I'm not fluent. [ But Sarah's "not fluent" is still a hell of a lot better than Alison's, it seems. She listens as the woman selling the avocados says something to them, and though she can't understand every word, she gets enough of them to understand what the woman is asking them. ] She wants to know how much you're willing to pay.

[Alison makes a big show of picking out what she feels is the appropriate amount for these sub-par avocados and holds it out to the woman.]

[ The woman takes the money and hands them a bag with what she apparently feels is the right amount of avocados for the amount of money. ]

It'll do. Now, next let's talk about these tomatoes...

[Hopefully Sarah is prepared for an hour of bargaining - badly - for groceries.]

[ She's prepared, but she's definitely not thrilled. ]

[Well, Sarah's private nightmare eventually ends with both of them weighed down with a pretty impressive haul of groceries and Alison beaming.]

Well! I think that was a very productive use of our time, don't you?

I'll meet you right outside.

[Cosima's pretty sure she does not want to witness Alison's paranoid preparation for their adventure in the city. She'll wait outside to keep her own sanity.]

[Cosima raises an eyebrow. She has a good idea of what it is, but she'd rather not make assumptions. She wants Sarah to tell her herself.]

... Something illegal?

[Cosima hands over the bowl of ice cream before flopping into the chair next to Chloe. She's already looking more relaxed than she did inside.]

[In her opinion, George is totally not fine, but it seems rude to call him out on it right now.]

That's not a bad way to deal with it.

[He knows she isn't fooled - no one really is - but he keeps up the act anyway.]

And now you know why I'm such a dork about your sister.

[He makes a little scoff of disbelief.]

I haven't had such an illustrious career, so far. It takes about thirteen years of college and training to become a surgeon, and I've still got three left.

[ Sarah sighs deeply. Cosima is going to make her spell it out, even though they both know what's going on. ]

I'm dealing, Cos.

[coppelganger]

[ If it had been just Sarah, she would have been in and out in about 15 minutes. But she doesn't say that. ]

At least we got a few meals out of it.

You guys are adorable. And don't worry. She has a soft spot for dorks.

[Cosima holds up one hand for a high five. Nerd solidarity!!]

[Cosima can't say she's surprised, but she's a little disappointed maybe? Mostly she's worried. She doesn't want Sarah to run into more trouble.]

Yeah? Be careful.

[coppelganger]

[ Sarah sees the look on Cosima's face and isn't sure what she expected. Anger, maybe? Or maybe some part of her had stupidly believed that Cosima wouldn't care. But the disappointment on Cosima's face only makes her angry. It's not often, anymore, that she finds herself looking at one of her clones and feeling angry about all the opportunities they got that she didn't, or finding herself resenting all the bullshit she's had to do to keep them all safe. But now is one of those times. ]

Don't give me that look, Cosima. I don't need that from you.

[Cosima sighs, mostly angry with herself that she couldn't stay neutral, couldn't act like she's totally cool with Sarah dealing drugs. It's dangerous and definitely not the path she though Sarah was trying to stay on in order to keep her family together. She worries at her bottom lip, keeping her eyes fixed on Sarah, ready to gauge her reaction.]

Hey, it's not the look you're thinking. I'm just... Worried? It's not exactly the safest career choice, man. And I thought you were giving up all that shit.

[coppelganger]

I was.

[ Dealing had been for two reasons, really. The first, most obvious, was to earn as much extra cash as possible and then take it back with her through the Porter whenever her time here was up. But the second reason, the one she can barely recognize, much less admit to herself, is that she wanted to get back at this universe and all the people in it. ]

Don't you see what I'm doing here, Cos?

[puppydoctor]

[He doesn't leave her hanging, though his side of the high five is lacking a bit of confidence. Putting aside his empty plate, he scoots closer to the edge of the sofa cushion.]

So what are you thinking about seeing while you're here?

[Fifteen minutes later, Alison strolls out front looking askance at everyone who walks by. She clutches at her purse and mutters under her breath like a crazy person.]
