WARNINGS: Traumatic memories. Possible talk of murder, death, blood, other nasty things. I'll try to update if the warnings needed but please use content warnings if it gets super nasty!

It starts off on March 4th, the early morning before the sun's even risen. You know those weird mirages that were hanging around the day before? Well now it's getting a little personal.

These mirages come and go seemingly for no reason. They might stay for a minute, they might stay for an hour. The images vary between person but the unifying factor is that the mirages consist of people the player characters have hurt, whether people in-game or from their homes. Whether they murdered them, slandered them, or even had a petty little argument, the unifying factor is the guilt each character feels towards or about this mirage. After all, you know you hurt them somehow. You know their existence somehow makes you feel guilty.

Another unifying factor? The creepy way these mirages just seem to stick to you. They'll follow you if you try to leave, staring you down with their creepy unblinking mirage eyes. And whoops: everybody can see said mirages. Hopefully you're not being stalked by someone you and somebody else both know, wouldn't that be awkward?

Don't mention it. It would be a shame if my new friend fell through and messed up her hair.

( Eunike's grin is conspiratorial, and she stands, gently catching Sarah's ribs with her elbow before looking between Beth and The Blonde. ) Beth. It is nice to meet you.

( Even if Beth can't reply, and they aren't meeting, and it's weird. ) Sadly, our mystery woman cannot speak for herself.

Her name's Georgia DiCarlo. She's Sarissa's ex.

[ Inside Sarissa's own memories, but she's not about to lay that out for Eunike to deal with on top of everything else. Everyone's got a tipping point, and she figures that on top of all the other shit they're dealing with, it's quite possible that might be Eunike's. ]

( Eunike pauses, then, her study of Beth frozen as she looks towards Sarah slowly, and then to Georgia. )

I hope it's a kinder time for people of their inclination, in the future.

( She says that quietly, looking at Georgia more critically now. Why does she had Sarissa's regrets haunting her? Why is this woman here, and not one of her own ghosts?

She doesn't comment on any of that, or the related tumbling thoughts. )

DiCarlo. Italian?

Yeah, it's generally a kinder time if your family accepts you.

[ Like, hint hint in the future, Yia Yia. Don't get any dumb ideas about being a bigoted old person. As to her second question, though, Sarah follows her gaze and shrugs and admits, ] I think so.

( Excuse you, it's her daughter that's the bigot, tyvm.

There was a young man in my group. We used to make fun of him, before the invasion. He was so— weak seeming, you know? ( Eunike shakes her head, and drags her gaze from Georgia to Sarah. ) He is the cleverest of us. We wouldn't have survived as long as we have without Dimitris. Who he loves? That is his business, not ours. I will gut the person who suggests otherwise.

( So— she waves her hand, in a gesture that's meant to mean she'd do the same for Sarissa, but she does look at Georgia with some concern. ) Unless they're Italian. That's another matter.

[ Oh, god. Sarah can't help but roll her eyes. It's a nice sentiment and all, but then Eunike had to go and ruin it. ]

I said ex, remember. They aren't together anymore.

[magnitudes]

( Eunike looks at Georgia, idly flips the hammer in her hand, and when she looks back to Sarah her brow is furrowed, concerned. )

Ex does not mean it was not a painful parting. Usually it guarantees it, I think.

( A little shrug, and though she has that certain default Eunike severity, there is a moment of hesitation. ) Perhaps it is better for both of them.

I'd say so.

[ Based on the way Sarissa's still so hung up on her after all this time, at least. Though maybe that's the way a person is supposed to feel that way about an ex. It's an alien thing, to Sarah, but it's not like she's an expert on normal relationships. ]

[magnitudes]

Did you meet her? Georgia?

( Yeorgitsa it what she might have been come to be known as, if she were family. It was such a strange thing to thing, such relationships being anything but secret. It was hard to gauge what friends would judge or defend - Eunike herself would have judged, scant years ago. So many still would. )

No. Just heard things.

[ She could tell Eunike about the memory thing, she guesses, but this is so much simpler. ]

Not great things.

( Eunike leans closer to Sarah, and grips her shoulder. )

Sarissa is lucky to have a sister that cares for her so much. I'm glad you have each other, especially when love is so complicated.

( With a gentle squeeze, Eunike releases Sarah's shoulder. ) If you meet this one, make her pay.
