Late April Catch-All

A. It had been a month since he'd arrived here. Again.

Danny figured it was about time he got out of Nonah and got to know some of the other cities. And how better to do it than from the air?

In one city after another he takes his time flying at the level of the rooftops, mapping out the streets and keeping an eye our for anything interesting. 

B. Danny was in no hurry to get anywhere. He takes his time exploring as a ghost, occasionally even flying low enough to be easily spotted by people on the street. 

If he was really lucky, he'd survive the entire trip without getting on the wrong side of any ghost hunters. And if not?  Well is someone started shooting at him at least he'd know they were there.

C. Occasionally he changes back into a human to explore the cities in a more traditional way. On foot. He can sometimes be caught hanging out in parks or getting lunch at local fast food places.

"Probably. I think it was written in an Interpol report, if I remember correctly." KID said with a shrug. He had always wondered about the handwriting that made 1412 look like K-I-D.

"Wait, you have reports at Interpol?"

[tuxedo_magician]

"Yes. I am a world renowned Phantom Thief, after all." Okay, really, that was more his Dad, but a Phantom Thief was ageless, after all. And hey, Snake still thought he was his dad.

Geez, I didn't even get on that list when I was public ghost enemy #1. Or when I had a million dollar bounty on my head.

[Yes, he'd still been a hero back then. Danny had had some very interesting public relations problems back home. ]

Okay, score one for you, Danny, because you just impressed Kaitou KID. "How did you end up with a million dollar bounty on your head?"

My arch-enemy is a billionaire. Guess he figured dealing with all the moron ghost-hunters who showed for the bounty would distract me.

[tuxedo_magician]

"Huh." KID said, impressed. "And I though the old man was bad with the deliberate baiting to get me to steal whatever his newest acquisition was with full page ads in the newspaper."

"Is he trying to adopt you as a son/evil apprentice?"

[tuxedo_magician]

"As much as his niece might like that, I think he just wants to be known as the one to finally catch Kaitou KID."

[schrodingersghost]

"Ah. One of those."

Oh the pain of being popular.

[tuxedo_magician]

"Exactly. I swear, most of the time he just buys something shiny and expensive because he just knows that I'd want to target it." KID gives a long suffering sigh. "And if I don't, it's front page news coverage as he issues his latest challenge."

"So... is this guy some kind of rival?"

[tuxedo_magician]

"He probably fancies himself as one. But I consider my rivals the detectives that like to attend my heists in the misguided hope that they'll catch me."

[schrodingersghost]

"Wait, do you actually encourage them to come after you?"

[tuxedo_magician]

"I do. There's no challenge if I don't, after all." KID shrugs with a shoulder. "And it would be boring without any sort of challenge. I adore Nakamori-keibu and the taskforce, don't get me wrong, but without the detectives, it's not the same."

"No offense, but that's kind of weird."

[tuxedo_magician]

"There's no greatest stage then the world." KID said, theatrically. "And no greater challenge then those who can keep up with me."

"....Right," Danny said. "Well considering all of my self proclaimed rivals want to perform lots and lots of painful experiments on me, put my pelt on their wall, or tear me apart molecule by molecule and experiment on the remains? I think I'd be pretty happy if they decided to start ignoring me."

[tuxedo_magician]

"Dare I ask why?" Because that sounds like there's a story there and KID can't help but be curious.

[schrodingersghost]

"I'm a ghost, they're ghost hunters. That's always been reason enough." A beat.

"Okay, so the guy who wants my pelt is actually a ghost. He just likes to think he's the ghost zone's greatest hunter. And apparently I make a good challenge."

"That sounds like Tantei-kun, only I can't really see him wanting to skin me. He takes murder very seriously after all."
