[OPEN]
WHO: Yurio and YOU
WHERE: Heropa, various locations in the city
WHEN: Throughout April
WHAT: Open log/catch-all
WARNINGS:None forseen adults intimidating teenagers with soul monsters
A - Out and About
[After a suspicious absence during the latter half of March, Yuri has finally returned to the public eye. He can be found spending a lot of time at the larger public parks that Heropa has to offer, frequently jogging the walking trails that wind through it or taking a break to lounge in a sunny patch of grass by the lake shore.
And, while Viktor has banned him from any truly strenuous exercise, it hasn't been enough to stop him from making use of the skate park located on the larger park's grounds. He looks positively delighted racing along railings and swooping through halfpipes or testing how much height he can get off the ramps that dot the area. There are a few falls here and there, but there are falls in figure skating too. Nothing that he doesn't pop right back to his feet from.
And finally, he always ends his days spent around the park with a trip to a nearby ice cream and smoothie parlor, offering treats ranging from painfully healthy blended fruit and veggie options, sweeter fruit and yogurt mixes, and positively decadent milkshakes. It's a perfect end to long days spent outside.]
B - Back to Basics
[The bulk of Yuri's time is spent at the local ice rink. He's been prohibited from any intensive training following his fall into the pit in De Chima, but he's free to practice step sequences and some of the most basic jumps—nothing that will strain his knee. It looks like mindless repetition most of the time, but occasionally he'll work on stringing all the different segments together into a very simplified version of a short program. There's a grace to these moments in practice, a precise sort of fluidity that can draw a viewer in regardless of his power—until he stumbles over some step or another and has to begin again.]
C - Cooking with Cat
[On weekends, Yuri pays a visit to the local community center to take part in the cooking classes offered. Join him and learn how to fry fish, bake a peach cobbler, make a shellfish fritter, or make a savory slaw to pair with it all!]
D - Do whatever
[Have another idea? Feel 100% free to make your own starter! Hit me up at
jiora with any questions or ideas you want to chat about.]

[ It wasn't really a surprise to see one of the three of them already on the ice, though Adachi wasn't counting on it being the brat. He was sorely tempted to go down there and thump him over the head. Still, he came up to the benches around the rink, thumping his bag and skates down, a smirk taking over his face. ]
Hnnn~? Never thought I'd see Yurio-kun just doing the basics~
[ Yeah, no, he wasn't in the mood to be nice at the moment. ]
no subject
I broke my knee, asshole. Even if it was healed Viktor's not going to let me jump right back into heavy training until he's satisfied.
no subject
[ Was that little sing-song note in his voice getting annoying yet? He hoped it was, because he wasn't going to stop any time soon. Adachi shrugged lightly after a moment, reaching to grab for his skates, before he paused, sliding a very fake smile toward Yuri. ]
Speaking of Viktor... I think someone here owes me an apology. I wonder who that could be~?
no subject
I already told Viktor I'm not going to apologize to you.

B-ish!
Yuri had told Gran that he'd teach him how to skate, a request Yuri ha been happy to oblige to when they first met. And that's exactly what he was trying to do. Key word: Trying. While Gran had leg muscle to talk about for days to come (Aliea soccerballs were roughly 40+ lbs and made of metal, after all. Kicking those was no small feat), the muscles used in soccer are drastically different than ones used in ice skating. He could have had perfectly toned calves and still slipped on his ass.
Which would explain why he looks like a newborn baby giraffe right now, legs pigeontoed as he tries to keep himself balanced on the ice, holding onto the side of the rink as if it was his only lifeline. Green eyes stare at the glass like surface with slight apprehension, as if he let go would send him sliding right away. His teeth dug into his lip, thankfully hidden by the giant scarf around his neck (Reina had insisted).
But not one to let fear rule him, he reassures himself, slapping the sides of his face (and letting go of that side in the process), before pushing off.]
Here I go...!
[His skates obey, at least for the time being, as he pushes himself off, making sure not to take his eyes off the other side of the rink. "Don't look down" he told himself, "Don't look down or you'll fall."]
no subject
You're doing pretty good so far.
no subject
Ahah! You spoke too soon, Yuri-kun!
[He smiles, shuffling his skates back together so he's able to stand upright.]
It's a lot harder than you make it look.
no subject
Trust me, I was just as bad when I was first starting. My grandpa had to hold my hands and walk me around the ice when I was learning.

Erik...hey. [He finally remembers to actually step into the room.] It's good to see you again.

[ And not as a cat this time, thank goodness. They can just elect to not talk about that if it makes things easier. ]
Ready to learn how to cook?
[ He picks an apron off one of the hooks and tosses it to Yuri ]
no subject
I mean, I already know, but I thought it'd be nice to learn more recipes.

Two Russians for the price of one!
So Viktor is openly surprised when he nearly runs into Yuri when he stops in the doorway so suddenly. He peeks around him to wave at the instructor. ]
Ah, hello~ Are you a friend of Yura's?
whAT A DEAL!
[ He puts two and two together pretty quickly on this one. ]
You must be Viktor.
[ And then he holds a hand out, for shaking! ]
It's nice to finally meet you.
no subject
Ah! I've been wanting to talk to everyone who helped Yura down there.
[ Viktor's other hand comes around to clasp Erik's, enclosing it with both of his and gripping it warmly. ]
Thank you for keeping my Yura safe.

And anyway, the class ends with cooked food. Adric's got a tiny notebook, a stubby pencil, and a kitchen utensils cheat sheet he printed at the library, because he probably never heard of a whisk until he started trying to pre-game for this class. None of it is helping him figure out how to properly fold eggs into anything, though. ]
I hope this course turns out to be worth the effort. It seemed more interesting than any of the others I asked about.
no subject
Did you look at more than this one? I just picked the first one I saw with open spaces.
no subject
[ He shrugs. Eating is easier than cooking. Before he got here, he never even really thought about it. ]
It's been interesting trying to find somewhere that doesn't sound too difficult or especially boring. Of course, having an immediate opening did help. Being put on a wait list hardly sounded useful.
no subject
[He straightens up properly, turning towards the other boy with a curious tilt of his head.]
What made you decide to come to a cooking class if you've never done it before? Just bored?

heropa is warm and humid, almost oppressively so, but it's kind of hard to loiter in stores day after day when shopkeepers start to recognize you. besides, even at her worst points, she absolutely adores being outside--smelling dirt and lounging about in the grass just suits her. it's not like she's going to school, anyway.
she's not the only regular. this one boy keeps showing up, whether it's jogging, or over at the skate park. it's hard not to notice him--he's surprisingly pretty, after all, in an almost supernatural way. it's a little intimidating, but not enough to keep her from giving him a small, awkward wave after the second week straight of her watching him skate while listening to punk tunes on her walkman.]
Uh, yo. Sweet moves.
[it's only a little bit awkward.]
no subject
Sort of.
He knew she'd been hanging around the park for a while, at least. A fellow regular, even if she didn't seem to actually be doing much in the way of exercising here, not that it really mattered to him. What did matter was that she'd left him alone—nothing like the fans or reporters he was used to having hang around at home.
So when she finally does dare to speak to him, he doesn't mind stepping away from the rails he'd just finished riding on, giving her a smile of his own that's only a little less awkward.]
Thanks. This isn't really the kind of skating I'm used to, but I think I'm starting to get the hang of it.
no subject
Oh, are you that Yuri Plisetsky dude? From the paper a few weeks ago? Rad.
[other than that, though she doesn't seem to be making a big deal of it. she pronounces his name correctly without a second thought, though she has an american accent.]
