[Although he did get so caught up in his phototaking that he almost forgot. It shows in the embarrassed way he settles back down in his seat and pulls the cup toward himself, picking it up and checking to see it isn't too hot...]

he does, however, wait for ken to try the coffee and let him know if it's good. because no matter how good he is at making coffee, he will always wait to hear other people's opinions ]

But, to his immense surprise, the stuff is delicious once he gets a taste of it. He's never had that experience before; it's sweet! He takes that first sip then pulls back to stare at it in surprise, then with a new sparkle in his eyes, goes in for a second sip.]

As he sees Ken going in for a second sip, he nods softly as if his work is done. Because it is, that was the whole point: to make something the other would appreciate ]

[Well, no. He can figure out what Kaneki must've done. It really is silly for a kid his age to insist on drinking coffee black, isn't it? It'd been a complex for him for so long.]
I never even tried to add sugar, or cream.

[ he went ahead and gave Ken something soft and sweet because kids prefer sweet things. But hey - he will fulfill Ken's request if he insists only on black coffee, obviously. ]

I really like this one. With it sweet. I never actually liked bitter coffee.

But I know a lot of people don't like coffee because it's so bitter and strong - most of us just grow to like it. [ or it's the only thing you can taste besides human flesh, so you get addicted to it from the get go ]

I couldn't remember how my mom used to have it. But someone from school said once that adults only drank their coffee straight. And I didn't want my teammates looking down on me because I was a kid.

I don't think anyone will look down ion you based on your coffee taste though, so don't worry.

Well, but that means you don't have to drink black coffee anymore, right? [ because now they know each other ]
before, [ before being turned into a ghoul he means ] I found it too bitter. In fact, I didn't even like it that much, and usually added milk to mine. It was easier on my stomach, too. [ so he thinks it'd probably be easier on ken's stomach as well ]

[Ken takes another sip, then stares down at the milky coffee. This is better on his stomach?]
Maybe you have to take them together... I drink a lot of milk, too, but sometimes it gives me a stomachache.
