WHO: Anna and Balthazar
WHERE: Downtown Heropa
WHEN: A week or so after Anna's arrival
WHAT: Exploring town and testing Anna's powers with food and chocolate
WARNINGS: N/A - will update if that changes
It wasn't hard for Anna to find her way back to the one spot in Heropa she knew. She'd always remember it, that first glimpse of the sun in a new world. The ice overtaking her heart had been stalled and even regressed, saving her life in a way she would never have expected. Though there were many reasons for her to be angry about being taken from home for Anna, specifically, there were just as many reasons to be grateful. This world had managed to save her life.
It was warm in Florida, warmer than any place Anna had ever been. Warmer still since her body was re-appropriating every ounce of the sun's rays that it could. Anna's energy seemed endless in the days since arriving, something she'd been warned of in her file but still found fascinating in actuality.
Since her arrival, Anna had gone shopping to buy clothes that suited her new power and the time period. Clad in a light green linen dress with yellow accents, she was waiting for Balthazar at the agreed upon location. She'd brought along some small snack foods from the communal fridge and was practicing her chocolate power. One carrot had turned into a truffle that she promptly ate. The next was a less pretty chunk of pure dark chocolate.

<3!
She was just too sweet.
Maybe he was getting sentimental, but being away from Heaven, from the raging conflict seemed to have softened him. At the very least he wasn't as viciously bitter.
Watching her change food to chocolate brought a smirk to his face and he chuckled as he approached.
"You're certainly enjoying your new abilities." He says as the angel comes to a stop beside Anna.
Also -- I've got a permissions for her empathy on her journal if you want in or out!
So, in spite of approaching from a distance it still caught Anna by surprise. She was probably more naive than this world would allow for long but, for now, her innocence was maintained. Balthazar was rewarded with a broad smile and an offering of chocolate in spite of his startling her.
"Well, at least this one is one everybody can enjoy!" Anna smiled brightly. "Feel free to try a bite."
[ooc: Are his wings visible? Because if so, I'll edit this tag for her to babble about them.]
Posted to permissions. :)
The angel looks down at her before bowing down to take a bite from the piece in her fingers. Usually, such an action would be accompanied by an especially flirtatious grin, but then, it's a friendly smile.
Straightening Balthazar takes a moment, letting the chocolate melt a little in his mouth. It was good. Very good and he gives a decadent moan of pleasure and nods encouragingly.
"That's quite the gift."
[ooc: Nope. Not to the everyday mundane/most folks. As an empath she miiiight be able to sense them. ]

Once Balthazar had sampled the chocolate, Anna gave a proud grin.
"It really is! I'm hoping if I practice more that I'll learn how to make the kinds I want. Right now it's sort of random?"
To make her point, Anna tried again on some Cheerios she had in a bag. One ended up mint, another white chocolate, and the last a truffle like the first she'd made. She offered them all to Balthazar if he was interested.
[ooc: I think I'll have her sense them some time down the line when they're better friends and she's gotten better with her power. It would be a cute conversation <3]

"Nothing wrong with surprises." Unless they ended up with a blade in your back but that wasn't relevant. "You seem quite happy with this particular knack."
He took the truffle on offer and popped it in his mouth. Another pleased sound followed. Dear heavens that was good.
"My dear, I think I know someone who would absolutely adore you."
[ooc: No worries! :D]

That smile she had managed to grow. Compliments were nice and so was pleasant company.
"Oh yeah? Someone you knew before you came here or after?" After all, she had family and friends that were brought from her own world. "I've made a few friends but getting to know more people would be nice."
This girl spent way too many years alone. Seriously.
"And I love chocolate so. Yeah. No complaints here!!"

"A friend of mine. My brother in fact. Gabriel. Has something of a sweet tooth." He shrugs as if seeing his big brother alive and well wasn't the best news since free will and gestures down the street. "Shall we walk?"
The poor thing, but lucky for her, the excitement was endearing. Balthazar couldn't help but smile. True sincerity was a tricky find.
"I can imagine not, especially chocolate of such quality. Is that your only gift?"

For Anna, all the powers business was simply magic. That was how such things had been at home and it was easier to think in familiar terms while somewhere so different.
At the mention of walking, she merely nodded and hopped up. Since arriving, her energy had been on overdrive. Anna understood, now, that it was a result of one of her new powers. Still, she forgot that it might have been a bit much for others. She was practically vibrating until they were under way.
"Not the only one. I seem to have empathy too. And..." She trailed off, unsure of how to explain the last one. The power was awfully specific to her situation. Anna settled for her usual brand of rambling. "They call it solar absorption? It helps with this sort of curse, not quite, thing from back home. It also means that I don't really need to sleep or worry about sun balm which is I guess pretty useful given the weather in Florida."

For Balthazar, they were close enough to be the same. Magic was science really when you understood the mechanics behind it. And vice versa.
"That's a useful one." He rubs at the stubble on his chin. "I used to have that." His head cocks to the side as he listens, blue eyed gaze on her face. He nods a slow understanding. "So you're powered by the sun, hmm? Thats..." Wait a minute. "Curse? You have a curse?"
no subject
That might have been said dreamily.
As they stroll, Anna swung her arms back and forth. She always had a lot of energy, the new power just magnified it. Still, it's pretty clear that she was always prone to skipping her way along.
"Really?" She looked positively thrilled they have empathy in common - it meant he might be able to help her with it in the future. "Why don't you anymore? I mean, they didn't take my sister's ice powers away. Which. Speaking of. I guess it isn't exactly a curse but sort of. I mean it wasn't Elsa's fault but she struck me with her ice powers. On accident. It hit my heart..."

He can just feel the energy radiating from within her. It took a little focus, more than he'd usually need and the effort was a touch on the painful side, his grace pushing against the set limitations.
"Really. I think my file said it was to ease me in. It wasn't the only think they took away, though I have no idea how." THey were only humans after all. He was still more than a little annoyed that they had dared. He canted his head to the side as she chattered, frowning a little. "A curse? Hit in the heart? Should I be concerned for your sake?"
no subject
She let Balthazar lead the way since she knew so little of Heropa beyond the few stores she'd frequented.
"What else did they take?" she wondered, not stopping to think it might have been too prying. "Did it hurt?"
Since she was asking questions, it only seemed fair to give answers in kind.
"There might have been a reason for concern if I was back home but here, the solar absorption seems to keep the freezing at bay. I've only had trouble once, when even the moon was dark and the sky too overcast."
no subject
He lead them down a sunny side street, heading towards a street mall that he sometimes wandered while people watching.
"It doesn't hurt. It's just.. annoying. As for what they took," He shrugged. "I can't leave this vessel. I can't really affect myself on everyone else. I can't hear thoughts. That's what I've figured out so far."
The words were a little heated but soon after he huffed a laugh and gave her a smile.
"Still have plenty of tricks, my dear."
He hummed thoughtfully. Freezing, held off by the sun. Fortunate for her. As he was, he wasn't certain he could do anything to help Anna. Not in any meaningful way.
"So plenty of sun for you then."
no subject
She hums at the lost talents. While Elsa was powerful, this man seemed to make her skills look as though they were nothing!
"Gosh, that's really, really powerful! Or was anyways," Anna said. "I'm glad they left you with some of what you had. I'd imagine losing it all might have been difficult. Maybe even scary."
There's a nod regarding the sun.
"Yep! And the best part is I never have to worry about sunburning." Or more freckles but Anna liked her freckles. "I don't even need to wear sun balm!"
no subject
He grins. "Is that so? Then going to the beach must be an utter delight."

Hopefully her tone of awe makes up for what probably sounds like an insult. She finds the trolls to be some of the highest, most magical beings in the world she's from. They're kind and benign, along with being ridiculously overpowered. Anna's eyes are shining though, so she clearly is impressed.
"It is," she says, but sounded a little reluctant. "Well, sort of. Not the biggest fan of swimming."
