[To say Violet is upset is an understatement but most of all she's furious. She's sitting in a cell from being accused of abetting a criminal (Kay) and for possessing a firearm (which doesn't help her at all since she's underage to boot). She did get to make a phone call to Edgeworth to come help her and then a text message to Light to let him know what happened. Then her phone is taken away as evidence and she's left sitting around with absolutely nothing to do.

In short: being in prison sucks]

Something blue... You know, from what I've heard, you're not the only one who has found themselves in a similar position. If the others have also seen this "something blue" then it may be the link we need.

[He can only hope, at least. It's all they have to possibly work with for now, and even then it's flimsy.]

I asked Kay. She didn't see anything, so I don't even know if it's important.

[it's very flimsy, so flimsy even Violet doesn't have faith in it]

Kay? A, ah, friend of yours?

[He thinks to himself that perhaps he should do a bit of investigating into the matter himself later.]

Yeah. She was also arrested at the courthouse with me.

[she would sure appreciate it considering she's too pissed to try to ask the guard for some access to her phone]

Maybe I'll ask around and try to figure out exactly what's going on; or at least as much as they'll let me, given that I don't have access to much of the legal processes here.

[Not that that'll stop a stubborn teen like Light.]

In the meantime, do you need anything? I can bring you something to read if you're dying of boredom in there.

[Which Light knows to be an awful thing.]

[she does smile a little]

I have some books in my room. If you could bring them to me.

[That wins a small laugh out of him, though she won't understand the irony behind it.] I do, actually. If you only knew.

[But that's a story for next time, should he bother sharing it. He nods at her request.]

All right. I'll grab them for you. In the meantime, try not to worry about anything. Like I said, this'll all get sorted.

[she sits back down.]

If you like. [A reassuring grin.] And yeah, I'll see you soon.

[And with that, coupled with another nod, he'll be turning around to leave. He'll be back later, of course, with some reading material for Violet; but naturally he hopes to see her back in their residence soon without any further difficulty.]

[Violet would appreciate the reading material. At least she's considered low risk enough that visitors and books are forbidden. It's going to be around June 13th by the time she's allowed to be free from custody without a trial. The first thing she's doing when she gets home? Is take a nice long freaking hot shower.]

[He comes back a bit later, as promised. He has a stack of books in his hands as he approaches once more.]

[she kids as she sees the stack of books. Those will last her a while. Now if only she can get access to her phone and her music.]

[a grin.] Yes, but better too much than not enough. I don't know how fast you read.

[he moves against the bars, positioning himself to hand her the books.] I also put a couple of my own in there. You don't have to read them, of course, but just in case you wanted something you hadn't expected...

[there's only two of them, but Light's books (the ones read for pleasure) often consist of crime thrillers, legal thrillers, and murder mysteries.]

[she's more than happy to take them. She recognizes most but the few she doesn't gives her pause. She stops to flip it over to the back to glance over the summary]

So what's been happening?

[Idly, he wraps a hand around one of the bars, feeling the coolness of metal. He remembers being behind them once, too -- he can imagine what boredom she must be feeling. He'll of course humor her with conversation.]

Well... other than the obvious? Not a whole lot. The semester's over for me, you know, so I feel like I'm always looking for something to occupy myself.

I still can't believe you're going to the schools here.

[she sure isn't and isn't about to change her mind about it anytime soon. Not unless boredom really leads her down that path]

What about your job?

[godly]

[He nearly shrugs; Violet's thoughts on attending the schools here is hardly a surprising one to him.]

Why wouldn't I go to the schools here? I have to continue my education somehow, even if it means not at the university in my... world.

And my job was only ever part-time to begin with. I have a lot of free time on my hands now that it's summer break.

I can learn things on my own. Once I'm out of here anyway.

[she'd be a lot more miserable if Light doesn't come visit]

You know my employer offered to bust me out. I almost took it.

[Naturally that causes him to frown. Because, seriously-- what?]

...Well, I'm glad you didn't; it only would have caused more trouble for you in the end, not to mention hinder the legal process of trying to prove you innocent, Violet. You'd think your boss would know better.

He has a tendency of saying he takes care of his own. [it's a little worrying though it also feels nice] He's a bit of a weirdo.

[Light just... finds that worrying.] What did you say his name was?

Yeah, I know. I've made fun of him for it already.

[Well, that's certainly a name.]

Not exactly a name that inspires the most confidence.
