[ LET'S GET THIS PARTY OFFICIALLY STARTED! Opening events so we don't do too much comm flooding (although people are welcome to make their own posts for the event). You're welcome to toplevel with your character if you'd like to have them show up somewhere else for this plot.

I don't know. I'm getting sick of sandwiches. We have some money, if you wanted to order something?

[Because while sandwiches are a safe choice and easy to make for kids, that doesn't mean that should be all the two eat. He walks along the familiar route back from Nonah to the portal, heading in the general direction of Heropa in any case.]

I could make spaghetti.

[All the fixings were at home, at any rate. Winry didn't trust herself to make stew, not yet. Standing on a chair to cook spaghetti was one thing, it was browning the meat and putting in spices and adding tomato sauce. But stew took a little more work, and she was afraid she'd get distracted.]

Yeah. That sounds good! Something warm.

[Or rather, hot but not burning hot at least. That doesn't seem so difficult. He's willing to let her cook, given his own experience doing so thus far has mostly been with campfires at Yock Island. It's one thing to assist Granny or Izumi in the kitchen, but another to try on their own as best they can.]

Okay! And we can toast some bread to go with it!

[Butter bread with garlic and herbs sprinkled on top, maybe a few chopped tomatoes...Winry's mouth is watering.]

Even better! I'm starving.....

[Probably because chances were with Ed being Ed, he'd figured something for lunch but gotten too distracted while reading. Or just forgotten about the meal entirely in the midst of his attempt to research more about this place.

At the very least, the Porter makes it fairly quick to get them home to do just that. Ed at least helps in gathering the ingredients they would need before letting Winry get started.]

So am I, because we didn't eat! [Winry glares at Ed. The library thing, it gets old.

But it doesn't take long to get the meat cooking, and Winry finds some vegetables to make a salad, and she has Ed butter the bread and season it while she's starting the water for the pasta.]

You should have said something then!

[Because it can't. Just be his fault for getting engrossed in the books. Right? Clearly. But he can at least manage to help with some of the preparations, buttering and seasoning the bread easily enough.]

This shouldn't take too long to cook though, right?

I tried! You told me to go get a sandwich but there weren't any!

[Winry still accepts his help. Or bosses him around a little. Either way, the salad's made, the bread's seasoned and baking in the oven, the spaghetti sauce is bubbling and the pasta's cooking.]

It won't take too long now. Go get washed up.

[Still bossing him around.]

Oh. I don't even remember that....

[Because books. Oops?

But he mostly behaves now, helping to get dinner sorted before giving a pout and roll of his eyes at the bossing to wash up.]

I know, I know.

[Barely refraining from saying 'mum' after that as he turns and heads to the bathroom to wash his hands.]

[Winry knows all about Ed and his books. There had been a lot of studying back home, after all, all day, all night. And there'd been a lot less playing once that happened. Still, she hopes it won't be forever before they were back to their real ages.

Trying not to think about it too hard, she fetches down some plates and utensils and sets them on the table. While Ed's washing up, Winry feeds Zoey, then goes to wash up herself when Ed comes back.]

[A lot less playing. All for the sake of attempting to see their mother's smile again. Though with Ed, he doesn't even seem to recall this as wrong beyond the strange pocketwatch he still carries with him, the too large clothing he was initially wearing.

But it doesn't take long before he's ready to eat, back at the table and thanking her too once they have it ready and served.]

Thanks, Winry. Now lets eat!

[He tucks in happily, munching the bread as he eyes the salad. But at least she hasn't put a glass or bottle of milk out for him to drink. For once he seems almost happy since their arrival. Or, as happy as he can be considering the circumstances. With training, he'd missed this. Spending time with her. Not that he'd admit that, of course.]
