Curse Descending
WHO: EDIT: Everyone!
WHERE: Heropa
WHEN: January 2nd 2016
WHAT: Klarion is causing havoc so you all get to bathe in some ominous green mist.
WARNINGS: some fighting and a curse
It's a fine day in Heropa, isn't it? The new year has come and so far nothing horrible has happened....
well, it's time to break that streak right off the bat. Something is going down in Heropa and causing some mayhem that only imPorts can stop! Oh no! Action must be taken against this threat! Clearly upstanding heroes will take flight and restore order. However you hear about it, from the locals, being there yourself or through the network news of this will travel.
Good, because that's exactly what it was supposed to do.
Because when the first problem settles....a new one begins.
(ooc: update: everyone may participate. Please refer to this update for the reasoning. Apologies for the confusion.

THE RUSE
Klarion had stayed up all night trying to magically track his familiar, but no matter how hard he tried, he hadn't been able to pin down the cat's location, or even get a vague sense of where he was. Teekl shed enough fur to power a dozen tracking spells, but Pan's magic was stronger, blocking off their connection and hiding the cat from his senses. Even though he looks strained and exhausted, Klarion's face is set in the grim, determined look of someone with a job to do, no matter how tired. He'll move heaven and earth to get Teekl back, and if that involves being blackmailed into raising magical hell and putting a target on his back, then so be it. ]

The trail of destruction is almost too easy to follow, and Sabriel wonders if some new imPort who's either too self-centered or frightened to care about anyone else is behind this... only to spot Klarion. Her expression hardens, even as she reaches for her sword.]
Stop.
no subject
His expression tanks as he spots the magical chaos Klarion's causing, and the clear evidence left in his wake. He raises his hands, eyes wide, at a loss for words for just a moment. Max stops in his tracks, not wanting his boosting power to give the kid any more ammo. ]
Whoa, now, Klarion. Hold on. Let's talk about this.
no subject
Max is less of a problem, now that he doesn't have green lantern powers. There's... something weird about the kid's presence that Klarion can't quite place, though, so he takes a step towards him, still giving Sabriel the side-eyes.]
No. [ He throws a crackling stream of magicks at Sabriel's sword, aiming to turn the weapon into a dead fish. ] I'm really not in the mood for conversation.
no subject
How dare you. [How dare you treat these people like playthings, how dare you use magic to do so]
Change these people back, and get out of here, before I arrest you and hand you over to RISE.

Curse Descends
Flee or stay it's up to you, all you need to know is this eerie fog will not stop until it consumes all of Heropa. ]
Open
Felix. Where are you?!
[He tries his headset one last time before something suddenly collides with him head on.]

the chaos, however, makes it difficult to navigate. the saving grace is that the world isn't on fire like it was all those months ago when there was a dragon...but he's only so much sure this is better.
Robert Callaghan grimaces as he stumbles back, putting a hand on the nearest wall to steady himself as he stammers an apology. said apology cuts off when he catches a good look at whom he's run in to- his eyes immediately move up to the helmet]
Military?
[none he's familiar with, but he'd be more than happy to defer to someone with far more recent experience than he when it comes to live situations]
no subject
Ex.
[He takes an armoured step forward, while a hint of suspicion comes through amid the filtered voice.]
Who are you?
no subject
[as if to emphasize this, there's a distant scream, and he doesn't flinch so much as stiffen. whatever that gas is, it's not good.]

Kira stops, more put out than anything. He has to say, this really messes with his daily routine. In vain he attempts to navigate through the streets with a glazed, annoyed expression.]
This isn't done. I'm due back from my lunch break at any minute.
Open
Right now, though? Her instincts are screaming for her to get the hell out of dodge. She calls various people as she runs, leaving voicemails and warning them to do the same.]
Bravely ran away away...
[So she'd come out to see what the heck was supposed to happen, and there was the giant evil cloud of death off at the other end of the city. Well. She didn't have any of those lovely flight responses so many others did. So she was just...gaping.]
ihu. <3
Come on! Run!

What? What's going on?!

Where It Once Stood
Clearly some time must be taken before heading on in. ]
Kang | OTA
[It's pure luck that Kang happens to be so close to the city limits that day, checking on a project for work with a coworker. With his superior senses, he's the first in the area to catch on that something is wrong, lifting his head in the direction of the green mist and frowning.
The mist gets closer, and doesn't seem like it's going to stop any time soon. He curses and shouts for everyone in the area to get out of there in a clear, authorative voice, and shifts to his natural form as he and his coworker run towards the city truck they'd driven over in. Once there, he rummages in the back seat to get the sword that, also by pure luck, he'd stashed in there to show his coworker that day and hops in the bed, urging him to drive.
He watches as the mist starts catching up, cursing in every language that he knows. Then, the mist stops as if it hit an invisible wall.
The coworker rolls to a stop and climbs out to stand next to the bed as everyone who managed to escape stares.
Kang lets out another round of curses at the jungle that's revealed.]
This is new.
Handling the Crowd
[Some are injured from their mad dash to safety, and everyone is frightened for themselves and their loved ones. Kang straightens his shoulders and gets to business bringing some order to the situation.
One: Call 911 and get emergency responders to the area.
Two: Gather the wounded in one spot and find anyone with any medical experience to take care of them until said emergency responders arrive.
Three: Check the network for information on what's going on.
Four: Keep people from foolishly running into the jungle and getting themselves killed.
He's obviously got more than enough experience handling situations like this, but he'll welcome any assistance.]
Anything Else
[What it says on the tin!]
no subject
Hmm.
[She reaches out until she touches it again, tracing along it for a moment. Well, she hadn't been expecting this.]

Sabriel | OTA
When the mist touches her, the marks flare, and suddenly Sabriel's not running so much as being pushed, the marks of the spell burning brightly in her mind as they fight against the green mist, and by the time Sabriel's pushed to the edge of the spell's radius, she's wreathed in golden fire that quickly dies down as she stumbles away, the faint glow of her baptismal mark lingering like an ember after a bonfire.]
This is- [It's not Free magic- not exactly, anyway, but it's scent, for lack of a better word, sets her teeth on edge. Sabriel stands, her fingers reaching for bells and sword.]
This is an Abhorsen's duty to help remedy. [She seems to be talking to herself, more than anyone around her.]
And if an imPort's responsible, it's RISE's problem too.
no subject
[ And speaking of stinks, Nicolas, having found, as the mist begins to clear, a cursed jungle between him and where he lives, has decided to take his smoke break here and now. Better to stink of nicotine than nasty green mist.
He's standing well back and away, not at all intent on getting any closer to the cursed ground unless he has to. Although, he did take a step towards Sabriel when she first came stumbling out, torn between going to help or not.
She seems fine, though, so... ]
I would not go back in there, were I you.
no subject
It's vile, but... I may have to. It's not going to go away on its own, and- not everyone got away. The people inside. [Sabriel knew what Free magic could do to unprotected minds and bodies. She brushes a bit of nonexistent dust off of her armor.]
The people of Heropa don't deserve to lose their homes because some fool decided to meddle with things he shouldn't.

for Traci!
It's been a rough couple of days, and all he wants to do is get as far away from here as possible. He'd barely escaped Sabriel, there's no way he's going to go back in there and take on Pan when the monster is at full strength and he's exhausted. First though, he needs to rest before making his getaway.]

You look like you could use a nap for the next ten years.
no subject
To be honest, that sounds incredibly appealing right now.
... You're not going in there, are you? Did you get caught up in his mess?
