[He watches through it, right to its gory end. His hands shake a little as he turns it off. The grinding of his teeth is audible and the tracks of tears running down his face is unmistakable.

He knew that look. He knew that feeling. A man who'd been more than a friend. More than a hero. He'd been his brother. The person who was the greatest in the world, to him.

Had ripped Ikki's own heart as he'd killed his friends and supports, one at a time because Ikki had never actually really mattered.

This kid huddled next to him. He knew him, now.]

This... this fuck, is Pan? Right?

[Hunching further into Kaneda's jacket until the collar muffles his mumbled reply, Tetsuo nods numbly, flinching a little at the vehemence in Ikki's voice.]

...That's right. That's Pan...

[Who, ultimately, hadn't won. But in an infuriating reverse parallel to Tetsuo himself, Pan hadn't lost, either. Not really. It's thanks to him that Tetsuo's a powerless shadow now, meaningless and scared.

There's no mistaking the raw pain under his voice, soft and unsteady as it is. All that comforting rage... where had it gone? His safety net between himself and how he really felt was gone. He's not looking up at Ikki, shame and remembered horror keeping him from realizing Ikki's real reaction. Too caught up in his own tragedy and assumptions to even think to question their accuracy.

He got to see now just who Tetsuo was. And Tetsuo can't take refuge in denial anymore; that powerless weakling was who he had to always be.]

It's heavy.

[Ikki's voice is quiet. He rubs at his own face angrily.]

What he left you with, it's heavy, aint it?

It's nothing.

[But it's not just nothing, by the shaky bite to the words, the way he quietly snaps out a bitter correction. It's nothing. In its purest, most literal form. No goals. No point. No abilities. No hope.

No future.

[He reaches back and perfunctorily attempts to shove Testuo's face down into the mattress.]

[This time... Tetsuo just lets it happen. It can't get worse anymore, so whatever.]

[He cringes inwards, glaring dejectedly at the mattress as he tries to pull away. He doesn't have the willpower to stop this. Hell, some part of his new, ruined mind, that little voice that Pan fostered into an audible whisper in his head, mocks that he deserves this. Or deserves even less than this.]

What do you WANT from me?!

[If he sounds desperate, if he sounds pathetic, if he sounds close to tears.. that's because all three are absolutely true.]

[There's another long moment, and he just. Lets go. Without any explanation as to why.]

It aint nothing. They're trying to fill you back up. Dumbass.

[Tetsuo doesn't move. Aside from a small sniff, he doesn't make a sound.]

Tch. I want to beat that guy's fucking face in.

[There's a shifting of the mattress as Ikki gets up from it with angry energy.]

Sure, he wants to say. Go on, go get more revenge that Tetsuo can't. Go join the army that Tetsuo wasn't part of to take down the guy Tetsuo should.

But really, what's the point? So instead, the only motion is his body shifting a little with the mattress, hiding his reactions with the mattress and not speaking up at all. Whatever.]

[He considers saying something else, but what the fuck do you even say? He walks back out the door, planning on going for a ride to clear his head.

The game is left behind, at the edge of the bed.]
