Sorry, Ikki, you get no answer to that. What's he gonna say, 'well sure the sky was great when I could be in it' or 'well sure but I think I actually don't have a girlfriend anymore' or 'I just miss real food fuck this burger shit'.]

[Almost as if he stepped out of another memory entirely...

In the mean time, this really... well... it reminds him of the horrible shadow of a person Kazu slipped into in his weakest moments. Annoyance surged up from top to bottom, looking at this kid.]

Oi oi. [He reaches out, hand on Tetsuo's head, pushing down.] Where's your fire? Where's your heart?! What's this kind of face!

[Tetsuo leans back more, throwing one arm behind him to brace against the bed as Ikki's hand moves onto his. Adrenaline surges through his body, eyes widening at the threatening contact. But it's not fire, just fear. There's no heart in it at all. He'd have reacted sooner if his powers would just EXIST...

Speaking of...

His eyes only widen further at mention of heart, and his hand shoots out all on its own in an unusually weak punch. He's 5'4", sure, but there was a time once that he had muscle. It's sort of there still, and Kaneda's jacket definitely hides just how much damage he'd done to himself.

Panicked, he falls back on the bed, scrambling awkwardly to get a little bit of distance between the two of them.]

D-don't touch me!

[Ikki doesn't stop him, merely watches, one hand still outstretched and a clearly surprised expression on his face. The punch barely even registered, for Tetsuo he might as well have punched drywall. A little give, but not enough...

He gives Tetsuo another long, odd look before simply leaving without a word.]

[violentmotion]

[Which probably would have been great if the asshole had stayed gone. Instead some four hours later or so, he drops back in - thankfully fully dressed.]

You know, I don't know what's going on, but that's an annoying look you've got. It's been pissing me off.

[Exactly against the tone of his words, he actually has rustled up enough for a cheap ramen bowl from one of the small markets nearby. Better than the American excuses for ramen cups, it's the standard 3 minute boiling water.]

It probably tastes like ass, but hey. What do you expect in America?

[By the time Ikki walks back in, Tetsuo's moved up to 'messing around with a gameboy advance' - looks like some pokemon knockoff. He's still largely expressionless... right up until Ikki shows up, announcing his presence.

His face darkens instantly, deepening as this guy - who the FUCK? - wanders in further.

...

To offer him ramen?]

Huh?

What? You some kind of local?

[Because clearly, that's the problem.]

[That at least gets a bit more life out of him. Him?? A local?!]

Don't mistake me for an American.

I was beginning to wonder. Pale, meek, kinda shriveled, no fighting spirit. Total side character material.

[Ikki no. That doesn't describe American stereotypes at all.]

You gonna eat that?

[Whatever that means??? It doesn't matter, he's against it. He'll take the ramen too just on principle.

Phase one complete!

[And without ANY DAMN EXPLANATION, he stands up to leave.

Again.]

[He watches him leave.

Looks at the ramen.

WHAT THE HELL JUST HAPPENED?!]

[It's the next day entirely.

You know what you needed, Tetsuo?

YOU KNOW WHAT YOU REALLY NEEDED?

The door bursting open, followed by a kid wearing a gorilla mask and a bedsheet tied around his neck as a superhero cape to launch a flying tackle at him.]

DIVE ROLL 5000 APE-POLOGIES STUNNER

[It's a calm day. Tetsuo's finally upgraded to playing video games again. He's doing fairly well, despite not taking the time anymore to translate the dialogue for this fight that he just can't win. All the actions are in the same places, so it's a matter of memory-

All of this concentration shatters at what sounds like a door being kicked down.

The violent slam makes his head jerk up, eyes widening just in time to see something his brain doesn't quite piece together as more than 'gorilla thing with cape coming straight for him' and barely has time to yelp in terror before an Ikki-colored blur slams into him, knocking him to the bed.

His gameboy flies somewhere, miraculously not losing its batteries.

As for the rest of Tetsuo, this is where the scene devolves into a whirlwind of flailing.

This is what you caused, Ikki.]

[Before the expensive piece of electronics even bounces twice, before the bedsheet cap has barely drifted to settle around them, Ikki is up, dragging Tetsuo into an elaborate pin to the bed that. Wouldn't look right no matter how you were to walk in on this.]

OH-HO! I see you are ready to SUBMIT to my kindness! WRETCHED FOOL! BE BLESSED!

[There's few words to describe the sheer chaos that erupts in Tetsuo's mind, turning his entire body into some wild hapless thing his brain has lost all control over. But the few that are adequate run thusly:

This is not submission. This is scrambling for any purchase he can grab hold of desperately like a cat trying to avoid the bathtub at all costs. This is a dog that heard 'vet' mentioned and took off on a mad dash for freedom. Something deep in his mind tripped the switch between depressed human being to wild animal, writing and thrashing to get out from under that pin.

Unfortunately for Tetsuo, he's spent most of half a year on a drug-addled bender across the US, or otherwise not eating, sleeping or doing anything well enough to give him much physical strength at this point. And all he's got to rely on is his horribly deteriorated physical capabilities.

Thrash all he wants, but he's not getting out of this unless Ikki lets him.]

[violentmotion]

[He can wait til he gets tired. It's cool.]

[iamtetsuo]

[Eventually the whirlwind of limbs dies down, panting from exertion and panic, eyes wide.

He tried. He failed. Again.

This is the part where he gets killed.

Again.

Right??]

[violentmotion]

[There's no help, no one seems to have come running at the dire struggle. If he even screamed, would anyone know? Maybe this death would have more dignity than the last, but it didn't make it any better.


Or Ikki could abruptly let go, roll off the bed and come up with the game system. His voice is muffled under the mask.]

... What? No flying types?

[He braces for Ikki to - ...to...



Randomly vanish, only to retrieve his still-running, somehow undamaged game.]

Wh- uh- no?

[No electric or rock either, just a fire, two normal types, a bug type and a water type of the useless flavor for a few more levels. SHAME HIM.]

[He scoots back to the bed, already bringing the character back to a computer. JFC.]

Edges a bit back when Ikki returns. What? Why did it matter.

(Don't you criticize his pokemon satcholins!)]

[He's either oblivious to the skittishness or just straight up doesn't care. He has his back to the bed and the screen tilted up so that Tetsuo can look at what he's doing.]

You haven't taken the fighting gym, right? Flying and psychic is the way to go. You're gonna get trounced like this.

[iamtetsuo]

[If Ikki's watching, he's not happy about the mention of 'psychic.' At all. There's a bitter twist to his mouth, eyes hardening.

He's got a psychic thing in that PC, too, leveled some. Was that what was in that sixth space..? There's a handful of other things, too, most types; a flying type in there as well, though it's not been touched past capture.

No grass anything, though.]

'll be fine.

[He says, having lost already a few rounds to the OTHER gym]

[He tries to look back, but the gorilla mask gets in the way. HE PULLS IT OFF AND THROWS IT TO THE CORNER OF THE ROOM.]

Ehhh? But you can be BETTER than fine!
