[Kaidan you have weird tastes. But Ed does follow, entering the fast food place and eyeing the menu as he considers the questions. He himself has no memory on being here before, so it's all rather strange and new to him besides having Winry around.]
Oh. I'm Ed. My favourite breakfast food though...pancakes?
no subject
What's wrong with milk?
[ He was trodding to the counter, looking every bit like he belonged there. ]
Pancakes are okay, but they're all carbs. Carbs don't really do that much anyway.
[ He grinned. ] I like meat.
no subject
[But that face he makes doesn't last long as he tries to concentrate on the menu.]
Meat is good too. Just sometimes a little heavy in the morning. And I guess I had my fill of it on Yock Island and with Teacher running a butcher's.
no subject
[ He bounced from foot to foot. ] Empty calories don't stick with you, but I'm --
[ He shook his head. ] I'd love to live near a butcher, that sounds great!
[ After a moment though, he squinted, before stepping forward to order. ] You want something? I'll pay.
no subject
[Not that Ed minds. He's just a little tired of it after having so much with Izumi and Sig. But he glances to Kaidan at the offer, looking at the strange coins. Well, if he's willing to deal with payment, Ed's never one to turn down a free meal. Just curious what he might want in return.]
Sure. What's the catch?
no subject
[ He held out his wrist for the teller, who did something with the tattoo and rang his purchase off of that. ] It's fine, I promise! I work for the government normally! When I'm not... this tiny.
no subject
[Ed still seems to half expect something, but he's too busy about to decide just what to order when Kaidan distracts him again. Not just with the tattoo like he has, but the mention of the government. Being tiny.]
Apparently I did too. Or, I mean. I do. Back home. I have the pocketwatch, anyway, only State Alchemists get those.
[But. Right. Ordering. He places his, looking to Kaidan to check it's okay even as his hand moves to his pocket, a chain dangling. Evidently he still keeps the pocketwatch on him, though it almost seems longer on him now.]
no subject
Wait, you have something you weren't meant to? Or... were you not tiny before as well?
[ Well, not tiny comparatively. It is Edward Elric. ]
Were you caught up in this kid thing too?
no subject
[Ed shifts with him, letting others then place their orders as they wait to the side and chat.]
no subject
You just made clothes? That's so cool! We had to go buy some -- [ he scrunched up his nose. ] I'd rather spend it on something fun.
no subject
[He's cocky, perhaps. But he has every right to be. Being such a talented alchemist at his age when most would study for years as they were older and not get to his level.]
no subject
[ He asked, a little tip of his head. He was trying to make himself feel better about not having this kind of ability. ]
Lucky. [ It wasn't working. ]
no subject
[But otherwise. Yes. Be amazed and impressed, Kaidan! Let Ed bask in it. And almost miss hearing their order being called up. Almost. He's quick to react, eagerly bounding over to get their trays of food, trying to ignore his growling stomach as he then looks to the tables, which might be free.]
no subject
[ He follows with the food, quickly grabbing his tray, which was piled a lot higher than for any normal ten year old boy. There's that sweet, sweet, biotic metabolism. ]
It's still magic! You can't just...make clothes change unless you use magic!
no subject
[Yes, he will absolutely fight on this. Because it is not magic, no matter how many people might think so.]
no subject
[ He sighed, and ate a fry, once he flopped down in a seat that was much to big for him. ]
Changing your clothing from large to small is still pretty magical. Science is like...space ships, and omnitools, and stuff.
no subject
[Sitting down as well, already reaching to take a chip and start munching. He's hungry!]
no subject
And my omnitool is... [ He set down his first burger, half-devoured already. ]
It's this! [ he opened it, the haptic, orange display flaring to life. ] It's a hand-held computer. Kind of.
no subject
[brb temporarily ignoring food to lean over and peer at this strange orange thing at Kaidan's arm in curiosity and amazement.]
no subject
It also plays video games but I don't have any of those on here. [ He looks mildly disappointed. ] But they can play videos and music, if you have them rigged up right.
no subject
[He frowns, curious even as he shovels another couple of chips in to stave off his hunger.]
no subject
They're like the stuff on TV, except you control it. And then you can shoot fake things, or...drive, or do all kinds of things.
no subject
What's a tv? When you say shoot or drive, that stuff is for adults, right? We're not allowed guns. Or to drive. Not yet.
no subject
[ Especially for someone like less than two decades away from the 23rd century. ] Anyway, with video games, you can do it anyway. It's make-believe, just with... a screen, instead of in your head. And TVs are... like... [ He pointed to a set behind the counter, showing orders. ] Kind of like that, only with more interesting things on it.
no subject
[Ed pauses, listening and following the gesture to the counter, seeming to consider for a moment.]
Are there video games here?
