WHAT: Age plot kickoff!
WARNINGS: Cuteness.

[ LET'S GET THIS PARTY OFFICIALLY STARTED! Opening events so we don't do too much comm flooding (although people are welcome to make their own posts for the event). You're welcome to toplevel with your character if you'd like to have them show up somewhere else for this plot.

[ We weren't kidding -- unfortunately for Charlie, even tinier than he was before, a certain Star-Lord will be running directly into him, likely sending the both of them tumbling.

Sorry, Charlie. ]

[ And for the second time that day, Charlie goes crashing onto the sidewalk. At least he has a pile of clothes to cushion his fall again.

He scrambles to his feet, looking around for whoever or whatever mowed him over, when he spots Peter. That coat seems familiar... and the walkman... ]

Are you okay? Is someone chasing you? [ because why else would he be running, right? ]

[nostalgiabomb]

[ Peter had whipped a hand out to catch himself before he fell face-first into the pavement, his other hand clutching his Walkman to his chest. When he fell, the jacket flopped onto the sidewalk, which Peted hastens to scoop up. ]

Sorry-- sorry, I didn't see you--

[ Charlie's question gives him pause, though, and he turns to regard the other kid, beroe furrowing. ]

No one is chasing me. I-- I got lost.

[animated]

[ It's a fair bet that Charlie's smaller than Peter, and he probably looks ridiculous in his oversized t-shirt ]

It's okay. Do you want someone to walk with?

[nostalgiabomb]

[ WOW. brow. that was meant to be brow. i should stop tagging from my phone.

In any case, Peter is quiet as he takes in the sight of Charlie -- the oversized shirt, the bundle of adult-sized clothing in Charlie's arms -- and he chews on his lip. That was basically how Peter remembered this whole thing starting, too -- only he had ditched all of his own clothing but the jacket.

(He likes this jacket. It is a good jacket.)

Visibly he hesitates before he ventures, ]

Your clothes didn't fit either?

[animated]

[ Charlie shakes his head. ] Nope. All of a sudden they were way too big. I don't know what's going on.

[nostalgiabomb]

Mine were like that too.

[ Peter as a child was never one for conversation, and he shifts uncomfortably. After a second, he speaks again. ]

Do you know where we are?

[animated]

Umm. I kind of remember a portal? I know there's a thing up ahead I can use to get to my house.

Do you want to come with me? It's better than running around.

[nostalgiabomb]

[ He chews on his lip again, taking a quick glance around. The fact that the idea of a portal, like straight out of science fiction, doesn't bother him should probably tell him something, but it doesn't. He remembers Mom saying that he ever got lost he should stay put, but something was telling him none of his family was here, and that they probably weren't looking for him

Somehow, that wasn't as scary as it should've been, but he did feel a pang of sadness at the thought. It shows when he frowns, but he smothers the feeling as quick as he can. ]

... Do you know where you're going, though?

[animated]

Kinda? I know if I go this way- [ and he points ] -I can get to a portal thing that will take me to Nonah. My house is there.

[nostalgiabomb]

[ Another hesitation as he chews on the inside of his cheek, but-- eventually, he nods, though reluctantly. ]

Okay... If it's okay, I mean.

[animated]

It should be okay. I've had friends over before.

[ brightly, he adds: ] My name's Charlie.

[nostalgiabomb]

[ He tilts his head a little in thought. Was there a Charlie in his class? In his neighborhood, maybe? The name and the boy in front of him seem awfully familiar, suddenly, but he can't place them. ]

I'm Peter.

[animated]

Really? I have a friend named Peter. [ he purses his lips trying to remember anything about the friend in question other than his name ] He likes music and Star Trek.

[nostalgiabomb]

[ Those are two very common things to like, Charles. And Peter is a pretty common name. Which is why this Peter just nods. ]

That's neat.

[ So enthused. ]

I like Star Trek, too. [ Music, meanwhile, is just. Who doesn't like music? ]

[animated]

[ You are such a party pooper, gosh. ]

You do? [ well, it's something to talk about! ] Who's your favorite character?

[nostalgiabomb]

Captain Kirk.

[ He pauses, pursing his lips, then adds, ]

I like Bones, too.

[animated]

Yeah, he's kinda grumpy but I like Bones a lot.

[ we will assume at some point that Charlie picked up his things and the started walking.

He turns around backwards so he can walk and still talk to Peter, and his eyes finally fall on the Walkman ] Is that your tape player?

[nostalgiabomb]

[ no i refuse to assume anything

Peter glances down at it, then nods. ]

Yeah... I, um. Only have one tape, though.

[animated]

[ you'll assume it and you'll like it ]

That's okay. Is there good music on it?

[nostalgiabomb]

Yeah. Mom--

[ He winces when he feels a twinge of something. Sadness? His face seems to fall briefly, and he glances away. ]

Mom put the songs together for me.

[animated]

Oh. Uh. I'm sorry. We can talk about something else.

[nostalgiabomb]

[ Peter keeps his gaze averted to the ground and only nods in response.

Got yourself a real chatty buddy here, Maxwell. ]

[animated]

[ Well, that's okay. Charlie can do the talking. ]

We have a dog at our house. His name is Koro. I bet you'll like him.

[nostalgiabomb]

[ Peter slowly nods. ]

Yeah... I like dogs. [ For a second, he seems content to let that be his only contribution, but in an effort to hold up his end of the conversation, he adds, ] Mom won't let me have one. She said we can't afford it.
