AGE PLOT SHENANIGANS

[ LET'S GET THIS PARTY OFFICIALLY STARTED! Opening events so we don't do too much comm flooding (although people are welcome to make their own posts for the event). You're welcome to toplevel with your character if you'd like to have them show up somewhere else for this plot.

[ Why do people keep asking that? It's - okay, it's an extremely relevant question, but Hiro doesn't like this idea that somehow this thing is automatically his fault. Even though it is, in fact, completely his fault. When he sees Magicman normal, his shoulders slump in relief. So far he's only seen his brother, so if Magicman isn't affected, then maybe it's just the two of them... ]

So I might have been running some experiments in the garage.

[hypnotherapy]

[ You use the garage as your workshop and you look taller and also older, Hiro, and this is why you are getting asked that question repeatedly.

He skips past 'what for' because the results are obvious here, and gets up off the couch. ]

What got damaged? [ He's already quickly checked Hiro for any signs of injury, so he can cross that off the list. The house is a little shaken up, but otherwise he can't see anything that immediately needs repairing. ]

[ Hiro is completely unharmed, at least. Not even his clothes are blackened, because he's currently wearing Tadashi's. The window in this room is cracked a bit, and there's dishes on the floor in the kitchen, but otherwise nothing is immediately and visibly damaged .. ]

Uh. Well, I blew up the generator.

[hypnotherapy]

[ That's a weight off. ]

...Ah. [ He assumes that Hiro doesn't mean the original one - they'd be sensible enough to make a copy. ] Well. That will need cleaning up.

Who else was affected? Just you?

[ The Hamada brothers are smarter than THAT at least. The original is still safely tucked away, waiting for them to take it back to the tech company it came from. ]

Me, my brother ... I don't know who else yet. Hopefully it's just us.

[hypnotherapy]

That was a large shockwave. [ He hasn't checked his comm yet, or he'd probably know the extent. ] We can only hope.

What were you trying to do with it, specifically? Was aging you up the intended use? [ He's gonna start picking things up...he'll deal with whatever happened to that generator later. ] I heard something about modifications.

[ They'll find out soon enough. This was not a minor event... ]

Yeah, that was the plan. Y'know, something fun? Harmless? A chance to be taller than him for once? And that part did work.

Mm. Sounds like the 'harmless' part backfired a little. [ Look at all these broken things, geez...just putting stuff back where it should be here. ]

So you're going to have to make another copy. How long did it take you to make the first?

[ Ughhh, he knows. He looks pretty guilty about it already. ]

I didn't know it would break all the stuff in the house. Or affect my brother. It took weeks to get the first one running, so it's gonna take weeks to repair this one...

[hypnotherapy]

Ah, well. These things happen. When you're ready to return the generator, I can do the work there.

[ He flips his comm into his hand from his pocket with an absentminded hand motion - he's had to find something to replace his easy telekinesis as a netnavi - and glances at it for a second.

Uh. ]

...I feel as if our hopes that the shockwave didn't go further than this house were a little unfounded.

Really? I've been meaning to, but I couldn't figure out how to do it without getting my brother arrested.

[ Because let's face it, Tadashi's in hotter water than Hiro if that goes awry. At least Hiro's too young to be charged as an adult. Also: he definitely hasn't seen the network yet. ]

Huh? What's wrong?

It's a good thing the vehicles here have their own automated systems, otherwise I'd find it a little more difficult. But I can drive them without being seen. [ He'll just leave out the part where he used the parking detection system to chase Hornets around. ] It's the least I can do after bringing it to you in the first place.

Ah, well - [ Just kind of shows his comm screen to Hiro. Look at all those posts that contain either small kids or much older adults. ] It had very widespread success, at least?

Then yeah. Let's get this thing back as soon as initial repairs are done.

[ And then ... oh god. His mouth drops open as he realizes exactly how many comm posts there are. This is way past the house. Did they hit the entire city? Or were there just tons of ImPorts nearby somehow? He does recall there being a local festival, but he's not sure if that had any impact ... ]

Hooooly crap. This is bad.

Just notify me when you're ready and I'll take care of the rest.

[ He thinks it's kind of funny, really, now that it's out there and nothing can be done, but he does at least mildly hope nobody was in the middle of doing something potentially dangerous for a kid. ]

It may have been the festival that did it, but this seems quite widespread.

I wonder how long this will last? This is quite a disruption.

I ... uh, I don't know.

[ An awkward pause. ]

I sort of rerouted all the power in the house through our generator copy.

[hypnotherapy]

Oh. [ A pause, and then with a kind of deadpan tone: ] That's a problem.

[ okay, back to normal and reasonably helpful. ] Well, it's no surprise that the generator blew, I suppose. That explains a lot.

The changes are physical, so hopefully the nanites in everyone's bodies will serve their intended purpose at some point. [ You'd hope. ] How long were you intending to stay like this, if it had worked normally?

Just a couple hours. I mean, that's how it was supposed to work. I'd turn myself older and then the nanites would undo it pretty quickly.
