As he's stepping into Nonah 5's doorway again he huffs a little. It's cold. Heropa isn't nearly as humid and awful as Neverland had been, but both of them are closer to the climate he's used to than this. Riku closes the door with a gentle click, lifting his head to scan the entrance. He's got a bag from the noodle place they visited after Kaneda's overpass incident, a couple of covered bowls. Instead of worrying about where Kaneda is right this second, instead he just moves to install himself at the kitchen table. He's hungry, so he's not gonna wait. Kaneda knows he's coming, after all.]

He was home.
But after a few days of recuperation, Kaneda had started looking slightly better in both body and spirit. The frostbite's effects were mostly gone, now just faded red marks on his arms, and the bruising was yellowed and starting to heal. Really, it's the least of his worries right now. He was clean and showered, and actually looked...rested.
So when he walks into the kitchen, there's a happy noise at the noodles being set at the table.
Not even bothering with a 'hi', just sliding into that chair and grabbing those chopsticks.]

You look pretty good for a guy who just kicked the shit out of Peter Pan.
no subject
So when he looks up at that question, he notices Riku's body language, a brow arching in question.]
...
Well! You know me, I don't stay down long, in or out of the ring.
no subject
That's true. Though I'm sure sleeping for a whole 24 hours didn't hurt either, right?
[That's what Riku did, anyway. It was really weird and disorienting.]
no subject
[Kaneda you didn't sleep for that long in school, you dumbass.]
Time passes so slow, you'd think I was there for days.
[He shoves some of those noodles in his mouth, using the chopstick to scoop them in. ...Sorry, Riku, he's like an actual garbage disposal.]
no subject
[He grins anyway, nodding even as he's tilting his head back down to pick up another bunch of noodles himself. And he's not going to say anything about this lovely display of etiquette in front of him -- honestly, he's seen worse.]
Don't think I've ever slept that long ever.
no subject
Who'd even want to BE there that long? That's...torture. Pretty sure of it.
[He smiles, though, looking down at the food and diving those chopsticks back in for round two.]
Won't complain, though. I can't remember the last time I didn't feel tired.
no subject
[He nods, reaching up to shove a bit of hair behind his ear again.]
Really, though. I'm pretty beat after the other day, too. I might have been a little smarter when I signed up for that tournament to begin with. Probably wouldn't have signed up if I'd realized I'd still have Neverland wounds left.
no subject
[That's right, he'd been so busy dealing with Tetsuo that he didn't even hear about that. Huh.]
How'd you do?
no subject
[Not that that's all that impressive, considering there was only one preliminary round.]
My second opponent was Magicman, and the way we determined the winner was 'first contact', since we were using practice swords. I'm not used to being a in fight where I can't afford to take a hit.
He's good. I was impressed.
no subject
'First Contact'? So...
[The gears in his head spin, working that out.]
You only get one shot?
no subject
[Riku looks down, flexes the fingers of his left hand. The scar along his wrist moves with the muscle.]
If I was smart I wouldn't have participated in something like that until after I was a little more healed. Spears are rough.
no subject
..I'd do the same thing.
[Hell, he's half sorry he missed it.]

no subject
[Riku that was two days of recovery time.]
Suuuucks to be you, buddy. And you were thrown on your ass?
no subject
I think we were pretty evenly matched in skill, but anybody can make a stupid mistake. Honestly, the guy I fought before him sticks out more in my memory because he was really... weird.
[He has to be pretty damn weird if Riku's describing him that way.]
no subject
[Kaneda's fought a lot of weirdos himself, but that can range from magic bullshit to...personality bullshit.
There's a lot of bullshit to narrow down.]
no subject
Felt like he was talking down to me the whole time. And we fought for a little while, and maybe twenty minutes in he decided he was done. Talked like it was a test he'd been giving me.
[He let him win. Riku feels like having the win handed to him is different than taking it outright -- he feels kind of like he got ripped off. A lot of the atmosphere of that fight felt to him just -- condescending.]
