AGE PLOT SHENANIGANS

WHAT: Age plot kickoff!
WARNINGS: Cuteness.

[ LET'S GET THIS PARTY OFFICIALLY STARTED! Opening events so we don't do too much comm flooding (although people are welcome to make their own posts for the event). You're welcome to toplevel with your character if you'd like to have them show up somewhere else for this plot.

[ Oh, right. Duh. Cut him some slack, he's been awful distracted here. ]

... Okay, yeah, good point. Nevermind.

[ He sighs. ]

I'm thinking it might have happened at the festival, whatever it was. Since that's why most people got within range of this thing.

[tadeadshi]

Had to have happened there. But what though?

[He rubs at his forehead, trying to think.]

Weren't there fliers or something? Think they'd have a list of events?

[ Hiro brightens at the suggestion - he has one of those, actually, because he'd been planning on stopping by after work tomorrow. Too bad he'd gotten the date wrong. ]

Gimme a sec, I'll go grab it.

[ He takes long, distance-devouring strides towards the stairs and heads up. Still a little clumsy in his taller body, but goddamn the legs make up for it. ]

[tadeadshi]

[Oh that's just not even fair. Yeah, sure go ahead and rub it in. Even though .... how often would something like this happen? Tadashi watches him go upstairs and sits on the floor in front of the couch waiting. Thinking and realizing this may be the only time he ever gets to see his little brother grown up. The whole 'leaving and dying' thing keeps finding its way into his life here no matter what the situation it feels like; he should've lived and seen his brother grow up like this, been able to see Aunt Cass get emotional over Hiro's first growth spurt. Or how Hiro looks so much like their late-father now. That's really the part that makes his heart ache.

He needs to work on schooling his face into a neutral-happy expression, preferably in the two minutes it takes Hiro to get back or he's bound to have his brother walk in and find him on the floor a little heartbroken.

[ Alas for Tadashi, this is the one time that Hiro's put something away where it's supposed to be. He grabs the flyer right off the top of his desk and heads back down, again taking the stairs in wide strides. He really likes being taller, okay. Then he turns the corner back to the living room, holding up the paper - and stops. The expression on his brother's face is awful hard to miss. ]

Hey ... You okay? [ He tries to lighten his tone. ] I was only out of sight for like a minute there.

[tadeadshi]

[He blinks up to him, not sure if Hiro saw or not until he speaks. Instead, he chooses to focus on the flier. Tadashi gets back up to his feet, comes right over and reaches for it -- ugh too high. Jerk. He tries to match his brother's lighter tone.]

Hey, you found it! What's on the list?

[microbrobotics]

[ He hasn't forgotten that heartbroken face, young man. But the opportunity to hold something juuuust out of Tadashi's reach is just too much to pass up. He holds the flier up higher with both hands, reading it above Tadashi's head and out of his reach. ]

"Spring Festival, March 25th..." blah blah blah, accepting food donations to pay for tickets - ooh, here's a list.

[ There's a list of different speakers and topics. It's awful vague though; Sabriel's is merely "musical magic." ]

[tadeadshi]

[All Tadashi can do is hope Hiro forgets about it before this all wears off. He is not having that conversation while they're switched and he feels a lot more vulnerable. But the minute the paper's out of reach, he stops trying. But Tadashi also has way better eyesight than his brother.]

There's only like three magic things there, it's gotta be one of those.

[microbrobotics]

[ Soon, Tadashi. He'll drag it out of you at some point during this event okay. Meanwhile, he squints at the smaller lines on the paper. Even being closer to it, he's having a bit more trouble. ]

Oh yeah, you're right. Sabriel ... Uh ... And a couple others. I know her - she was gonna teach me magic, but it interfered too badly with my tech.

[tadeadshi]

[...Huh. He looks between Hiro's eyes and the papers and surely he shouldn't have that much trouble... Something to put in a pin in and come back to later.]

Really. That may be it then, one of them. Something we should probably keep an eye on, if the memory problems keep up after we get this fixed, we need to track them down.

[microbrobotics]

[ He nods. Finally lowering the paper so Tadashi can grab it if he really wants to. ]

Yeah. Hopefully it'll all wear off soon. I mean, I wouldn't mind staying like this for a while, but I think Shinji might kill me if this lasts longer than a week...

[tadeadshi]

Yeah, here's hoping.

[He can't help the sigh. The thought of being stuck like this for more than a day worries him. Or what if it doesn't just fix itself. What if they can't find a way to reverse it.

Too many factors that have him worried. He finally looks at the flier.]

Man this would've been cool too go see too.

[microbrobotics]

[ It's still strange being able to tell that his brother is worried. And he's not sure if it's his physical age, the angle, or just plain ol' guilt for causing this thing, but Hiro's especially worried about his brother. There has to be a way to take his mind off this that won't be reckless and/or messing around when people are in trouble. So he leans forward to see the times on that flier ... and brightens. ]

It's still running, y'know. You wanna go?

[tadeadshi]

[Hiro, that is exactly reckless and/or messing around when people are in trouble.

Tadashi, however, also does not want to be in the house with an angry Shinjiro who may be aged up or down. Maybe they can use this to try and figure out what happened with the memory problems. And get a full picture of just how bad this is.]

Diiiiid you wanna go?

[ Shut up, it's totally useful. He's allowed to have ulterior motives if one of them is good. ]

Yeah, I wanted to. Before all this happened.

... Besides, we can make sure everyone who got affected gets home safely. Whaddya say?

[tadeadshi]

[Okay now he's smirking.]

You better watch out, you may turn into a responsible adult before this day's over.

C'mon. [He taps at his arm and nods to the door, the most Tadashi thing he could do at this point.]

[microbrobotics]

[ Such a groan at that, but he starts heading in that direction. ]

And you might get a chance to actually be a kid for once in your life.

[tadeadshi]

And what is that supposed to mean?

[Hey, he had plenty of chances to be a kid! They just also happened to involve miniature robots, hydraulics, and keeping his kid brother happy and safe.]

[microbrobotics]

[ He grabs a jacket from the front hall and heads outside. ]

Uh, I sure don't remember much of it? Seriously, when's the last time you honestly just goofed around?

[tadeadshi]

Since -- [Oh.] Helping you build your microbots.

[microbrobotics]

Dude, that definitely doesn't count. You were still helping me. Gimme something completely selfish.

[ He's really, really hoping there's something recent or else he's about to feel even more guilty. ]

[tadeadshi]

[It's... hard to even think like that? For him, helping his little brother be happy is selfish and makes himself happy.]

Helping design the suit we're going to build totally counts.

[microbrobotics]

Still helping me, bro.

[ His tone softens a little. Does his brother really not have anything that's just his? How long has it been that way? How did Hiro never notice? ]

You know what, I'm buying you ice cream. Or some other kind of ridiculous festival thing.

[tadeadshi]

[As long as Hiro was bullied; Tadashi knew when he was a kid that he needed something and sharing everything he has was all Tadashi knew how to do.

He did have one thing completely and totally his .... That Hiro kinda took after he was gone. He speeds up a little to walk side by side with him out the door.]

You seriously don't have to do that. Let's just find out where the memory thing happened and if it was affected by us.

[microbrobotics]

[ Yeeeeeep. In fact, Hiro took not only Baymax but also all of Tadashi's nerd friends. So even if they turn up here, it won't just be a friendship with Tadashi any more.

Meanwhile, Hiro makes a frustrated noise. ]

Come on, I didn't even have dinner. We can grab something and then eat while we investigate.
