[OPEN] One Armed Bandit
WHO: Kite and YOU!
WHERE: Martia Falls, and the Passione Casino
WHEN: Evening of 4/15
WHAT: Slot machines and also Kite is like Snow White or something, where did all these animals come from...
WARNINGS: None so far.
a; slots at the passione casino
[Kite had a lot on his mind. There was a lot of unfinished business back home that, even if he weren’t here, he wouldn’t have been able to finish anyway. Because as he reached out for his second small glass of liquor, he recalls the sharp and sudden pain of having his arm torn off.
There was more than that too, and the memory of the chimera ant’s aura alone is enough to send a chill up his spine, let alone the fight. The raw and sheer power of that creature. Even his best weapon and all his years of experience hadn’t been more than enough to scratch it.
Taking a sip of his drink, Kite’s perpetually stoic expression remains as such even with his buzz, and even as he reaches out to pull the arm of the slot machine. There’s an atmosphere of wanting to be left alone about him, but he’s really not as cold as he looks. He could do for some company instead of mulling over what he couldn’t change--over his own weakness, in a sense. There was some comfort in knowing his judgement was right, but that was all. He was still worried over a lot of things, and he could only hope that he had bought enough time for Gon and Killua to escape.
As roulette spins and lands on three of the same, sparse winnings pouring into the collector below, he only has one thing to say:] Hm...bad roll.
b; around martia falls with a kitty
[Back outside after spending most of the night in the casino, Kite lets out a long sigh as he tugs the brim of his hat down, trying to recall where the Porter was again. In retrospect, maybe he shouldn’t have come all the way out here just the gamble, but he was still getting settled in and needed something to do.
While he stands there lost in thought with a hand on his waist, a full grown cat passes by to purr and rub its side against his leg. Despite the bad week, he finds himself looking down and then crouching to reach out and pet the animal. At the same time his other hand comes round to search for a collar, but there is none.]
Pretty friendly for a stray… [Abandoned, then? That or it was an outdoor cat, or perhaps a restaurant owner’s favourite uninvited guest. At any rate, it seemed to be well kempt.]
c; the cats are multiplying
[Kite is walking again, but he's not alone now. The cat is following him still, and this time two more have joined it.
You know, he--
Has mixed feelings about cats suddenly.]
d; wildcard
[For anywhere around Martia Falls or the Passione Casino. Kite plays other games besides just the slots!]

Indeed
"The only combinations that matter as these, listed in order of best to worst." Sliiding the sheet over to Kite now.
"Your most desirable roll, and thus, goal, is to roll a 4-5-6, which cannot be beat by any other roll. If you roll this the other player loses that round automatically." On the paper it's got a listing of numbers that looks like this.
4-5-6 automatic win
6-6-6
5-5-5
4-4-4
3-3-3
2-2-2
1-1-1
any pair + 6
any pair + 5
any pair + 4
any pair + 3
any pair + 2
any pair + 1
1-2-3 automatic loss
"Should you roll anything other than that, you continue to roll until you get one of these combinations, and then pass the dice to me. My roll will either win or loss, and then another round is started, always going back and forth with who rolls first."
"Any questions?"
no subject
"Seems simple enough," he reaches for the dice now, jostling them lightly in his hand to test their weight so he doesn't throw them too hard. "Let's start."
Kite rolls a 4-4-5. His reaction is almost predictable, a slightly downwards quirk of his lips and a mumbled, "...Bad roll."
no subject
"But not as terrible as mine, the first point goes to you. Simple, yes. Shall we continue?" This game of luck interesting to you?
no subject
He picks up the dice, rolling a 3-5-5. It's no better or worse than his last roll, so he doesn't actually comment on it this time.
no subject
"OOhh-" Worse, yep. He'll roll as well. 3-2-5.
"Ah, re-roll." 1-1-3 "It seems we've tied. Roll again or is that a point for either of us?"
oh wait... I misunderstood the rules. whoops.
To belatedly answer Hisoka's first question, Kite reaches back and pulls out the drawstring bag he'd been keeping his chips in. "You want to bet? Name your price," he drops the bag onto the table.
?
"Mm, bet? I don't really have an interest in chips though." Smiling, crossing his arms and leaning on the felt a little.
thought 3-5-5 counted as a pair + 5
"Then what?"
nah the pair are those fives, the third number is whatever's aside from the pair.
[He'll snatch up the dice.]
Mmm, small favours?
I see now, ty! ;w;
Depends on the favour. There are things I won't do.
Mhmm
no subject
I won't do anything that takes more than ten minutes of my time. [That should cover anything else fishy he might be asked.]
Now roll.
whops brackets uh, sorry HAHA
5-4-2.
Rerolls. 3-3-4!
"Another point to you, you're so lucky!" A small clap of his hands.
omg I. don't think I even realized lmao
1-4-6, no good. He tries again and gets 3-3-4. "Huh," the same as Hisoka's roll. He's interested to see how this one turns out.
Whoooooopppsspspsppspssss
"Only when you win? So it's large goals and not the small ones in between with you?" A smirk.
2-2-1.
"Buuuuuuu! What a bad roll!" Yes, oddly cheerful despite losing.
no subject
"That's pretty bad," he's at three points now, but there's still plenty of time for Hisoka to catch up. 4-6-3 is his first roll.
"Re-roll...," and his second is an abysmal 2-2-4. "Tch."
no subject
"It's quite bad, yes." A small smile, bent over as he hunches up his shoulders. Keeping his chin on a hand, elbows on the felt.
2-3-5, when he rolls next, smiling calmly as he does. He'd like to win though, maybe cheat to? He could. Or he could lose and owe him, ah, they both have their benefits.
1-2-3.
"Hah!" An actual laugh at that, moving to cover his mouth. Wow he is really on a losing streak today, damn. But this was how it started with his game with Josuke as well.
no subject
"Heh," that earns a small smile. He'd almost guess these dice were rigged if it weren't for the fact Hisoka was the one losing. "It doesn't get any worse than that, does it?"
Four points for him, and his next roll is a poor 6-6-3.
no subject
"So if I win, it's by a hair it seems. My nerves may be shot by the end of this game, console me, would you?"
no subject
That's as consoling as he'll get, and when he rolls a measly 6-6-1 next it might be Kite that needs another drink. "Ah...damn."
no subject
5-2-2 is his roll after that, not really that bad at all, even if those twos are misleading. he smiles, putting up two fingers on one hand and four on the other.
"Catching up!"
no subject
He rolls a 1-1-2 and makes a vaguely sour face.
no subject
Kite's having fun. Good.
1-4-5.
1-5-6.
5-5-4!
"Hah! Only one now!" Offering the dice with a big smile on his face.
no subject
5-5-6. Even without the 5s, that was a decent roll. More combinations were below it than above, but that didn't mean Hisoka couldn't get lucky. Still, he found himself smiling a little. It's been awhile since he had any casual fun.
no subject
2-3-4.
"5-5-6 is hard to beat." Glancing up to him, his power empathy activating for a moment, taking a peek. Kite seems natural around numbers, but he felt that way seeing him in this place. What takes his attention is more- the small shadow looming near Kite's shoulder. A glance there, but short, rolling again.
4-1-3. 4-4-3.
"Back to two below, so that makes you at 7?" Pft, no, but whatever.
