[Roy glances around until he spots Jim, calling out.]

Captain Kirk, how are you to move?

[Really? A swamp? Eugh. The muck was pulling at his shoes as he sinks in ever so slightly--luckily not as much weight to him as Tex or Ed. He's also a little better equipped for this...

He has to concentrate as he uses both powers at once, but he minimizes use by only making his feet phase through the mud first, freeing him from its suction and stepping up onto a small platform still below the water line. He continues doing this, stepping up and up with some effort before he's standing on a platform right above the gunk.]

[Roy blinks, taken aback at the demonstration, but he shelves his curiosity for later. They will, he fears, have plenty of time to talk on the way back.]

Er, yes actually, if you don't mind.

[overemotionally]

[Jim was not looking forward to finding a way out of there but for now, he could at least make this all a bit easier by using his powers to get them out of the swamp. He holds out a hand, glad that Roy already had gloves on--his touch telepathy wouldn't be an issue here then.]

Grab my hand. Your legs will feel weird, but it's just until you clear the water and mud.

[Gloves and a jacket, despite the heat, so he's well-covered. Roy clasps his hand and waits for whatever 'weird' feels like.]

[At physical contact to Roy's person, he will notice a coolness starting from the waist trickling down to his toes, only to be replaced by a sense of nothing--as though his body from the water line down no longer exists.]

Step up.

[There's a barrier for him to move to.]

[Roy's hand tightens on Jim's, mouth pressing into a flat, unhappy line at the sensation. He perhaps relies a little too much on Jim's strength to take his weight as he moves, but taking a step without being able to feel his leg was highly unnerving, not to mention awkward, having to put thought into a movement he performed automatically a thousand times a day. He's only able to tell he's moved when he winds up higher in the water.]

That is... disturbing.

[And as Roy steps up and up again, he can see that his legs are indeed still attached and moving as he directs them to. Jim helps Roy up as best he can--he's starting to become physically exhausted from using his powers before they all landed in the swamp and here.

As Roy moves up and up, Jim slowly eases up on his power so he doesn't have to divide his energy too much. He lets go when they're on even ground, Roy standing on a transparent blue force field. There's a small smirk when he lets go of Roy's hand.]

Warned you. You in one piece otherwise?

[He hadn't really gotten a chance to take stock of everyone else, only knowing that Ed had gotten injured.]

[He confirms. Disentangled from the mud enough now to risk it, and noticing the effort Kirk seems to be exerting, Roy claps and raises a modest platform of earth under them. He's incredibly glad to feel the solid surface under his feet. The sensation of their absence had left a cold weight in his stomach, his thoughts going to Havoc... They're pushed aside in favor of the current problem.]

You?

[When Roy creates the platform, he lets out a nearly inaudible sigh of relief--maintaining this was not sustainable for a long period of time and he hope the landscape changed soon. He turns to Roy, small smirk on his face.]

You have to teach me how to do that--you and Ed.

[Of course, he's pretty certain he can't learn that kind of thing considering it breaks laws of physics but it'd be cool if he could. He's mostly joking.]

Scratched a couple times. Nothing serious.

[Because each time he was scratched or knocked over, he immediately put a force field between himself and the hound. There's a couple of shallow gashes across his shoulder.]
