Oh! That's simple enough. I can even bring you some ingredients from my house if you want -- and show you how to make your own noodles too. It won't be as professional as udon makers' but I can make them pretty darn good.

[His brows throw themselves up in surprise. Homemade noodles?

Holy shit...He'd tasted better quality here in the U.S., definitely, but making his own udon noodles? He almost forgot they didn't just ALWAYS come in a package.]

It's...important. Between you and me, it's Tetsuo's favourite. Get where I'm going with this?

Ooooooh.

Oh, I totally get it. Tell you what, are you free tomorrow? I don't want to make you come all the way out to Heropa, so I'll bring the stuff over in the morning and teach you. How about his dinner tomorrow?

Tomorrow?

[Tetsuo tended to follow him like a puppy nowadays, but he was sure he could convince Hazel to keep him busy. She was over here more often than not, anyway.]

Perfect.

[His hands go out to her upper arms, gently taking them, a genuine smile drifting over his face. Because he could learn this...he knew he could. If he didn't SAY how grateful he was, it sure does show in those eyes.]

Tomorrow night it is!

[Now to get these into the house.]

Hey, do you think you could...

[His head tilts towards the door, which shut while he was going to grab the box earlier.]

[It almost reminds her of Tadashi, that gesture. Cass blinks when his hands land on her arms, but there's no way not to match that smile of his. It's an expression she likes to see and hopes to see more of, and she nods firmly. Tomorrow night.]

Of course. Let me get that for you.

[At least it's safe to open the door with that explicit invitation.]

[With one heave, he hoists it up in his arms and moves out of the way for Cass to turn the doorknob, glad to see he didn't have to step in first for the security system to accept her. What a way to start the afternoon--with the furniture going after one of the few adults Kaneda trusts.]

Just head straight back, kitchen's all the way in there.

[As he tries to see around the box to avoid getting caught on the staircase.]

[It's different from the build of her home, but it's not one she can't figure out. She turns around before she leads the way there to open up the box she handed him, reaching in to pull out a bunch of those Tupperware boxes; they were kept in groups with see through shopping bags, and she takes about half the box's worth of food to lighten his weight. It's then that she nods and starts making her way through the house while humming a tune quietly.]

I didn't think you had any allergies to these things, but just in case there's a list of recipes on the bottom of each box. [In Japanese, of course.] I bet you didn't eat properly in the jungle, so I've got a bunch of vegetables in here. For all of you!

[Kaneda crouches his knees to let her take some of those bags, immediately feeling the weight lift off his arms. He could've carried it, surely, but he had to admit he doesn't mind not bearing ALL the weight. From there, he follows her like a puppy to the kitchen, peeking over the box as he weaves around a few of those cats.]

Recipes, huh. I don't -think- anyone's got allergies. I...never really thought about it.

[Hellloooo things he's going to swipe once his arms are free.]

Wait, do you have edamame in here?

[Because while Kaneda didn't actively seek out vegetables, he certainly had his favourites.]

[She figured he would take them, which is why they're folded papers with the ingredients on the visible side and, folded in, the actual instructions on how to cook them, along with tips. She knows you, Kaneda.]

I've got some in there for you, and another box for that guy -- the Iron Bull! He looks like a drinker, so tell him to try them with some beer! I bet he'll get hooked.

[But mame are not vegetables, child. She smiles over her shoulder at him and sets her armload on the counter once they're in the kitchen.]

The ones in the blue boxes have to be refrigerated. [That's most of them.] The ones in red boxes don't have to be -- they're dry stuff, like trail mix and sweets. Oh-- and I got you some of your favorite tea, too. At the store I use loose leaf, but I got the teabags for this one so don't worry if you don't have a strainer.

[rassera]

[You know your boys, Cass.]

Edamame with beer? Huh.

[But the can't help but crack a smile.] Depends if he can even get the little things out with those huge hands! [Devious little asshole's gonna enjoy watching that play out.]

[When she mentions the tea, his head peeks over the box like a curious little meerkat, eyes fishing for it. Usually he just bought the green box at the store, but reading English was a crapshoot so...he literally just went by 'green box' and hoped for the best.]

The house is gonna LOOOOOVE this.

That's what I figured.

[She brought plenty, too. And not just the one type. She also has a smaller box of some other tea flavors for them to try, too. She smiles as she slides up to him, nudging his arm with her own.]

You let me know if there's anything else you need, okay?

[Kaneda removes all of them, looking at the boxes from all sides as he opens the cabinet to start putting them away. Memorizing them silently as he stacks them one on top of the other. He doesn't even notice Aunt Cass coming up to him until she nudges, his head turning immediately towards her.]
