[He laughs at her swatting, affectionately.]

Wouldn't doubt it. Probably turns people to stone just by looking at em.

[But that hand takes hers, catching it mid swing as she asks that questionn.]

Of course I know about it--I've been texting you about em for weeks! [And hell, it was a core part of bosozoku. HE knew about the samurai ordeals that he kept. His moral code was as rock solid as they were. But that didn't mean everyone knew about it.]

You just keep calling me soft...makes a guy like me worry for the day I'm not.

[She sighs gently, letting her hand rest in his, and shakes her head.]

People I care about are gonna do stuff I don't like, like, all the time. But that doesn't mean everything else you do isn't great, okay? Does that make sense?

[She's being direct because, well... she thinks he needs to hear it, at this point.]

It doesn't mean you don't take care of people.

[He sinks back, letting Maya's words flow through his mind. It did make sense, although he's still not sure how--or why Maya thinks that about him. Maybe that was his problem. Maybe he was trying too hard to show her that he really wasn't as good as he seemed...when she'd already accepted that.

She'd already known, hadn't she.


And here she was, calling him soft and a good person.]

[The colour returns to his face as he lets go of that hand, leaning back against the backboard of the bed for a moment, the smile starting to creep back onto his face as his hands move behind his head, elbows jutting out.]

The way of the Samurai calls for benevolence!, huh.

[That's his way of accepting it, then.


If Maya...Ken...even Cass thought he was soft, even after what he throws up as a disclaimer?

How bad could he really be?]

[It's when Kaneda relaxes that Maya finally starts to smile again, leaning on her palms.]

And now you know for sure-- I'm always right. Don't forget it next time, Kaneda.

[Seems she's not quite as clueless as she pretends to be. She hopes he'll at least remember that.]

[He points to the udon bowl.]

[She FORGOT ABOUT THAT FOR A SECOND hold on she is gonna pick that bowl up and slurp down the last of those noodles before they get cold or soggy. This does not prevent her from talking.]

That doesn't count! I meant when you've been right and I've been wrong!

[His expression lightens when she scrambles back for it, a hand casting over his face to cover his nose and eyes, peeking out between the fingers.]

You didn't say that!

[But fine. He'll play your game.]

Hover vespas. Not as good as ones with wheels.

Okay, that doesn't count either.

[Once she's done with that bowl, she puts it back on the floor, shoving it slightly under the bed as to avoid either of them accidentally tripping on it. Then she turns to face him again, eyes bright, hair bouncing on her shoulders.]

Of course you're gonna be right about motorcycles and vespas and stuff! That's totally out of my league, it's a technicality.

[rassera]

[Kaneda practically erupts in laughter.]

It counts!

[He’s got to take his victories where he can, after all. They’re few and far in between. His legs shift, now crosslegged to match hers as she leans in, flashing that knowing smile that screams “I win.”]

Sounds like someone just can’t admit I was right~

It soooo doesn't count.

When have you ever known me to be a sore loser, huh?

[He leans forward more, teasingly.]

It counts!

I have no idea what you're talking about. Because I don't lose.

[And yet, she's trying very hard not to giggle, though a few get through. She leans forward too, playfully staring him down. BRING IT PUNK]

[rassera]

[And he leans closer, eyes locked on hers. It's a challenge now, and he's not going to lose THIS one. But his chest shakes with laughter, hands reaching up to grab her wrists playfully.]

Not from where I'm looking...~

You must be looking from the wrong place!

[She laughs just a little, bracing her wrists against him now that he's taken them, and leans just as much closer to him. She has a smirk on her face like she's got plans.]

[rassera]

Yeah? Why don't you tell me where I should be looking then? Because all I see is a sooooreee loser~

[He supports her as she leans in, those hands holding firm as he leans just a tiny bit closer, their faces merely inches apart now.]

[Perfect. He's fallen for it.

Predictably, Maya leans those last few inches in, and quickly, too, but not to kiss him.

Rather, like a true adult, she sticks her tongue out right before her lips hit his nose, intending to gross him out.]

[He was so ready for the kiss. Hell, he was already starting to tilt his head.

And it doesn't come, and he's met with a magnified view of Maya's tongue, eyes blinking wide and doe-like, obviously trying to decipher what the hell just happened.

His brain works like a GPS, rerouting to try and get on the right path. Please hold.]

[Rerouted.

Kaneda laughs, leaning in further to push her back gently, hardly even using any real force to do so. Despite his tendency to get carried away with roughhousing, you certainly couldn't tell here, the way he playfully 'fights' those wrists and 'wrestles' her.]

You think I'm gonna let you get away with that???

[It's hard to spit that out, though. He's laughing too hard.]

[Maya leans away, giggling, and pushes her wrists back against his hands to fight back. She uses a bit more force than he might be expecting, though she isn't used to rough housing at all. but with him there, there's no worries of things getting out of hand. She trusts him not to hurt her-- and not to let her accidentally hurt him. She'd had to kearn that kind of trust to train with Tex, and Kaneda had quickly earned the sams type of trust in his gentler handling of her.]

Aaaaabsolutely! Cos I'm winning!

[She's got a bright, determined grin on, though her shoulders still shake with held-back hiccups of laughter.]

Doesn't look like it!!

[Her pushes are nothing he can't take, his hands meeting her little slaps and hand waving as he keeps trying to grab her wrists. Not go any further than that, of course.]

Wonder if YOU'RE ticklish...
