WHERE: De Chima, Virginia
WHEN: Month of August
WHAT: Open log! Let me know if you want a specific starter (

WARNINGS: Ronan Lynch is probably his own warning
a; music store
[He's not in the instrument section, although he could be. He hasn't played any music in a long time, but he listens to music like crazy, and it's not all the digital downloads. Sometimes Ronan Lynch finds weird music that he can only listen to on cassette or vinyl or CD. He likes the weird serendipity of it.
He's looking, right now, at something for a shitty band. Chainsaw is on his shoulder, and the manager has been trying to gather up the courage to kick him out for fifteen minutes.
He actually is putting the CD back when Chainsaw opens her wings and smacks someone's face.
Probably yours.]
b; on the lazy river
[It's the kind of heat that would drive anyone crazy; Virginia heat, hot summer weather. Ronan had been home, it's his day off, but he's not dealing with it well so he took to the river.
It's a popular spot with local teens (and some imPorts) and he's trying to find a spot that isn't covered in people sneaking beers and splashing. He manages to find one eventually, and he's swimming, casually, when he hears someone approach and looks up.]

( c. ) i do what i want.
But Ronan looks worse.
Currently the other boy is draped across the couch, tank top sticking to him awkwardly. There's a sweat that he's studiously ignoring at his temple. Adam can feel the misery rising from him like the thick soup of air around him. He doesn't think twice about grabbing his wallet, nor about tossing the keys to the - newly dreamt - bmw on his boyfriend's stomach. ]
Come on.
[ The car at least has AC. And Adam has a plan. ]
you're excellent
For someone who loves his home, he doesn't deal with heat well. He's bone meltingly crabby from three walks with ten different dogs, and he wants to just be left to wilt.
He hears Adam and thinks that he can't bear touching him because of the heat when the keys hit his stomach, and he squints to look up. Adam is standing and walking away, which, you know, is nice, because Adam has a fantastic back and ass and Ronan doesn't mind watching, but then Adam says come on and Ronan can't help himself. He unfolds.]
It's a fucking furnace out there, Parrish, this better be fucking worth it.

[ He feels the atmosphere hit him the minute he steps outside. Part of him wants to rush to the BMW but he knows that'll make things worse. So instead he just waits until Ronan unlocks it, the leather uncomfortable as he slides in. It's easy to flip the AC on full the minute Ronan shoves the key in, the chilly artificial air immediate and blessed. ]
We need to stop at the grocery store first.
[ As part of his plan. ]
no subject
Fuck this better not be errands.
[But he drives]
no subject
[ Adam knows better than to drag him along for a reason like that. He also knows there's a small list of supplies he should pick up. But he shifts in his seat, rests his cheek against the headrest, quietly studying Ronan. He likes these quiet moments, the ones where there's not much going on, where they aren't rushing around.
It makes him feel hopeful. ]

a!
What doesn't work is getting whacked in the head by a bird. Mint frowns at Chainsaw, giving the bird a tiny little glare. ] That was incredibly rude, you know.
[ It's said in English, but said to Chainsaw. And, due to her Porter power, even though she's talking in English, it can be understood by birds. Which...means it can also be misunderstood by Ronan but hey, she's looking at the bird, she's not looking at him! ]

What just happened.
Ronan looks over, barely, and Chainsaw caws. Sorry, is what she says, because Chainsaw has manners, unlike her owner.]

With a giggling gasp of air, ] I was already here. I could hear you drive up from a mile away.

[He says it with no malice. It's just Ronan Lynch.]
no subject
[He floats up onto his back, all skinny ribs and freckled elbows, and splashes some water in Ronan's direction.]
no subject
Yeah, you can blame Gansey for that.
[But the truth is that Ronan never really protested Noah living with them. He paddles a bit away, but not far.]

c. animal shelter!!
Oh, she's so cute. Can we get her out?
[ "She" is a tortoiseshell kitten with too many toes and a ridiculously short tail, and Matthew is well aware that he does not have permission to bring any more animals home but he really wants to hold her for a little bit. ]
no subject
He watches Matthew and reaches into the kennel, pulls the kitten out. She meows a little and looks up at Matthew.]
She's going home tomorrow, she's scheduled to be spayed.
[So don't get attached.]

You did good, [ he tells her happily, pleased that she's got herself a family lined up already. Her whiskers curl forward and that's the only warning before her paw shoots up to bat harmlessly at his nose, making him laugh again, louder this time. ]
Ronan-- [ He looks up, grinning. ] You've got the best job.
no subject
It pays shit.
[Just to reiterate: he is not doing this for the money.]

You can dream a whole house.

B); let's say around the 19th?
[Daryl said back in the same tone. He'd come to the river not to swim, but because most of the game he'd been tracking were headed that way. Not for where all the teenagers were making noise, of course. Further down. But he'd been making his way past most of the day-camps when he'd spotted the Raven making an overhead survey. Decided to follow her back and see where she was nesting.
He hadn't known it was Chainsaw when he saw her. He didn't know her that well. Thought maybe there was a nest nearby he could watch newborns being taken care of. See what the parents did and learn from them, maybe. But then she'd landed on a tree near some cast off clothes and Daryl had recognized the asshole swimming by his lonesome.]
How you doing, Chainsaw?
[He asked with a polite nod her way before looking back down at Ronan and holding up the six pack of beer he'd swiped from some underage drinkers who were too afraid of the crossbow on his back to say no when he'd claimed it for himself.]
You drink?
[And yes, that was an actual smile curling up the edge of his mouth.]
perf
He isn't sure why he likes Daryl. Maybe because Daryl doesn't give a fuck. Or because Daryl sort of reminds him of the parts of Henrietta he likes (which is saying something about what Ronan likes about Henrietta), or because Daryl is unapologetically himself.
Mostly it boils down to that. Daryl doesn't front, and Ronan respects that.
He opens his hands for a beer.]
Here.
no subject
Was out here during April and it was deserted. Now everyone and their mother's out on the river, making noise, forcing the game south and east.
[He lifted his can to his lips and huffed wryly:]
Even you.
[Which was basically Daryl for 'what the hell you doing out here? this don't seem like your kind of place']
no subject
[He opens his can of beer and takes a drink. Chainsaw fluffs a bit and caws at that.]
What are you hunting? You know there's a thing called a supermarket, right?
no subject
[Daryl absently tried to calm Chainsaw down by switching his petting to her back and wings.]
Any food I can hunt or find for myself is less money spent.
