It's fine, I can handle being dizzy. [ Because surely it was a temporary ailment. He casts a quick glance around and frowns slightly. He's guessing 'dark' is some odd requirement for the powers the porter gave her. ]

How dark?

Okay, but I'm just saying--it's going to be a huge turn-off if you get sick on me.

[ Time and place, Kasumi!! Anyway, she keeps on looking around, and soon enough she seems to find a suitable spot. ]

The darker, the better. Follow me.

[ So, hey, Duv, she'll be reaching over to grab his hand, so she can lead them into a Nondescript Dark Corner of the hall. ]

[ Dryly, ] I'll risk it. If it does happen, you have my personal permission to to exact revenge. Later.

[ Because the Emperor in some unknown danger does trump what his usual reaction to such a comment would be, which is torn between slightly embarrassed and wondering if he's even done anything to be considered a turn-on.

But the hand-holding is nice and he's not complaining as he follows her though he's careful to keep his grip on her hand light. ] And this is necessary for your abilities to work?

[ She casts him a playful glance over her shoulder as they keep going. ]

What, the dark, or the hand-holding? Either way, yes.

[ Eventually she pulls them into a corner that's sort of hidden away from the main space in the hall; a nearby column casts a shadow into the space, and it's just enough for Kasumi to work with. It's a tucked-away little nook, and--well, a little cramped. She has to pull him close to her, bodies barely touching, to fit them into the shadows. This kind of trick might have ordinarily worked on pretty much anyone else, but Kasumi can sense that Duv is too preoccupied, and, to her credit, she's doing this mostly out of necessity than to be a tease.

I recommend closing your eyes and taking a deep breath. That helps a little bit. Let me know when you're ready.

Ah, I don't mind the second so much. [ Perhaps ill-timed and bold, but adrenaline is a helluva a drug.

He doesn't pay much attention to their proximity, assuming it's another quirk of her abilities if it requires them to be in the shadows. Why, he's not sure, but the porter makes little sense in anything it does. At her request, he closes his eyes and takes a quiet, calming breathe. This can't be any worse than jumping through wormholes. Or so he hopes anyway. ]

[ Oh, well, in that case, she'll be pulling him even closer against her. You know, because she has to. Absolutely.

What follows is a feeling of sort of pulled in, ostensibly by the shadows, and then a floating, not unlike being out in zero-g, a feeling of weightlessness and--seriously, don't open your eyes, because you won't see anything anyway but pitch black. And then, reverse of the feeling of pulled, there's a feeling of being pushed, like abruptly breaking out of water and emerging out of a pool (of darkness) and then they're there. Well, not there there, because she has to come out of another shadowy place, but close enough?

As a preemptive measure, Kasumi pulls her hand away and holds him by the shoulders when they come out of the dark, just in case the disorientation causes him to want to topple over. Granted, having him toppling over her wouldn't necessarily be bad, but time and place, et cetera. ]

--Before you run off and do whatever it is you need to do, just stand here and take a couple of deep breaths first.

[ God is she--

He doesn't have time to think on their proximity before the sensation hits him. It's not entirely unlike the feeling of jumping through a wormhole though Duv speculates this might be more how the ship feels rather than the crew.

A brief spell of dizziness hits him and he doesn't open his eyes immediately. If he weren't caught up in the spinning of his head, he might be more caught up in how nice it feels to have Kasumi acting as an anchor for him. He can't afford to linger long, but he takes a few breaths before opening his eyes and murmuring, ]

Thank you. I'll make it up to you on our next outing. [ Somehow. ]

[ Close as they are, he might be able to see her face a little more clearly when she casts him a sincere expression that says that she's a little worried about what's going on, but doesn't want to worry him. In time, when he makes his offer to make things up to her, that expression takes on a more teasing edge. ]

Be careful, Galeni. I will hold you to that promise.

[ His expression softens slightly when he realizes that yes, he is causing concern. God, but she is gorgeous and he has to pause for a moment as he stares. As soon as she turns teasing, he remembers himself and steps back as he clears his throat. ]

I would expect nothing less, Ms. Goto. I'll be in touch.

[ She grins more widely when she catches him staring, and it doesn't change when he pulls away from her. ]

Just don't keep me waiting for too long.

I wouldn't dream of it.

[ He casts a wistful gaze towards her before he's walking briskly past the rubble to receive his orders from Admiral Vorkosigan. ]

Good luck.

[ It's that wistful look as he turns away that makes her breath hitch, her heart stir just a little, and she keeps standing there, watching him walk off in case he decides to look back over at her one more time. But soon enough, she focuses back in on her surroundings, and--

Well, she hadn't known what to expect, coming here, and she was preoccupied with making sure Duv was okay after teleporting to actually realize where she was, so the rubble and the state of the scene actually surprise her. What the hell happened here?

Which is to say, she'll be hiding herself and cloaking to try and find out. ]
