It's a fine day in Heropa, isn't it? The new year has come and so far nothing horrible has happened....

well, it's time to break that streak right off the bat. Something is going down in Heropa and causing some mayhem that only imPorts can stop! Oh no! Action must be taken against this threat! Clearly upstanding heroes will take flight and restore order. However you hear about it, from the locals, being there yourself or through the network news of this will travel.

Good, because that's exactly what it was supposed to do.

Because when the first problem settles....a new one begins.

[Locus outright breaks into Felix's apartment when he can't find him after searching for him for days. It's the reason he's out in the streets of Heropa when the fog suddenly descends on the city.]

Felix. Where are you?!

[He tries his headset one last time before something suddenly collides with him head on.]

[something? someone. someone who's regretting stepping in to town for what now seems like a waste of time; it's long past when he should be out.

the chaos, however, makes it difficult to navigate. the saving grace is that the world isn't on fire like it was all those months ago when there was a dragon...but he's only so much sure this is better.

Robert Callaghan grimaces as he stumbles back, putting a hand on the nearest wall to steady himself as he stammers an apology. said apology cuts off when he catches a good look at whom he's run in to- his eyes immediately move up to the helmet]

Military?

[none he's familiar with, but he'd be more than happy to defer to someone with far more recent experience than he when it comes to live situations]

[He takes an armoured step forward, while a hint of suspicion comes through amid the filtered voice.]

Who are you?

[Robert's got his black coat on, but under it he's wearing one of his sweater-vests - that, and his hands quickly moving palm-up by his chest, could easily flag him as nonthreat. he certainly seems as though he's trying to make it clear he's far from a danger, speaking quickly.] Sorry, the armor- my name's Robert. There's some kind of gas spreading through the city-

[as if to emphasize this, there's a distant scream, and he doesn't flinch so much as stiffen. whatever that gas is, it's not good.]

[The ruse works, he slots him as a civilian but that doesn't mean he doesn't view him as a threat. He's been in the merc business for too long to so easily let down his guard over nothing but appearance.]

[He hears the scream and looks up.]

The portals.

[It's all he says before he moves past him ready to leave him behind in favor of saving himself before he got swallowed up by the gas too. His armour is air tight and he's got enough oxygen to last him for a few hours. Still, he'd rather not be exposed if he doesn't have too.]

[...okay, to be fair, military (or ex such) doesn't automatically make you a hero, but if Callaghan's correctly guessed what this armored figure's already about to do- really?

also to be fair; Callaghan's inclined to do the same. once he's certain he's not about to be shot, he turns, then half-reaches out-]

You're heading right for it!

[considering he just came from that direction-!]

[The tug at his arm has him stopping.]

The portals are located in that direction.

[And they're the fastest way out of the city.]

Do you really think it's a good idea to head straight in to the- whatever it is, even if you're armored? For all you know it can corrode it!

[MILITARY HIS ASS, that's basic knowledge. you don't go straight for something you're not certain of!]

Nothing corrodes this alloy, not even the harshest nebulas.

Either we go for the portals or we die here. The portals are an escape route, out here we're sitting ducks.

[Locus is a soldier that's been on the front lines for too long. He knows sometimes there's no safe option simply a better one.]
