WHAT: A big imPort charity fair!
WARNINGS: Everyone's traumatic past and all that entails. No really. Everyone's. Please use your own discretion.

There's an imPort charity fair going on down at a park by the beach in fair Heropa, today! You've probably seen it advertised for a couple of weeks, now. In the newspaper, on the network, flyers on street posts-- so on and so forth. All proceeds go towards the safety net fund for unsettled imPorts! Their aim as stated is to ensure all imPorts who come here-- especially children-- don't feel pressured in to registering just because they're worried they won't be able to get a job or have anywhere to live otherwise. They've been around for a while. Perhaps you've received help from them already, or heard of them in passing.

Perhaps you're just lured by the promise of food and drink.

Or perhaps you'd like to try to try your hand at some of the amateur game stalls set up?

Maybe you were just walking past and came to see what all the commotion was about.

Or maybe you're genuinely interested in the charity and wished to put a donation straight in the box, or wanted to suss out the man in charge. (Mandrake's around, talking to potential donors.)

Maybe you've come because you're interested in the advertisement of the charity's free resume building help and networking services for imPorts.

Or perhaps, like any seasoned imPort, you just don't trust large gatherings of imPorts in one place to not go wrong, and you're here on guard in case the worst should happen.

Whatever the case, the weather is fine and the fair seems to be bustling. Plenty of imPort-sympathetic locals are here as well, mingling and generally having a good time. What are you doing in the crowd?

As per the OOC post, characters don't have to participate in this log to participate in the plot, but the purpose of the log is to help facilitate as much memory sharing in one place as possible to avoid flooding. Yeah. Am I not what you expected?

... No, you're not far off ... It's just always weird seeing someone in person for the first time.

Yeah, I hear you. It's strange, but your appearance doesn't surprise me either, you know? Like, I didn't really have an image of you, but this fits.

[He nods, and he's interested in the kid now, because he evokes a sort of nostalgia for before, back when he didn't know anything about other worlds or the darkness or Keyblades. But he knows Hiro is past his own adventure's beginning, so he doesn't mention any of that.]

Enjoying yourself, are you?

[ He huffs a bit at that - what do you mean, this was what you expected? - but Riku gets a smile in the end. ]

It's a nice little fair, yeah. And it's a good cause.

Yeah. That's what I was thinking, too. I like festivals. Shame I can't catch a goldfish here, though. I was thinking I'd like to get something like that.

They always die within like a week anyway. Or at least all of mine did.

Really?

[He raises a brow. How is that even a thing?]

I bet I can keep mine alive for a year.

Bet? So, you've never actually done it?

Sure I have. Goldfish need like, certain care, that's all. Can't just toss 'em into a bowl of tap water and expect them to survive.

Well ... no. We didn't do that to ours. But we also had a cat.

[Riku shakes his head at the implication, though he's got a small smile on his face.]

I see. Unfortunate victim, huh? Poor fishes.

Yeah, I felt bad for 'em ... Aunt Cass wouldn't let us bring home any more after the first couple.

Probably a good idea. You ever think about getting a pet here, though?

Why get one when I can build one?

Well, I guess you could do that too. [Weirdo robot kid. Though he supposes there's less risk of a robot pet getting sick and there's no chance of it dying, so there are perks there.]

[ Exaaaactly. Hiro loves the family cat and all, but he's a robot nerd first and foremost. ]

That's the current plan.

I still think I'd like something alive, though. Robots are cool, but... I don't know, I just think I'd rather have something made of meat. [He smiles quietly, then looks down at the bag of fries in his hand.] Have you eaten?

-- Oh, no. Not yet.

[ He steals some fries, since Riku's being so generous about it. ]

You can build robots to be warm and cuddly too, y'know.

[He just hands it over wordlessly -- he had a snack before coming here, so he'll get something more substantial later.]

I guess so, huh? I never really thought about it. Never had the opportunity to have a choice in the matter.

[ Yum. Hiro wastes no time in starting to devour them. ]

Huh? What do you mean?

I mean, I've never had to choose between a real animal and a robot. Nobody I know is that into robotics.

Is it just not a thing where you come from?

Yeah. I mean, I'm sure the potential is there, but it'd be a really niche interest. Sounds to me like robotics are more wide-spread where you come from.

Oh. Huh. I've been surrounded by it all my life so I guess I didn't think about it.

I bet. Probably where you're from, it's a little more high-tech than where I'm from. I mean, at home, we don't have hover cars. Though really the islands are more of a boating community anyway.
