Gladion Catch-All + Feywild weirdness

WHO: Gladion & anyone (open)
WHERE: around the porter cities. Specifically Maurtia Falls & Heropa. But open to anywhere.
WHEN: during the month of may (who needs time, really?)
WHAT: catch-all, feywild event shenanigans as well
WARNINGS: alcohol mention (no drunkenness, but will update as needed).


May has come and Gladion can be found around any of the cities doing various things.

Between May 4th - May 8th, Gladion will be reverted back to a child for this (around age ten), while retaining all of his memories and thank Arceus his pokemon will be unaffected by this age down. However, he himself will be thoroughly unamused by all of this happening. He may start a fight, he may not, it depends on who you are and what you do or say to him. He shouldn’t be too much of a threat to anyone.

Between May 9th - May 14th, Gladion will be aged up to an adult (roughly around 25 or so) looking like an attractive man who semi resembles his mother in appearance with longer hair, only with a bit more of an attitude and not as much of those nasty little things she did. His attitude is a bit more mature and he’s less likely to start a fight with someone, although he still will get confrontational depending on who exactly it is depending on who he’s gotten to know.

With May 15th onwards, Gladion will revert back to normal in both size and correct age. He’ll be both confused and mildly irritated due to the age jumping, especially with having become older and seeing that he’s taking a bit after his mother in appearances.

Aged down annoyances | OTA

[Of course his luck could not be any worse, could it? Gladion’s found himself reverted back to his child body, and from what he can tell, he’s ten years old again. But he still has his memories of his past few months here, he’s only much younger now.

What makes it worse is that some of the local shopkeepers at the shops he’s shopped at think he’s always been like this! He’s fifteen, not a scrawny ten year old despite his appearances, and oh no what’s even worse than his appearance is his voice. He sounds like his sister and this makes him want to just hide, however luck is not on his side, ever during this. He can be found glaring at shopkeepers around Maurtia Falls or arguing with people at or near the porters for treating him like a lost child who can’t find his parents.

Although the ImPort fans are just as crazy as ever and he’s gotten chased down by a few of them just because he looks like a child, calling him things like cute and adorable. He can easily be found hiding away from them if he’s not at any of the porters or bickering with shopkeepers. He just wants to be left alone and good luck to anyone who has caught him as a child because he won’t be holding his tongue.]

[Detective David Loki has also lost a few years - from his usual age of thirty-three, he's now seventeen but he doesn't remember being older at all. He's trying to sort out what happened and where he is but along the way there's some petty theft and shoplifting. While doing so he hears the shopkeeper arguing with somebody. It's a great distraction and he puts a few items in his pockets before strolling toward the door.]

Good luck, kid.

[He remarks as he passes by.]

[The passing comment of "good luck kid" is enough to set him off and lose what little control of that temper he has left, although it's comical with the higher pitch in his voice as he snarls to the boy that passes by.

He's about as threatening as a baby Meowth with his size and voice compared to the older boy, but he doesn't care one bit.]

And who the hell do you think you're calling kid? Just because I look like one doesn't mean I am one! I'm fifteen for Arceus's sake!

[He puts his hands up in front of him, more startled by the outburst than afraid.]

Hey, hey. No offence, all right?

[Gladion stares at him flatly, thoroughly unamused by literally everything around him, the boy included. His attitude problem deserves an ass-kicking for a ten year old.]

Tch. Everything's gotten weird around here, more than it was before! Some people are sparkling when they didn't the other day and the locals think it's totally normal!

[retaining his memories makes this worse for him since he sounds crazy to anyone who doesn't have any memory of before this wackiness.]

[Tina, meanwhile, is over the moon. She knows she should be more concerned about the why, but for now, she is an anthropomorphic horse, sporting light blue hair and a dark blue mane.

It's all she can do to stop herself from running everywhere she goes, just to hear the sound of her hooves clipclopping everywhere. Today, though, she has to slow down because a very dubious Jake is with her, the pony clearly not sure what to do with this horse who sounds and smells just like his Tina, but doesn't look a thing like her. And when he sees a normal human, he plants his hooves and refuses to budge.]

Oh, come on, Jake, I... ... [She does a double-take at the child Jake is peering at.] Gladion?

[In his surprise he doesn't even respond to who's talking to him for a while until Umbreon bumps him, which makes him stumble a bit since he was too busy staring at the horse, and... Tina? Her voice sounds like Tina but she doesn't look like Tina, but her voice couldn't be coming from the actual horse itself.

The poor boy is so confused that his brain is having a hard time putting it together until he realises he's been staring without saying anything for a while.]

T-T-Tina? Is that really you?

[continuousgroaning]

[Tina almost says something to fill in the awkward pause, but she stops; she realizes this must be a lot to take in, after all. So she patiently waits for Gladion to speak.]

Uh-huh. I woke up like this, but... you're younger now. I wonder what's going on? Usually when something like this happens, people who experience it all have the same thing happen to them...

So did I, I woke up looking like how I did when I was ten. Thankfully Umbreon and the others are unaffected, I know Umbreon wouldn't be happy to have found himself younger and clumsier from when he was five years ago.

[At the mention of him as an Eevee all those years ago and indeed clumsier, Umbreon drops his ears and looks comically annoyed while letting out an ashamed yet mildly annoyed "Breeeee" at Gladion for even deigning to bring that up. How embarrassing.

Gladion laughs at his pokemon's reaction and then shakes his head at the question of what's going on.] I... don't know. It's frustrating being like this, some of the locals even seem affected by it by thinking it's normal. [a pause, then.] You mean this has happened before?

Flying on his sword is an adventure when he is small. Not...small as in a child, but just shrunk down, proportionally. Everything he was wearing--jeans, t-shirt, sword, and headband--have shrunk down with him until he is roughly three feet tall and a menace to society.

And he is a menace mostly because he is flying on his sword (much like a surfboard) through the obstacle course that are the busy streets of Maurtia Falls during the day after he was let off from chicken-suit-wearing on account that the suit no longer fit. Is flying about like this extremely irresponsible? Yes. Is Jingyi going to worry about the mayhem is might cause? Not today!

No, today he is playing with the random music that keeps him company. The faster he goes, the more interesting music he has ended up with.

"Hey! Gladion!" he shouts as he barrels down on the group of fans(?) and his friend with the delightful accompaniment of guitars and synth, which abruptly starts over as Jingyi gets close enough to realize he is going to have a challenge trying to stop without slamming into anyone.

THAT THEME-- top notch, or rather-- top gun ;)

He almost has to do a double take after yelling at the people swarming him and threatening to let Umbreon do something dangerous, which... doesn't yield much success in that squeaky ten year old's voice that's coming from him. What does, however, get this crowd's attention is a person coming straight for them. Hostile or not, and wait-- is that Jingyi? It certainly is by the voice he hears, with music blasting in tow from arceus knows where.

"Jingyi, CAREFUL!" He shouts as he dives out of the way, hoping his friend doesn't crash land into the grass, which would certainly be painful! Gladion calls out Null in some hopes that the large pokemon would help with a landing or at least a softer blow should Jingyi lose control of a landing. Null's handled worse and has definitely had Gladion crash land onto it from likely higher and speedier crashes.

At the moment, Jingyi's brain is made of distractions (ooh, Umbreon!) and rock music, and he is perhaps...less than careful. His center of balance did not change, but with so much less mass he has more oomph using the same about of spiritual energy. Which ends up meaning that when he tries to do his braking maneuver, he nearly kickflips himself off his sword backward.

He does not fall off his sword; instead, he pinballs through the crowd, bounces from someone's hip, and whallops into Null for a hard landing. His sword goes...somewhere. Flying a ways without him.

For Jingyi's part, though, he just flops backward off of Null onto the grass to stare up at the sky.

"That might have been a mistake," he tells Gladion in between pants.

The direction Jingyi is hurtling closer makes Gladion wince as he knows that even with the stop Null can provide, it'll still cause a loud, and possibly painful, thump against the large pokemon. Luckily, he sees that Null's helmet was fortunately missed as a landing pad, which would have hurt quite a lot.

Umbreon, seeing the direction the sword flew of in, darts over to get it before any of the obnoxious fans could dare to pick it up; growling very threateningly at anyone who was brave (or stupid) enough to still make the attempt. Sword in mouth, awkwardly, Umbreon brings it back and sets it gently down next to its owner.

Gladion however, is failing at suppressing his laughter and nodding his head. "You think? But you cleared everyone off, so... uhh.. th-thanks."

[ it appears something was happening to the imPorts and just made Kaneki reconsider this whole place. If plant monsters during Swear-Ins and weird magical feats affecting imPorts is common, he no longer thinks this place is as nice as it was when he first arrived.

Mostly, it's really weird on a level he can't even explain. He is trying to adapt, but how do you adapt to people turning into kids or animals?

Still, he tries to go about his life, he hasn't been affected (yet), so maybe he will be okay. As he comes out of a bookstore, he sees a kid bickering away at a shopkeeper on his own; in a way, Kaneki expected the kid's parents to show up and apologize, but they don't, and some sort of brotherly instinct takes over him and he approaches with a small awkward smile ]

Hello- I'm sorry, is everything okay? [ ARE YOU LOST CHILD. Pls don't scream at adults ]

[HE'S NOT LOST BUT HE'S GONNA BITCH ANYWAY! He's also got Umbreon so he's... Supervised?

Well at least one person isn't treating him like a kid or calling him kid when Kaneki talks to him, although he's definitely in a mood to not be nice, but the brotherliness takes him aback since he's used to doing that to Lillie, or was used to doing that when the two were much younger when their father was still around.

This doesn't stop Gladion from giving a bratty huff and small, not very threatening, glare to the boy.]

No, everything is not okay! [He pouts and puffs, but really from a ten year old body it looks more cute than bratty.] This crazy world is making everything weird again. I'm 15, not 10!

Kaneki looks at the other man first, just to give him an apologetic nod, before he urns his full attention to Gladion. He found that listening to children works much better than just trying to confront them, and it's a lot less condescending too. Kids are kids, but they usually have a reason to do things.

And Kaneki sure was ready to ask what Gladion meant about the age thing, but then it his him... he knows him! ] Eh? Gladion?! [ younger, that's for sure, but it is him! ]

[DOES TOO! Kids go out with pokemon all the time and end up just fine!

His name being used does take him aback. Finally someone recognises him, but at the same time... how did they recognise him. This is all sorts of confusing for him, but he's relieved no less that someone knows his name.

However upon closer inspection of the boy that said his name.] W-WHAT? Kaneki? Yes it's me Gladion, this magic nonsense did this to me!

[Roxas doesn't immediately recognize Gladion, but he immediately notices the irritation on the kid's face. Being a 'famous imPort' can really stink sometimes, and the gawking locals seem to listen to kids less.]

Hey, leave my, uh, little brother alone. We've got somewhere to be.

[Maybe it'll help????]

[Hey he can run with this and play the act, recognising Roxas telling to leave him alone. Thank Arceus that someone he knows has come to his aid, although he's not sure if Roxas recognises him just yet, but help is help all the same.

He rushes to Roxas' side with Umbreon clearing a way through the fans closing in on him, bolting out as soon as there's a clear way through.]

YEAH! Me and my brother have things to do today, leave me alone meanies!

[An embarrassing, but thankfully believable act to the locals who seem to be backing off as Umbreon preps to let loose a Dark Pulse should they approach and fawn further. He turns to Roxas with embarrassment hot on his face.] They've been harassing me all day...

Some people just don't know when to mind their own business.

[Which is pretty much 'always', as far as he's concerned. He glances down at the kid.]

Uh...have we met before? You look kind of familiar.

No, they don't. Getting in everyone's faces and in their business.

[He's about to raise a stink before realizing that, right, he looks younger and doesn't exactly look like himself.]

Oh.. right. It's me, Gladion. All this magic going crazy hit me and well, I got stuck in this frustrating form.

At this point, Adam is mostly just wandering around the different porter cities to see what's happening around there. Perhaps not the safest activity, but he's not seen anything stating any of these changes being outright dangerous. He's turned older, younger again, changed color, Dog turned into a cat and sparkled and changed through every color of the rainbow...it all mostly just seems like a nuisance.

He doesn't really expect to stay long, but then he happens to find a someone around his age, just...hiding? He watches them for a moment, before walking over, looking curious.

"Are you alright?"

In the hiding place he's made for himself, Gladion sure didn't expect to be found, and being found puts him very on edge as well as Umbreon before the dark type can sense little threat and more what appears to be concern or confusion. Seeing that Umbreon has relaxed, relaxes Gladion only slightly.

"N-no. I keep getting chased by those damned imPort crazed fans! They won't leave me alone!" He huffs with irritation clear on his voice.

Adam blinks, looking up and down the street, looking for anyone who might be searching for the young boy. While he has his own ways to deal with imPort fans and reporters and vloggers and the like, they're still a nuisance. Just recently, someone got really hurt trying to get away from some...

"Coast's clear." He says, slightly quieter, facing Gladion again. "I can help keep them off you, if you'd like. If you're going anywhere."

With the confirmation of the harassers being gone, he lets out a relieved and heavy sigh, glad to finally be rid of the crowd that has been chasing him a good portion of the day.

"Good, I can't stand those people and I don't want to end up getting hurt like someone I know did." He inhales, contemplating saying no and stubbornly doing it on his own, but he really could use the help keeping those people off of him. Umbreon could use the help too. "Y-yeah.. I could use the help, I was trying to get some food and then go back home."
