AGE PLOT SHENANIGANS

WHAT: Age plot kickoff!

[ LET'S GET THIS PARTY OFFICIALLY STARTED! Opening events so we don't do too much comm flooding (although people are welcome to make their own posts for the event). You're welcome to toplevel with your character if you'd like to have them show up somewhere else for this plot.

And yet I did it anyway.

[ She has many regrets, so many, but they are not for the ears of wee little Kaidan.

She shifts her staff to her back so her arms are free to cross over her chest, looking right back down at him with eyebrows raised. Is he judging her? Him, a tiny child? Really. ]

Yes, that's me. Have you even noticed that you're a child right now or is that not considered strange here?

[kanadian]

Oh it's very strange.

[ He looked her right in the eye, and shook his head, showing for just a moment the kind of trepidation that a small child could feel, St being so out of place, he frowned, and looked around again, like he was still looking for someone to show up, and frowned when he didn't notice anybody familiar. ]

But I can't freak out right now, I'm a tiny child, and I should be a thirty five year old man.

[whathawksdo]

[ So frowny for his shiny new age! ]

I think you might be entitled to a freak out, all things considered. Now, I know you were looking for your boyfriend, but don't you think that might go faster if you weren't at constant risk of tripping over your own pants?

[kanadian]

[ He looked down at his pants, before tugging them back up. ]

I can at least move. [ He said, stuffily, like that was the best he was going to get. ]

Besides, until I get some clothes, this is going to be the best I can do. It's at least practical.

[whathawksdo]

Sort of move, anyway. [ If only she had a belt to offer! That would probably help him, poor kid. ] I don't think there's anything your size back at the house, unfortunately, but if I remember right, there should be a store with clothes about another block away from the park.

[ She'll gesture somewhat in that direction. ]

I could go pick up a few things for you if you'd rather sit somewhere and keep on trying to frown us all to death.

Hey! I'm looking for someone, not frowning!

[ No, he was definitely frowning everyone to death, but he just squinted, and crossed his arms. His shirt sagged slightly. ]

I mean, I guess if you want to help, you can, but I'll be fine. What if Shepard's in trouble too? I need to find him first.

[whathawksdo]

What kind of trouble could he possibly get into? This place isn't exactly crawling with darkspawn or anything else particularly nasty.

[ Said the woman who could get in trouble simply by standing idly by somewhere, anywhere. ]

But fine, let's find Shepard first.

[ But one of them is going to slow the other down, so! Kaidan is tiny for his new age and Hawke's an experienced enough older sister for sudden and unexpected child slinging. Just give her a second to shift her staff to the other side of her back aaand in the next few seconds, Kaidan may very well be suffering the indignity of being hauled up and perched on one shoulder.

She's totally got this. ]

There! Tall again.

[kanadian]

[ Kaidan squirmed, protesting loudly that he wasn't a child, that he didn't need to be picked up, that he was fine like he was, before -- ]

Okay, maybe I'll see him. Besides, you don't know Shepard, he'll get into trouble no matter what he does!

[ Case in point. Shepard was always getting into trouble by doing exactly that. Then again, bioware protagonist. He looked around, and huffed softly. ]

I don't know where he's at -- if you see a guy about... [ He held out his hand, a bit taller than Hawke ] This tall, shaved head, scar on his forehead, point him out to me.

[ ]It would probably be his luck, if Shepard didn't have this happen to him. ]

[whathawksdo]

And if he's tiny like you are...?

[ Sounds like the same thought crossed her mind. Anyway, once she's sure she's balanced enough to walk with a brat on her shoulder, she'll use her staff as an actual walking stick for once to even it out and resume strolling on down the sidewalk. ]

What happened, anyway? I heard an explosion and come out here to find you being, well, a little you.

[kanadian]

I don't know, one minute I was normal, the next...

[ He squinted, squirming on her shoulder to look around for Shepard. The problem was, of course, that if Shepard was little, he was going to have some trouble. ]

And if Shepard's tiny too, we have a problem. He's... probably going to get in trouble.

[whathawksdo]

Oh good, another mysterious mystery.

[ Well, no fixing that, then, not unless they run into a clue. She idly looks around all the same, almost hoping one will appear, but no. No sign of anyone fitting Shepard's description, either, sadly. ]

So he's going to be in trouble no matter what. I think I know that type. [ Very, very well. ] Does he still get in trouble even when you are around?

[kanadian]

Sometimes.

[ He said simply, his voice a little world weary at that. ] He just kind of...finds it. It's easier when we're watching each other's backs, but you can't stop the universe from trying to take all of us down.

[ Wow, deep shit sounds weird coming out of a kid's mouth. ]

But we do what we can.

[whathawksdo]

[ Well, there's a familiar story. ]

You know, I used to know someone just like that... [ She just won't say who. ] Sounds like he's a pretty lucky guy to have you around, though.

[kanadian]

[ A snort, from up on her shoulder. It's supremely inelegant. ]

I dunno about that one. I'm the lucky one.

[ In a rare moment of adult honesty -- he's not gonna have many of those for a while. ] Besides, someone needs to watch his back.

[whathawksdo]

And I'm going to tell him you said that if we find him.

[ Said in a joking sing-song way. Well, maybe joking. She might do it. ]

[kanadian]

Oh --

[ He scrunched up, in between an adult need to ask her not to embarrass him, and childish pride. ]

So? Maybe he'll like it?

[ He insisted, although part of him was screaming in embarrassment. ]

[whathawksdo]

Hmmm. Probably.

[ Sadly, any further jokes she might have on this subject aren't exactly "child-friendly", so she leaves it there. ]

See him anywhere yet? Or possibly the plume of destruction you're so sure he'll be leaving in his wake by now?

[kanadian]

No, uh --

[ He looked around, still squinting over the rest of it. ]

I haven't seen anything yet. I don't know where he'll be, but I last saw him... this way. [ He pointed. ]

[whathawksdo]

Then that's the way we'll go.

[ Onward! To... adventure? Maybe adventure. Or maybe tons of other confused children, considering the situation, but that's almost like adventure! ]

[kanadian]

Ok, maybe he'll be --

[ He huffed softly, and started scanning wildly. ]

[whathawksdo]

Calm down there, kiddo. I'm sure there's nothing actually dangerous out here to get him.

[ There's a pause after that, rethinking whether or not she's just jinxed everyone. Hmm. ]

Though if there is, I can blast it. Easy enough.

[kanadian]

Yeah, probably a good idea. Normally I can use my biotics, but I don't know if my --

[ He winced. ] If I'm gonna be able to do that.

AND SUDDENLY HE WAS AN OLD DUDE AGAIN this kills the mage shoulder

I have no idea what those are, but I'm sure magic can cover whatever they would do. So no problem, right?

GIANT SPACE SOLDIER ON YOUR ShOULDER HAWKE

Yeah, no problem.

[ He doesn't know if he should be happy, or sad, if his biotics aren't working. It's so much a part of him, that...

Well, he sighed, and looked around, before he turned his head, looking around wildly. ]

I think -- I think I heard my name --

[ There's a pause. ] Can you let me down?

YOUR BUTT IS TOO BIG YOU BUTTHEAD ASTRONAUT

Did you now? [ Not that she's honestly questioning it. He'll find himself set back down on the ground soon enough regardless. ] Must be him, unless a lot of other people are around who'd be yelling that.
