[OPEN] One Armed Bandit
WHO: Kite and YOU!
WHERE: Martia Falls, and the Passione Casino
WHEN: Evening of 4/15
WHAT: Slot machines and also Kite is like Snow White or something, where did all these animals come from...
WARNINGS: None so far.
a; slots at the passione casino
[Kite had a lot on his mind. There was a lot of unfinished business back home that, even if he weren’t here, he wouldn’t have been able to finish anyway. Because as he reached out for his second small glass of liquor, he recalls the sharp and sudden pain of having his arm torn off.
There was more than that too, and the memory of the chimera ant’s aura alone is enough to send a chill up his spine, let alone the fight. The raw and sheer power of that creature. Even his best weapon and all his years of experience hadn’t been more than enough to scratch it.
Taking a sip of his drink, Kite’s perpetually stoic expression remains as such even with his buzz, and even as he reaches out to pull the arm of the slot machine. There’s an atmosphere of wanting to be left alone about him, but he’s really not as cold as he looks. He could do for some company instead of mulling over what he couldn’t change--over his own weakness, in a sense. There was some comfort in knowing his judgement was right, but that was all. He was still worried over a lot of things, and he could only hope that he had bought enough time for Gon and Killua to escape.
As roulette spins and lands on three of the same, sparse winnings pouring into the collector below, he only has one thing to say:] Hm...bad roll.
b; around martia falls with a kitty
[Back outside after spending most of the night in the casino, Kite lets out a long sigh as he tugs the brim of his hat down, trying to recall where the Porter was again. In retrospect, maybe he shouldn’t have come all the way out here just the gamble, but he was still getting settled in and needed something to do.
While he stands there lost in thought with a hand on his waist, a full grown cat passes by to purr and rub its side against his leg. Despite the bad week, he finds himself looking down and then crouching to reach out and pet the animal. At the same time his other hand comes round to search for a collar, but there is none.]
Pretty friendly for a stray… [Abandoned, then? That or it was an outdoor cat, or perhaps a restaurant owner’s favourite uninvited guest. At any rate, it seemed to be well kempt.]
c; the cats are multiplying
[Kite is walking again, but he's not alone now. The cat is following him still, and this time two more have joined it.
You know, he--
Has mixed feelings about cats suddenly.]
d; wildcard
[For anywhere around Martia Falls or the Passione Casino. Kite plays other games besides just the slots!]

"And why not? Not much for socializing? But it can only benefit you here. As it would benefit any ImPort." Cause you're obviously and ImPort, man, he doesn't even have to guess. Though it'll seem like he's guessing if Kite doesn't know him... which is a little obvious now. Or- maybe not. Come to think of it, he doesn't remember ever speaking on video with this man when he was here last.
"I promise to make it fun."
no subject
"You can tell I'm an ImPort?" He asked, but he wasn't too surprised. Sensing another's Nen went both ways--not that Kite was doing anything to make his own obvious. It was calm and held close to his body, even now.
"...I was done with the slots anyway," Kite gathered up his meager winnings, slipping them into a small pouch at his waist. The motion and the dismissal of his current game meant he'd take Hisoka up on that offer. "At least this will buy another drink."
no subject
"I know you are." A smile. "You've been here before, Kite." His eyes slim. "You and those two boys." He doubts he has to remind him, and watches intently to see what sort of reaction that gets from the man. Hisoka still is unsure how Kite knows them, or about what happens to this man at all.
no subject
"You mean Gon and Killua." Kite already knew the answer, it wasn't a question. "I don't know about them, but I don't remember a place like this."
Of course it's entirely possible he had been here and just forgot, but to agree to that would be to admit to missing an apparently huge and important chunk of memory. Kite will accept that fact if he has to, but right now all he has is this man's word--that's a little flimsier than he'd like. "You make it sound like we've met before."
no subject
"That's possible. Those that arrive and leave, only to arrive again, do not always remember what happened to them here. Infact, it's more common than not in my experience at least." Brows up, looking him over.
"But you and I've met." Lie. "We've spoken a few times in fact." Truth.
"And I've already grown to get rather interested- how intimate could we be, Kite? Have we been?" Smiles. "Not that you remember. What a shame."
no subject
Whether or not he believes what Hisoka's saying doesn't change anything though, because the other man still manages to catch him off-guard. Kite's eyes widen notably and he looks down, clearing his throat to try and hide his own awkwardness. He wasn't even good at dealing with this sort of thing sober, let alone tipsy.
"I--doubt that. You're not really my type."
no subject
no subject
That wasn't the case though, so he ends up cautiously following Hisoka instead, wondering just what he was getting himself into. Kite really wasn't the lying type, so it takes some time before he actually answers the question--composed again. For now.
"It doesn't mater. I'm not interested."
no subject
"Not interested in what? Maybe I want to just be your friend?" A smirk, sliding his hand along the table in an arc. Cards fan out on the felt in a large 'C' shape before he slides his hand back over them, flipping them to show their faces, and then sliding them back into a deck, picking it up.
"What sort of intimacy do you believe I'm implying? Perhaps you're the one getting ahead of yourself." His lids lower, spreading the cards a little in his hand and using them to fan himself a few times. "Not that I mind getting 'ahead'."
no subject
"Ah--," what part of not interested did this man not understand? Kite reaches up to pull down the brim of his hat, flushed as his lips pulling into an uneasy line. He supposes he had jumped to conclusions--not that he thinks for a moment that wasn't the point--and played straight into Hisoka's hands.
"I just wanted to clear up any misunderstandings before they started. When did you say I was here before?"
okay to use power empathy on him?
"A few months ago. I'm sorry I can't say exactly. You left before they did." They as in Gon and Killua. Hisoka starts to idly shuffle as they speak, eventually just using one hand as he checks a few things under the table on his head, where there's a few shelves.
"You certainly kept to yourself for the most part, from what I saw, and were hardly noticed when you left. What a shame, perhaps you can make up for that this time? Do you like making friends, Kite?"
yaasss
"Hm...," he looks down at the table, recounting the past few months. Mostly with the Amateur Hunters, with various contracts before they were lead to the Chimera Ants. Then they found the leg, and it wasn't long after that he met Gon and Killua. There weren't any noticeable gaps in his memory. The only one was...recent.
"I usually keep to myself," he raises his gaze again. "But I have nothing against meeting new people. The world's a big place, and there's interesting people all over it."
no subject
"You're right, we can agree on that." A smile, tilting his head a little, he sets the deck of cards down.
"The game?" Anything you like to play? Or his he picking? "Though we could always play with dice too, I've learned of a new game recently that's quite fun. From another world."
no subject
"Let's try the new one. Care to explain the rules?" A game from another world sounded a lot more interesting than just the usual poker or craps.
no subject
"The name of this game is called Cee-lo. It can be played by a group or merely two players and yes- is all chance." A smile. He knows you prefer it, you were on slots for hours.
"It begins by rolling a single dice to determine the beginner." He'll roll, it's a '2'.
RNG our old friend
Picking the dice up after Hisoka rolls, he gives it a fairly simple tip off his palm. It flips over a few times before landing on a '4'.
"Does the lower or higher number go first?"
Indeed
"The only combinations that matter as these, listed in order of best to worst." Sliiding the sheet over to Kite now.
"Your most desirable roll, and thus, goal, is to roll a 4-5-6, which cannot be beat by any other roll. If you roll this the other player loses that round automatically." On the paper it's got a listing of numbers that looks like this.
4-5-6 automatic win
6-6-6
5-5-5
4-4-4
3-3-3
2-2-2
1-1-1
any pair + 6
any pair + 5
any pair + 4
any pair + 3
any pair + 2
any pair + 1
1-2-3 automatic loss
"Should you roll anything other than that, you continue to roll until you get one of these combinations, and then pass the dice to me. My roll will either win or loss, and then another round is started, always going back and forth with who rolls first."
"Any questions?"
no subject
"Seems simple enough," he reaches for the dice now, jostling them lightly in his hand to test their weight so he doesn't throw them too hard. "Let's start."
Kite rolls a 4-4-5. His reaction is almost predictable, a slightly downwards quirk of his lips and a mumbled, "...Bad roll."
no subject
"But not as terrible as mine, the first point goes to you. Simple, yes. Shall we continue?" This game of luck interesting to you?
no subject
He picks up the dice, rolling a 3-5-5. It's no better or worse than his last roll, so he doesn't actually comment on it this time.
no subject
"OOhh-" Worse, yep. He'll roll as well. 3-2-5.
"Ah, re-roll." 1-1-3 "It seems we've tied. Roll again or is that a point for either of us?"
oh wait... I misunderstood the rules. whoops.
To belatedly answer Hisoka's first question, Kite reaches back and pulls out the drawstring bag he'd been keeping his chips in. "You want to bet? Name your price," he drops the bag onto the table.
?
"Mm, bet? I don't really have an interest in chips though." Smiling, crossing his arms and leaning on the felt a little.
thought 3-5-5 counted as a pair + 5
"Then what?"
nah the pair are those fives, the third number is whatever's aside from the pair.
[He'll snatch up the dice.]
Mmm, small favours?
I see now, ty! ;w;
