TUESDAYTUESDAYTUESDATUSDATUSDA
Until he hands him a CD.
Komasan wasn't looking for a CD, but he found one, and he wants to make this happen. He's not even sure why, he just feels like it's...right.]
I want to listen to this, zura.
[Make the magic music disc work.]
no subject
[That sure is Maya's youkai dog handing him something.
He crouches down to inspect, taking it between two fingers.]
A CD?
Where'd you find this?
no subject
[One day he'll stop playing in the trash.
One day.]
1/2
There didn't seem to be any major scratches, oddly enough. A few wear-and-tear ones, but it was playable, at least.
Impressive for trash.]
2/2
Oi, c'mon! Let's go see what's on it.
[Up to his room they go!
But not before scooping him up and plopping him on his shoulder.]
no subject
the fuckboyKaneda to do something for him.And then he had to go and ruin it by scooping him up. Like a god damn baby.
Komasan had just gone over with Maya that he was, in fact, an adult just the other night. He didn't need to be plopped on someone's shoulder like some kind of infant. That was the kind of thing he saved for important stuff, like sitting on Komajiro's shoulders to reach a doorbell. IMPORTANT.]
You're not doing this because you think I'm a baby, do you, zura?
no subject
What? It's just faster this way.
[Babies have tiny legs, that's all.]
no subject
...That's an entirely different youkai.]
I can climb up the stairs just as fast, zura...
[He grumbles under his breath.]
no subject
Kaneda places one foot on the bottom step, springing up to where the stairs change direction. That's the easy part--his feet pivot on his heel, changing direction to dash his way up the final, longer set of stairs, getting second from the top before he grabs the guard rail and literally vaulting himself over it, like he was in some goddamn track meet.
Show off.]
That fast?
no subject
M-Monge...
[Who runs in the house, honestly?]
no subject
I'll take that as a no!
[It's okay, Komasan, you can feel impressed when it processes. Right now it's music time, as he opens his door and making his way towards the jukebox Bull had helped him carry upstairs. For as much as he loved it, it was sadly lacking any CDs or music at all, and he'd be lying if he said he wasn't excited to try it out.
With a little tilt of his body, he slides Komasan off onto his bed, making sure he lands with a little harmless bounce before making his way over to the jukebox to put it in.]
no subject
Monge... You've been keeping a robot in your room this whole time, zura?!
[But what does owning a robot have to do with CDs?]
no subject
[His head turns a moment, drawing attention away from the jukebox as he looks around. Was the roomba in here the whole time?]
What robot?
no subject
They don't have those in bumpkin land.]
no subject
Ahhh! Nah, it's not a robot! It's called a jukebox, you put a loooot of these in there, and it'll play all of em for you!
[Cue him opening up the top compartment to stick the CD inside.]
Terette!
no subject
[Apparently "it's not a robot" doesn't translate to this odd machine not being a robot.
Because that robot just totally ate that CD.]
S-So... Is it gonna burp out the songs, zura?!
no subject
Here, I'll show ya!
[In a way, this was just what he needed. He kind of missed the wide-eyed amazement that Tetsuo used to give him back in the day, when he held onto every word he spoke like reading a mystery novel, or when he watched Kaneda's example when they got their first bikes. It's familiar, and that's welcome right now.
Without any hesitation, (even with Komasan's previous grievance about being picked up) Kaneda scoops him into his arms to carry over towards the jukebox, hovering him just in front of the lit-up display. There's no title card anywhere--but you can see the CD in the first row marked 'A'.]
See, we just choose this one--[Choosing 'A' now]--and then... There.
[Inside the display case, the CD is pulled out of row A and placed into the player, and the giant rectangle button in the center starts to blink, ready to be pushed.]
Go on. Push it for me, will ya?
no subject
Monge--
[Wait.
Komasan's amusement dies for a second when he realizes that, yes, Kaneda picked him up again. It wasn't even for something like the stairs, he's just picking him up like some kind of doll and it's annoying. He knows it annoys him, why doesn't he care that it bothers him?! That's...that's rude.
He really didn't want to do this, but sometimes you got to put your foot down. Before Kaneda has time to realize it, he might notice he's no longer holding a dog about the size of a stuffed animal, but hanging onto the waist of someone whose feet touch the ground all on his own because he doesn't need your help he could've got a chair okay. He looks Kaneda dead in the eyes as he presses the button, how's THAT FOR WIDE-EYED AMAZEMENT?]
Thank you very much, zura!
[...I mean, you still gotta be polite to people.]
no subject
...
Heeeee is holding onto a young man's waist right now.]
Komasan??
[Almost rigidly, his arms let go, frozen in place as he backs up. Where did Komasan go? Why was this boy here? What--
Oh, the voice is a dead giveaway. He...actually isn't as surprised as he should be. Teddie did this too, right? Granted Teddie stripped out of his bear-suit and a human popped out, whereas Komasan literally just poofed.
Odd when it's the second one he's less phased by.
He opens his mouth to speak, but the button's pressed, and not a second after, the music starts up, starting softly at first and gradually increasing in volume until it fills the room.
What...is this?]
no subject
[Whatever it is, it's enough to make Komasan forget how pissed off he is because he's pressing his face against the jukebox again. It's...it's really difficult for him to stay mad, especially when there's literal magic happening right next to him.]
It's playing the CD, zura!!
[HOW IS IT DOING THAT? He saw it eat the disc, he saw it inside its strange robot tummy. Music comes from robot tummies?! Is that what he's supposed to get out of this?!]
no subject
It works...!
[Although it's a bit hard to hear, he literally said it the same time Komasan spoke.]
no subject
No one said Komasan had good taste in music.]
I'm gonna feed it more CDs, zura!
[Thanks Kaneda, he really needed another reason to go play in the trash.]
no subject
This is perfect.]
Yeah! Go get some more and we'll put em in, alright?
[Look, the jukebox itself was found in a dump so it's only natural it should have trash CDs.
But for now, he's going to listen to the song. It's...not his usual style, or anything he's ever heard back home, but there's something about it. A fresh, new sound, maybe?
Weird, but not an awful weird.]
