I'm in pieces, pick me up and put me together
WHO: Junpei Iori and Kidou Yuuto
WHERE: Maurtia Falls 001
WHEN: Today!
WHAT: Junpei adopted Akihiko's rabbit and it's...very aggressive. Kidou Yuuto is brought in to try and feed it with somewhat better success.
WARNINGS: Killer rabbit.
[It was your average day for Junpei Iori. The sun was shining, the birds were...well, probably singing in another city. It was pretty chilly given it's Pennsylvania, but still, all things considered it wasn't too bad. Junpei's opted for his winter outfit, taking up a more casual appearance to his usual work-related dress. Not that you can really appreciate it. Or at least, he can't.
What was going to be a simple morning followed by some errands in Heropa turned into a fight for his life. Sugar Ray, the rabbit that Akihiko owned and got care thrusted upon him when he was ported out. It was a situation Junpei never asked for and admitted he couldn't do. But when there's no other choice...you have to take up the reins somehow. Junpei ended up taking both the rabbit and the snake, Jacob being as supportive as a space marine could be at the decision (which is, to say, very supportive when snakes wig you out).
But Akihiko had trained the rabbit much like he trained himself--aggressively.
And now Junpei's pretty sure that animal wants to kill him.
So that quiet morning? Completely ruined by the sound of running through the house and out the door, slamming his back against the wood behind it and using his weight to slam it shut. One might ask what Junpei's rush was. It's not like it was a work day and he was late. Hell, it was probably pretty early by the time he makes his way out, the sun peeking over some of the buildings and the fresh, crisp fall air stinging the tips of his nose. But Junpei's eyes are widened, waiting for the inevitable--
**THUMP**
That certainly was...something kicking that door.]
That thing. Is going to kill me one of these days.

How many black vnecks does this kid own, anyway? It's a mystery.
It's a quiet morning, which is the most he's come to hope for from here. Bright, crisp, with the leaves shining vibrantly against the edges of the sun as it rises over the closest house. He's taking the chance to be out in it, enjoying the better areas around the housing for his walk instead of going on any sort of adventures. Mr. Hall doesn't need him today, he's not got classes of any sort or much practice to do, and Kidou did all his homework yesterday in preparation for having a free day.
It seems all's largely in order...
The silence is broken by a series of loud thumps as Kidou passes house 001. He pauses, eyebrows raised, and watches as the thumps grow louder.. and louder...
Mr. Iori explodes out the door, frantically darting in front of it and slamming it back closed. As Kidou stares at him in complete bewilderment, a loud thump echoes the slam of the door.
. . .
So that just happened.]
What was that?

HE should be sleeping in, as a matter of fact.]
Heeeeey, kiddo.
It's nothing, it's nothing. Just a giant killer rabbit. Hehe....
I wish I was joking.
no subject
[Kidou stares at him, then to the door.
He's no expert on rabbits, but to his knowledge they aren't known for their murderous tendencies. Is that something that happens in this world? Or did he hear that incorrectly?]
A killer rabbit?
no subject
That's the big difference.]
Ah...yeah. Pet of my friends who got ported out awhile ago. Guess he was trying to make it live up to the name Sugar Ray.
Thing's got some kind of grudge against me. ...Guess it misses him still.

But what comes to mind fastest is Kogure, the little demon-minded child that his sister made it her personal mission to befriend. That rabbit might be similar. To be honest, it's not that Kidou can't understand it.
He looks at the door, a little concerned now. He's the only one out here, so he has to find something to say in reply, although it takes him slightly longer than it really should have.]
Sorry to hear that.

[He pushes himself from the door, the thump obviously now passed and he feels its safe to let the door stand on its own. With a little skip down the stairs of his house, he claps a hand on the boy's shoulder.]
Hasn't killed me yet!
...
[A wistful sigh.]
Wish I could help the thing, though. No one'll take it.

[He'd never imagined the home life of anyone in a teacher position. In theory he knows they have one, and he even knows he lives across the street from one, but he'd never wondered about it. All that changes now as he stares intently at the door, half expecting that the rabbit simply backed up. Is life in Maurtia Falls 001 defined by evading a rabbit?
But it's just a rabbit...
So many questions.]
no subject
[To be fair in Kidou's case, Junpei's not exactly one you expect to be holding the teacher's badge. Sure, he dressed up, but they'd let him keep the baseball cap and the casual Fridays. It wasn't too long ago himself that he was just IN school, only getting out of it by dimensions of time and space.]
I've got to feed it later too. [He rubs the back of his neck idly, heaving a sigh as his body goes limp and somewhat noodley.]
Lucky me.
no subject
Even with you being the one feeding it, it acts like that...
[Which brings up a side question if he's the only one who lives there. Kidou has a feeling he's not, but he can't really remember. He didn't pay enough attention to his neighbors, clearly.
Thoughtful, he considers the problem at hand. Since he's aware of it, the only responsible thing he can try to do is find a solution to it.]
There has to be some way to befriend it.
no subject
Unless...you wanna give it a shot. Now that I think about it--it doesn't go after Dipper when he stops by.
[Maybe small children are the key...]

[The gears turn in Kidou's mind a moment more, running over what he knows about rabbits again - they're animals, people keep them as pets, they eat carrots and maybe lettuce? He'll have to find out. They're not supposed to be mean. That approach is useless, so he frowns a little more and makes himself start over. What does he know about animals?
Koromaru likes being greeted with treats. Is that true for rabbits? What's a rabbit treat?]
Seems I need to do some research.
[That's Kidou for yes.]
no subject
Only this time it wouldn't be tragic. It was just feeding a rabbit.
At the very least, he could protect Kidou against that.]
Sweet!
What do you say we go out to a cafe to brainstorm? I'm buyin'.
no subject
I have no objections to that. Do you have anywhere in mind?
no subject
Any requests? Maybe something in Heropa or Nonah. Nice change of pace from good ol' MF, right?

[A hand claps to his back, fingers gripping onto that shoulder as he starts to steer him correctly--but not forcing him at the same time.]
Always been kinda a fan of Heropa. I mean, a beach accessible ALL the time?
Who WOULDN'T, right?
no subject
[The best answer Junpei gets out of Kidou is a noncommittal sound. He doesn't freeze up as clearly as earlier at the contact, but he pulls his shoulder forward, trying to ease up out of that grip.]
I can follow. Just lead the way.

Not sure if you're a coffee or a tea guy, but they got great stuff for both.
Muffins the size of your hand, too.
...Your hand, not mine.
