Though known for its heavy rainstorms, today Maurtia Falls sees fortunate, moderate temperature and a bright sun that is occasionally hidden by large clouds drifting by. Normally a relatively quiet location, news of the Swearing In Ceremony spread like wildfire throughout the city and set off intrigued murmurs among its locals, however they will and do leave imPorts visiting and strolling about their streets to their own devices. Most of the excitement is focused in its Town Square, with a decorated banner hung up around the main street reading Welcome to Maurtia Falls, imPorts! and where the Ceremony will be held, with the current mayor taking the time to drop in and view the festivities and welcome imPorts personally.

Volunteers of all ages gather at the Town Square and there is information readily available to imPorts looking to move across states and settle in government housing located not too far from downtown. Soldiers from the nearby base are more than willing and prepared to give imPorts a full tour of the houses should interest be expressed.

There is much to see in this city, also known for its exquisite cuisines and active nightlife if imPorts decide to stay past midnight and scope out the bars and clubs.

Sometimes, it can be. I'm surprised they dragged the newer imPorts over here. It must be confusing.

A little. I mean I get the gist of the whole situation, I just don't see the point.

Plus some of the people I've met aren't exactly "hero" material.

Many imPorts come from worlds where "superheroes" aren't the norm at all.

Mostly I was talking about a little blue talking dog I ran into. And this girl, she was really helpful, but she seemed pretty frail, too, like she was sick.

[Actually, that does raise a good question.]

[ He shakes his head, the odd look quickly replaced by a more somber one. ]

Back home, no... but some of us did spend some time in another universe before we were brought here where they were common enough.

Another universe?

So you mean you were brought somewhere else from home before? Is this kind of thing that common?

[ He bites down on his lip lightly. ]

I can say if it's common, but a group of us had been in another universe until it was destroyed.

An entire universe? Destroyed?

That's right.

[ His hands fall back on his lap, wringing them beneath the table so none can see. It still haunts him. ]

What happened? I mean, an entire universe...

I'm still not certain after all this time.

A powerful being called Atropos destroyed it. The Porter of that world had... sisters. [ He knows how ridiculous it sounds, but he continues. ] One of those sisters destroyed that universe for some reason.

That's unbelievable. I didn't know anyone that powerful existed.

[ Finally, his salad arrives and it's a lot of salad they've offered him... which defeats the purpose of a salad dish in the first place, but he doesn't say anything as they drop off the plate and then wander back off to serve other tables. ]

If Atropos is still out there... [ He's not sure what became of any of those sisters.

He lifts his fork and then pauses, shaking his head not too long after. ] Sorry, this isn't a suitable conversation during dinner, is it?

No, no, it's important to know I think. At least if anything does happen...

[Not like he'd be able to do anything about it.

I can't say that it won't or will.

[ It is better to be in the know, but how does one prepare for the end of the world? They're stuck in a world where even those who've been able to traverse the universe can't leave. What happens when the world ends and this Porter doesn't send them somewhere else? ]

[Ah, probably not the best subject for someone who's been through it, now that he thinks about it.]

[ He looks down at the plate and inhales sharply. ]

Right, it's not polite to let food go to waste.

[ Even if it's a salad. He picks up the fork laid out for him and procures a forkful of salad. ]
