AGE PLOT SHENANIGANS

WHAT: Age plot kickoff!

[ LET'S GET THIS PARTY OFFICIALLY STARTED! Opening events so we don't do too much comm flooding (although people are welcome to make their own posts for the event). You're welcome to toplevel with your character if you'd like to have them show up somewhere else for this plot.

Eh, erm, maybe... He was really on his own, so I don't know the details. He doesn't have Cerberus here, though.

Cerbrus? ... Is that his Persona?

Yeah. [A yip of agreement! Koromaru has finished one of his laps and stands in front of Hiro waiting for praise. Didja see that Hiro??]

It suits him, I think. I read up on these things so I know a little. Guardian dog of the underworld... Koromaru was always protecting the shrine, too.

[ He sure did. Leaning down to pet that puppy, aww yes. ]

Symbolic I guess? You think he knows what it means?

If he heard what I just said, he probably does now. But even if I didn't... I think he might.

[He makes sure Koromaru is sitting there before he steps out into the yard, finding a spot like he did the last time he was out here, with enough room that he wouldn't hit anything or anybody nearby.]

I don't know how much the others would've told you, but it makes sense that Koromaru, who stayed to protect the shrine after his owner died, would have a Persona like that. Our Personas are a reflection of ourselves... Cerberus really is Koromaru, and I think he's pretty proud of it.

[ Huh. Cool. He opens his mouth to reply ... and then a thought occurs to him. ]

So what's yours mean?

[Oh. He makes a flicking gesture with his wrist, pauses to think.]

How much do you know about the story of Narcissus?

Uhhhhh. He was a narcissist?

[ Brilliant deduction there. ]

[orangehoodie]

[Weren't you supposed to be a genius.]

... Yeah, that's where the name comes from.

Narcissus loved himself a lot. So much, that he looked down on people who loved him. Nemesis didn't forgive that, so she drowned him as a punishment for hubris.

Nemesis is the personification of divine retribution and true justice. Sometimes, also the goddess of revenge.

[Put that together now with what you know about your roomie, Hiro.]

[ Genius engineer, jeez. There's only so much room in even his brain. The revenge connection, though ... he immediately gets it as soon as Ken spells it out. ]

Wait. You mean - because of your mom--?

[orangehoodie]

That's what I thought, too. And maybe. I don't know anymore, you know?

I still have her, but revenge isn't what I want anymore. i just don't know what, yet.

[microbrobotics]

[ He keeps petting Koro for a long moment as he thinks about what to say. ]

... It's hard. When it's the only feeling you've really felt in so long, and then it's just over with ...

[Koromaru licks at Hiro's hand in an attempt to comfort.]

Yeah. I wasn't... I think I was planning to die after that, so I don't have any idea. For now, though, I'm still in SEES. So I'll do what I can here.

[microbrobotics]

[ Hiro's eyes widen at that. ]

You were - what?

[orangehoodie]

Ah--

[Ken was focusing on other things -- like figuring out stances, how long his limbs actually are, if he'll be able to figure out this spear -- but he looks back at Hiro. And shakes his head.]

Ah, I'm sorry. I didn't mean t-- it was just what I think I was planning, before everything went more wrong than it already was. I don't think it anymore, either. [But it wasn't like he had anything to live for, and it should only have been natural after what he was planning. An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth. A life for a life... He sighs.]

I can't, though. I'm not allowed to die until we end all that's going on back home. Anyway, are you ready?

[microbrobotics]

[ He just falls silent as he listens to Ken, most of his excitement now evaporated. He'll still want to do this spear thing, but ... ]

No. I understand the feeling.

... C'mon, let's hit some stuff.

[orangehoodie]

... Hiro. [He rolls his shoulder in half a shrug.] I meant it when I said it before; I'm glad you were able to do the right thing.

[He raises his arm now, fingers spread. And in a quick fluid motion he brings it down, flicking his wrist like he's swinging a sword, perhaps, if he had anything -- then there's a moment when light flashes and static zaps through the air, and immediately, there's a long cross-shaped spear held in his hand. It's long, still longer than Ken's tall even at his new height, and the end is sharp and shiny but for a few chips on the blade; he frowns a little at that, but he brushes it off and lets himself grin in satisfaction.]

There.

[ Whoa. At least spear-summoning is enough to grab his attention again and perk him up. He really, really doesn't want to talk about the mental state he was in after Tadashi's death. ]

Holy - is that a superpower thing or a Persona thing?

[orangehoodie]

[Superpowers are always a good distraction, even for the one using it. There's a tingle from the electricity where his hand is in contact with the spear, and every summon gives him a bit of an adrenaline boost. This is his power.]

It's a superpower thing. Usually, we just have weapons we keep stored away when we're not at Tartarus, but I got this ability when I arrived here.

Dude, that is sick. I wish I could do that.

[orangehoodie]

[He does think it's super duper cool. There's a little part of him that's sad he can't show it off as often, so there's a bounce in his step as he gets into a ready stance, weighing the weapon in his hands. It's good.]

I don't know if powers change for people here, but maybe you can make one? A weapon like this, I mean, that you can also keep compact. I mean, I can always teach you how to use these in a fight.

[ He brightens a bit. ]

I could kinda build one out of microbots, if I made up a special batch just for this. Or if Dr. Pym ever lets me in on how he gets those particles of his to work.

[orangehoodie]

[He blinks.]

I'll leave the robotics of that to you. The biggest problem with compacting long weapons like this, or any weapon, is that segments make it weaker. That means more points that it could start breaking from. You might be able to work around that, though.

That's why the doc's way would be better, except I have no idea how he does it. He discovered particles that can grow and shrink things.

... Inorganic particles? Really?

[Doesn't that break the law of physics??]
