For a moment, he'd almost forgotten just how at this guy's mercy he could be. Stupidly he'd gotten absorbed in the conversation, and almost, for a bit, felt more normal than he had since the bike crash. It's only when he can't find enough bravery to challenge him that he remembers why, and his face darkens back again.

He doesn't say anything. But for that moment, it was written on his face; : 'prove it.'

Tetsuo was always a shit liar and a poor actor.]

[And Bull keeps his attention on the TV. Deliberately. Not offering Tetsuo so much as a glance. Because that might be a challenge. Challenging the kid isn't something he wants to do right now.]

[This isn't supposed to be abut that. It's supposed to be about showing calm, relaxed ease. Not anger.]

[Japan in this world would be easier to visit - a passport (why the hell?!), a lot of money, a ticket... and that's it. But Tetsuo's not thinking of the Japan of this world. He's only gotten occasional glimpses and hints it may be better off.

It had internet. You could buy fish, albeit in America - was that normal for America? It had better tech than it ever would. And Qubit once said something about going there...

But he still remembers the infinite checkpoints between districts. The sanctions. The metaphorical wall between one city erected in the bay around a ruined island, and the world that destroyed it. And he slumps down further in his seat, both angry that he almost doesn't miss it, and incredibly homesick.]

Not Japan. No one visits there.

[He nods at the TV. Apparently, instead of the cooking channel, they landed on the International Channel. Because it's some Japanese News show.]

[At least it's not a Japanese game show, but still.]

It's not your world here kid. Not mine either. Otherwise planes wouldn't exist.

[...Tetsuo doesn't say anything. The news flickers, talking about a catastrophic car pileup, then some business merger of two companies he doesn't recognize. His body language remains slumped down, but his eyes glitter with sudden sharp interest. Taking all this in.

That area they're sweeping over with aerial cameras doesn't exist anymore. None of this would be news-worthy where he's from. There's no mention of terrorists, no mention of escalating internal conflict. No list of checkpoints that went black as a frequent counter.]

... You know. We can probably figure out a way to get you there. If you want.

[Because he sees that interest. The way the kid doesn't look away. How intent he is on the videos. Granted, he still looks sullen and cranky as ever. But there's that look.]
