s room with a spare chair and a book. He’d taken a look at the kid’s injuries when Bull brought him in, healed what seemed to be the most in need of immediate attention, but he wants to be there when the kid comes to, just in case he missed something.
That, and he wants to have a talk with him.
So, when Tetsuo wakes finally, he’ll find the smallest of Nonah 005’s dads perched in a chair next to the bed, his feet propped on the edge of the mattress, with his nose in a book. ]

He's not in a junkyard, he can tell that much. Definitely not in a forest, or a tree house. It's been over a month since he woke up underneath a roof, and he can't really deny there's a little relief at that just before panic slams down.
What. Where is this. He almost jerks upright, stopped only by the protesting flare of sharp pain the second he tries to move. Screw that, bad idea, ow. He takes a deep breath, wincing.
The lighting above him isn't fluorescent; it's got a definite light fixture. It doesn't look like a hospital room. That's good.
He turns his head to the side, suddenly aware that it doesn't hurt like he knows it should. Wasn't his neck...? The memories seared in his brain of the last few things he remembers - searing pain, an audible snap in his chest, Bull - are only halfway coherent; it's taking a while for him to sort them out. All he knows is that he's alive. He's somewhere he doesn't know how he got to. Again.]
Wh..?
[But... he's not alone here. And the second he realizes that, he knows instantly where he is. He's back in that house. Nonah 05. Where he always seems to end up somehow.]

He's not a doctor, but he figures he should probably check on his patients either way. Not just Tetsuo either, but Bull, too. Not that... he's seen him in here, either.
Let in by someone or other, clearly, he's peeking into the living room, curious. He's not gonna barge into Tetsuo's room, but if he's here, then...]

His reward of making it to the couch -- shut up, it was hard -- is the fact that he can at least watch TV. Small consolation prize for being stuck in the last place he wants to be; sit around and stare at something that's at least vaguely mind-numbing.
Tetsuo's sprawled out fully, arm dangling off the side, staring blankly at some talk show or other that he's not even bothering to translate. He reaches out for a remote, willing it to get in his hand, but the sound of the door's distraction enough that he loses interest, instead ready to fight - or at least argue with - whoever it is that's coming over here. Hell no, he's not moving, and if they think they can make him, screw them. They've taken everything else away so far, they're not getting this-
...but it's someone he's never seen before.

October 5; evening
But Ken, resolution made and Persona evolved (not that he has announced it to anyone yet) is not satisfied to settle with this awkward game of circling each other. All assholishness aside, he liked Tetsuo, and he was an important part of his life here. Even if he doesn't get to see that smile he got when they shared candy that one night anymore, he doesn't want Tetsuo Shima to consider him a danger, for both their sakes.
It's actually closer to late night than it is to evening. The sun's been set for hours, and it's almost time for Ken to slip away into his room and stare at the moon until he knows it won't turn horrifying and green. But there's been a sense of ease that had settled over him since last night, and so he's perched on a stool in the kitchen watching ramen simmer on the stove, waiting for the right time to add the egg. If Shinjiro were here, he might tell him off for eating something this cheap and gross before bed. He isn't, so he doesn't, but the thought makes Ken smile a little to himself.
He's aware of Tetsuo sitting in the living room. He can hear the soft hum of the TV, and he can sort of sense his presence without it, too. His housemate had spent most of the past several days in his room or on that couch, and that's really more than they had hoped for; Ken's glad that he's getting the rest, even if he knows it's because Charlie had kept the healing to a minimum so that he wouldn't recover too quickly. He turns his attention to the stove and to the bows -- two -- he had set out, and after dropping the egg into the noodles, he waits for it to cook before pouring the snack carefully into them.
A couple minutes later, Ken steps quietly into the living room. He doesn't say anything to Tetsuo, and he hardly looks at him. But in his hands is a tray with the two bowls of steaming ramen and glasses of water. Setting one of each of those on the table next to Tetsuo, he shuffles over to the other side of the couch and plops down on the floor in front of it, silently starting to slurp out of his own bowl. With the water that he gave to Tetsuo, there's a single tablet of Tylenol set down, too.]
no subject
It shows on his face, rimming his eyes black and leaving hollows that don't fit his round facial structure. He didn't use to watch TV here much too; on the days when he couldn't sleep, noise was the last thing he wanted. This is new; a side effect of the - what was it? - psychic inhibitor Qubit handed him. The buzz in his skull is still there, borderline unbearable at its worst, but it doesn't quite cross the threshhold that leaves him screaming and sweaty at random hours, or lash feedback at him when he pushes too hard.
Right now... it's the only thing he really has. It's not even helpful right now; he's still finding sleep hard to get to the point where he doesn't even try for it.
There's something on TV, but he's not really watching it; the communicator's not picking up enough sound to translate it, anyway. He flicks the remote idly, not really wanting to see yet more disappointing shit he doesn't care about, but not having a better idea on how to spend the copious amounts of time he's suddenly stuck with.
The distraction he wasn't hoping for is provided in the form of Ken.
They've stayed apart from each other since Tetsuo woke back up here, and that suits him just fine. He doesn't want to have to deal with Ken's persistent bullshit - kid's younger than he is, where's he get off thinking he can order him around? All he does is have to remember this is the kid who tried to stab him in the face with a spear. Screw him.
They had a shaky ceasefire - not a truce - going for a while, but they had nothing shortly after that. Attacking things like this isn't fun; he's learned from interactions with Kaneda. Pour too much force in, and you feel it reverberate in your bones. When several of his bones are broken, this is a huge problem. Plus... it takes a lot more effort like this.
He can't just shove Ken into the next room. He doesn't want to talk to him at all. 'Take care of yourself' - what the hell does he care? What does he even know?
Clearly, the answer's a newer option that he's only incorporated into his repertoire recently; try ignoring.
Tetsuo spares him half a glance before returning his attention to very pointedly ignoring the TV instead of ignoring Ken. It's weird. He hadn't ever just sat down to watch it before. Maybe that's the problem...
No, the real problem is the food Ken set down in front of him before sitting down, too. Because that's a lot harder to ignore right now than either of the two things combined.
Shit.
He should've stayed in his damn room.]

Oct 3 Action
Fine, Mewtwo can cut out the middleman. If people don't want to do anything about Tetsuo, he'll go to the source. He's seen the apartment before, and it takes some guesswork before he finally finds the right one. He doesn't bother 'disguising' himself tonight. It's dark, all he decides to wear is a heavy cloak that goes over his face and body. Besides...he's begun to grow weary of parading that human form for so long.
Once he knows he's at the right window, Mewto camps himself outside. He patiently watches, keeping an eye on the human. He looked pretty banged up...but then again, their fight didn't seem to faze him.
Mewtwo hunkers down, watching Tetsuo, wordlessly as he puts his hand to the window.]
Action
Collective folk wisdom holds that humans lost all touch with instincts a long time ago. But it's definitely instinct that makes Tetsuo suddenly blink, interest lost in his distraction of choice. Unlike when they first met, for better or for - who are we kidding it's for worse - Tetsuo has had time to hone his powers, and time enough to find things that dull the pain in his head enough to notice.
He could swear that he's got a weird feeling. Like something's there. Call it instinct, or call it intuition, or call it a pull on the edge of his power; it's all the same thing to him. He knows, just knows, there's something out there in the darkness just beyond his window. It only increases as time goes on until he can't stand it anymore and looks over. If he can just see it...
And he does. It's hard to make out; most of it's black on black, a shadow lost inside of a shadow. But there's something vaguely hand-like pressed against the vinyl window, three-fingered and the wrong shade of pale.
Something... not human.
His eyes can not possibly get wider.]

[Other than 'sorry I wrecked your crappy bike'.]
[He knocks though, staying outside until told to do otherwise. He hasn't barged into the kid's room before, barring dropping him off after the accident, and doesn't intend to start now. It sets an ugly precedent, after all. Says he doesn't care about privacy and space -- and this kid needs those things.]
[While he's under this roof, anyway.]
[So knocking it is. And waiting with more patience than a guy like the Iron Bull should have.]
oh good
That knock could be anyone; and given the amount of people in this house Tetsuo wants nothing to do with, chances are it's someone he hates for some reason or other. He doesn't even try to work out which one of 'em it is. Takes a guess at the most persistent and waits.
Kaneda? Maybe Kaneda... Fortunately, there's an all-inclusive blanket statement that can chase away all of them, in theory.]

teleport to other citiestravel. I mean, do you know how far polar bears travel a day? It's not important. But once you travel too much, you start to get lost. As a sad lonely child, this meant Teddie had absolutely no way to-- OH HEY, AN ARCADE.
If Tetsuo ever bothers to come into work, he'll be greeted, maybe, to the sight of one very joyous teenager dancing poorly on the DDR machine. Well, okay, the dancing isn't so bad that eyes will bleed, but he's definitely doing his own thing. ...And his own thing isn't exactly matching up arrows. The outcries of a very disappointed announcer can be heard echoing throughout the arcade, until finally the game receives its mercy killing and it's game over.
...Despite this, Teddie still chooses to dance.]

The Nonah arcade.
He hasn't been here for two months. It's weird, but there's some part of him that's actually glad to be back. This place had become a kind of sanctuary in the early months, somewhere to hide away from everything with dark back rooms where no one bothered him. There's no Ken. No Kaneda. No anyone he hates.
Not even two minutes later, he's already regretting this choice, looking up when he's hailed by a way, way too enthusiastic person for his tastes. What the hell, why.]
So find somebody.
[He'll regret ever acknowledging that he knew the kid was talking to him.]

Oct 21st at night
Pan knew or rather believed- that Tetsuo's dependency for his one and only "friend" would keep their loyalty cemented. He's stayed away long enough for that need to settle in but not to long hopefully to earn the cold shoulder.
So on this particular night, when Tetsuo's alone and Peter knows he's not being followed, the boy appears in an alleyway, watching for Tetsuo to pass. It's there he'll speak: ]
Long time no see, chum. You're looking better. [ Miss him, Tetsuo? ]

[Tetsuo moves into the alleyway, leaning against a far wall.]
Not better enough.
[The second he has a chance to spend time at the arcade, that's all he's been doing. He's not hard to track if you know his patterns.
Peter hadn't been one of the two people to visit him there, but... somehow, that hadn't really meant much to Tetsuo. The guy was a weird forest hobo. Of course he wouldn't show up. It wasn't his style. Just like Tetsuo wasn't that fond of being in the forest.]

Oct 26, general Maurtia Falls zombie quest starter
But somehow, this is the most surreal thing yet, putting everything else just over the edge until Tetsuo really can't begin to tell what his life is anymore. It almost feels like he's just along for the ride as it gets weirder and weirder, doing what he can to make it keep going. Not a feeling he likes.
Magic exists... apparently. But being sent out to get something this outright weird - a treasure hunt for incinerated zombies?]
1: En route
[The bullet train ride to Maurtia Falls was uncomfortable. He'd put this errand off long enough already though; five days was as long as he'd been willing to wait. He's healed enough, right?
And so here he is, wandering gingerly around, looking in not the best shape the worst city to check a map in. At least he has directions.
Never mind that he's supposed to be in Nonah. Never mind that he's supposed to be taking it easy, and this is the opposite of that. Never mind that he's clearly got somewhere he's going that he hasn't been to before. Pay no attention to the tiny psychic.]
2: What's in the bag?
[Whatever it was he was searching for, he's found - it may have taken until evening, but Tetsuo's making his slow way back to the train station, carrying a nondescript bag clearly full of something.
Possibly overdid it by a little, but it's all worth it. The map's long gone now, shredded into countless pieces and scattered into the wind. Now to head back and make a phone call...]
smashes face into this. also 2.
it's still a little early for her intended activity, so right now Hazel's just scoping out possible locations for later and generally taking in the sights. it's while doing this that she spots a familiar figure - and of course she can't help but call out to him.]
Wow, they've got you buying groceries now?
[she's a little ways away from him still, but if the voice doesn't tip Tetsuo off than the coat will; there's only one person who'd go out in something like that.]

But... Ken is back, so he doesn't have to accept anything. And here he is, letting himself into the house with a bag full of groceries without so much as a hello. He's prepared to silently make his way over to the kitchen, too.
Not before toeing his shoes off at the door, of course.]

He doesn't notice the door open right away, busy tapping with furious intent at the controller, trying to turn a NES-era side-scrolling shooter into a bullet hell. His face scrunches up in both concentration and rage, a few items near him lifting briefly into the air...
...and then his character falls over, again, leaving the boss to triumphantly hop up and down a few platforms while his character fades.]
SON OF A....!
[Nonah 05 tends to have people coming and going at random, and usually Tetsuo managed to avoid most of these people. Long hours at the arcade and the rest in his room did a lot of the trick; until Hazel left her console and games here 'accidentally' he had little reason to hang out in the living room. Tetsuo was practically a resident ghost half the time even when he isn't racing around traumatizing the east coast.
Funny how things change, given enough boredom.]
