[Maybe Tetsuo isn't expecting Maya to keep calling for him. After all, the span of time during which she was suppose to take care of him has passed, hasn't it? Kaneda's returned home, and though Tetsuo's staying, it isn't as though Maya has any obligation to continue.

But it's not as though she thinks she does. No, Tetsuo's a person she cares about now-- who she wants to see get better. All that means is that her little taming-of-the-Tetsuo game isn't done.

She's cooked again today; her having stopped for so long has made her realise just how much she missed cooking for Pearl. Umeboshi onigiri and a new package of peach-flavored green tea had been on her list today, and there was plenty of it to share. She's enlisted Komasan as her helper again today and had him carry the tea cup upstairs.]

Are you awake? We've got lunch ready!

[He actually wasn't fully awake. When sleep is hard to get, you take whenever exhaustion drops you. But the surprise in his voice comes out even through the sleepiness.]
