[OPEN]
WHO: Yurio and YOU
WHERE: Heropa, various locations in the city
WHEN: Throughout April
WHAT: Open log/catch-all
WARNINGS:None forseen adults intimidating teenagers with soul monsters
A - Out and About
[After a suspicious absence during the latter half of March, Yuri has finally returned to the public eye. He can be found spending a lot of time at the larger public parks that Heropa has to offer, frequently jogging the walking trails that wind through it or taking a break to lounge in a sunny patch of grass by the lake shore.
And, while Viktor has banned him from any truly strenuous exercise, it hasn't been enough to stop him from making use of the skate park located on the larger park's grounds. He looks positively delighted racing along railings and swooping through halfpipes or testing how much height he can get off the ramps that dot the area. There are a few falls here and there, but there are falls in figure skating too. Nothing that he doesn't pop right back to his feet from.
And finally, he always ends his days spent around the park with a trip to a nearby ice cream and smoothie parlor, offering treats ranging from painfully healthy blended fruit and veggie options, sweeter fruit and yogurt mixes, and positively decadent milkshakes. It's a perfect end to long days spent outside.]
B - Back to Basics
[The bulk of Yuri's time is spent at the local ice rink. He's been prohibited from any intensive training following his fall into the pit in De Chima, but he's free to practice step sequences and some of the most basic jumps—nothing that will strain his knee. It looks like mindless repetition most of the time, but occasionally he'll work on stringing all the different segments together into a very simplified version of a short program. There's a grace to these moments in practice, a precise sort of fluidity that can draw a viewer in regardless of his power—until he stumbles over some step or another and has to begin again.]
C - Cooking with Cat
[On weekends, Yuri pays a visit to the local community center to take part in the cooking classes offered. Join him and learn how to fry fish, bake a peach cobbler, make a shellfish fritter, or make a savory slaw to pair with it all!]
D - Do whatever
[Have another idea? Feel 100% free to make your own starter! Hit me up at
jiora with any questions or ideas you want to chat about.]

You really don't need to mention yourself twice, kid~
[ He turned his focus to his skates then, pulling them on and lacing them up, and for all intents and purposes, completely ignoring Yurio. Normally he'd just leave, but for this kid? Nah; he could deal with his presence. ]
no subject
You're the only rat here. Stay on your end of the rink or I'll show you just how sharp my blades are.
no subject
What~? Now why would I do that, when even I can skate circles around you now, little rat~?
no subject
First, what kind of sad excuse for trash gloats because he thinks he can outskate a kid who just recovered from a broken knee?
Second, you realize I've been on the ice for a decade, right? And that I'm only holding back because Viktor asked? I've only been off the ice for a couple of weeks. There's no way in this world or any other that you could skate even a quarter of a circle around me.
no subject
The kind that doesn't mind taking easy pot shots at a little brat that doesn't know how to respect other people's property~
[ His tone dropped, a dark look coming to his face. ]
I think you know very well what it's like to kick a person where it hurts, don't you?
[ ...did his eyes change color for a moment? Must have been a trick of the light. ]
no subject
So you're bragging about going after easy targets? [His tone shifts to one heavy with disdain.] Way to prove me right, rat.
I know how to read an opponent. Any good athlete does.
no subject
[ Adachi let out an amused noise, but he wasn't backing off yet. ]
And what read are you really getting on me, brat? Or are you so stuck on yourself that you see only what you want to see?
no subject
[Honestly, Yuri wasn't sure how to characterize the read he was getting off Adachi right now. There was something unsettling about it, something a little like the aggressively competitive edge he loved to pull out of Viktor or Yuuri, but off somehow. He couldn't decide if he liked it or not yet.]
no subject
[ Adachi backed off a little, that smirk turning mild, almost friendly at the drop of a hat. ]
So explain it to me.

[ He raised a hand, tapping a finger against the side of his head. ]
It's not just about hunting for clues, you know. I gotta be able to interrogate suspects too, 'ya know.
no subject
I have to actually answer your questions for an interrogation to work.
no subject
You know, I could always make you. You really shouldn't underestimate the Japanese police.
no subject
His eyes flicker towards the duffel bag he left at the side of the rink.]
Are you for real?
no subject
Hey, all I want is an apology. You know, like the apology you kept trying to force me to make outside of my comfort zone?
no subject
You said you wanted to apologize, but you were too hung up on your own comfort to have any thought for Katsudon. I don't give a shit about you in the first place. You're an asshole, and even if you make me say it it's not going to mean a thing.
no subject
[ Adachi narrowed his eyes. What a little punk; he was too young to think he could so easily figure adults out like this. ]
And did it not once occur to you that just suddenly popping up out of the blue in front of a guy like Katsuki would have been just as damaging as not saying anything at all?
[ It was pretty clear by now how easy it was to get Katsuki emotional, either in a good way or a bad way. Considering the negativity between them, just about any interaction was going to be "bad" for quite awhile, even after apologizing. ]
If you're gonna claim you can size up your opponents so easily, then at least try to look at it from all angles. Don't be such a damn amateur.
no subject
Obviously I didn't, because only an absolute idiot would think Katsudon's such a fragile guy! You know even less about him than you do about me, you shitty rat!
no subject
[ And he wanted to get to know him better too, which was the annoying thing. He wanted to know this person that lit up Viktor's life and filled it up, and how he managed to do so, when Viktor compared the two of them all the time. ]
But hey, believe whatever you want. You're wrong as usual, but g'head and believe it.
no subject
Say one more word about Katsudon. [Yuri doesn't say it aloud, but the threat of "and see what happens" hangs heavy in the air between them.]
How many times have you even talked to the guy? Once? Twice? For, what, a couple of minutes? I don't know what fantasy world you live in for that to make you some kind of expert, but you need to wake the fuck up from it. It's no wonder he can't stand you.
no subject
Or you'll do what, brat?
[ The gaki that escaped from his mouth had more venom in it than he intended, and he paused awkwardly for a moment. No, back off; his attitude was more for show than anything else. ]
[ He shrugged casually as he pulled himself away. ]
Ehhh... gee, it's almost like I don't have all the facts, and I'm making assumptions based on incomplete information because I'm scared of finding something I won't like. I wonder who that sounds like~?
no subject
He lashes out lightning fast to grab Adachi's collar, yanking hard to force him back down to Yuri's level, and if it happens to send him off balance and toppling to the ice? Even better. A fall from a stationary stand won't hurt anything but the man's pride.
His voice, when he speaks, has lost all the white hot rage and fury of a moment ago. This tone is made of pure ice, cold and cutting to match the cool look of irritated superiority and disgust Yuri's looking at him with now, like he's looking at an especially irritating bug.]
Don't you ever compare yourself to me again. We're nothing alike. And if you ever threaten me on my own ice again, I'll make sure Viktor is the very first person to hear about it. Do you understand, old rat?
no subject
[ ...before there was a flash of blue, the sound of glass breaking coming with it. Something grabbed Yurio by the scruff of his neck, lifting him up like a mama cat disciplining a stubborn kitten. He wasn't lifted up far, but just enough so that he could still hold on to Adachi while the taller man stood up straight. ]
[ If he looked back, he would get to see what grabbed him: a tall -- taller than even Viktor -- samurai-like guy, bedecked in a red and black trench. Yellow eyes from behind a red mask stared out at Yurio, and the figure raised a hand, shaking a finger back and forth, like it was the last reprimand before a harassed owner broke out the spray bottle. The figure was certainly menacing, there was no doubt about that, but it wasn't threatening, if for any reason that it was being utterly ridiculous when it came to handling him. ]
Geeze, and here I was hoping to introduce you to Magatsu Izanagi a cooler way than this.
[ He was such an asshole sometimes. ]
no subject
Unfortunately, this wasn't any other situation. He was alone on the ice—above it now—with someone he didn't trust, who he'd felt threatened by just minutes ago. Had he misread him? Was this all more than just empty posturing for intimidation?
Fuck.
Fuck fuck fuck fuck.
What had that guy said? Pretend you aren't scared? Something like that...
He manages to keep his voice even and calm, but there's on ominous echo to it. Pretending isn't enough to keep his fear from triggering the power in his voice, just enough to set a creeping unease in the air.]
Put me down.
no subject
Hey, leave the fear inducing spells to the professionals, will you?
[ Finally, Adachi's expression softened to something more real; a gentle look of understanding that came with experience, and when he spoke again, his voice took on a tone to match. ]
Look, I get it. You're a kid taken away from everything you know, and shoved into a world similar to home, but different enough to be jarring. I get it; and I don't need to tell you you're not the only one. You're smart enough to know that.
[ Adachi let out a breath, shifting his stance so he could rest his hands on his hips. He wanted to be mad at the brat; that's why he threw away sense and started picking a fight in the first place. But he couldn't find it in him to keep it going. ]
You're scared, and something comes along and makes you even more scared, so you do what you can to protect what you hold close to you.
