WHAT: Age plot kickoff!
WARNINGS: Cuteness.

[ LET'S GET THIS PARTY OFFICIALLY STARTED! Opening events so we don't do too much comm flooding (although people are welcome to make their own posts for the event). You're welcome to toplevel with your character if you'd like to have them show up somewhere else for this plot.

[ He sighed, dramatically. It was with all the world-weary knowledge that a small child could have for this kind of misery. ]

Do you know how much being a little kid makes you want to drink? Because right now? I wish I could drink something.

[siriusly]

Well, you can't now... [Manabu is not the in to underage drinking you may be seeking, friend.

a huff.] Are– are you alright, though? Besides the obvious. I mean, kids can't just run around on their own, even if they're not really...

[kanadian]

I know I can't now! [ He threw up his hands. ] That's the problem! [ They even had alcohol at home. It wasn't exactly like he couldn't simply... take it, but Kaidan was the kind of person who still did the right thing. ]

I'm fine, Manabu. I might look small, but I'm still a thirty five year old marine. [ Pointedly. Kids were protected because they were innocent. He...passed that point a long time ago. ]

[siriusly]

[grimace. this is so weird, and he's not even the one running around in kid's Sketchers...] R-right, I know. Sorry. [a grown-ass adult admonished by a kidlet, right here.]

[kanadian]

It's okay. [ He reached out, to pat him on the arm. ] I understand. It's hard to pretend I'm not 10 years old right now.

[ He sighed. ] It's weird! And nobody believes me, either! I even tried showing them a picture of me, but they didn't believe it.

[siriusly]

[well hey, little kid slaps feel like nothing. it's cool.] Can you blame 'em much? I mean...Unless stuff like this happens every other month...

[kanadian]

Nothing on this level, but weird stuff happens all the time! I mean, I have my ID, my biometric data matches...

[ To Kaidan, it seems logical. To everyone else, it's too far in the future to apply. ]

I guess that doesn't really matter here, though, does it?

[siriusly]

[weakly, turning so his arm is out of swatting reach:] Well, if it looks like a child and walks like a child... [or however that saying goes. maybe he should drop that.

consider it dropped.] But...But if it helps any, I know the guys behind the incident. I know they're doing everything they can to help... And, I mean, I can't fix any of it, but I'm around if you need help.

Just not with the drink problem. Sorry...

[kanadian]

Wait, you know who did this?

[ He asked, all too excitedly, practically bouncing from foot to foot, before he reached out to grab at his sleeve. ]

Who did it? We need to fix it.

[siriusly]

A–! [easy, ok! Manabu flinches, but relents and lets Kidkaidan tug at his arm, bobbing a little with the movement.] Ah, it's...Tadashi and his little brother. Erh, well...the little brother's big now, and the big brother's... [his face scrunches up and he shakes his head.] Well, you know what I mean! They got caught up in the mess, too.

[kanadian]

The who --?

[ It's the first lead he's gotten, and he's looking a little bit more concerned about it now. Driven, a little bit more of "Kaidan Alekno, Council Spectre" in his look than there was a moment before. Having hope does that kind of thing. ]

Can you take me to them? They have to fix this, we can't stay this young forever!

[siriusly]

I don't actually know where they're at, though... [whoops. he grimaces.] But you still have your communicator, right? I can give you their contacts.

[kanadian]

Yeah, please do? I need -- Um, I need to be older. I don't know how much longer I can put off going to work because I look like I'm ten before I get fired. They've been pretty understanding so far, but...

[ Somewhere in there, was the practical mind of an Alliance Major, after all. He was doing his due diligence by calling every day and telling them: "Nope, I'm still ten years old". ]

[siriusly]

Right... [he's envisioning something much more elaborate, like forged letters and friends passing the information second-hand. the idea that folks here are used to these kinds of shenanigans isn't really that believable to him.

anyway, he straightens back up and relinquishes his arm so he can tap around on his communicator.]

I'll just send them to you through this...And if they need to get a hold of you directly to fix what's wrong with you, that'll be easier for you...

[kanadian]

Yeah, okay.

[ He pulled up his omnitool, which of course he'd rigged to work with his communicator.

He was a smart man, but the tool was oversized on his tiny, tiny wrist, even if the haptic display shrunk with him, it still looked gigantic. ]

That'll work. I just -- I don't want to be this small for long. You know? This is -- I'm so tiny.

[siriusly]

Yeah, you are... [sorry, Kaidan; he's not saying this to be mean, he's just saying it because it's true and it still a wild idea!

but he kind of shakes himself out of it.] Is there anything else I should do for you? I mean, I can't fix the tech, of course...

[kanadian]

No, it's -- It's okay.

I mean, we're kind of bored, so we're trying to find things to do, but all the things we want to do we can't.

[ Like see action flicks, or buy violent video games. ] Do you know how many things we can't do as kids? No wonder they want to grow up fast.

[siriusly]

We? [blink.] You mean, you have friends stuck as kids, too?

[kanadian]

Yeah, uh -- [ He looked down at his feet, it was almost comical how cute it looked. ]

Me and one other person for sure. We're trying to figure out a solution, but we haven't found much yet.

[siriusly]

[Manabu smiles weakly. Kaidan stop being endearing, he's trying to remember you're like. a decade older than him.]

Until you talk to Tadashi and his brother, you may have to just come up with ways to pass time. I'm sure they can figure it out, though.

[kanadian]

[ Another dramatic, childlike sigh. ]

That's too much! I'm already running out of things to do! We already beat like three video games, and I'm bad at them!

[siriusly]

[he can't stop himself from chuckling, pocketing his communicator and putting his hands on his hips.]

You're just spending your time indoors playing video games? My mom would never have that, I don't know about yours. [tilting his head.] What about games outside? There's that baseball field, remember?

[kanadian]

Of course not! [ He sighed. ]

We did that too, but it's boring. [ Compared to the future, anyway. Kaidan always was a bit of a nerd. ]

[siriusly]

Ehhh? [squinting, smirking a little.] I don't know, that might just mean you're bad at it.

[kanadian]

I'm not bad at it!

[ He kicked a foot out. ] I'm just -- it's hard to play just the two of us, and we're...weird compared to the other kids, so we can't play with them.

[ They were stronger and faster, despite their sizes. Kaidan had an implant that meant he could lift people at a moment's notice. ]

I know it sounds like excuses, sorry. It's just... a little weird. Being this young.
