It starts off on March 4th, the early morning before the sun's even risen. You know those weird mirages that were hanging around the day before? Well now it's getting a little personal.

These mirages come and go seemingly for no reason. They might stay for a minute, they might stay for an hour. The images vary between person but the unifying factor is that the mirages consist of people the player characters have hurt, whether people in-game or from their homes. Whether they murdered them, slandered them, or even had a petty little argument, the unifying factor is the guilt each character feels towards or about this mirage. After all, you know you hurt them somehow. You know their existence somehow makes you feel guilty.

Another unifying factor? The creepy way these mirages just seem to stick to you. They'll follow you if you try to leave, staring you down with their creepy unblinking mirage eyes. And whoops: everybody can see said mirages. Hopefully you're not being stalked by someone you and somebody else both know, wouldn't that be awkward?

N-nothing!

[ The thought of being out there, exposed, on a beach, with so many other people out there... all of his insecurities hit him in the gut at once, drawing a grimmace out of him as it let out a reprimanding noise at him. ]

[ ...this was seriously embarrassing. He never had exposed one person to so many of his issues at the same time. ]

[ Viktor just continues to look confused as something is still clearly bothering Adachi despite his protest otherwise. ]

[ Adachi let out a disgruntled noise as his body sagged. Geeze, he didn't know who was worse: Viktor or the brat. It must be a grey haired thing. ]

Don't know know you're supposed to get to know someone first before you drag their sob story out of them?

[ You're bad at Social Links, Viktor. ]

Ah, is that like don't kiss on the first date?

[ Adachi's expression fell at that one. ]

Something tells me you've broken that rule too...

Only because they wanted to break it.

[ Viktor's smile is as bright as always, but it somehow lacks ... depth to it? Like it's a smile meant for the paparazzi. ]

[sleight_of_hand]

[ Adachi raised an eyebrow at that. It wasn't that hard to miss the sudden change in his smile. Was he really that offended that he wouldn't tell him more about himself? ]

Now who's hiding stuff; what's that expression for?

[ He blinks. ]

Eh? Hiding what?

[ Adachi's chopsticks were pointed at Viktor again. ]

You can't flash me a showman's smile and not expect me to call you out on it.

[ Another blink of surprise (and excuse you, weren't you thinking that was rude when Viktor did it). ]

Ah, you can tell the difference?

[sleight_of_hand]

[ It's especially rude when Viktor does it! Adachi pouted; like seriously, was he trying to test him? ]

I told you I'm a detective!

Ah, that's right, that's right. Most people just don't usually see the difference unless they know me pretty well.

[sleight_of_hand]

[ Adachi couldn't help but have a brief, smug look on his face. ]

If I wasn't good at picking up the differences in people's reactions, I wouldn't be a very good detective.

[ He just wasn't very good for different reasons. ]

So? What's up?

Ah, it's nothing really. My love life was just a rather popular subject back home. Dates and kisses were usually caught on film or camera anyway.

[sleight_of_hand]

Ohhhh...

[ Hunh... so basically the whole world got to know about everything he did. That kind of sucked; he bet people lost their minds when he settled with Yuuri. ]

[ He paused a moment, before letting out a sigh. He guessed since he got something from Viktor, it was fair to return the favor? ]

...I'm not good with people... but I guess that's obvious. I haven't even really dated anyone.

[fourlevels]

[ Viktor's expression softens again whn he realizes what Adachi is offering in turn. ]

Ah, maybe it's because of how harsh your world seemed to be?

[sleight_of_hand]

Not... really.

[ Ugh, here comes more embarrassing backstory time. He stuffed some rice in his face first. ]

I... didn't really learn, not until recently, and it's a struggle trying to keep up with other people.

[fourlevels]

Hmm ... sounds a bit like Yuuri, really.

Maybe you can talk to him about it.

[sleight_of_hand]

Maybe.

[ He doubted it was the same, though. Yuuri very clearly had a support structure, had a talent. Adachi didn't even have that, but he wasn't going to get into it. At this point it would probably just sound like whining anyway. ]

[fourlevels]

[ Viktor leans in after a few beats of silent after that non-committal "maybe", leaning into Adachi's space across the table. He angles his head so he can look up into Adachi's face even with his head bowed. ]

You really should. You might be able to relate to each other.

[sleight_of_hand]

[ Viktor, are you aware of the definition of personal space? How about public menace? As soon as he realized the other man was in his bubble, he let out a faint noise, jumping back in his seat. ]

O-okay, okay! I will!

[ Sheesh, Viktor. He went to stuff his mouth with more food, only to realize he had finished. Oh. Well then. ]

...thanks for suggesting this place. [ A pause. ] I'll get the bill.

[fourlevels]

[ He leans back with a soft laugh. ]

Ah, thank you~ I'd offer to cover it myself, but my budget isn't what I'm used to here.

[sleight_of_hand]

Yeah, I figured. That'll probably change when things get off the ground though.

[ He handled paying for the meal as soon as the waitress came around again, leaving the a generous tip behind as well. ]

I certainly hope so, and that we get some sponsors soon.

Don't worry; I'll work on that list for you.

[ He could already tell a few were out. Association with Stark would look bad after the bullshit he pulled, and a couple he remembered Dooku mentioned. Maybe it was just because of that last strangling he endured, but he really wanted to keep these guys as far away from him as possible. ]

I'll make it my primary case.
