[It's not that common to see Tetsuo in the living room, but he's been making a few forays down lately. In this case, it's to test out something new Hazel stashed in his room when he was away, in a rare moment of quiet in the living room.

Pretty soon, everyone'll descend, and he'll have to shut off and leave or have to endure the never ending swarm of people. Even with the vague explanation he's gotten on why they're there, every day he still wants to ask the question. It's funny, really; he wouldn't even want to be out here until the option seemed taken away.

He picks up his mug nested in a blanket between his folded legs on a loading screen, swirling it idly before taking a drink. It's not his favorite tea, but it's warm, and the downstairs is definitely colder than upstairs is.

He'd better enjoy all of this while it lasts. At any time, this moment will be over; he's not going to be able to fully relax.]

BELATEDLY

[Despite coming by the house rather frequently, Ken's presence in the house is still small and quiet. He's like the roomba they used to have; he walks through a room and weaves through what's already there, but he barely makes any noise, and he doesn't linger. He only sometimes walks into an unexpected object or person. Nothing more.

Tetsuo is, more often than not, one of such unexpected objects, and he's just one of those people who don't like roombas. Except unlike roombas, Ken realizes when he's in the presence of such people. Never on time, though. While Tetsuo is sitting down loading his game, the front door opens and it's Ken who appears, eyes cast down and apparently lost in thought as he crosses into the living room.]

[At the creak of the front door, Tetsuo freezes, eyes locked onto the entranceway. The mug pauses, halfway raised to his lips.

That relaxation moment is instantly gone.

He does nothing. There's no movement, no greeting, nothing at all to hail or hinder the kid. Ken may not notice him at all, and that's fine. But Tetsuo definitely notices him, even ignoring the game once the level's loaded, only letting himself down more tea if he's caught watching. Any excuse to give him something else to pretend he was busy doing.]

[In the moment, it'll be easier on them both for Ken not to notice. If they could steer clear of each other, not have run-ins, there would be no friction. Easier, even if it led to stagnation beyond fixing.

But fate seems to have other ideas. The window is opened up, and a breeze is let in, forcing them to turn their attention to what lies beyond their closed-off worlds. To each other. Ken looks up, sensing Tetsuo's presence -- he, too, is another person with relatively strong mental focus thanks to his Persona -- and while he still says nothing, their eyes definitely meet.]
