Bucky Catch-All

WHO: Bucky Barnes [personal profile] sidecars and YOU!
WHERE: All over
WHEN: All October
WHAT: Boozin' and dancin'
WARNINGS: N/A for now

BOOGIE WOOGIE BUGLE BOY

Holy moley... [ What is he witnessing? It looks like one of those arcade games, but there aren't any control and a lot of movement going on. He would hardly call it dancing, but that seems to be everyone else's consensus.

Boogie Boogie Battlefield. The blocks below the players' feet light up with every new step. Some of them are definitely better than others. It's only when the crowd begins to thin out that Bucky is systematically pushed forward to the front where he gets the opportunity to see what's really going on. A few of the natives encourage him to get on up there and try it for himself. They show him how to play and pick an easy song for him to start out with. It's nothing he's ever heard of, but the rhythm is simple enough to follow.

His score isn't too bad. Maybe he has a knack for this kind of thing! Anyone want to try challenging this winning streak? ]

[Yet. You had to say "yet" Bucky. Toro is looking at him with a bit of caution, but Bucky looks pleased enough that Toro thinks they'll be in the clear. And Buck's been on his best behavior so he doubts they'll have any real problems. Nothing they can't talk their way out of.

And then Bucky gets them in without even an ID check and Toro is staring at him with a bit of suspicion. That...was way too easy.]

Those guys sure are trusting. Honor code must be high around here.

[Toro knows there is more to it than that, but it's Bucky and he's not about to ruin the good time they're going to have picking at him. He knows better than that. So he just shakes his head and follows after him through the throng of people.]

So are you legal yet? Think I missed your birthday again.

[Toro shakes head a bit, letting it go.] We don't need to do that. Since yours is before mind anyway.

[He leans against the counter.] And these days I drink anything that has a kick to it.

[Or he did. Thankfully he's passed the months of hanging around bars and drinking his bitterness at the state of his life away. But he's not going to tell Bucky about that.]

[Not by choice. It would probably have been easier if he stayed young and naive, dumb enough to keep believing the government has their best interests at heart even when it does things he can't agree with. But he did come out on the better side of things in the end, in his opinion. He chuckles.]

Old? If there's one thing I don't have a problem with, it's aging.

[That's a lie, but it's a different kind of problem than most people have.]

[Toro takes a drink when his beer finally arrives and doesn't bother hiding the roll of his eyes.]

You think that 'cause you're stuck here right now. I was still being carded at the bar when I was 45.

You're a shit, J. Bucky Barnes.

[Said easily right before Toro takes another drink.] You can choke on those crackers, talking like that.

It's because I know you so well that I can tell you what you can do with those crackers.

[He says it with a smirk because he's old enough now that The Bucky Look doesn't work on him anymore. Instead it makes him feel younger than he has in years, filled with the nostalgia of it.]

Besides, I don't think my student ID from college matters much now that I don't go anymore. [And that was the only kind of ID he had before he came here.]
