[He'd played games with Tetsuo yesterday so now it's time to go see Kaneda. He would have right on the seventh, but he'd ended up crashing hard as soon as he walked into his newly-restored bedroom. Sheets and pillows never felt so good. He was tired enough that he slept completely dreamlessly for what feels like the first time ever. And then the eighth and ninth were active again, Riku having signed up for that tournament -- watching Kanaya take the win was satisfying, at least, since he didn't make it past the semi-finals, and the guy who had beat Riku to get into the finals lost to her. It was like being avenged or something.

As he's stepping into Nonah 5's doorway again he huffs a little. It's cold. Heropa isn't nearly as humid and awful as Neverland had been, but both of them are closer to the climate he's used to than this. Riku closes the door with a gentle click, lifting his head to scan the entrance. He's got a bag from the noodle place they visited after Kaneda's overpass incident, a couple of covered bowls. Instead of worrying about where Kaneda is right this second, instead he just moves to install himself at the kitchen table. He's hungry, so he's not gonna wait. Kaneda knows he's coming, after all.]

[Riku nods to him without saying anything -- his mouth is full. After a few minutes of silence he shifts in his chair, sets down his chopsticks to push his hair behind his ear. The movement makes him frown -- he did just take a spear to the chest earlier this week. It's a closed wound, but Cure can only do so much. Idly, he wonders whether it affected his performance in the tournament, but that's something to think about later. Once he's satisfied with his adjusting he settles again, smile quiet.]

You look pretty good for a guy who just kicked the shit out of Peter Pan.

[Noodles always seem like the best choice, to Riku, for times like these, when you're completely beat. Actually, by rights, noodles are good at all times, but especially now. He nods, leaving his chopsticks there for a moment so he can open his drink. There's one for Kaneda too, but it's still in the bag.]

That's true. Though I'm sure sleeping for a whole 24 hours didn't hurt either, right?

[That's what Riku did, anyway. It was really weird and disorienting.]

Um, I don't think they'd let you stay there that long.

[He grins anyway, nodding even as he's tilting his head back down to pick up another bunch of noodles himself. And he's not going to say anything about this lovely display of etiquette in front of him -- honestly, he's seen worse.]

Don't think I've ever slept that long ever.

Academics, I guess. I mean, honestly, I like learning, but the structure of school itself is... it leaves a lot to be desired.

[He nods, reaching up to shove a bit of hair behind his ear again.]

Really, though. I'm pretty beat after the other day, too. I might have been a little smarter when I signed up for that tournament to begin with. Probably wouldn't have signed up if I'd realized I'd still have Neverland wounds left.

Semi-finals.

[Not that that's all that impressive, considering there was only one preliminary round.]

My second opponent was Magicman, and the way we determined the winner was 'first contact', since we were using practice swords. I'm not used to being a in fight where I can't afford to take a hit.

He's good. I was impressed.

Yeah. You get hit and you're done.

[Riku looks down, flexes the fingers of his left hand. The scar along his wrist moves with the muscle.]

If I was smart I wouldn't have participated in something like that until after I was a little more healed. Spears are rough.

Uh, no -- the tournament signups happened after we returned. Like, that day, pretty much. For some reason I didn't consider that I wouldn't be completely healed by the ninth.

Just -- something like that. I didn't literally get thrown on my ass, though.

I think we were pretty evenly matched in skill, but anybody can make a stupid mistake. Honestly, the guy I fought before him sticks out more in my memory because he was really... weird.

[He has to be pretty damn weird if Riku's describing him that way.]
resipiscent: (uh NO)

[personal profile] resipiscent 2016-02-07 06:08 am (UTC)(link)
I mean -- [He waves his chopsticks a little, uncertain how to describe it.] I couldn't see his face, for one. Everybody else was listed under their actual names and he was literally called 'Mysterious Stranger'. And he had this... pressure. I don't know how to put it. Just felt like he was trying to get under my skin from all directions at once. It wasn't just physical, it was like... having a headache, but it didn't hurt. Just felt heavy. And then, he started out with a wooden sword, but I cut the end off it with the Keyblade so he just let it break. And then... you know the way Tetsuo moves stuff -- he called two more swords to him using a power like that. Didn't seem to bother him to do it, though.

Felt like he was talking down to me the whole time. And we fought for a little while, and maybe twenty minutes in he decided he was done. Talked like it was a test he'd been giving me.

[He let him win. Riku feels like having the win handed to him is different than taking it outright -- he feels kind of like he got ripped off. A lot of the atmosphere of that fight felt to him just -- condescending.]
