[ For once in his life, he shakes his head. He feels sick. Painfully sick. (Plus, he's gorged himself already that day; his kitchen is littered with multiple pizza boxes. ]

No. It's probably better to get it done with.

[ Torture, he could face. Execution he could face. A family reunion...That makes him feel tight-chested with fear. ]

It's...It'll get you out of trouble. Right?

I'm already out of the thick of it. [ Or so he assumes. At least he's used to working twice as hard to prove his loyalty already.

And now that Duv is certain Mark was threatened into this, he can say with certainty, ]

I wouldn't be asking you back if I thought they meant you harm.

[jacksonian]

[ He looks at Duv, uncertain. ]

You wouldn't?

[komarran]

If I had wanted to, I could have done it long ago under easier circumstances.

[jacksonian]

Yeah, but...

[ He gives a little shake of his head. ]

It's your duty, isn't it? [ A hesitation, then: ] Your father... [ And then he falls quiet. ]

[komarran]

[ Dryly, ] Is dead. Twice over.

[ Two funerals for one man. Far more than Ser Galen deserved. Duv's spent enough time mourning for what could have been with a father that never really cared. ]

My duty was to find you.

[jacksonian]

[ Is dead. Lucifer, though, is still out there, isn't he. Like Ser Galen stripped of his ideals, and made many many times more powerful. ]

Yeah. Uh...

[ He looks down. ]

Lucifer. He's still recovering, right?

[komarran]

We're not sure what Lucifer's status is. [ Another reason they need to get on the move and he's not going to lie to Mark. ]

You'd be safer with us.

[jacksonian]

Just...this place is warded against him.

[ He gestures around him. ]

He can't come here. If...things ever go sour.

[ And then he nods. With that information given, just in case Duv ever needs a safe place, and just in case he doesn't make it after all, he's ready to go. ]

[komarran]

[ He had noticed the wards before, but now that their purpose has been revealed, he's walking over to one to get a better look. He pulls his comm out to take a photograph for his own personal records on this 'case' should a report need to be filed.

Assuming he's part of the Imperium at all once he brings Mark back safely. ]

Are they easy to replicate? Or to bring with us?

[jacksonian]

[ He shakes his head. ]

It has to be done by someone trained. And they're tied to the building. [ A beat - ] Someone suggested that it might be possible to put wards on a person. Like Miles' - um - mark - [ He twitches just a little at the not-recitation of his name - ] But in reverse.

[komarran]

[ He catches the slight hiccup, but declines to comment. His own change in name still sounded strange to his ears if his thoughts drifted too far. ]

Do you remember who that person was? It could be a good precautionary measure to take.

[jacksonian]

[ There's just a little bristle of defensiveness for Rincewind. Mark is, gradually, learning a sort of loyalty. ]

No one who could create the wards himself. And someone who wants to be left out of it.

[komarran]

[ He eyes Mark for a long moment before shrugging. He has a picture now, maybe he can find someone to recreate the wards to prevent this from happening again. ]

I wish everyone held that same opinion. [ Both Miles for starting this and Mark for not seeking help. Alas. ] I'll ask around, someone in our makeshift force may be able to handle this.
