It starts off on March 4th, the early morning before the sun's even risen. You know those weird mirages that were hanging around the day before? Well now it's getting a little personal.

These mirages come and go seemingly for no reason. They might stay for a minute, they might stay for an hour. The images vary between person but the unifying factor is that the mirages consist of people the player characters have hurt, whether people in-game or from their homes. Whether they murdered them, slandered them, or even had a petty little argument, the unifying factor is the guilt each character feels towards or about this mirage. After all, you know you hurt them somehow. You know their existence somehow makes you feel guilty.

Another unifying factor? The creepy way these mirages just seem to stick to you. They'll follow you if you try to leave, staring you down with their creepy unblinking mirage eyes. And whoops: everybody can see said mirages. Hopefully you're not being stalked by someone you and somebody else both know, wouldn't that be awkward?

[ Viktor doesn't mind if he looks, it's not like there's anything to hide. Most of it seems ice skating-related, though there's a few mundane things like "pick up pet food" and such. ]

That means you'll help plan it out, right?

[ He really should have seen that one coming. His hands shot up, waving them back and forth. ]

N-no way! I wouldn't know the first thing anout that kind of thing. The best I could do was investigate your sponsers and make sure they're legit.

[ Viktor's face just LIGHTS UP. ]

Really? You'd do that for us?

[ ...crap. Adachi let out a breath, letting his arms drop. ]

Well yeah; it's what I do. I don't mind; you guys just got here, so you don't know what to look out for.

That'd be a big help! Can I send you my list of potential sponsors? I've yet to meet with about half of them, but if I can weed it down from the start the better.

[ Adachi couldn't help the gentle smile that came to his face. Geeze, Viktor was so easily excited over little things. It was... weirdly adorable. Geeze, he really made him think some crazy things. ]

Sure; just text it to me when you get the chance. I'll clear time in my case load for it.

Oh, then I'll just send those over right now since it's on my phone ...

[ A few taps and then Adachi's phone dings!

... The list looks like it's over at least 50 businesses. It's a mixed bag of imPort and native businesses, most of them high-end; Viktor's going for the big sponsorships here. ]

[ Adachi let out a low whistle as he read over the list. ]

Man, you are ambitious. Though I guess I shouldn't be surprised.

[ He let out a faint noise, pocketing his phone. ]

I'll get started tonight.

Haha, I have to be to cover the cost of everything. It's not cheap to be an international competitor, you know, and I need to support three here.

[ He finally sets his phone down to pick up his chopsticks. ]

But thanks ... I really appreciate it, Tohru.

[ A weird feeling settled in the pit of his stomach at the thanks, and Adachi stared for a long moment, not sure how to respond. It was a moment before he finally forced out a laugh, trying to shove that weird feeling away. ]

D-don't mention it. Just let me know if you decide to run with my idea. I'll at least watch.

Mmm! Will do.

[ He tucks into his katsudon at last, making a sound of pure bliss after the first bite. ]

Oh, you should come watch us practice though. We're in there practically every day.

Ah... sure. When I can.

[ He could see himself getting bored watching a practice really quick, but he could at least stop in for a little bit. That couldn't hurt, right? ]

[ He started in on his katsudon as well, a blissful sigh escaping from him. Almost as good as Dojima's nephew used to make... ]

[ ...dammit, why did his brain have to go there? He blamed Viktor for kind of looking like him. Totally his fault. ]

[ Completely Viktor's fault here since katsudon was his idea anyway. ]

[ Adachi tried and failed to keep back a snort. Viktor was the kind of person who could eat forever and never gain an ounce he bet. His metabolism must have been insane. ]

[ Mama Katsuki; something told Adachi Viktor probably called her that from the start. That kind of familiarity from a foriegner would have had just about anyone in his version of Japan either pissed off or trying to back away as quickly as possible. ]

Must be nice to live in a world where social expectations aren't so strict.

[ He didn't even realize he said that out loud until his mouth clicked close. He at least had the decency to look guilty about it. ]

Ah... sorry. Forget I said that. Ah heh heh...

[ Viktor just blinks, looking more confused than offended. ]

Eh? What do you mean?

[ Oh boy; well, if there was ever a time to have this discussion... ]

Well, some things... well, like your and Katsuki-kun's relationship, for example. Not saying it doesn't happen on my world, but most people keep quiet about it. It's... not really acceptable.

... It's not acceptable to have a relationship?

Not like yours between two guys... or two women for that matter. Just between a man and a woman is accepted.

[ Adachi let out a sigh; explaining it out loud really made it sound dumb. Really, who cared? It's not like there was some token flaming homosexual that would shoot rainbows out of their nipples that made people change their preference. ]

[ ...wow his mind went weird places. He had to fight against a smile creeping on his face at the mental image. ]

Japan isn't even the worst country about it; it's outright illegal in some countries.

[ ...actually, wasn't Russia one of them? Yeaaaah... he wasn't telling him that. ]

[ Okay but Adachi hasn't met Christophe Giacometti. And Viktor would totally wear a costume like that on the ice, just saying.

The confused expression doesn't leave Viktor's face as he still takes bites of his katsudon. ]

You started to explain it before during your birthday, but it still sounds weird ... How can it be illegal to love someone?

[ Oh god Viktor do you want half the world to die from blood loss? ]

[ Adachi made a face, before he finally let out a sigh, his shoulders drooping. ]

I... don't know. Between what you and Bull have said, plus saying it out loud, it does kind of sound dumb.

[ Maybe if the both of them weren't such decent guys he could stubbornly refuse to budge on that mindset, but he couldn't; especially being right in front of Viktor and that stupidly innocent look on his face. ]

I think... some people take the fact that a fulfilling family must include actual procreating too far? That's... the only reason that would make sense, outside of just pure hatred.

Well that's a silly reason. If it's about having children, that's what adoption is for. And what about those men and women couples who can't have kids for whatever reason? Are they not considered acceptable either?

No, I... think they're fine...

[ ...yeah, it really is just about bigotry and hatred, wasn't it? Adachi let out a faint breath, poking at his katsudon with his chopsticks. ]

[ He hated apologizing; it was more of an ego stroke for the person saying it than the person receiving it. But at the moment he couldn't think of any other way to make up for being a jerk about it. ]

If it's any consolation, I didn't like my world, even though I guess I still brought it's expectations with me.

[ Viktor waves his hand, the one still holding the chopsticks (Viktor, that's rude). ]

It's alright. Yuuri and I weren't exactly offended by it; we just didn't understand why you were acting weird about it. It's what you knew and were raised with, right?

But now you know differently and can expect different things.
