So what's with the outing today? Need anything?

[amadaman]

You'll see soon. We're almost just around the corner... actually, can you lean over, and put this on?

[Ken pulls out a bandanna now, folded, and makes a gesture to move it around his eyes to show that that's how he wants Kaneda to wear it too.]

[rassera]

[Ken's request catches him by surprise, looking at the bandanna and then to Ken.]



Am I coming back.

[amadaman]

[Ken looks Kaneda right in the eyes and says very seriously,]

I won't do anything to put you in harm's way.

[rassera]

[With Ken's affirmation, he slowly kneels down to Ken's height.]


Alright, I'm trusting you.

[amadaman]

[That trust warms Ken's heart. He blushes for an instance, then nods and slowly wraps the fabric around Kaneda's head, tying it securely but gently. When he's done, he takes Kaneda's hands and turns around, placing them on his shoulders.]

I'll guide.

[rassera]

[That gets a laugh out of Kaneda, gripping those shoulders securely but lovingly. He wasn't just playing--he truly does trust Ken to lead him there.]

Alright, you're my eyes.

But can't you give me a clue? [Someone's impatient.]

[amadaman]

[Ken keeps his hands over Kaneda's as they start walking. He's been with the guy long enough to pace himself easily; he matches Kaneda's usual pace, never too fast or too slow, as he responds.]

Keep your ears open, and you might figure it out.

[As it is, when they arrive the automatic doors slide open, inviting them in with a blast of chilled air, and with it comes the noise. Music, some man making fast-paced commentary, and mixed in to the din are the pew pews, the psshhhts, and with it all, the sound of kids going "whoa!" "cool!" and "look at this!"

Ken leads Kaneda past it all, then stops, letting go of one of his hands for just a moment before he slips away completely. Not for long, though; it's immediately after that that Ken grabs Kaneda's hands again and places a box in it. It's cardboard, but one of those glossy ones, undamaged and also weighty.]

[rassera]

[The automatic sliding doors are a clue, at least. And the rush of the AC running and background music at least narrow it down to 'store' or 'shop'. What kind, though? That's a whole different story. It's not like he knew what half the stuff this place had was to start with.


He'd have to listen to figure it out further. The commentary and laser blasts suddenly sound off, and Kaneda's ears proverbially perk up at the sound--all too familiar and yet no closer to figuring out where he is.

The arcade maybe? Nah, it was too quiet. Even with the noise, it wasn't the white blur of it that came with the arcade. Vanessa would be here too, if that were true. They didn't walk through any porters, or go far enough for a rival arcade.

It's not until he's led further into the store that he feels Ken let go, freezing on the spot and waiting for his little charge to come back to him.


And when that box is placed in his hands, it's safe to say this exceeds anything and everything he expected. He truly has no idea what this boy is up to.]


Hmm? What do we have heeeeere?

[amadaman]

[Ken's hands linger once the box is given. He makes sure Kaneda's grip on it is secure and that Kaneda knows that he's still here, but he's smiling at the other's confusion, excitement for him to finally find out what this is bubbling in his tummy.]

Three guesses, and you can ask yes or no questions. If you don't get it right, you can still open it.

[rassera]

Yes or no answers, huh?

Is it...square?

[A wide smile spreads across his face, now just being a shit for the heck of it.]

[amadaman]

Nope.

[It's a rectangle, sucker. Too bad Kaneda is blindfolded and can't see the shiteating grin on Ken's face.]

[rassera]

[The face Kaneda makes (or his mouth) is priceless, pulling up into a pout as he starts to feel the sides of the box.]

this kid is fucking with me...

It's got four sides!

[amadaman]

But it's only a square when all four sides are the same length.

[rassera]

[That was a blind swipe to try and thwap Ken's head, but seeing as he's blind via blindfold (amazing how that word just fits in there, his hand smacks into one of those spinning stands, completely taking him by surprise as he yelps and jumps back.

...

He meant to do that.]

[amadaman]

Don't try to hit things when you're blindfolded! Are you stupid???

[rassera]

I wasn't trying to hit things!

Fine. It's four sided and...a box. With something heavy in it.


Not a brick...so that's something.

Yeah. That's correct. You don't have to guess from just the box, either.
